Can I join you?

I've just ordered 30 Day Shred. Was hoping it might be here today but I guess it'll be tomorrow or Friday now. I was exercising fairly regularly last year at the local gym but between the kids being ill and me being ill and maybe a bit lazy too I haven't been for a while. I've given up my gym membership so we could replace our old car with a newer one so thought I might manage to do some exercise at home Smile.

I'm hoping to shape up a bit. Am currently a 14-16 in clothes and would love to get down to a definite 14 initially and eventually (long term goal) back into a 12, which I was pre-dc.

Now, please someone tell me it's not going to kill me on Day 1 Grin

knottyhair · 11/05/2011 14:17

Hi SJM123 and craftynclothy! You'll be fine and addicted in no time Grin. You may ache a bit at the beginning and depending on what you've been doing so far, it can be a bit of shock to the system at first, but it does get easier.

Jacksterbear · 11/05/2011 15:58

THAT'S IT! I HAVE DONE IT! ALL 30 DAYS OF THE SHRED!!

HUGE Smile

threestepsforward · 11/05/2011 17:06

Congratulations Jacksterbear, briliant stuff Grin - what next lol?

And nice to meet you SJM123 and Craftynclothy Smile

You'll ache for the first few days but after that you'll be on a roll...

gracelesslady · 11/05/2011 17:50

well done jackster!!!! A-MAY-ZING!!! :o

xxxx

sjm123 · 11/05/2011 18:50

Well done on completing the whole 30 days Jackster :)

Hello all. I've just done my "The Firm - Bootcamp" dvd too, and now I really do hurt. Kind of dreading tomorrow morning now, and I'm supposed to be going running with a friend.

Jacksterbear · 11/05/2011 19:47

Thanks all. Am sooooo chuffed with myself.

Only 2 measly lb lost BUT I have reclaimed a whole wardrobe full of pre-pg clothes; can squeeze myself into just about all my old things now (now just need to work on making them not quite so tight Grin).

Think I will reacquaint myself with my old friends Davina and Billy Blanks for a while, before going back to the Shred, and will probably also order another Jillian DVD. I have a feeling however that of all my other exercise DVDs, they are all going to feel a bit nothingy now after the Shred - at least, all the short ones will; the ones that are hard are hard because they are really long, like 50 mins plus. I do like the efficiency of the Shred!

Dysgu · 11/05/2011 21:22

I have just done L1D4 - I think it is getting easier - it certainly seems to be going by more quickly although that might be because I am getting to know the routines.

I am really amazed at all of the people who have got all the way through - I am not even half way through the first level and am already dreading level 2! It is good to read how many people started off like me but have made it all the way.

I think I am going to have to get a tape measure and some scales so I can see where I am at this point to see where it gets me...

JelliBelli · 11/05/2011 23:46

Dysgu and the other newbies do get a measuring tape as soon as you can - you'll want to record all the changes you make. That way when you have a bit of a flakey day you can see just how far you've come and you'll be inspired to continue.

Just for the record (and not showing off, honest!) I also found it really hard at the beginning and it felt like I'd never manage to join Nadalee and find it 'easy'. I started less than 4 months ago. I have lost 12lbs and 14 inches (bust, underbust, waist & hip) so far. I have completed 30DS, Six week 6 Pack and have started running. I was a confirmed non exerciser!

Stick with it on the tricky days - it will be so worth it and you'll be so proud of yourself.

sjm123 · 12/05/2011 08:43

I have done all the measuring stuff, and it's pointed out to me that I'm actually bigger than I thought I was :(

I have woken up this morning and my shoulders are a little sore, as are my thighs but it's in no way as bad as I was scared it would be! I did undo a lot of work yesterday with a very large glass of red and some cheese whilst celebrating, so am going to do a bit of extra exercise today (as soon as I've had at least 2 cups of coffee)!

sjm123 · 12/05/2011 09:18

L1D2 done, shoulders and upper arms are complaining a bit!

I've also just had a bit of a moment and agreed to do the shine London night time walking marathon in aid of Cancer Research at the beginning of October, with a much younger, thinner, fitter friend. I absolutely bloody have to stick to doing this properly now, and get on with the couch to 5k as well or it'll kill me!

notyummy · 12/05/2011 09:23

Well done Sjm - I think level 2 is pretty hard on the shoulders and core so not surprised you are feeling it.

sjm123 · 12/05/2011 09:50

I'm only doing level 1, just day 2 :)

notyummy · 12/05/2011 09:55

Ah - I see! Blush

Well keep working through the aches. L 1 ok, L2 pretty intense tbh, but I found L3 better - although harder on the cardio because of of lots of jumping.

notyummy · 12/05/2011 11:58

Just done 20 minutes of pilates followed by L2 6W6P with 3kg weight.

Phew - it is NOT easy...

craftynclothy · 12/05/2011 13:35

Wow, well done jackster Smile

My DVD arrived this morning and luckily (ill) dd1 took herself off to bed and dd2 fell asleep too, so I've done L1D1. It was pretty hard work in places and I am AWFUL at press-ups but I did enjoy it. Ended up very sweaty. I'll have to do measurements tonight.

BalloonSlayer · 12/05/2011 16:21

Well done everyone.

I am feeling Sad

I tried L2 of 6W6P, all excited, but struggled dreadfully. I have hurt my shoulder and couldn't do some of the exercises because they hurt - fair enough - but there were some things I couldn't do because I couldn't get my body to do the right thing, or see myself in a mirror, or remember which leg I was supposed to be using this time. I started crying at one point, I was so discouraged. And there's such a lot of strain on the knees too, another of my weak spots.

Sad again.

I shall try again tomorrow but I am feeling as if I have fallen at the last fence.

knottyhair · 12/05/2011 16:42

BalloonSlayer, I've only tried L2 once, and managed to get through it but I don't think I've ever done anything as hard! I haven't given it another go yet - can't face it Blush. Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one Smile.

threestepsforward · 12/05/2011 17:19

Afternoon all Grin

No Shredding for me today, or yesterday Sad. In my mind, I can feel myself re-inflating each day I don't manage a Shred or some other sort of exercise. Not a good thing, a throw back to my over-dieting/over-exercising years I think. Will hopefully be able to fit in a Shred tomorrow in the evening.

Balloon poor you. Do you remember struggling at the beginning of the Shred? I know I did. You'll probably get acclimatised to it like with the Shred. Maybe it takes a few runs through and by then you'll know what's coming up and be able to get your body in the right position. Not sure what you can do about the knee situation though if it's very knee-intensive.

It sounds horrible!!! I am going to get the DVD in a few weeks time though, as Shred is starting to send me a bit mad. It sounds like it might be "a bit of a challenge" (said in Jillian voice)!

Knottyhair are you feeling better now?

Off to go assemble flatpack stuff, joy, have a good evening everyone...

threestepsforward · 12/05/2011 17:24

And well done everyone on the first few days of Shred [woop woop] Grin

chocolateshoes · 12/05/2011 17:28

well done Conqita & jackster!!!!!!!

I was meant to start level 3 today & completely forgot & did another go off level 2 by accident grrrrrrr. Zumba tonight though so it might be just as well! L2 is hard BalloonSlayer - am very muh hoping that I rememebr to switch to level 3 tomorrow to put an end to it!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 12/05/2011 18:13

have order nmtz, hurry up amazon! Am moving into my third week of shred, I feel brave and may go for level 3 at the weekend, cos I can now do level 1 and 2 back to back without dying. A question for those of you that have been through the shred, when you do it again do you just tend to up the weights on do more than one level?

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 12/05/2011 18:19

Gone mad and ordered 6w6p as well!

notyummy · 12/05/2011 18:30

Balloon - dont be discouraged. I am not trying to claim to be an iron woman, but I am pretty fit tbh and have exercised for years, including circuit training and military training. I can do LOADS of full press-ups! However I find L2 6W6P REALLY hard. I cannot finish all the moguls. Perhaps try doing it without a weight until you feel you have all the moves? Or just do it at your own pace until you feel you have learned the routine enough?

notyummy · 12/05/2011 18:33

Sign - I now only Shred once or twice a week and mix it up with other stuff. Generally Ls 2 and 3 back to back with 3 kg weight. I am buying 4 kg so may trying uping the weight soon for some of the exercises.
