Dysgu · 09/05/2011 18:00

I am trying hard to talk myself into shredding later this evening. The DDs will be going in the bath soon and I am thinking I might do it then (DP will supervise bath so not leaving them alone!) but I certainly ache more than yesterday.

Even my feet are tired so I think I am wearing the wrong footwear and will have to buy some new trainers asap.

Right - DP is about to start running the bath - I am going to get changed ready...

chocolateshoes · 09/05/2011 21:25

keep forgetting which day I'm on! Its all a blur. Must be L2D8 I think. Am still much slower than those 3 at getting up out of a plank to standing! L2 is definately much sweatier than L1 and is causing untold amounts of washing!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 09/05/2011 21:36

chocolateshoes, 3kg v raises! My gawd, I did it again today and can still only manage 1kg and it's still a bloody struggle. I can do the rest with 2.5kg now but those just kill me. think will go off an order nmtz as seems to be the one that most people "enjoy".

Dysgu · 09/05/2011 22:36

I did L1D3 today and had DD1 as my personal trainer - she handed me the weights and joined in with the cardio stuff. "Come on mummy, you can do it - look, I can kick my butt!"

She was also very busy in pulling down my t-shirt to "cover up that fat belly, mummy!" so may well be extra motivation!

I then jumped straight into her bath before she could get in Grin

febes · 10/05/2011 02:12

Well I'm back on the wagon after 2 weeks rest being lazy. I decided not to shred (still scared of L2 although I've already completed my first full shred and am up to Day 10 L2 Hmm) I gave 6W6P a go and found it good but the side plank where you are holding your arm up and then crunching your knee in is bloody hard. I just couldn't do it so modified it a bit by putting my arm on the ground to steady myself. I still couldn't really do it though!!
I did it with a 2 kg weight so probably a bit light but it was enough for now. Its nice to feel my muscles again and I love the feeling of power and satisfaction at having done it. Off to Aquacombo tonight which is Jillian in the water and very challenging. I'll be feeling it tomorrow.
I have now lost over 3st since starting low carb and shredding so it really getting very noticable now. I feel so proud of myself but I still want to lose another 3-4st as I'm still 16st2. Into size 16 now though Grin.

conquita · 10/05/2011 02:21

OK - this is the final measurement and weigh in before I leave the country:
I first started shredding on the 17th December 2010, I did the complete 30 days and then have done each level 3- 5 days a week, including walking twice a day to and from work. I have not particularly dieted as such, I believe if I had I would have lost a lot more weight. But because I don't drink alcohol and eat pretty healthily anyway I thought I would just concentrate on my fitness levels:

So......I am doing this in cm because the numbers look better!
I am 5ft 4inches
On the 17th December I was: 75kg
Today I weigh 70kg [am sad about this as would have liked to have got to my healthy BMI]

Measurements: I am doing this in cm because the numbers look better!
Left arm: Before 33cm Now 28.5cm
Right arm: Before 32cm Now 29cm
Bust: Before 89cm Now 85cm
Small waist - Before 80cm Now 69.5cm
Fat waist - Before 92cm Now 85cm
Hips - Before 111cm Now 104.5cm
Left Thigh - Before 63cm Now 59.5cm
Right Thigh - Before 64cm Now 59cm

I am quite pleased with the waist and hip measurements!

I have mentioned this before so forgive me if I sound like I am repeating myself, but without this thread I would not have kept this up. No one who knows me in real life knows I have done this, except my bf, so you guys have been my support network. I have NEVER exercised like this before, I put it down to you and the encouragement you have given me when I felt like giving up. I am no where near my goal figure, but when I come back in a months time I will restart the 30 day shred and lead onto 6w6p and couch to 5k. Thank you everyone, and to those who are just starting or are in the middle of the regime, PLEASE keep going, remember you can not be any worse than you were before you started < I hope that makes sense!

LostGirl · 10/05/2011 08:11

Congratulations on everything you have achieved conquita, hope you have a fantastic holiday Smile

Jacksterbear · 10/05/2011 08:12

Wow awesome progress febes and conquita huge pats on the back to you both! "you guys are amazing - A. MA. ZING." (JM, L3).

dysgu you have done the hardest bit now (first 3 days), not that the rest is easy but definitely not so achey!

Keep up the good work everyone!

knottyhair · 10/05/2011 08:19

Great results, Conquita! And febes, the side planks in 6w6P do get easier. I had to do the beginner version when I first started it, but can now do full sets of the advanced ones - keep at it!

notyummy · 10/05/2011 09:01

So proud of the great results! Shows what can be done.

I am a seasoned exerciser and I find those side planks in L2 6W6P a real challenge, particularly at the quicker pace. I think part of the problem is the coordination - every time I do it my brain wants to stick the wrong leg out in front of me, and then I correct, and then I am late getting to the next one....etc etc

gracelesslady · 10/05/2011 10:28

huge congratulations conquita i hope you enormously proud of yourself and have a fantastic holiday :o

trumpton · 10/05/2011 10:33

D6 L2 . Then walked to school and back 2 miles pushing DGS up a steep hill on way back. methinks a coffee is calling me.

trumpton · 10/05/2011 10:35

And ...well done conquita . I did 30 day shred this time last year and had similar results. Why did I let myself get slobby over winter ??? Why oh Why ?

threestepsforward · 10/05/2011 13:23

Great stuff everyone Grin

Conquita, bloody well done you! You should be chuffed to bits with those measurements. Hope you have a fab month off.

Well I Shredded yesterday, and did levels 2 and 3 back to back the day before. It's all becoming a bit, erm, dull though. I'm loving the results, but knowing their every single quip or facial twitch is massively starting to p me off!

Once the house stuff is sorted I will definitely be buying one of Jillian's other DVDs to keep my interest up.

Which is the most similar to Shred in terms of getting a mix of cardio and strength does anyone know?

Think this combination is really working for me and would like to stick with the idea if at all possible...

Hope everyone is enjoying the day, this sunshine is amazing, and seemingly endless Smile

notyummy · 10/05/2011 17:00

Three steps - I would say 6W6P. BFBM is v cardio (no weights) and NMTZ is exactly the opposite!

flatmouse · 10/05/2011 17:09

Still out of the game :( seeing physio tonight so hopefully will dive back in somewhere this week (with reduced cardio - bloomin calf).
Am noticing that my trousers are most certainly NOT getting any looser having not really done anything for the best part of 3-4 weeks now (but not too much tighter either - phew!) - Really want to get going again though.

Fantastic news conquita - and as i just jumped to this page i don't know what febes has done but assuming from other comments it's good! :)

Keep it up everyone, i'll be back with you soon.

notyummy · 10/05/2011 17:14

She also has 'Ripped in 30' coming out - but I dont know when it is available in the UK.

threestepsforward · 10/05/2011 20:01

Thanks notyummy Smile Will definitely get a copy of that to save my sanity!

Did levels 2 and 3 today...which was possibly not such a good plan as my ankle now hurts. Will take a break tomorrow I think... Interestingly though, the last few times I've done level 2 it's not been as bad as I remembered. Either I'm getting better at this malarky, or I'm getting slacker lol

Flatmouse sorry you're still out of action, poor you. Hope the physio goes well tonight and they can mend you.

Off to eat now, am starving Grin Hope everyone is having a good evening.

flatmouse · 10/05/2011 21:16

Well the good news is I wasn't injured :)
The seizing up was a protection thing - was a solid mass! If it reoccurs I treat with heat to get circulation going.
So I have a green light for running, and I will do low-impact cardio in shred.

Phew!

littledolly · 10/05/2011 22:26

Well, have just completed L2 D1. I was DREADING level 2 and while it was bloody awful it maybe wasn't quite as bad as I thought. Am worried that it will be harder from here on in though as I know what is required for each move if you know what I mean! Don't think I've ever sweated so much in my life though! Am loving the fact that you can achieve such a good workout in just over 20 mins!
Well done to those who are seeing such good results - if I could stop eating like a pig, I'm sure I'll see results too!

conquita · 10/05/2011 23:25

Thank you everyone for your messages, I really really really appreciate it. Lostgirl, thanks for talking sense into me when I felt like giving up.
Keep up the great work everyone! and if you starting out, remember to measure yourself, that is very very important.

Jacksterbear · 11/05/2011 08:21

flatmouse that's good news!

littledolly well done on L2, I found it not as bad as I had feared on the 1st go but very hard to keep it up for 10 days straight, but I did it, and I improved to Nat level on most moves, so u can do it too!

Anyone else struggling with the crazy amount of laundry created by shredding every day?!

trumpton · 11/05/2011 09:51

D7 L2 sweaty heap. Not getting any easier although I am managing walking press ups better.

sjm123 · 11/05/2011 12:13

I've just started this today, Level 1. I think I did ok with it, sweated like a pig and I'm starting to ache in places already.

I have lost about 3 stone since the beginning of December just by eating less rubbish (sort of following slimming world, but not really counting syns and not going to classes) and going to the gym 3 times a week, plus on and off doing the couch to 5k.

I need to lose a lot more though, and I need to do something about the state of my abdomen, it just looks awful (stretchy skin, stretchmarks and general bagginess!) and I'd heard this was a good one for that. I'm aiming for another stone off before the beginning of July really.

Joby1970 · 11/05/2011 12:25

well done SJM123 you have come to the right place x
