No room at the part two inn - so here goes part 3!!

6W6P level 1 day 8 done...
... And I still hate burpees!

stringbean · 28/04/2011 22:51

Knitknack the same has happened to me. I did 30DS all the way through and now am 2 weeks into 6W6P Level 1 and am definitely bigger. Not in a bad way; there is definitely less fat, but jeans are tighter Sad so although I feel stronger and have more muscle definition, it's a teeny bit disappointing. Also, people have commented my face is thinner (damn, why does the fat fall off your face and not your bum??). But I am sticking with it, as it's making me feel stronger, more positive, 'taking all that strength into every facet of your life' (fnarr fnarr) Grin. Seriously, I do find JM motivating. Just disappointed that there is not less of me than when I started.

trumpton · 29/04/2011 09:40

D4L1 DD1 did it with me and larfed ,I tell you , larfed at me. Still at least I can walk straight unlike her and I had to help her bath the baby last night because her legs were too sore to trust. So NER to her.

Jacksterbear · 29/04/2011 13:07

This morning I found myself wondering what had been spilt on the laminate floor in front of the tv... and then realising it was drops of sweat from where I had been shredding! Grin Niice.

L2 day 8 done this morning pre wedding.

Well done everyone, keep going! [csmile]

knitknack · 29/04/2011 17:33

Oh thanks guys, that does make me feel better! I wonder if the same thing is happening to me stringbean - I think things are already... tighter, I suppose and BIGGER! LOL It's not going to stop me though, I've always wanted to be strong - my goal, pathetic as it is, is to do a proper pushup, having never been able to do one, even in my county-athletic level youth!

L1D5 done :)

Used 2kg weights for some bits today - not all though...

I love this thread!

Momentarynamechange · 29/04/2011 17:43

Stick with it knitknack! I remember someone knowledgeable, was it Lost Girl?, saying that your body always looks bigger immediately post-exercise because of holding water (which is why bodybuilders always take pics of themselves post-exercise as their guns will look their biggest Grin).

That said, I've veered between thinking I'm toning up and becoming more lean, and then thinking I'm inflating and becoming more butch!

Overall though I am chuffed to bits with the positive changes, which massively outweigh any negative...

Kind of doing 1 day on 1 day off at the moment. Did levels 1 & 3 back to back today. It's still a bloody challenge, and I'm still sweaty and messy at the end... after 2 months of it! Actually quite pleased it is still a challenge, as it makes me feel I'm still getting a lot out of it.

Happy weekends all Smile

knitknack · 29/04/2011 18:49

WOW- back to back! amazing...

trumpton · 30/04/2011 09:16

D5L1 getting to part of routine I hope. But had too much alcohol last night. Neighbours had home made sloe gin and it would have been rude not to partake.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 30/04/2011 12:53

Think I'm on day 6, but not doing everyday so probably won't keep and accurate account. measured yesterday and lost 2 inches in total for 1st week and 2lbs but scales dodgy so I am going by inches. Pleased with results, love the "I want to feel like you're dying", thanks Jillian, that's exactly how I felt on the second set of plank jacks!

JelliBelli · 30/04/2011 17:31

Hi All,

Hurrah!!!! I have finished 6W6P today! Phew! am I glad to see the back of that. It did get easier less impossible but it remained hard work, even today. I worked through the whole of L1 6x per week and L2 6+x per week and only had one extra day off on Thursday as I have begun C25K and my legs didn't feel up to a complete L2 and DH and I had run and were in a hotel and we needed to crack on and check out [lazy slug emoticon].

Anyway, after all the effort involved in L2 I am not sure if my measurements have changedHmm. I may have lost a lbConfused. I will have a measure tomorrow morning before I do my Bupa C25K beginner run (W1 R3 for anyone interested). I suspect I may need to do more cardio to shift the flab drifts as DH says I have toned up ALOT all over (even have a 'pert' behind now apparentlyShock!!) so i guess I have grown significant muscles so far.

I am about to go and order NMTZ so will have to 'just' do the running and maybe 6W6P L1 on the rest days as I have lent out 30DS to a friend.

Stringbean DH surprised me with what he said about my bum. I thought it had just got smaller (as I could feel there was less flab there) but he has said it is attractively pert now so perhaps yours has changed shape too and is more pert and toned?

TooImmature2BMum · 30/04/2011 18:39

I skipped yesterday but am determined to Shred today. It will only be day 4 out of a possible 6 - I am wasting precious pre-holiday exercise days! My arms and thighs feel fatter - I wonder if the reason is what you said about muscle swelling, ThisIs? Ie, muscle swelling under the existing flab?

I went out today and ordered a new bike through the Bike To Work scheme (if your employer is a member, you pick a bike and safety accessories and they pay for it and deduct the cost from your pay monthly for 18 months, so it's a way of getting a bike by spreading the payments). I hadn't realised I wouldn't actually get the bike until work has processed my application - what if they turn me down? I live 18 miles away from work and am still on maternity leave, so shan't actually be cycling to work, or not until my fitness levels are a heck of a lot better than they are now. It doesn't say anything in the guidance about having to prove that you actually cycle to work... Anyway, if they don't object, then I should get the bike in about 10 days and can start cycling as extra cardio.

ThisIs, when you say you lost 2 inches overall, does that mean a combination of 2 inches, or 2 inches off each measurement? Seeing results after only a week is excellent! I will measure myself on Monday morning and see if I have lost anything

Jacksterbear · 30/04/2011 18:45

Hey TooImmature how was the bbq yesterday, did you wear the skirt in the end?

Going to do L2d9 in a mo.

My arms are bigger too. I think because they didn't really have much fat on them to start with, so they were never really going to get any smaller, and now they have muscles so they are getting bigger!

I really need my thighs to shrink dammit!! Now they DO have lots and lots of fat which needs to melt away.

Scales STILL say no weight lost after nearly 3 weeks of shredding every day! Not one single pound. I've sweated more than a pound surely!! [indignant]

TooImmature2BMum · 30/04/2011 19:00

Hi Jack - I didn't actually go to the barbecue in the end. DH really didn't want to go and my sister and friends had already booked themselves onto the train and didn't want to drive with me, and I couldn't face a 3.5 hour drive alone. By the time DH and I had worked out that he would be okay here on his own, it was about 10 minutes before the girls got on the train, so it was a bit late to ask them to change their plans and go with me! It wasn't a great day, tbh, but I managed to stick to the diet even if I didn't manage to shred.

Jacksterbear · 30/04/2011 19:55

2immature Oh no! Sad But well done for sticking to the diet.

Just done my L2D9 plus the "buns and thighs" section from "10 minute solutions: pilates perfect body". Ow ow ow!

Jelli "attractively pert" bum, that's what I dream of!! Grin
(Mine, I mean, not yours. Not that yours isn't extremely attractive, I'm sure Wink)

littledolly · 30/04/2011 20:34

Hi all, another newbie here. Completed L1 D3 this morning. Thighs were aching last night-at one point I went out the front door, down the drive and round the side of our house to get to the living room rather than go down the stairs!! However did it again this morning and while I'm still not friends with the stairs, I can actually manage them today! Only pain is still in my thighs so am blaming the squats.
Need to address my diet, so am currently reading Top Sante for some inspiration while eating a bag of mini eggs
Been off work all week so it's been easy to find time to shred. My plan when I'm back at work next week is to get up half an hour earlier (5.30 eek!), so will see how that goes.......

Momentarynamechange · 30/04/2011 22:58

Jacksterbear, that's what I use for the stretch at the end of Shred, do you do the Stretch section?

I love it! Used to do more of the other sections until Jillian came into my life Grin I love the buns and thighs session the most of all the non-stretch sections, really do get the feeling you're elongating your legs lol.

They couldn't be more good cop (pilates lady) and bad cop (Jillian) - could they!

No Shred today but will be doing tomorrow, possibly a double session if I can face it.

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 30/04/2011 23:38

Tooimmature I wish it was 2 inches off each measurement, but it was half inch from waist, hips and each thigh, so am still quite pleased. The new bike sounds a great idea. I bought one last year and and it's been great for cardio and strengthening the legs, mind you I didn't think that this morning when I was doing the plank jacks. I wouldn't beat yourself up over not shredding every day, I think your body needs the odd day off to recover.

notyummy · 01/05/2011 00:03

Levels 1 and 2 back to back today. Did 45 min programme on cross trainer yesterday. Am tiddly now from gallons of prosecco at party so will wait and see what tomorrow brings! May do yoga or running....or may lie on couch!!

trumpton · 01/05/2011 09:35

L1 D5 I wore some trousers yesterday that pinched last week and have been washed since and they were comfortable. DD1 and I have been doing it together. Good fun. Have not hurt yet and I promise am working hard. Grin.

littledolly · 01/05/2011 10:36

Trumpton that's great that you are seeing results so quickly. I just did L1 D4 but really need to focus on my eating now to see results.

knitknack · 01/05/2011 12:30

Have you seen her website recently? There's a new DVD out (prob only in US at the mo) - 'ripped in 30 days' - eek!

Can't believe we 're about to attempt D7L1 - DH says his was much easier yesterday, but mine was almost harder sob this is either because I'd used 2kg weights for some of previous day, or because we did it later (around 7pm)... not sure...

I think using the 10 min pilates dvd for stretching and just to compliment 30DS is an inspired idea... one I might well steal!

Keep on keeping on...

Jacksterbear · 01/05/2011 12:48

trumpton good work re the trousers!

notyummy how's the head today?!

3steps and knitknack re the 10 mins solutions pilates... I used to do one section after a 20 min cycle on my exercise bike, they're great, really effective (although after a L2 shred yesterday I could barely make it through the legs section!). The stretch section is my least favourite I have to say, oddly difficult but without the feeling that it is actually achieving any results!

Welcome littledolly!

Done D10 of L2 today so on to L3 tomorrow, had a sneak preview... double jump rope in the warmup... fuuuuuuck! Grin

Momentarynamechange · 01/05/2011 20:10

I know exactly what you mean Jacksterbear, some of the big stretches do feel difficult, especially the hamstring stretches near the start, ow! Knitknack I'd really recommend the stretch session though as Jillian's warm down doesn't seem comprehensive enough to me. And 10 minutes doesn't feel like it adds to much to the whole Shred session too, which is another bonus!

Managed to squeeze in a level 3 today, which was unexpected. A busy day tomorrow, but hope to find another slot for a Shred. I may even attempt Level 2, my bete noir, which I've been actively avoiding!

Hope everyone is having a good evening Smile

notyummy · 01/05/2011 20:41

Hi all. Not feeling good today....

No exercise- felt terrible this morning. Self inflicted so i only have myself to blame! Back on the wagon tomorrow.

knitknack · 01/05/2011 22:02

I felt terrible today - I think I'm fighting something off... ended up in bed for 3 hours at about midday so thought that this would be my first day off shredding (as, apparently, did DH who seems to think that if I'm not doing it he's not doing it...?) Anyway, I decided to have a bit of a jump around and attempt it, with a view to stopping as soon as I felt bad and it was the easiest it's ever been - i FLOATED through it. I am now officially baffled at my body. so there.

L1D7 - done!

flatmouse · 02/05/2011 08:26

No shred for approx 2 weeks due to illness/tiredness/busy-ness/etc!
Back today - and calf has cramped up again :( popped ibuprofen and will get an apptmt with Physio. It was the butt kicks that did it - so unimpressed.
Once the pain goes I'll shred without cardio or just the boxing or similar!!

Not caught up all I've missed but well done jelli :) welcome any newcomers and keep going everyone else!
