2immature, I am so sorry to hear about your DD Sad Poor you, what you have been through.

I think you need to be gentle with yourself.

If you want a tip from me about shifting volume from your middle in 3 days, I'd suggest you cut down on carbs drastically for those three days. Cut out, if possible, bread, potatoes, pasta and rice and sugary stuff. Basically have protein and salad. If I do that my stomach seems to disappear like magic but puffs up again with the first bowl of pasta!

JelliBelli · 27/04/2011 09:20

Hi All,

Just checking in to say hello to the newies. DH is back but was very impressed. We are on our way to hotel gym together.Shock

trumpton · 27/04/2011 09:34

D2L1 done . I ( do I sound sad) I really enjoy it. Seems to give me a buzz for the day.

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 27/04/2011 15:10

I didn't do the Shred in the last few days. Somehow there was always something else happening Blush

I did it this morning though and think right after getting up and before breakfast is the best time for me to do it.

So yeah, I guess I am back to D1L1. Please kick me up the backside if I don't do it regularly! I have to fit into that bikini without looking like an exploding sausage

BalloonSlayer · 27/04/2011 15:55

I did 6W6P before picking up DS from nursery, but I fast-forwarded a couple of the early exercises, the side lunges and the ones before them because I was worried I would run out of time Blush

Then later on I did a Level 1 shred! Am chuffed with myself. I am also very. hungry. as I have only had a salad for lunch and two squares of chocolate and a mini egg

Momentarynamechange · 27/04/2011 16:11

Balloonslayer you make me laugh! (and have also reminded me I have a mini-choc bunny in my bag still...yum yum)

Grrr, was going to Shred today but house still full of builders, so I shall have to content myself with working and staring mutinously out the window. God I can't wait til it's all over. 2 long weekends back to back doesn't help, and I'm self-employed so it's not even as though I benefit from them, double grrr!

I studied my arms yesterday, and they do in fact look quite well-defined now. Then, at other times, they look flabby and sausage-like. I think I will be wearing sleeveless t-shirts in the summer though...

Biggest improvement has to be my bum, most definitely smaller, tighter, higher and perkier Grin I'm sure that's all mainly down to level 3...

Another day of sunshine here, hope everyone is having a good day Smile

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 27/04/2011 17:02

I'm just worried about bastard burpees, are there any of these in 30ds, Idon't even know what they are? Having done another couple of days on level 1, it's definitely feeling easier. it's a relative term obviously but I can at least get up from a chair without looking like a 90 year old.

notyummy · 27/04/2011 17:47

Don't worry Sign! I introduced the concept of Bastard Burpees because i was trying to show how bad burpees can be- there have been none in any if the JM DVDs I have done. Basically they are a burpee with a full press up every time you go down, and when you come up you have to jump on and off a bench as you come up. Nasty....

knitknack · 27/04/2011 17:55

Can I sign in? I'm D3L1 and have a sort of love/hate relationship with J and the whole thing... have managed to convince DH to do this with me, and we've both agreed that it's the thought of the other crowing that is making us do it each day...

I'm using 1kgs, (have the upper body strength of a malteser) but I'm going to get some 2kgs for the chest rises... Does anybody else LOVE the chest rises?! They make me feel so STRONG (probably because everything else makes me feel like a BIG LUMP OF JELLY)

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 28/04/2011 00:32

Shall relax now I know am not going to have to attempt bastard burpees. Anyone done the shred whilst nursing hangover? Is it possible?

notyummy · 28/04/2011 07:31

I did 6W6P with a hangover with a friend whilst staying at her house after persuading her to download it the night before when we were squishy. It was hard, but we survived.

trumpton · 28/04/2011 08:36

D3L1 watching what I eat . I have a big bowl of fruit for breakfast. planning soup for lunch and fish and salad for dinner. I must get back into my last summer's clothes.

DD1 and DD2 ( grown ups ) are also doing it but at different times.

notyummy · 28/04/2011 10:38

squishy=squiffy.

I blame the iphone!

BalloonSlayer · 28/04/2011 16:49

Managed a L3 Shred today... I haven't done it for ages so some of it came as a shock. Still think Level 1 is the hardest though.

TooImmature2BMum · 28/04/2011 17:22

I hope L1 is the hardest! Have completed L1D3 after skipping yesterday. I went to my sister's flat in the evening intending to be home by 8 and didn't get back til 10, by which time it was far too late to start Shredding. I weighed myself this morning and I've gained 3 lbs since Monday morning, and I have been so good with calories, too! I am cross. I'm trying to tell myself it's muscle mass. It is more likely to be Easter egg mass - my calorie intake never exceeded 1400 per day, but the calorie counter I use also measures fat grams, and the chocolate put those through the roof. Hmph. Must try harder.

notyummy · 28/04/2011 18:01

Sorry - I dont think L1 is the hardest. Level 2 probably I think - although overall the cardo is hardest in L3, particularly for the last 2 circuits if you do all the jumping stuff Natalee style.

TooTiredToArgue · 28/04/2011 18:07

I agree, Level 2 the hardest for me.

Just checking in: Level 3, Day 7 (I think, but have lost count really) done. Managed half the mountain climbers and had a feeble attempt at proper jumping lunges . Did almost all the rock star jumps, so feeling semi-pleased with myself. The feeling afterwards is the best bit....

Such a beautiful evening here. Almost felt like going for a jog, except that I hate jogging (and have shredded after all!) Smile

knottyhair · 28/04/2011 18:29

Another vote here for Level 2 as the hardest. The v raises still just feel a bit... odd. And I hate the military press things on one leg.

Momentarynamechange · 28/04/2011 19:15

Definitely level 2 gets my vote! The twist jumps immediately followed by the skater move just do me in. And the v-raises...

No Shredding today, felt a twinge in my ankle yesterday so probably for the best.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Apparently there's some wedding or something tomorrow? Anyone heard anything about it? Grin

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 28/04/2011 19:30

Wedding? I'll be shredding! Just done my 5th day, decided to go for L2. Those v raises!!! Had to drop the weights down on the 2nd set, the rest of it wasn't too bad, although the squat thrusts took me down an unpleasant time tunnel back to my school gym days. Shall weigh and measure tomorrow and see whether the first week has done anything, after the pain of the first 2 days it better of done!

Jacksterbear · 28/04/2011 19:34

I'm finding L2 v hard (d7 done - first time through the shred so have not yet done L3). All the plank stuff is a killer! Also the thing with L1 was that you got to the end of circuit 3 strength and thought it's easy from here on in, whereas the cardiovascular and Abs bits in L2 circuit 3 are the worst bit! I do actually really like the military press one leg thing though!

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 28/04/2011 19:45

I think it's horses for courses, as I find the cardio stuff and the abs easier, but L2 is definitely a step up as you are constantly engaging your leg muscles, I like the military presses and the good thing is that as you get fitter you can increase the weights. Mind you I've only done one session on L2, so if I can't move tomorrow, I reserve my right to take back everything I've said.

knitknack · 28/04/2011 20:55

L1D4 (so ok, not very far in) but i've got BIGGER! ??!! huh? I was all good and everything and took measurements before we started and each one is about .5" bigger! And it's not like I've lost weight or anything either :(

BUT, I have to say, I feel brilliant that I'm still doing it, and that it's getting a wee bit easier - i want to be STRONG (said in J's voice)

Did anyone else find they got bigger/heavier when they first started??

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 28/04/2011 21:58

When you start using your muscles intensively you do get additional water retention. You should drink loads, your body stops panicking about a lack of water and it all evens itself out, this might explain why your measurements have gone up

ThisisaSignofthetimes · 28/04/2011 22:05

Actually I've googled and it's not water retention, but post exercise swelling caused by the muscles reaction to being torn as you exercise. the tears are what is supposed to happen and as they repair the muscle becomes stronger. I don't know how to link but this website has some interesting stuff on it www.live strong.com
