STEPPING IN FOR NORMA

Welcome one and all to our 5th thread

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place! :)

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week.

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or Brew and make yourself at home :)

Hi, my weekly post - I am so crap!!! Hope your Mum is OK Piffle and you find out more today! Stressful times.

NoWay - get well - sounds grim - start a fresh next week just get yourself feeling better - whatever that takes.

Had a great day at the beach yesterday and we had a supper of fish & chips before we left last night - was so nice - I have not had fish and chips since starting WW at the end of November, it tasted soooo good.

I used all my weeklies this week but still had 10 activity points left and WI this morning I lost 1lb so very very happy and only 1lb to go to goal!!! Also my husband has booked us a week in the sun at the end of the month so can't wait. Am hoping I will have reached goal by then and I then plan to have a week totally off plan and really enjoy myself. Only problem is I have NO clothes that fit - even my bras don't fit! Could be interesting....

Catch up later and good luck with any WI's and am so impressed with the stats Androbob, that is amazing...

LittleFriendSusan · 11/04/2011 11:12

NWNH - cross posted. Sorry to hear you're ill again. Tonsilitis sucks - I used to get it all the time, but thankfully not for a few years...

I would just write off the last few days and start afresh - try not to go too overboard! Make sure you're getting all your vitamins etc to help you feel better, but don't stress about it - if you're ill, you're ill! I think sometimes you need to lapse a bit to make you get back on track & full of enthusiasm again...

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/04/2011 14:15

loopy i would never eat a bs ever but have had chocolate cake with beetroot in it

piffle sorry to hear about your mum :( but glad back is better :)

noway sorry to hear you are ill :( speedy recovery

lfs good luck with wi in

claire wow at 5hrs gardening, well done

lou beach sounds lovely and well done for losing a lb

oooh loubou sooooo close to goal - go for it girl and get there next week - its only an ickle ickle pound - you can do that! Faberoony! I will get thereone day myself - blondes is getting close and I am sure someone else was as well! I will be very lonely sitting on my own spreadsheet being the only one not quite there yet!

I have a do to go to on 6th May - a Naming Ceremony and it is also our 10th wedding annoversary, so would like to be half a stone lighter by then. Once I have got Tues and Wed out of the way this week (school hols) then I will be going for it very strict and very harsh to get there! I am also doing a Zumba class tomorrow night - done it twice before but not at the gym so will be interesting to see how this one is!

Had an average lunch but used too many PP so only having sitr fry with `chicken breast for tea.

Will be better tomorow!

Going to a Brewers Fayre with the Evil One on Wed - not sure what is suitable on the menu tthere - will have to google later. Possibly just have a salad!!

Back Later - need to update spreadsheet from last week.....may be some time as kiddies want entertaining!

SueSylvesterforPM · 11/04/2011 14:55

my first meeting tonight

pop my weight watchers cherry lol

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 11/04/2011 15:29

Piffle sorry you're going through this with your Mum, hoope Angiogram has gone OK. What I wouldn't do for someone to serve me up your dinner tonight with out me having to do it, sounds lovely.

Noway sorry to hear you're ill, hope you feel better very soon. WW will still be here in a bit when things have improved.

Littlefriendsusan, Pavlova sounds gorgeous ! I really like the WW cream but have run out and it's a bit of a trek to get any from here atm.

Clairedeloon Gardening is fab for racking up activity points I find. Allotment looking very neat and tidy as keep hoeing and raking and cutting grass to earn points.

Loublout well done on the loss, does it feel really good to be that near goal, I can only imagine from where I am atm !

Androbbob I will be here for the foreseeable to keep you company.

SuSylvester welcome and hope tonight goes well.

Think I've got worms, am still majorly hungry. Might be that have upped my exercise, been doing more gardening and increased my swim up to 80 lengths. Still have 7 weeklies left and 25 exercise points but don't want to touch them as WI Thursday morning. But flipping heck, I could eat a horse, or a cow, well anything really but have settled on a Solero.

SueSylvesterforPM · 11/04/2011 16:03

wynken thankyou I hope it does

loubloutwinmum · 11/04/2011 16:26

Thank you ladies - you are so supportive and have really helped me over the last 5 months. Androbob I am going to try my best to shift that last pound this week - got a very busy week so that should help. Am off to Zumba tonight and have a very low fat tea planned. However, kids are off school so will be lots of temptations.

Wyken I can't believe I am so close to goal really - I feel really good and really sure that I can keep the weight off. I have been overweight since I had my twins really (so 8+ years) and I was probably a good stone & half overweight when I got pregnant. So this is the lightest I have been in a decade! So have faith and keep going as this plan does work and you will get there too.

Welcome Susylvestor - good luck...

Piffle · 11/04/2011 17:10

Mum has her angiogram the the angioplasty straight afterwards the blockage has been cleared, she can go home tomorrrow to stop smoking and heal!

Dinner ladies is EASY
Bung one onion, chopped coriander, cumin, mixed spice, pinch cayenne pepper and lean mince into a food processor (or finely chop and mix by hand)
Form into balls, shallow fry in olive oil
Get pitta, stuff with salad
Blend one garlic clove and a few mints leaves into some low fat natural yoghurt, slosh on some chilli sauce and done!

Minus the chilli, the younger kids love this too

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 11/04/2011 17:54

Good news about your Mum Piffle. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery for her. Thanks for the recipe, am about to get mince out of freezer and will make that tomorrow. Think DD will like that.

Loublout that's brilliant, a huge well done. I am the lightest I've been since having DD who is ahem 12 now ! Went to shop the other day with wet hair after swimming. Combination of wet hair and weight loss meant a friend I don't get to see often didn't recognise me, she was just coming out of the shop and stared at me really blankly when I said 'just the person I want to see ' as she'd left a message and I needed to speak to her.

Su, don't get sucked into spending lots of money on stuff tonight. There's apps for the iPhone and also for Android phones and you can log onto the WW site and track things from there .

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/04/2011 19:52

suesy welcome

we have all had our cherrys popped lol Grin

piffle hope tom goes well

androbbob · 11/04/2011 20:23

Ok - spreadsheet updated and last week was a loss of 14.5lbs wich brings the thread total since January upto a whopping 147lbs - that is the weight I am aiming to be this year!! Grin

piffle - glad your mum is ok and that dinner sounds great!

suesylvester - good luck for your first meeting and welcome to the thread - pile on in and add your tuppence when you feel ready! We are not a Quiche or a clique!

wynken - loads of exercise going on there I am not surprised you are hungry!

loubou - you need to remind us of your total loss over the 8 years and how long you have taken to get there. Also blondes needs to know your average weekly PP consumption to aid her war against WW!

blondes - hope you have had a good day - you know how we all dread the lead up to Thursday!! Grin

LFSusan - hope you had a good WI tonight! That pavlova sounds lovely.

NoWay - sorry you are unwell again - sounds like you need a few weeks off with peace and quiet and some TLC to get you back to full health. Better get some vitamin C down you!

Been an ok day here - no exercise (unless you count walking around a DIY store looking at bathrooms!) and ok with the food - just need to plan the next few days to keep me going. Falling into the trap of not tracking properly so found a blank tracker so its in the kitchen ready for tomorrow. Going to use the online thing to plan my food for the next four days and then see if I can access it on my phone - if that works it would be great. Otherwise I forget to do it.

On to tomorrow!! Hope the sun shines!

Littlefish · 11/04/2011 20:25

Really sorry I haven't been around much this week. DH has been away, and I've been busy entertaining dd! The good thing about dh being away is that I can eat salad or veg stir fry every night, so I'm hoping for at least 1lb off when I weigh in tomorrow.

SueSylvester - welcome! I hope your first meeting goes well.

Androbbob - don't worry about being the last one on the spreadsheet. That dubious honor will definitely go to me Smile

*Loublout - how fantastic to be so near your goal weight. Will you stop there, or try and lose a few more lbs?

Blondes - your meal sounded absolutely delicious. I couldn't even begin to point it up for you though, my calculator would burst into flames!

IHeartIona · 11/04/2011 21:46

Hello all
Fraid I can't possibly catch up with all the posts since end of last week, what a talkative bunch!! New thread soon? Wonder who'll get last post...
Have my 2nd cold in a row, this one bit sinussy and headachey and can't taste or smell. Not really managing to eat well this week as feeling crap. Might start again after WI on Thurs

Piffle sorry to hear about your mum, great news she can go home soon though

LittleFriendSusan · 11/04/2011 22:28

Just checking in quickly to say I lost 3lb! Well chuffed :)

Blondes don't shoot me, but that was all dailies, all weeklies + 22 activity points... possibly more as I said earlier, as I didn't track at all on Friday. I did STS last week though and has been very slow these last few weeks. Also have upped the exercise this week with starting C25K.

So I got my first stone and went down into the next stone bracket. Just 2lb off my 10% goal too so all in all a very good week! I have just celebrated with a Malteaster bunny Grin.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 12/04/2011 07:36

Good luck Littlefish.

IheartIona and anyone else feeling ill, hope you feel better very soon.

littlefriend, fab loss, you've given me hope as have now eaten all my weeklies and am onto my activities which was not the plan.

Think the hunger must be a reaction to the exercise, have been constantly on the go sorting out greenhouse, sowed loads of stuff etc and am gearing myself up to a swim in a minute, haven't been early for years.

SueSylvesterforPM · 12/04/2011 08:31

Good stuff Littlefriend

hey all first ever meeting

I went to my first meeting last night,
seemed okay my meeting leader is quite firm.
which I suppose is good :)
need to get my handson the shop guide, is is on the website??

its all new im wondering how Im gonna eat that many points in a day tbh lol
my target is a stone first
Not helped im having a rought time at home I hope it doesnt curb my efforts I'll use it as more of a challenge.

benbon · 12/04/2011 08:47

hay SUE, beleive me if i can do it you can do it!!! ive got wi this morning... got butterflys already, hate this bit!! oh well will report back later!!!!

hmc · 12/04/2011 10:20

Well done loublout and littlefriendsusan on your losses (androbbob - I too will be around for a bit longer since I still have a stone and a bit to go)

Get well soon iheartiona and noway - its pants feeling ill!

Glad your mum is to be discharged Piffle, I hope she recovers quickly

Not much to report here...weigh in due tomorrow and currently busy trying to survive easter hols!

ClaireDeLoon · 12/04/2011 10:29

littlefriend that's a great loss well done :o

Piffle good news about your mum :) hope she's home now

lou I hope you get to goal this week - must be a fantastic feeling

Androb that's about the weight I'm aiming for too - 146lbs is my goal to put me at bmi=25 :o

Iona hope you feel better soon - two colds in a row sucks

Sue welcome, I don't find I use the shopping guide - if you're a pay monthly member you can use the website (or an iPhone app if you have one) to look up the points values/calculate points

benbon good luck with WI and littlefish good luck for tomorrow

wynken sounds like lots of activity points, swimming always makes me hungry whereas other exercise doesn't

I've been a pig this week I think, ate loads of activity points from gardening as well as all my weeklies and haven't shredded all week. So I think will be a rubbish weigh in as TOTM too. Not until Thursday though.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 12/04/2011 11:07

Clairedeloon, swam this morning and seem to have got myself a personal trainer. He reckons swimming makes you more hungry and you need to mix it up with resistance plus swim in sets, not just plod doing breast stroke as I've been doing. Left my number at reception for him, how dodgy did that feel, er please can I leave a message to a guy in the pool, he's going to help me with my stokes ! He's just set up a studio not far from here so am thinking of having a couple of sessions a week for May, June, July.

hmc · 12/04/2011 11:11

Was he fit? Wink

loubloutwinmum · 12/04/2011 11:13

Thanks for all the positive comments ladies and encouragement.

Wynken it is rather nice when people you haven't seen for a while don't recognise you. I bumped into an old University friend and hadn't seen her since we were 24 (only a few years ago obviously - well 13 but who's counting). She was so nice and kept saying I didn't look any different, how have I done it etc... I just kept thinking, glad I hadn't bumped into her over the last decade, may have been a bit different!

Androbob - You asked for my story, so here goes! Was a nice size 12 when I got married (never been a skinny bird, got bum and boobs) and I slowly creeped up to a 14. When I fell pregnant with twins I only put on 2 stone and when I had the girls, I lost it quite easily. However, the weight just slowly crept on - twins were hard work and I just grabbed food when I could and didn't really care what I ate. I joined WW summer 2006 and lost a stone but then stopped because I couldn't sustain the old plan. Basically I have done nothing since then and just got bigger but because I am tall I carry it quite well. However, things came to a head in November 2010 and I just decided enough was enough - size 16 was too small and I weighed myself and was 15 stone, felt crap and out of control with my eating! I joined WW online and love the new plan and have stuck to it - a few blips on the way but to date I have lost 2stone 12lbs in under 5 months and only 1lb away from goal. There you go - will stop boring you now!

Blondes - my stats show I use an average of 30 daily pp, 25 weekly pp and earn 9.5 activity points (could do better there).

Littlefish - Although I am only 1lb from goal I would like to lose an extra few pounds to take me into 11 stone something - I am 5ft 10 so that is great for me.

Littlefriendsusan -Well done on getting to first stone - that is brilliant.

Piffle - Really glad your Mum is home.

ClaireDeLoon - will try really hard to reach goal this week but it is our wedding anniversary this weekend and we are going out for a meal. I did Zumba last night and it was really tough so that will have helped but will report back, whether good or bad with my weigh in Monday morning.

What a long post from me - sorry! Hope you are all doing OK and have good WI's this week....

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 12/04/2011 13:02

Loublout, that's extremely impressive in 5 months, well done .

HMC, yes very. Strangely enough DH asked me the same question !

LolaLadybird · 12/04/2011 14:24

Sympathies to those of you who are poorly. NoWay - I've suffered lots with tonsilitis and 'tis very grim. You just need to concentrate on getting better but take heart - I defy anyone to put on weight consuming only soup, porridge and juice! Wink

SueSylvester - I pay for a monthly pass for meetings and so use esource to track my points and weight loss. Much easier to track points accurately than on paper imo.

Androbob - I'm impressed with your story and taking heart from it. I am a size 16 but also carry it well because I'm tall (somehow makes it easier to kid yourself everything's OK!) but have decided enough is enough. I think I also have about 2 stone to lose but haven't been give a goal weight yet as only 3 wks in and still currently focussing on the 5 and 10% targets.

So WI this morning and I've lost 3 lbs - hurrah! V pleased after last week's dismal half a pound loss. Only ate 29 of weeklies and also clocked up 13 activity points (over and above my regular 2 runs which I don't count as was already doing them before starting WW) which I didn't touch so all v gratifying. Benbon - know what you mean about the butterflies, I actually dreamt about WI last night!!

Have celebrated loss consuming coffee and cake with a couple of friends that I don't see very often - lovely. Am now being slack mummy whilst DC's are watching Fantastic Mr Fox (odd film)....
