Welcome one and all to our 5th thread

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! ) Grin and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week.

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in - pour yourself a Wine or Brew and make yourself at home :)

just to report 1lb on for me today - d'oh!
never mind though, think I have sneaked to many non-pointed little treats this week and they have added up. plus TOTM coming so I will be good and try all those low fat pork (and turkey) recipes you've kindly all pointed me towards and the week to come will be a good one!!!

well done for your losses Claire, Wynken, androbbob

LolaLadybird · 07/04/2011 21:28

Thanks for all the welcomes :). Will be waiting to hear how Blondes does tomorrow with baited breath! Am v impressed, by the way, at how you all keep track of each other - seems to be a lot going on!

Went for a run this evening to try and up my activity levels. One of the differences between first and second week was the amount of exercise I did. Tricky food day - sat in a meeting at work and scoffed 2 biscuits (can exercise restraint when something is on offer briefly but not when it sits there on a plate in front of you for half an hour!).

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2011 21:54

Iona sorry you gained - that pesky af has a lot to answer to

Lola if you know there will be biscuits at the office then worth taking your own rich tea/pink and whites or ww biscuits so you can eat but not ruin the diet

androbbob · 07/04/2011 22:14

Ooh some lovely losses this week - wynken, claire and vnmum a STS is ok yes?! Iona only a little pound then - that will be off next week!

Wow - blondes and NoWay meeting up - sounds like you had fun!!

I am donning the hard hat in preparation for blondes WI tomorrow and ducking down!!

Ok I have a question for anyone who runs on a treadmill. I am doing the Couch to 5K rum training and I am on Week 5 day 1. SO how fast should I be running for the 'running bit' - our treadmills are in kmh and I can do 9 for some but have to go down to 8.5 and then 8 towards the end. I walk at 6 to 6.3 and that is ok. Should I be trying to do longer at the higher rate, ot stick as I am? Also incline - I have been doing 1 to 1.5% as I read somewhere that those figures are similar to being outside - any ideas?

hmc · 07/04/2011 23:19

Dunno Androbbob - am no expert, but agree that 1% incline simulates outside conditions (from what I have googled). Also you could try setting your treadmill to 'random' programme - which does a good mix of incline versus 0% gradient. Interval training is s'posed to be good for increasing your stamina -so try that? I always used to aspire to 10 minute miles so 6mph or 10kms per hour...tbh I rarely achieved that, when at my fittest I would sustain 9.5kms per hour over 5 miles. It doesn't really matter how fast you run as long as you are out of breath and a bit sweaty imo (and enjoy it)! I have been a bit phobic about running since a BBC breakfast piece critiquing David C Cameron's running style a couple of weeks ago!

Incidentally no weigh in information for your spreadsheet this week - i missed my class because I had to watch dd in a school production of Wind in the Willows last night (she had trivial part and I had to watch 70 minutes of other peep's kids before she graced the stage [spits in venomous, bitter way]. It's a burden being a type A personality - am so competitive Blush.

Sorry all for not commenting on your individual posts -can't catch up on last 72 hours. Hope everyone is doing okay - will check in tomorrow. The only way to keep up with this thread is daily checking!

hmc · 07/04/2011 23:22

Typo - I don't think David Cameron has a middle name beginning with 'C'

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/04/2011 23:30

hmc don't you mean check hourly Grin

'passes hard hats in antispation'

Fire in the hole!!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/04/2011 00:02

(Slips back in on thread hopefully unnoticed)
Morning all, sorry I disappeared for a while there. Had a few things to take care of. Unfortunately it also involved not sticking to the plan. Back on track today :) but resided myself to not do well this week :(

Good Luck Blondes I'm wearing my hard hat ducked behind the sofa, with everything crossed.

NoWayNoHow · 08/04/2011 07:18

Morning!
WI on Tuesday, but changed WI day to Friday so WI again today - sts (absolutely acceptable for 3 days later!) so will see how I get on next weekend!
Back later to catch up on thread.

wizzler · 08/04/2011 08:03

Good luck Blondes

Piffle · 08/04/2011 09:03

Can think of a middle name for David Cameron beginning with C Grin

WI showed I'd gained 100gms
Mostly as I have been unable to move for 3 days I guess
And proof that demolishing weeklies ( even if the evening of WI thinking you have the whole week to fix it) doesn't pay.
So a calmer weekend, if eating out I'll stick to sensible choices and limit booze.
I hope to lose over this weekend
Back feels a lot better I think it was a dislocation that's relocated.
So gentle walking will get done...
Now after being all ME ME ME

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/04/2011 09:06

piffle sorry you gained a little :( im not good with grams, is that like 1/2lb?

hmc · 08/04/2011 09:35

Well done Blondes - two weeks running! you're on a roll

Ah bad luck Piffle - tis only a tiny amount though, pretty much the same as an STS? Glad your back is feeling better but don't overdo it

CLB1 - I too went off track this week for a day. Think that's okay though as long as you get on mission again Smile. Neither us of will have done much damage I am sure

Piffle · 08/04/2011 09:37

Fab news blondes!!!!

NoWayNoHow · 08/04/2011 09:39

AND it's safe to return!

Firstly, well done blondes - another lb down!

IHeart sorry that you gained, TOTM is a total bi-aaatch. Don't forget to track those little snacks though - as the WW mantra goes, if you cheat a little you're only cheating yourself!

androbob I'd love to give advice on running/running machines, but I'd rather stick pins in my knee caps that pound the streets - it's my worst nightmare! (slipped disc, dodgy ankle and knee surgery have probably affected my judgment on the matter Wink)

clb some days WW or any othr kind of eating plan just doesn't fit into your life. Some days you need to take a break and just live without controlling and tracking. I find that if I'm really down about something, I almost NEED to absolve myself of the responsibility of everything, and that includes monitoring every morsel I put in my mouth. The important thing is to give yourself a time limit of how long yuo're going to come out of tracking for, and go back to it the next day (like you've done). We're not perfect, and we're not robots.

piffle glad to hear you're feeling a bit better, and don't worry about a 100g gain - that's the equivalent of two small handfuls of dried pasta, and if you were going in lbs at a meeting, that would have registered as a sts. I'm sure you'll see a loss next week once you've started walking again.

Spring cleaning today, although I REALLY don't feel like it. At least it's slightly easier to get moving when it's sunny, and I'm looking forward to collecting NoWayBoy from nursery on the bike again - so much more fun (and cheaper!) than a car!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/04/2011 09:43

and cycling burns pp noway rather then paying for petrol :)

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 08/04/2011 09:53

Exactly, blondes rather burn fat than money!

Willabywallaby · 08/04/2011 10:55
