Brilliant Melbob, that's really good. I have two Christmas dos this week so not expecting any miracles either.

I know I'm not overweight medically or anything and I do sometimes wonder why I am still bothering, but everything I read says that I am at the very top end of okay for % fat, weight for height, hip:waist ratio etc. So I would just like to get a bit lower.

puff · 12/12/2005 23:42

Melbob - brilliant - well done !

Saker, I know what you mean about wanting to be at the lower end of your ideal range - this is where I'm hoping to be eventually to give me some leeway for "seasonal" variations like Christmas!

I didn't think my sister needed to lose any weight (size 10), but she said she didn't feel comfortable which is fair enough as she has a small frame.

Thanks Puff

I know it can be a bit frustrating if someone keeps going on about their weight and you don't feel they need to lose any and I don't usually tell people in RL that I am on a diet. The other reason I would like to lose a bit more is that at the moment I seem to fall between dress sizes, so size 12 is often too big but size 10 is just that bit too tight and it seems perverse to try and gain to fit into a 12!

puff · 13/12/2005 15:51

Ok, I braved the scales and my non stop eating weekend means I've put on 2lbs.

So, must be very good this week with Christmas looming.

Saker I don't want you to think I think you'e irritating! I was just wondering, the important thing is that you "feel right in your skin". A friend of mine who lost 5 stone and couldn't shift the last three quarters she wanted to did pilates lost a few more punds and dropped 2 dress sizes.

Puff I bet you'll lose the two pounds quickly a lot of it will be water.

First christmas do tomorrow lunchtime am going to have big bowl of porridge for breakfast to fill me up.

puff · 13/12/2005 20:00

Good idea melbob - I think I will do porridge every morning this week

Got wrong day Xmas lunch next week!!

puffoeufnog · 19/12/2005 10:42

had a result this week as I've lost 4 and a half pounds .

So managed to get rid of the 2 I gained on my weekend away, plus some more. Hurrah!

I'm going to try and be really sensible through to Friday. Then Christmas Eve for 3 days I am just going to enjoy eating and assess the damage on the 27th !

Saker · 19/12/2005 11:16

Brilliant Puff - that's fantastic . I daren't weigh this week after a bad week with two nights out and various other indulgences. I am also going to try to be good this week in preparation for three days of eating whatever next weekend. So I will weigh in on Saturday morning.

franch · 19/12/2005 16:32

Hello hello hello, just found this thread, can I join? Have been trying to eat low GI for a couple of weeks now, lost 3.5lb the 1st week, 0.5lb the 2nd. Had DD2 3.5 months ago, need to lose about a stone but slowly because of breastfeeding. Aiming for 1lb a week. Haven't managed to read whole thread yet and may do more lurking than posting but what are everyone's plans for Xmas Day etc.?

puffoeufnog · 19/12/2005 17:01

Welcome franch

tbh Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day, I am just going to have whatever I fancy, but not go mad. So I'll have a mince pie, but not 2 , and I'll have roast potatoes, but again be sensible quantity wise.

I Know I will put on some weight, but also now I can lose it easily, getting back on track with GI - it will also be a relief because I feel better generally when I stic to GI principles.

Good idea about weighing in Sat Saker - I will do the same.

franch · 19/12/2005 17:15

Will def weigh in on Sat - v good idea

melbob · 19/12/2005 20:07

Well done Puff thats fantastic. I have lost another pound which I am chuffed with as I went to a wedding on fri pm and out for a curry sat and had 2 Xmas lunches. Plan is to stay the same this week and was going to weigh too on Sat am.

Puff just thought does that mean you've lsot a stone??

franch · 19/12/2005 20:30

How time-consuming are the AWT recipes by the way? I like cooking but have no time for it these days with a 3mo and 2yo. The recipes in the Helen Foster book are very snappy indeed but I wouldn't mind making something a bit more yummy.

melbob · 19/12/2005 21:47

Most of the AWT are ok we had the morroccan lamb and pumpkin and it was delicious

puffoeufnog · 19/12/2005 22:00

Well done melbob

I think it's 11.5lbs since the start of the thread - If I hadn't had my foodie weekend away, I'd have just about hit the stone - ah well never mind, it was worth it !

The AWT recipes are lovely and not overly time consuming franch.

melbob · 20/12/2005 19:46

Thanks Puff. Sounds like your weekend was worth it.

Saker · 20/12/2005 21:16

well done Melbob - that's very good. I don't think I will be able to admit my total weight loss on Saturday - the best I am hoping for is to have stayed the same - how pathetic is that .

puffoeufnog · 21/12/2005 16:58

Saker, if I stay the same this week I'll be happy too!

Saker · 21/12/2005 18:21

Puff I meant that I am hoping to have stayed approximately the same over the whole period not just this week .

puffoeufnog · 21/12/2005 18:33

lol Saker, but still fair do's because you are not too far from your target. I'm expecting my last 10lbs or so to be tough to shift.

melbob · 21/12/2005 20:43

If I get through the next fortnght and stay the same I will be delighted. What am I going to do when you have both reached your target and I still have several stone left to go???

Saker · 21/12/2005 20:51

Melbob, I think I may never reach my target, I am one of those people on and off diets for years on end so don't worry I'll be back for company no doubt!

puffoeufnog · 21/12/2005 20:54

melbob, I will be with you all the way .

When I reach my target, I will have to still be vigilant, weigh myself every week and stick to GI principles, so I won't be going anywhere!!

puffoeufnog · 24/12/2005 13:55

Weighing in as promised - stayed the same. Went to the gym this morning in a bid to pre-empt my indulgences over the next couple of days!

Have a good Christmas everyone .
