Hi

Thanks for messages and well dne piffle. Been working long hours plus DS teething (we think) so a few broken nights. Weigh this am back to last weeks don't know what the three pound gain was about.

Think I need to think about some of the psychological stuff around my weight, the weight I am now is were I have got stuck before and looks like I am again.

Sorry!!!!!!!!!!

puff · 10/11/2005 16:17

This has happened to me too melbob, where my weight stuck at particular points. I've had a month here and there where I went up and down, but basically stayed the same.

Keep going, we're here to support you .

Thanks Puff. Had a good day today despite temptation of biscuits and sandwiches in meetings. Stuck to fruit and bean salad

Saker · 10/11/2005 21:08

Well done Melbob. It's so much harder when the food's there in front of you than when you just don't have it in the house and it isn't even an option.

Also I used to find at work that other people resented me not joining in with the general cake gobbling because it seems like a silent criticism of their behaviour. And it's always difficult if someone brings in a birthday cake or something which can be quite frequently in a large office.

piffle · 11/11/2005 14:51

mmm how nice are nairns mini oatcakes with guacamole on a gloomy afternoon.
Also made AWT's hungarian goulash last night with cavolo nero and brown basmati rice was ACE!
DS DP and I all liked it!

puff · 12/11/2005 10:54

Ooh, yes, the goulash is lovely!

I am very into all the Nairn stuff at the mo - there are some lovely fruit oat biscuits (med GI), about 40 cals each - a lovely treat with a cuppa as they are wheat free and wheat stops me losing weight.

Hope everyone is doing ok .

Lost 1.5 pounds, so 6lbs since the start of this thread.

How's everyone else?

OP posts:
Saker · 14/11/2005 11:00

Well done Puff, that's really good .

I didn't lose any. Bit disappointed because I weighed on Saturday morning and I had appeared to have lost another 2 pounds. However it had gone back up by this morning . I went out on Sat night and the food was a very non-GI buffet - all deep fried type spring rolls that sort of thing. However I have been very good the rest of the time so I wouldn't have thought that would have that much effect.

Oh well, onwards and see what happens next week.

puff · 14/11/2005 11:05

Saker, you haven't gained, which is still positive. Good luck for next week .

Hi

Well done both of you. Puff as ever you are an inspiration and Saker if it was only the one evening I am sure it will come off again very quickly.

I have stayed the same again which is getting irritating as I have been sticking to low GI. However I do fele much more positive about it today and a couple of people have said at workt hey ahve noticed I have lost weight.

Also my clothes are deinitely looser. I put on my buig winter coat for the first time this year and it felt a lot looser and I was walking along the road back to my office when my skirt fell to the pavement!!!!!!!!! Thank goodnes my coat is very long!!!!

puff · 14/11/2005 20:46

When people start noticing the weight loss you know you are on the right track .

Hi can I maybe join am breastfeeding so thought it might be quite a good diet to go with as basically healthy - cant start just yet thought too much choc in the fridge Haven't got the book yet which is the best one aren't there loads (skimmed the thread sos)?

melbob · 14/11/2005 21:58

welcome pookey. The consensus seems to be that best books are the Helen Foster or Rick Gallup and Anthony Worrall Thompson for vv nice things.

pookey · 14/11/2005 22:15

Anthony W T really!

Saker · 14/11/2005 22:29

Melbob

Well done, it does sound like you have lost even if the scales aren't showing it yet.

You know you're on the right track when your skirt falls offf

puff · 15/11/2005 09:17

pookey, the awt book has some gorgeous recipes in it

OP posts:
Saker · 15/11/2005 11:17

Yes I really like it. I have just borrowed his family food book from the library also and that's not bad although not particularly GI of course. I don't like him much myself either but I have to say the food is good.

pookey · 15/11/2005 12:21

Will have to check his book out - he really is annoying though

What about a fruit platter grumpy and some cheese? You can have a bit of full fat cheese, or more cottage.

I'd say a stone before Christmas is quite ambitious, why not aim for 8lbs and anything over is a bonus?

I use the AWT for nicer dinners, but I've had to put black electricians tape over the pictures of his face because I just want to punch him.
