will put that on my Amazon wish list, buying on Amazon UK is still cheaper than the bookstore here in Oz

Well done Puff! You are staying well on track .

I didn't lose any again this week. Not really sure why as I have been pretty good and "feel" a bit thinner. It does seem hard going at the moment.

Saker, although I've lost, I'm finding it hard going at the mo. I'm sure my body rebels against losing it's fat stores in the winter!

Bought a nice organic muesli the other day - it's called Pertwood Farm organic muesli with fruits and seeds. No added sugar - contains oat flakes, sultanas, barley flakes, rye barley flakes and kibbles, chopped apricot, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and linseeds. Just mention for anyone who doesn't feel like making their own or wants something to take on holiday.

maomao · 28/11/2005 18:52

puff, thanks for the book title, as well as the list of recipes! They sound lovely.

monkeytrousers · 28/11/2005 20:08

I got the Helen Foster book on ebay. Diet starts when it arrives. Do I have to admit my exact weight before? I think I'm about 10 and a half. Ideal is 9 stone.

melbob · 28/11/2005 20:15

hurray I lost 2lbs this week despite Mum's sabitage for which she apologised today! I can't tell you how relieved I am. ^Think the reducing carbs has worked. Well done everyone else.

Eaney · 28/11/2005 20:16

Anyone know what the GI index would be to this recipe. A guess is welcome.

1 cup porridge oats
1 cup white flour
1 cup brown flour
Qtr cup sugar
2tbls golden syrup
2 eggs
1 cup semi skimmed milk

It is very nice and fills you up for ages. I suspect you coul use 2 cups brown flour.

Thanks

puff · 28/11/2005 20:46

Brilliant melbob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am soooo pleased for you!!!!!!!

grumpy, the recipe is loooooooong, not difficult as such, just a lot to type out.

If you want to CAT me, I can send a photocopy if you like.

Hooray Melbob - excellent news .

Eaney, I can't guess the GI but I would suspect there is too much flour and sugar in there for it to be low. Sounds nice though.

I think I've got a book with advice on this, will look

OP posts:
puff · 29/11/2005 09:56

Hmmm, all the chinese stuff I love is high GI

Here's the advice:

Low GI choices:

clear soups
strir fried vegetables
baked and grilled fish
stir fried chicken
dishes made with tofu
savoury sauces such as soy, oyster sauce, ginger and garlic

High GI to avoid

any white rice or noodles
sesame prawn toast
dim sum
spring rolls
sweet & sour dishes
the pancakes with crispy duck
toffee apple/banana

The thing is, its difficult to avoid any rice or noodles, so just don't have too much
