Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

OP posts:
flatmouse · 10/02/2011 13:38

Level 2 seems to be mostly about upper body though doesn't it - core and shoulders. Hoping to do Level 2 day 4 when i get home. Managing to do slightly more each time. Calf still troubling though :(

kkey21 · 10/02/2011 13:43

I have hidden my scales now until March as it was pi**ing me off!

I have just completed day 2 of Level 3....taken my time on the last bit as i have also decided to pop back to the gym and zumba once a week too.

I aim to dust off the scales in March and see. Meanwhile in total from day 1 of Shred i have lost 11" from main areas of my body, but my size 12's are still tight! Although 14's too big!

BalloonSlayer · 10/02/2011 14:29

I have just done Level 3, Day 5.

I don't like Level 3. It makes me feel useless. I liked Level 2 the best. < petulant >

I really can't do the thing when you are in plank holding the weights and lift an arm then a leg. I can just about do it with no weights but even then I am suffering.

On the positive side

I do feel taller and slimmer (although the former may well be down to my new boots Grin) despite not having lost any weight to speak of.

I keep admiring my much flatter stomach, and if I press into my lower tummy I can feel it is rock hard underneath the layer of fat.

Momentarynamechange · 10/02/2011 15:01

Just done last day of level 3 and that's it for this week.

I wish my thighs would get smaller! I'm pretty sure I've slimmed/toned my tummy/waist/bum, but that makes my thighs look even bigger!!!

With all the lunges etc. you do in this, can your thighs actually get smaller or am I eventually going to end up looking like an olympic javelin thrower lol Am scaring myself and every time I look down on them (calves too), they seem to be inflating!

Ah, feels good to have got that out, can you tell I have an issue with my thighs? Grin

Have a great weekend ladies Smile

LostGirl · 10/02/2011 15:17

I have issues with my thighs too threesteps, they are always the last places to show a change. Have you measured them so you can at least reassure yourself they are not getting massively large? You will not bulk up by doing squats and lunges. I am up to squatting with 30kg at the moment and my thighs have never been smaller, they are always going to be my largest point unfortunately but they look a lot better than they were! Your calves may well look larger because some of the fat will have been 'burnt off' around it, making it look more defined and as though it is 'sticking out' more, if that makes sense. Remember also that straight after a work out the muscles are generally temporarily inflated in size due to the exertion. This is why men like to pose in the mirror and take pictures immediately post workout because they know that size is not going to last long Grin

javotte · 10/02/2011 15:21

balloonslayer my abs are also stronger under the fat!
threestepsforward I feel the same about my thighs... But even at my slimmest (size 8) they were a size bigger than the rest of my body.

Momentarynamechange · 10/02/2011 16:04

Thanks for listening to the rantings of a mad woman Lostgirl and Javotte Smile

Grin at the image of a load of sweaty men on a mad dash for mirror with camera immediately post-workout!

You know I haven't measured myself at all throughout this Shred process, but I think I will use a dressing gown cord or something to measure my thighs so I can show myself I'm being a twit!

herbaceous · 10/02/2011 16:38

Can I join the thigh-haters club? When I was thin, they were still huge, making getting jeans to fit a nightmare. Now I'm fatter, the rest of me has caught up with them, but they're hideous and flabby. And I've got fat knees. In fact, all this exercise seems to be making the fat looser, and even more repellent. And they rub together more than they used to! Ugh Ugh Ugh.

And Balloonslayer - I hate level 3 too. It makes me stamp my feet. Anita versions are a bit too easy, Natalie versions far too hard. Then again, I wasn't a big fan of level 2!

flatmouse · 10/02/2011 17:47

Gosh that was hard work! My biggest moan at moment is disgusting flabby belly - even tho experience tells me it will look worse before it looks better.
Cankles seem to be slimming but that could just be wishful Rose tinted glasses!
It's my self imposed weekly weigh and measure tomorrow so I'll know then.

DontCallMeBaby · 10/02/2011 21:49

I decided to skip my tenth day of Level 2 and go for Level 3. That was fun ... I think I like it, but then I like a change. I have a bit of an issue with the superman move in that I can't actually get my chest off the floor, but I have G-cup boobs, so it's a bit of a challenge - I notice there's not much daylight visible between Natalie's boobs and the floor. On a related note, despite having seen all you Level 3ers talking about jumping I rather unwisely wore my pre-weightloss sports bra, and it just didn't quite cut it. However I'm happy to note that Jillian's crop top seemed to be coping rather better than in Level 2.

Beetroot Head well in evidence by the start of the second circuit. Blush

febes · 11/02/2011 00:11

Completed day 6 level 1 so only 1 day off this week. I am still finding the first circuit very challenging but managing to do most the 2nd and 3rd circuit completely. I am noticing a big differnce in my body shape and I look forward to shredding but still finding it really hard. I got my sports bra today though so felt more comfy jumping around.

Lollypolly · 11/02/2011 02:21

I did day 4 of level 1 yesterday and I'm with you febes, finding the first circuit (especially that skipping - urgh!) really tough, then getting easier - still warning up I guess?

Did a hour of pilates too on Mon and Thurs - enjoying the tired abs and it's all getting a bit easier although quads are killing me - stairs are not my friend Smile

Going on holiday at the end of the month but found out that I can download Jillian on to my iphone level by level from itunes - no excuses Wink

febes · 11/02/2011 04:47

Glad its not just me! I guess I just have to try and do a bit more every day. Feeling good tonight so going on a walk with my friend we walk for about an hour and 1/4. Feel very virtus as its friday night. Better than a bottle of wine!!

javotte · 11/02/2011 07:39

I haven't lost anything this week. Not a single pound, not even half an inch anywhere. I haven't had a single treat for 16 weeks! What am I doing wrong???

flatmouse · 11/02/2011 08:04

Oh Javotte :(
How do you feel if you ignore scales and tape measure?
What's your eating/drinking like generally? I've made a huge effort this week to increase veg and reduce carbs. Are you drinking lots of water?

Feel really guilty in my little excitement now!

Week 2 scores on the doors:
Overall inch loss from start (if we take into account the fact i have 2 legs and assume inch loss on right leg is similar to that on left leg).... 18.5 inches.
Overall weight loss...... 3lbs (how i wish that were more!)

I have done this daily and think perhaps i need a day off soon! Yesterday was a real struggle. Will try my day 15 (level 2) shortly, then off to physio to hopefully sort my calf so i can start to go running again. (Have high hopes from reading other's comments that my running will improve through the strengthening of doing shredding).

febes · 11/02/2011 08:13

I've decided to register for the city to surf 12k! It's on the 27th of March so I have a goal to work towards.
Better get shredding!!

southeastastra · 11/02/2011 08:14

javotte i have been doing shred for about 25 days now and am on day 6 of level 3. To be honest i haven't lost anything either but feel so much fitter and muscles are getting defined, don't have so much of an over hang!

stick with it

flatmouse · 11/02/2011 08:14

Also Javotte, if you haven't had a treat for 16 weeks, maybe it's about time you did! Our bodies get used to a "diet" - every so often you need to shake it up a bit.

BalloonSlayer · 11/02/2011 08:15

Sympathy (((hug))) for Javotte.

It's dispiriting, isn't it?

If it's any consolation, I am the same. I only had soup and bread (oh ok and a bit of ice cream) for tea last night. Woke up this morning feeling long lean and fit. Almost fancied myself I was so pleased with what I looked like in the mirror Blush . . . got on the scales, HEAVIER than yesterday. Angry

I guess I shall have to be satisfied with looking better (to myself . . . I doubt anyone else has noticed. ) I do notice a more defined and toned

) (

shape when I look in the mirror.

javotte · 11/02/2011 08:18

Flatmouse don't worry, I'm still happy with the overall loss! I don't eat carbs or fat. Lean meat, egg whites, fat-free fromage frais and lots and lots of veg! I do drink a lot (still bf 16 mo DD)

javotte · 11/02/2011 08:32

What's more I have bigger concerns. DH has lost his job, it's his last day today, and we don't know what we are going to do. I could really do with a slice of cake right now...

herbaceous · 11/02/2011 08:38

Ditto! I've been trying to stick to 1,200-1,400 calories a day, and shredding most days, but in the past week I seem to have PUT ON two pounds!

It's really annoying, and a bit scary - does this mean that my metabolism is so slow that as I get older and older I'm going to be able to eat one boiled egg and an apple each day to avoid ballooning into Jabba the Hut?

greenfig · 11/02/2011 10:05

If it's weight loss you want I can recommend Dukan. I lost over a stone & found it really easy. It does sound sim. to what a lot of you are doing - low fat, low carb & low sugar, however low fat protein & low fat dairy is pretty unlimited along with most veg so has upped my energy & taken away cravings. There's a good thread on MN to find a diet buddy that really helped me, & so far it's staying off! The plan reintroduces food groups once you're on target so supposedly stabilising metabolism. & I eat lots herb! Anyway has been great for me, have steadily piled on weight since 2nd babe & now it's gone - hurrah! Shred now getting me stronger & toned (I hope) Grin

JelliBelli · 11/02/2011 13:17

UnMN (((hugs)) for javotte.

Stick with it though and you herbaceous. You must have grown muscles in the last week. They are clearly your friend and in the future they, the new muscle, will be consuming extra calories Grin.

I have just done level 3 day 2 and have only lost 4lbs overall, but 6+ inches - not due to measure until next week.

Keep with it - don't phone it in

herbaceous · 11/02/2011 14:07

Tee hee. Talking of phoning it in, Jillian's so got my number. There's some stage in level 3 where I just get a big sulk on and think 'right, I can't do this any more'. At that precise moment, Jillian says 'don't even THINK about phoning it in'! And I dutifully go on to do more torment.
