Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

Don't worry, start off slowly and you'll find that doing the same movements that caused the pain in the first place actually helps it ease off, something to do with helping the muscles shift the build up of lactic acid. Give it a try, you'll surprise yourself Smile

Joby1970 · 09/02/2011 13:30

Buzzlitebeer - I totally agree withLostgirl - you'll feel like you can't possibly do it & the more of the workout you do the easier it gets - be warned tho - it'll ache again afterwards. But this gets betteer too - promise.

susall · 09/02/2011 14:16

Going to brave level 3 in a moment, do you ache when you start level 3 like with the others? I only ask as I have done the banish fat and 6 pack abs dvd's (cant do the side planks as my hands hurt after about 2) and was perfectly fine the next day. Some of the moves in level 3 are in the other dvd's as I recognised them from when I watched it and vowed never to attempt it. Amazing how quickly you manage to build up your strength and stamina doing her workouts, I used to swear by Davina workouts but I didnt see results as quick as this and would have given up by now.

Momentarynamechange · 09/02/2011 14:23

Hi susall,

I didn't feel the aches after level 3 that I did after level 1. I did notice my mid back felt well worked the next day, I think from the last circuit of strength.

Just done my shred for the day and feeling gooooood Smile

(does anyone who's currently doing level 3 find those mountain climber things absolutely knackering???)

LostGirl · 09/02/2011 14:26

susall, have you tried doing side planks resting on your knuckles (ie make a fist) rather than on the flat of your palm?

notyummy · 09/02/2011 14:53

Haven't shredded for a few days, although have run and done Billy's Bootcamp. Today is a rest day and I have just eaten a disgustingly large portion of chocolate cake (damn my colleagues for bringing in cakes when I have no willpower!) Will do a double shred tomorrow in compensation!! Not actually aiming to lose weight....but don't really want to gain any either Grin

Quite fancy this new DVD of hers, but doesn't look like it out in UK format for a while.

susall · 09/02/2011 15:13

Thanks guys I have just finished my first level 3 and it was not as bad as I expected. I suppose things like the rockstar jumps are something you get better with through time but it was those sumo jump thingys that were murder for me.

threestepsforward I feel it in my midsection at the moment so I may ache a little tomorrow which is better than the lot after the first level (I hope).

LostGirl I will give that a try when I next do that dvd, its the pain in my hand that puts me off and makes me wobble after the first couple, plus I dont think my mat is in the best possible condition, I keep finding bits of it everywhere these days.

DontCallMeBaby · 09/02/2011 17:51

It sounds like there's an awful lot of jumping in Level 3. Hmm

I didn't watch it last night - I spent three hours at school reviewing policies, went to Slimming World, discovered by some miracle I'd lost a pound, and came home and ate Tunnocks teacakes instead.

Anyway, I have a mat on the way from Amazon, and I'm not starting until I have it (Level 3 sounds like a mat is in order, plus I'm wearing out the carpet).

javotte · 09/02/2011 19:06

Level 2, day 4 today - it was a little bit easier. I went shopping and even though I didn't buy anything, I was thrilled by my reflection in the fitting room (%I live in a mirrorless house).

febes · 09/02/2011 19:13

Well I managed aquafit last night as I felt much better from yesterday afternoon. Going to attempt level 1 day 5 NOW!

Thelastnameleft · 09/02/2011 19:22

Hi everyone, have just ordered this as I want to get toned up for my wedding in August.

Question, will this be ok to do in the morning before work?

I am already expecting a world of pain having read a lot of the posts here.

As I have plenty of time to tone up can I take it a bit easier or will it not work if I do that?

Ty in advance :)

BuzzLiteBeer · 09/02/2011 20:29

ok I did day 2 level one like yiz told me. I can't move! Will it get better soon? I think its just because I am very desperately unfit and have been quite ill for a while.

Momentarynamechange · 09/02/2011 21:26

It will get better Buzz, promise! The first 2 days of level 1 are the real killer in terms of the day after! It really does get easier after that Smile

Thelastname, I reckon you'll have no problems at all toning up for August. I think you're supposed to do it every day, with maybe one day off a week to rest your muscles. I'm not sure if Jillian says that but that's what I remember hearing/reading.

But...if you're in it for the long haul until August, I don't reckon you'll be any the worse off from taking it a bit slower. Don't quote me on that though, I may be wrong!

Off to bed now, tiring week, looking forward to a weekend away Grin

Thelastnameleft · 09/02/2011 22:21

Thanks threesteps I appreciate you taking the time to reply, have a good rest, and weekend away :)

DVD is on its way now, Im kind of scared.

javotte · 10/02/2011 08:07

buzzlitebeer and thelastnameleft, I found level found got much easier after a few days. The soreness was gone by day 4.

javotte · 10/02/2011 08:11

Sorry, I meant level 1 of course.

Joby1970 · 10/02/2011 08:18

Lol at buzzlitebeer!

thelastnameleft: I think the average on here is to do it 5 days out of 7. This should give you good results - in terms of inch loss in the 30 days.

After 30 days lots of us do it again again & sometimes do 2 levels together - or we try other DVD's of hers.

good luck - you'll soon be be preaching the Jillian gospel!!

herbaceous · 10/02/2011 09:54

Girding my loins to attempt level 3 again after a day off yesterday, and a half-hearted attempt on Tuesday.

It's a weird level. Sumo jumps, mountain climb and pike sit up are all impossible or hideous. Bicep clean, side plank raises and superman are all pretty easy. So I hardly do any of the hard ones, and lots of the easy ones. I suppose the hard ones will get easier!

LostGirl · 10/02/2011 10:29

I think that's the problem with level 3 herb, you really need heavier weights/harder variations for some of the exercises. The clean and press is basically a dumbbell snatch which is a power move and you are meant to be using the power from your legs to lift a heavy object overhead... a 1.5kg is not a heavy object by anyones standards! IF you have a heavier weight to hand for this exercise then use it!

You can make the side planks harder by raising your top arm so it is pointing up the ceiling as this means you have to make your core work harder to balance. If this is still too easy then try holding the side plank position rather than lifting up and down for the whole 30 seconds. When you can do this then start raising your top leg and hold that position, making sure you are maintaining your neutral spine position throughout, .
For the supermans you can add in an extra move when you have raised your arms and legs, bring your elbows back so your hands are by your ears and squeeze your shoulder blades together, then return to out in front of you and lower.

greenfig · 10/02/2011 12:46

Hi ladies! Just read through the thread as my knees are suffering. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong.. any suggestions?
I had 2 days off between when I was sore after 1st session but am now in my stride so want to keep going. Interested to hear about lack of weight loss, I have put on 2 lbs but look slimmer Confused. Have recently lost over a stone so is horrid to see gain on scales despite obvious physical difference. Not sure I can let go of scales yet as would hate to lose control!

notyummy · 10/02/2011 12:48

Yes, I change the weights around for levels 2 and 3. I use 3kg for everything but the V sits (1.5kg), and in level 3 I use 5 kg for the clean and 3 kg for everything else. As long as they all laid out so I can grab them then it works.

Joby1970 · 10/02/2011 12:49

greenfig - step away from the scales you don't need them.

javotte · 10/02/2011 13:08

I've just done day 5 of level 2. I managed to do a few "real" squat thrusts and plank jacks (then went back to following Anite Confused). When will I see results on my lower body?

herbaceous · 10/02/2011 13:29

Lord knows Javotte. My main change has been upper body, but then that's my last area to put on flab, so not surprising that it's the first to go. Though my feet, oddly, are bonier, so maybe slimness will work its way from the top and bottom, to leave my arse til last!

greenfig I know just what you mean about weight. I've still only dropped about 4 pounds, despite eating bugger all, but my jeans are much looser. As for knees, I found level 1 a bugger on that front, so did modified jumping jacks and generally minimised bouncing for a bit. Sadly they now seem to have recovered, so I have no excuse!

javotte · 10/02/2011 13:34

Oh dear Herbaceous, this means there's no hope for me!
