Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Happy Birthday Gilmore! Cherrydrops, sounds like you're doing really well! DontCall, I feel your pain re: mountain climbers. londonlottie, I can manage 1 set of Natalie press-ups, and a couple of the second set before I collapse in a heap! And believe me, I never thought I would be able to do more than 2! There are travelling press ups in Level 3 which I weirdly find much easier than the normal ones. When I went back to Level 1 after doing Level 3, I found I'd improved a lot. Just done 6W6P for the 3rd (not consecutive) time, still Level 1 but used weights and managed some of the advanced moves. Has anyone ever managed the spider plank advanced version? I just can't imagine being able to do those!

Labradorlover · 28/03/2011 10:56

Missed 3 days last week. Combination of period from hell, cold and a sore knee. On level 1 day 6, second time around. Shredded today, but my knee's still not right. Not sure what to do Sad

notyummy · 28/03/2011 11:34

Happy birthday Gilmore!

Double shred with DH on Saturday AM and a BFBM later today. Did 30 mins if yoga yesterday to try and balance out all the running and circuit training I have been doing recently.

Londonlottie I do the Natalie press ups. I try and measure the maximum number of press-ups I can do in one go (in 2 minutes) once a month. It seems to have plateaued at around 40, so I guess I would have to do extra weights to improve on that.

I may gave to get 6W6P just to see these spider planks!!

gracelesslady · 28/03/2011 13:06

hi everyone! may i join in?!

have been doing 30DS since the middle of march, doing it every day unless i'm at work, and just did my first level 2. wow. i can't even remember which bit it was (already a blur!) but i ended up on my hands and knees practically sobbing "i can't go on!" reminded me of giving birth!! anyway, am going to do it again tomorrow, working on wed, and hoping to get through to level 3 without actually dying in about a fortnight.

hope you don't mind but i've been reading all the posts and find you all very inspiring :)

I fell off the JM bandwagon! Work away conf last week - i managed a 6W6P on the morning before i went, the next day i did a run, and then i guess i took too much advantage of the free bar!

Ah well, still completely shattered (really need a week of sleep), but back to 6W6P today... I even managed half of the side planks harder version today which pleased me. Need to re-focus now, was getting a little lazy with food (and obv the whole drink thing blown out the water!), so need to get back on track with healthy eating/drinking and continuing with 6W6P which i'm enjoying.

Have dropped heavy hint for better weights for mother's day :)

Gilmore - Happy Birthday and go on, you can do it!
Jelli - when is DH home? You've done so well!
Graceless - welcome to the madhouse - it's addictive

... and everyone else WELL DONE and KEEP GOING! :)

GilmoreGeek · 28/03/2011 21:10

Hey everyone, thank you very much for your birthday wishes! I had a great day out with loads of sunshine and nice walks. So quite relaxing.

And I did the shred first thing in the morning so today is Level 1 Day 1. Thanks for all your encouragement, it really helped me to get going this morning Smile

DontCallMeBaby · 28/03/2011 21:51

Mm, free bar ... sorry, I mean naughty flatmouse!

I wonder if it's too late to request a heartrate monitor for mother's day? Probably is ... will just have to treat myself. :)

I've just googled a spider plank, and trundled off into the living room to see if I can do one. The answer is 'kinda'. But I can at least do proper press-ups, even if they're a bit slow and feeble, and DH puts them to shame. And I did utterly thrash the Wii Fit blokey in a holding-a-plank competition. :D

On the other hand, I did collapse in the middle of a BFBM exercise, and leave a really horrible sweaty-forehead mark on my mat.

notyummy · 28/03/2011 22:06

Dontcall- I have just had to google it now as i felt out of the loop! I can do them- but it certainly didn't feel easy. As much a problem of balance as well as strength!

knottyhair · 28/03/2011 22:08

Blimey! When you say you can do them, is this the advanced version, the one where you put your foot on your elbow and then do a press-up???

notyummy · 28/03/2011 22:15

Knee to elbow and the press-up? That's the one I have just been doing. Probably couldn't manage more than 4-5 on each side though, absolute max, I reckon.

DontCallMeBaby · 28/03/2011 23:23

'Just' knee to elbow. :) I don't think I could put my foot on my elbow full stop.

Nah.

knottyhair · 29/03/2011 06:16

Oh I mean knee Blush!!! Blimey, well done! .

DontCallMeBaby · 29/03/2011 09:26

Heh - you'll note I didn't think it at all unlikely that Jillian could be suggesting we put our feet on our elbows ... she may claim not be very flexible, but she probably could ...

knottyhair · 29/03/2011 10:02

Well, I've just done 6W6P again, and I did manage the spiders a bit better, i.e. got my knee grazing touching my elbow. Think it might be to do with my woeful lack of flexibility in my hips? I can't do lotus position and even when I just sit normal cross-legged, it's very uncomfortable and my knees are almost vertical Blush. Still, managed the side planks and got up a bit further in the diagonal meet-ups. Onwards & upwards!

i couldn't face level 2 today - up most of the night with DS who is currently off school and watching dvds - so did level 1 again with my new 2kg weights. managed most of it, but had to go back to the 1kgs for quite a lot! i've been doing this in a fairly dedicated manner, had some days off last week for nasty cold (the one DS has now) and a period from hell, but i still feel weak as a kitten for a lot of it. when am i going to feel strong??!!! i also just googled spider planks.... bowing down to all you goddesses who have even tried!!

DontCallMeBaby · 29/03/2011 15:51

lottie I reckon there are two approaches to a new level or DVD:

  1. watch it first, go 'OMG', actually do it the following day; or
  2. watch it for the first time while doing it, thus missing the first one to three reps of each exercise as you're figuring out what to do

I do think 2 is quite good for making that first go round just a little bit easier.

flatmouse · 29/03/2011 16:49

london I struggled with the planks in level2 but by the end had much stronger upper body and could achieve much more!
dontcallme i did "2" for level 1 and level 2 and "1" for level 3 - and almost didn't try level 3 after that! As such when i first attempted 6W6P i went straight for the "watch and do".
grace I'm doing 6W6P and i can't do the proper hard spider planks where you incorporate a press-up, but i can do the easier version where you're in plank and bringing your knee up to your elbow. (i still struggle with proper press-ups!)

JelliBelli · 29/03/2011 17:25

Doing L1 6W6P day11 and I can get my knee to my elbow and just about manage to bend that elbow. It couldn't be described as a press-up by anyone though.

However I do see consistent improvement, like in the 'get ups' so there is hope yet. I hate burpies and i don't like mountain climber much either. I find the side bends with the weights at thebeginning hard too - it seems to confuse my brain for some reason Confused!

I am an option 2 person, i think if I saw it first befoer i did it i'd be too scared!!

Leverkusen · 29/03/2011 17:26

Hello everyone, thought I would join you here!

I just did level 2 day 4, havent noticed any difference bodywise, except for the fact that I can do more now.
I HATE level 2. Hate hate hate. Stupid planks.

notyummy · 29/03/2011 18:02

Have just ordered 6W6P! Feel the need to expand my JM collection....

Running today after BFBM yesterday. Will have earned rest day tomorrow...,

I did 6W6P L1 D4 I think today. Finding it tough but wasn't doing it at the best time for me. Can't do burpees at all, also still struggling with the side planks. V noticeable diff in midriff area so I will continue!
May have to chuck in a shred L2 or L3 just to liven it up a bit (finding 6W6P takes a little too long)
Still not dared remove BFBM from it's cellophane!
