Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

And let me list activities that are painful today:
walking down the stairs
sitting down
sneezing Hmm
sharp turning of steering wheel

I'm doing well, aren't I? Blush

ClaireDeLoon · 28/02/2011 10:52

Hello all

Shredded again yesterday so that is level 1 day 10 done. Tonight I need to start level 2. Frightened. grrenfig will let you know but I suspect I will find it harder.

I also got myself an exercise ball and was trying to do some of the pilates moves from my pilates class on it. And I have added on the stretching on the pilates DVD onto the shred stretching. I think I must be the most inflexible person in the world.

YCCT you aren't the only one with lots to lose, me too have 4 stone to lose and lost 5lb of it so far.

ClaireDeLoon · 28/02/2011 10:54

circusflea I laughed at sneezing, yes that hurt me too.

Every time I stand up I say 'ow tummy muscles' after the pilates class. DP thinks I'm being overly dramatic.

CleverCircusFlea · 28/02/2011 11:29

ClaireDeLoon, my DP laughs at my pain! I suggested he tries doing the shred, but he doesn't seem too keen Grin

ClaireDeLoon · 28/02/2011 11:35

I made DP do one of the pilates exercises, holding a plank with elbows on exercise ball :o he was very shaky and I laughed.

Labradorlover · 28/02/2011 12:18

greenfig do you have strong shoulders/arms? Cos mine are dying on level 2.

javotte · 28/02/2011 15:03

Hi everyone! Back to level 2 after a two-week interruption. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I overate (massively) yesterday and I hope this won't be a new eating pattern (starving myself on weekdays and bingeing at weekends).

cairns · 28/02/2011 15:08

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining the thread.
I have only done 2 days (level1) and I am hoping this thread will keep me motivated to try and do it daily. I have been running a fair bit and have recently lost nearly 2 stone in weight but feel a dire need to tone up my baby belly etc. I think the running has got me fairly cardio fit, so the cardio stuff is easy tbh but my word how I ache ache ache from the strength and abdominals . Ouch although I am guessing that is a good sign. I only bought 2kg weights , thinking 1kg were too light (in the shop that is Wink !!!)

circus I feel your pain

YouCantTeuchThis · 28/02/2011 15:39

[puff] [wheeze] day 3 level 2 done...I swear it's getting harder, not easier!

hallo Cairns, well done for getting started and on the running! Did you run before or did you start recently? Impressed with the 2st loss Smile

DH smiles indulgently at me when I come through sweating and faint. The day will come when I will perch daintily on the sofa sipping something strong and refreshing and watch him shred...

flatmouse · 28/02/2011 16:14

javotte how are the bruises? (it was you that fell down the stairs?)

Labradorlover · 28/02/2011 19:53

Shock at starting off with 2kg weights Cairns. But then I have slightly flabby twigs for arms.

Hello javotte, weel done for getting back into the -dread- shred zone

ClaireDeLoon · 28/02/2011 20:24

I just did level 2 for the first time. I think I actually spent most of the time staring at the tv screen in either confusion or horror. And I actually fell over at one point. As well as being the world's least flexible person I'm also the least coordinated.

cairns · 28/02/2011 22:20

Day 3 done and I am aching please tell me it gets easier!!

I quite like Gillian I seem to respond to her firm telling off. I think I am more of a stick than a carrot person tbh.

I think 2 kg weights for me are prob the right choice , given how gillian seems to ram it home how you need to really work but have not seen level 2 yet so I may eat my words. I have fairly strong arms which is prob due to carting around 2 massive ds's when anyone else picks them up they nearly drop them.

Yes running only recentish .(since nov) and have stupidly entered a 10k, so I need to really up the training and am hoping a stronger core ( to my non existent one that is !) will help me to survive it.

conquita · 28/02/2011 22:51

Just done level 1, I am going to try and shred at least 5 times a week during the month of March. I will up my weights too. Lostgirl - your advise is really good, I totally agree I need the strength [and abs] in particular rather than just concentrating on running.

Even though my bf says my body is going through a 'transformation' I am still 74kgs Sad. Yet my body is wayyyy smaller than it used to be Hmm.

Also because I shred in front of a mirror I am really focusing more on my form now, rather than just trying to get through to the end.

Another thing I noticed when I stopped shredding on a regular basis was how much it affected me 'head wise' I became depressed, which I had not been since I started shredding last December. So now I am back on it I will see if I have any depression in March.

foreverondiet · 28/02/2011 23:08

Hello, have done 3 days now, did 2 days of level 1 and did level 2 today.... because I only have 1kg weights and need heavier ones because I can hardly feel them and wanted to see the moves on level 2 before I rushed out to buy the new weights. Was also thinking I'd do level 1 on gym days (I go to gym in morning) and level 2 on non gym days.

Am thinking I should buy 2kg, (and maybe 4kg? Maybe wait for the 4kg (think would be good for level 1 chest fly and dead row) - any thoughts?)

I have just lost almost 3 stone (4lbs left to go)... and I already go the gym 3x a week, training for a triathlon in June and doing 2 x 5km run in May and July.

LostGirl · 01/03/2011 06:23

foreverondiet if you are already doing weights on the days you go to the gym then use the shred as more of a metabolic routine to get your heartrate up etc, rather than a strength one. Heavier weights are definitely better for the chest fly and dead row but if you have already worked those muscles at the gym the day before or are going to the next day then ideally they should be having a rest so you don't need to worry too much about the weight. Concentrate on keeping really good form but trying to increase the number of repetitions you can do within the time frame instead.

conquita remember to have rest days too please, your body will thank you for it Grin. And have you not chucked those evil scales away yet? As long as you can see the changes in the mirror then do not worry about whether the scales are going down, it means you are maintaining all your lean muscle mass and hopefully adding some more which is great for your metabolism and means you are not going to end up as you do when just dieting where you have to eat less and less to keep seeing the changes or even just to maintain.

notyummy · 01/03/2011 08:36

Hi all - sounds like lots of great progress on here.

Like the sound of these Jillian apps, so will look to download some to my iphone when I get wireless reception tonight!

Haven't shredded for nearly a week, but did a gym session on Sunday, plus a 45 minutes Matt Roberts workout yesterday, which is another fairly challenging workout if anyone is looking for an occasional alternative to the Shred. Book is 'Fit for your shape.'

knottyhair · 01/03/2011 09:24

Hi everyone. Lots of good stuff going on here! I haven't done anything since Thursday due to feeling rough. I did contemplate Shredding this morning, but I'm still so bunged up and chesty (way hay!) and I got breathless and felt odd running up the stairs, so I think I'd better leave it another day or so. I miss it though Sad.

greenfig · 01/03/2011 12:47

Wave back @ Cairns! Good to see you! I was a bit light-weight & had a few rest days, sore knees & generally sore muscles! Does get better though! I'm sure you will be much more disciplined than me thoughEnvy! Even so I can feel a diference in strength, stamina & tone so it's all good.
labrador I am using light weights as I'm not very strong upper body & yes I def find it tougher on shoulders! I find the rest much easier than L1 though. Twist planks no probConfused. I have been doing pilates for quite a long time (lots of planks) so perhaps my core is stronger than I realise. Tummy def not flat though, perhaps it's a driftGrin

Momentarynamechange · 01/03/2011 16:04

Afternoon Shredders!
Man alive, that was hard today. Took the weekend off and really struggled to motivate myself today, but managed level 3.
How can you work on the psychology that really persuades yourself you don't want to go back to exercise after a few days off?
Although I expect tomorrow will be just as hard a battle with my inner demons...seem to have lost my Shredding groove

BalloonSlayer · 01/03/2011 17:00

I didn't shred today Blush

I had a window to then ended up doing something else. I feel like I have missed out. Sad

Had a high protein lunch - scrambled eggs and sausages, and the sausages were gak! Feel like I have doubly missed out now...

flatmouse · 01/03/2011 19:21

Level 3 day 8 completed.... 2 more days of this nightmare before I can return to the seemingly more result-oriented level 1 !!

This time of day not good for me shredding but I got it done.

Pagwatch · 02/03/2011 09:39

I am back having done 5 days but then got distracted when I got a streaming cold.

Started again at half term .

Just did level 1 day 7.
It remains knackering but I am dribbling and crying less Grin

CleverCircusFlea · 02/03/2011 09:54

Day 4 level 1 done, I'm a sweaty mess, but actually managed to do a few proper press-ups today, not just "Anita" ones! Grin
I'm very tempted to weigh and measure myself, but I know it's much too soon for any measurable results, so will resist till the end of the week. Grin

YouCantTeuchThis · 02/03/2011 11:58

just been reading this about multiple workouts and best time of day to work out.

TBH it is more about when I can squeeze it into the day, but at the moment I am mostly shredding around midday and walking around 5pm.

Am now off to find some exceedingly healthy recipes too. I am impatient and want to shift weight fast!!

Off to shred Grin
