Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

OP posts:
Zeeky · 21/02/2011 12:14

Haven't shredded today :( DS on half term & my knees are a bit sore so thought it might be best to have a rest day. Only dine 6 days & already having to have a day off :(

Also, did my weekly weigh this morning & have gone back up 3lbs to where I started a few weeks ago :(

knottyhair · 21/02/2011 12:19

Zeeky, don't worry, I think it's advised to do 6 days out of 7 anyway. And have you been measuring yourself as well as weighing yourself? I think it's quite common to lose inches rather than pounds when Shredding. I've been calorie counting as well so I've lost weight every week so far but it's varied from 5lbs to half a pound.

herbaceous · 21/02/2011 13:40

Hola girls. Been away for the weekend, and before that working, so have done very little shredding. Had been on level 3, but think I'll do level 1 again today, as feel v knackered and headachey. Assuming it's PMT, but all I want to do is lie down.

But in my head Jillian's telling me what I need to do is shred, and all will be well! then I can treat myself to a trip to Asda and the playground when DS wakes up. Hmm

herbaceous · 21/02/2011 14:53

Actually, that wasn't too bad. Even the bicycle crunches! The torments of levels 2 and 3 must have paid off!

Momentarynamechange · 21/02/2011 16:11

Conquita, thoughts of you breezing through all three levels spurred me on to do levels 2 and 3 this afternoon. Thank you Grin And...I'm still alive Grin

Out of all those levels, it's the mountain climber move I find hardest. I can barely move my legs up and down like Anita, let ALONE Nathalie... I think I need new batteries for my legs so they go faster.

Off to collapse in shower now...

Momentarynamechange · 21/02/2011 16:12

And yay to herbaceous for getting back on the Shredding wagon [cheers]

notyummy · 21/02/2011 17:16

Well done on the double shred Threesteps - see Conquita is spurring people to feats of endurance!!

Did a level 3 yesterday after 25 minutes of pilates. Overall a pretty hard session for core/abs.

Today I did a 'tabata' session on my crosstrainer (did 25 mins in total, of which 4 was tabata style....and i nearly blacked out towards the end!!) It is really tough, but worth thinking about if you are reasonably fit and looking and something to mix in with the shred. You can use it with running/crosstrainer etc:

'And what is it? Tabata training was developed by Dr. Izumi Tabata in Tokyo, He figured out a way to get maximal anaerobic and aerobic benefits. 20/10 Tabata training is simply doing any cardio or resistance exercise for 20 seconds constantly then taking 10 seconds rest after repeating the cycle for 8 cycles. This means you can get a hugely effective workout in about 5 minutes per exercise which will test you not only aerobically, but will build muscular endurance. Proven Benefits ? A Hugely effective fat burner, due to effect on the metabolism. ? Release of Anabolic Hormones thanks to Lactic acid release in muscles. ? Short and effective workout as part of a main workout. ? Can be done anywhere with any exercise from Crunches to Heavy Squats. Doing Tabata training is easy, we just pick an exercise simply go all out for 20 seconds, take a 10 Second rest. This type of training will get your heart rate right up resulting in a very effective workout that can be done anywhere and in a short period of time, perfect for busy lifestyles. Please note that the first few times you do Tabata training you may experience some soreness the next day, always remember to warm up and cool down correctly at the beginning and end of each workout.'

Momentarynamechange · 21/02/2011 17:44

Oo, that's really interesting notyummy, thanks for posting that.

Can I just ask so I'm clear: so you do 20 secs cardio, then 10 secs rest, then 20 secs cardio, 10 secs rest (repeating this 8 times)

or do you do the 20 secs cardio 8 times, (without rest), followed by the 10 secs rest?

And then (if the second is right), do you just carry on infinitum until you collapse ?

Did that make any sense lol?

Am off to do the dreaded big shop but I'll pop back later and have a look. I'd like to add something extra to my daily workout, but don't think I have the stamina to do double Jillian every day!

notyummy · 21/02/2011 18:21

20 secs full on, no holds barred sprint pace, ten seconds rest. Do it 8 times= 4 minutes. Doesn't sound much, but trust me, if you are doing it properly it is a killer! I think some people try doing a few different ones with some rest, low key cardio in between. I tend to do a longer session of jogging/cross trainer, fairly gentle pace with the tabata session at the end and then a gradual cool down.

netbook · 21/02/2011 19:01

OMFG you biatchs my legs feel like they are going to either fall off or just stop working altogether.

It's all your fault!!!!

notyummy · 21/02/2011 19:02
Grin

Thanks for the compliments netbook Wink

netbook · 21/02/2011 19:10

Grin Did day 2 about 3 hours ago.

I'm in the office tomorrow and have to walk up 3 flights of stairs, how am I supposed to do that eh? Without walking up holding onto the steps, I feel slightly panicky about it

Labradorlover · 21/02/2011 19:14

Keep going netbook day 2 is about the worst. It gets better and get results Grin

southeastastra · 21/02/2011 19:15

i fast forwarded the first bits of level 3 today, am sick of superman Grin

i also have developed weird bulges on the outside on my thighs, has anyone else got these weird things?

Momentarynamechange · 21/02/2011 19:25

Yes me southeast, I think they are the crisps I had at the weekend Grin

Not sure though, but could it be they're in the process of changing? I remember my arms looking really weird mid way through (to my eyes anyway) and then they seemed to behave again and go down in size.

Thanks notyummy, that's great. Will definitely try and do something like that. Do you think it would work with some of the cardio moves in the Shred? I'd quite like to do them in the same spot as where I Shred rather than go out running or similar...

Netbook, you'll be fine going up the stairs, it's going DOWN the stairs that will be fun Grin (it does get better after first few days though, promise Smile)

netbook · 21/02/2011 20:33

Thanks labradorlover and threesteps I hope I'm better tomorrow.

have just put ds to bed and really struggled walking downstairs, it was really hard!!

YouCantTeuchThis · 21/02/2011 21:58

Day three done, along with a power stomp again. Not so sore today, although I found the first 10 minutes much harder!

Last time round, I found day 4 the hardest so I am looking forward to breakin' on through that tomorrow Grin

Netbook, it does get better!

Conquita...[bows down] say no more.

conquita · 21/02/2011 22:08

hahaha! thanks everyone! Grin

threesteps - you are brilliant doing level 2 and 3.

In a couple of months, you too will be able to do it, seriously, like I said before I am no gym bunny, I don't run around like a cocker spaniel in a leotard and legwarmers. But I wanted to give it a go, to see if I could do all levels, and I could! You just have to push yourself. "You are strong! this is easy for you" as Killian says!

thanks though, I am really amazed by this response!

febes · 21/02/2011 23:42

Am just about to do day 3 of level 2. I am scared cause my shoulders and abs are sore but as the rest of you are finding after day 3/4 it gets a bit better and easier so I want to push through.

I'm in NZ by the way so its lunch time here at the moment. Its quite chilly today after the sweltering heat of yesterday so better to shred.

conquita · 21/02/2011 23:57

Hey febes, I am in Australia!
Good luck level 2, you are halfway through shredding!

febes · 22/02/2011 00:43

Can't shred just had a 6.3 earthquake. It was massive and so scary and the aftershocks just aren't stopping. We were in the UK for the big one in september so missed it. All my stuff is smashed and have no power. Luckily we have the laptop!!!

conquita · 22/02/2011 01:21

Oh my god, I just read about this. I hope you are ok and safe febes.

knottyhair · 22/02/2011 05:48

Febes, hope you and your loved ones are OK x

YouCantTeuchThis · 22/02/2011 08:16

Just reading this on the BBC site - Febes, how terrifying! Thoughts with the people of Christchurch x

Joby1970 · 22/02/2011 08:22

Febes - keep us all updated on how you are - just heard this on radio 4.
