Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy
:)

Let us know how you got on febes! Overall, I found Level 2 harder than Level 3, although some Level 3 moves are a nightmare very "challenging". I'm going back to Level 1 this morning, as I've had a couple of days of Level 3 (did Davina on Friday and nothing yesterday). Taking DS to cinema later this morning, then out for lunch so I need all the help I can get!

pippylongstockings · 20/02/2011 07:59

Can I join in ? I have been lurking for a while - bought 30 day shred in Jan haven't been doing it everyday but have managed about 4 times a week.

I find if I do it 2 days in a row my thighs really ache, which is good I know but then I get too scared to do a 3rd day in case I can't walk.

I just CANT do the chair squats with V raise. I can do the legs not the arms or do the arms not the legs but can only do about 4 moves if I do them together. Whats the secret?

I haven't lost any weight but have lost inches.

febes · 20/02/2011 08:08

Well I really enjoyed level 2 but found all the plank moves quite hard. I'll have to wear trainers tomorrow because my feet were sliding on the carpet. I was mostly following Anita but it seemed to go really fast and I managed nearly all of it without stopping. I was sweating like a beast though much more than level 1. Bring on day 2!!

Momentarynamechange · 20/02/2011 12:01

Nice one Febes! Level 2 is the hardest for me, I'm not sure why. The circuit 2 cardio bit I really struggle with and the v-shape strength thing has me questionning my sanity concept of time!

It's a nightmare when you've done it enough that you know her chat, so you know when she starts talking about jean shopping you've got to get through her swimsuit banter too! Or is that just me lol

Pondering whether or not to have a day off today. Have to sort out a charity shop run and that will take some time!

Hope everyone is having a good day today Smile

ScaredOne · 20/02/2011 13:04

Hey everyone, I am trying to lose weight and tone up and found the DVD online the other day. It looks great but I am scared I can't do it. I do do some sports but I get out of breath so easily it's unreal. Did you struggle with that?

I am also not sure I understand the concept completely. So there are three levels, is it the same work out every day when e.g. on level 1?

Thanks Smile

knottyhair · 20/02/2011 13:52

Hi ScaredOne. Give it a go, you won't regret it! I am honestly the least sporty person I know, and although it is hard, it's only 20 mins and you feel so much better for doing, plus you do get better at it! I've been doing it around 4 weeks, usually 6 days out of 7, and I got to Level 3. So yes, it is the same workout every day for each level but it's very quick, and I do break it up a bit sometimes with a Davina workout or something. Each level has 3 circuits, each with 3 mins of strength, 2 mins of cardio (broken down into four 30 second segments), and 1 min of abs. I do now weirdly enjoy it, well most days!

threesteps, I know exactly what you mean about the chat! There's one bit where she says "a couple more" and you know it's not 2, but at least 10.

southeastastra · 20/02/2011 13:56

i've done two weeks on level 3 now and to be honest i think i prefer level 2 - it just seemed to target the areas when i want to lose weight (belly) more.

has anyone else reverted back to level 2?

Momentarynamechange · 20/02/2011 14:01

Oh yes, that old 'couple more' chestnut knottyhair, it's burnt on my brain!

southeast I went back to level 2 yesterday, and did level 1 the day before that. I think it's worth doing, especially if you're getting bored! It didn't seem any easier lol

Scaredone, give it a go. Like knottyhair said it's only 20 mins and you'll be surprised how quickly your fitness levels improve. I know I've been moaning about it but I'm actually a bit evangelical about it too - a love/hate relationship methinks Grin

Momentarynamechange · 20/02/2011 14:02

And I can't get over conquita doing levels 1, 2 and 3 back to back, that is so bloomin' impressive!

ScaredOne · 20/02/2011 14:05

Knottyhair, thank you. I don't think I'd get tired of the workout or anything, I was just genuinely curious about how it works and what you do.

It's good to know you managed ok though, I am always quite worried about that. It's why I don't like sports courses etc very much, I just feel bad for needing to stop to have a drink all the time.
I might consider getting the DVD then and doing it every morning before going out. Hope it wouldn't tire me out too much

I do need weights though, right? I don't have any. I also just have a wooden floor in the living room, might need a yoga mat too. Haha, all these reasons to not start exercising Grin

ScaredOne · 20/02/2011 14:06

Oh and just saw your post, thanks to you too Threestepsforward. I do think moaning is part of the exercise Wink

YouCantTeuchThis · 20/02/2011 15:52

Day two level one done, with a 25 minute power walk afterwards Grin

I was sore yesterday by evening time, and worried that I wouldn't manage today. But, although I could feel every muscle, I managed. I did make sure I did the warm-up properly though, as sometimes I don't really...

Feels good to be underway (ha ha, two days in!) and I am cutting out bread for a start as well.

I have ordered a WW Propoints pack, despite being 'against' diets. I know I need to eat less, move more, eat healthily, etc. It isn't working for me, so I am going to go with structure for a while and see how that goes.

knottyhair · 20/02/2011 15:54

You do need weights, and I find different ones for different moves. I can manage 2kg now for most things but still need lighter ones for certain stuff! If you've got wooden floors, you'd need a mat I think. I've got carpet and that stops me slipping during planks etc. but I do get carpet burns in the first bit of Level 3! Have to put a cushion under them now Blush.

BalloonSlayer · 20/02/2011 17:44

knottyhair I nearly found myself complaining in public about carpet burns on my elbows, thanks to Level 3, but luckily stopped myself just in time and my reputation remains unblemished. Grin

knottyhair · 20/02/2011 17:52

Know what you mean BalloonSlayer, I mentioned it in the school playground and got some funny looks. Luckily the friend I was telling has a tendency to be just as inappropriate as me Grin. She once told me that her husband wondered if it is possible to have a soapy bum wank as opposed to a soapy tit wank. He wanted her to try it. I had to tell her that it sounded like he was gearing up for a bit of "oops sorry love I slipped". Sorry if that's TMI Blush.

conquita · 20/02/2011 23:03

haha! the carpet burns yes! they do look mighty suspicious! best to keep mum about it, and let others believe you are having wild frequent sex!

threesteps, I too cannot believe I did all levels back to back. But it was like level 1 was a warm up, level 2 was getting a little more serious and then level 3 was the proper workout. The best thing was, the next day I did not ache anywhere. I used 2.5 kilo weights throughout it all, except on level 2 when I used 1.5kg on the bit where you hold the weights in the air and kick your leg out. I also used 1.5kg on level 3 on the jumping jacks and the one where you are in the plank and pull the weight up and hoist your leg up in the air.

Being able to do this has amazed me so much. I am not a sporty, athletic type of person. I really struggle to lose weight, I have a bmi [still] of 27 and am at least 2 stones overweight. But my fitness level is freaking me out. All this is achieved from the Shred [doing 30 days straight and then one month of 3-4 times a week].

I will try to do all levels again this Friday and report back if I am able to achieve it without keeling over!

All of you who are committed to this are in the process of achieving a major life change. Please do not give up.

knottyhair · 21/02/2011 05:55

That is amazing conquita - truly inspiring.

febes · 21/02/2011 06:12

Urgggggghhhh I want to do day 2 level 2 but its 30 degrees and way too hot at the moment. Maybe in a few hours it will cool off and then I can shower and collaspe in bed.

BalloonSlayer · 21/02/2011 08:03

Wow conquita that's so impressive!

knottyhair I have been sniggering about your friend all night (was too ahem Mellow to reply last night when I read it). Grin Grin Grin

I have the challenge of it being half-term this week - will I manage to get any shredding done?

I have got dressed in shredding kit this morning so here's hoping I manage something. (Had to get my bra back out of the laundry basket where it has been since Friday but not yet washed - yuck)

Good luck all!

febes · 21/02/2011 08:39

I shredded but it was so hard tonight!! Anyone else's shoulders ache after starting level 2? All those arsing plank moves!!! I love it but I hate it!!!
Go Conquita what a great inspiration!!!

knottyhair · 21/02/2011 09:14

Febes, I do admire you doing anything in 30 degree heat! Where are you?? BalloonSlayer, ah, there's nothing like the feel of wearing a previously sweaty bra. I really must buy another one - I've got 2 but the good ones are bloody expensive. But when you're 34F, you can't really do without! Just done Level 1 again, as it's going to be a bit hit & miss this week what with half-term & DS's birthday party to get ready for. I do find it easier now, having done 2 & 3, but those bloody side lunges with arm raises still get me Blush. Have a good day everyone.

Momentarynamechange · 21/02/2011 10:45

I think we should adopt Conquita as our inspirational mascot Grin

I can only dream of the time I get through level 1 and consider it a warm-up!!

Hope everyone's doing well today. It's day, erm, I've no idea any more, but I will be shredding at some point.

Balloonslayer could be a bit more tricky with half term but I reckon you'll manage a few. Perhaps try and incoprorate The Shred into your day...so don't walk to the kettle, pendulum lunge to the kettle. Don't walk out the door, skater step through the door. Actually second thoughts, don't do that, it might look a bit weird to someone outside!

BalloonSlayer · 21/02/2011 11:31

Well I managed to do Level 3 day 8 this morning, with the added humiliation of being watched inredulously by various DCs at various points. I found it horribly hard, I nearly cried. Perhaps it's the two day break, or maybe that it was too soon after breakfast but oh dear Sad

Mind you, looking on the bright side - it's out of the way for today - yippee!

DD just asked me if I was wearing a new top. I had to tell her that no, it was one I bought from Laura Ashley quite a while ago and couldn't wear as my stomach was just too fat and it looked dreadful. It looks OK now Grin

Labradorlover · 21/02/2011 11:39

Level 1 again today. Should have been first day of level 2, but after a huge girls weekend am amazed that I've even got out of bed shredded.
Everyone at the weekend thought I'd lost weight!
Level 2 tomorrow.

ClaireDeLoon · 21/02/2011 12:03

I'm in awe that someone could consider level 1 a 'warm up' :o

I'm up to day 5 level 1 and she says 'those of you on day 5, 6, 7 I bet you're finding it easier now' and I think 'nope'. Still I think I'm a bit better at the push ups but the final set of abs I still find fairly impossible.
