WeightWatchers ProPoints Plan - Our thread is expanding but our waists are not!

Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

bluebump · 24/01/2011 16:00

I didn't lose a single lb this week, which is an improvement on putting on 2lb the week before but still so disappointing!!

Willabywallaby · 24/01/2011 16:04

I too only weigh once a week since I owe no scales. Haven't had my first WI yet, Wednesday!..

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2011 17:01

Well, I already love all of you for making me feel better! So pleased I stumbled on this thread!

Been speaking to a couple of other mums at toddler group, and one of them reassured me that muscle DEFINITELY does weigh more than fat, so if I'm exercising I won't lose as much weight as I would if I wasn't.

She also quite sensibly told me that if my clothes are more loose, and if my measurements are smaller, then who cares what I weigh?? I could be 100st, but if I'm still a size 12, who cares??

So going to try really hard not to be disappointed tomorrow if not much has come off...

Oh, and on the topic of cheating, we had a party at our group this afternoon - I picked on a couple of things, mainly veg sticks and dips, and then naughtily a cupcake and a couple of cocktail sausages. Wasn't going to track it (as getting "new" set of points tomorrow), but I did and guess what? 13 FRICKIN' PROPOINTS!! Shock

And THAT'S why you have to track!!!!

futurity · 24/01/2011 17:19

Hi!

Can I join in please! I signed up today to online as I have a pesky 8lb to lose..I know it is not much but it is annoying me and I need to learn to eat more normally again as I am still eating like it is Christmas!

I have used WW for years but thought I would give this new Points thingy a go. It's very different isn't it! I love that fruit is now 0 points...much more sensible. Not got the idea of the 49 weekly points...do people really use them all up?

Anyway, any tips or hints are welcome for this new (but old!) WW user!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 17:54

Newsboy?? Bloody iPhones spellcheck - meant to say breakie :)

'removes all scales'

Bluebump - sorry you sts but well done for not gaining :)

Welcome fururoty - hope your 8 lbs come off soon

Noway - see easily done - the odd nibble here an there = 1/2 Yr daily PP or nearly 2days worth of bonus PP

Dh has just made a sandwich and it is more than my daily PP

'blondes faints'

2 thick bread 6pp
6 rashers of bacon 12pp
3 slices of wrapped full fat cheese 6pp
1/2 Chicken breast sliced 2pp
Thickly spread with butter 4pp
Ketchup 1pp

That's a whopping 31pp

And looks and smells soooo good

'blondes dribbles!!!'

If I had one mouthful what do you think it would cost me in PP .........

DuplicitousBitch · 24/01/2011 18:01

arf @ blondes friend weighing potatos, you are so in teh zone

wizzler · 24/01/2011 18:55

Blonodes, is this the same DH who nicked your maltesers ? ... I think you deserve a small bite!
Welcome futurity,

froot · 24/01/2011 19:23

Bugger bugger bugger . sts at wi. And that's with 3 sessions of shred and 3 treadmill this week . That will teach me to not track chocolate nibbles and drink wine at a dinner party ...... And this week have to survive buffet 2 evenings in a row followed by a weekend away in Bournemouth !!! Aaaaaaaaagh . At this rate it will be march before I lose the weight I gained in December .

Not blaming propoints though just myself

Anyone care to estimate points used by a steamy session ?

bigTillyMint · 24/01/2011 19:56

Well, feeling not surprisd but a bit p'd off - WI tonight - STS, but scales at home said 1 1/2 off. Ours is a big meeting (3 sets of scales) and I'm sure some of the scales weigh differently. Anyway, I shouldn't be weighing at home, so I'll just suck it up.

Commeiserations, froot!

On the plus side, I haven't been sneaking food today and have tracked everything and still within points.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 19:56

froot I was told that 30mun of vigorous snagging was 4 old ww p / so maybe 6pp - so depends how energetic you were

Going on top earns more PP Grin

wizzler no that's was dh no 1 - this is the other one I have tucked away - Pmsl

Yes the same one who STOLE my malteasers

I dithered about it. 31 in all so 16 per half and each half was prob 8 bites so prob one bite was 2pp

But prefer crisps :)

Had a yummy m&s meatball and spaghetti ready meal / was 9pp and YUMMY!!!

And yes my friend thinks I'm now a nutter Grin but needs must

androbbob · 24/01/2011 20:25

blondes - no offence but you are wrong and misleading by saying everything as doubled in points - you cannot compare the two plans as the old plan worked out points with cals and sat fat and the new one uses protein, carbs, fat and fibre. It is like comparing tapes and CD's - you just cant do it. Some things have stayed the same points and others have gone up by 3 or 4 points, meat for example is less points as it fills you up longer.

Anyway regardless of the above, it is a simple equation of eat less and move more so that you are expending more fuel than you are putting in and you will lose weight.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 20:39

No offense taken androbbob :)

It was what my friend said and she works at a ww meeting - maybe I should say most things have seemed to have doubled - ESP meals/anything with old ww p on them when you recalculate them

When I read the ww boards there are a few posts who say the same - tho others say that they can't get on with new wwpp and find losing weight hard - where on old p they lost 1 or 2 lbs a week

Seems weird it works for some but not others - or are they not being truthful with what they eat?

futurity · 24/01/2011 20:48

Thanks for the warm welcome :) I have got to the end of my first day and was not as hungry as I seem to have eaten more than I would of on the old plan..and I still have 3 points left..will see how the next few days go!

androbbob · 24/01/2011 20:57

blondes - I think a lot of it has to do with people not being honest with tracking properly! In my opinion you either track correctly or dont bother as you are only kidding yourself! It is also psychological - having that 49 points buffer means you can have what you perceive to be a 'blow out' and then get back to your daily points and still lose weight. Previously I know I have pigged out and then think sod it and carried on eating, thu gaining that week, then not going back and ending up half a stone heavier a month later!

I too have looked on mini mins and the WW website forums and there is a growing band of people who it is not working for, but I think they are kidding themselves with the points - with the 49 you have to count everything that passes your lips otherwise it does not work!

I have do think that you need to make good choices as well and pick the more healthier options.

I have a problem with processing carbs (I am diabetic and my body cant sort out the sugar in carb high food) and this diet works for me far better as I am eating alot less carbs. It is still hard though, but no diet is easy else we would all be thin!!

Anyway, it is an interesting debate, and I hink being a woman it is harder, as we have hormones and emotions whereas men can just set their mind to it and lose half a stone in a week!

Interested to hear others views on the new PP plan.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 21:20

Blondes loves a good debate!!!

Tbh any diet works as long as you stick to it

I lost 4stone on old ww

I normally a lb a week girl

So far on new ww PP I have lost 7 lbs in 3 weeks - I'm totally honest with what I eat as tbh I don't see the point in lying as only lying to myself

I hoping I will lose a lb this Friday - if I don't I will be peeved as eating my points

I'm still wary about eating all 49 and normally have 20-30 of them

sparkle101 · 24/01/2011 21:21

Evening, please can I apologise in advance for the swearing that is about to take place.

WEIGHT WATCHERS - I F*CKING LOVE YOU! Week three weigh in and lost 4.5lb so that's 10 so far, only good thing about being big to begin with you can lose a lot straight away. So got my first silver seven and am 1.5lb off my 5%.

Thank you to all of you for your supporting words earlier in the week when I was having a crisis after a meal out, not sure without you all whether I would just have written this week off and pigged out. Thanks ladies!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 21:44

sparkle fanfuckingtastic :)

Well done - you must be so thrilled - fab wryly loss ad Yr first 7!!!!

Lorelai · 24/01/2011 22:05

That's brilliant sparkle, well done!

NormaSknockers · 24/01/2011 22:07

Evening all,

My goodness how many pages to catch up on?! Grin Shock Grin

I'll catch up tomorrow properly but I hope everyone's ok?

Lost 0.5lb this week, not fantastic but better the nothing and takes me 3 and a half stone off so far! Did much better with the helping out tonight, really got into the swing of it and I really enjoyed it as I wasn't as nervous Grin

Sorry for the rubbish post, I will have a thorough read through tomorrow and good catch up Grin

OP posts:
abgirl · 24/01/2011 22:13

Well done SparkleGrin

wizzler · 24/01/2011 22:14

Fantastic Sparkle, thats brilliant.
Also Norma, weight loss going in the right direction, despite you not being well. ( 3 and a half stone is amazing)

Have WI 2moro. Have plucked eyebrows, shaved legs and filed nails to maximise chances of weight loss. Fingers crossed!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 22:26

well done norma - still a loss :)

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2011 22:55

Wizzler, I'm also well-groomed for WI tomorrow! Always end up freezing to death on the walk there, too, as just wear leggings and top under coat to be as light as possible!

Well, have tracked every single crumb that passed my lips, and finished the week with 17 of my 49 PP remaining (not bad after two kids parties, and a blow out lunch over the weekend!), so am crossing fingers, toes and all things that can be crossed for a good result tomorrow! [bgrin]

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 23:23

good luck noway and wizzler with wi tom [bsmile]

how cute are these [bgrin] [bbear]

abgirl · 25/01/2011 06:27

1st WI just now (am doing ww at home online)........ lost 4lbs! V happy[bgrin]
