WeightWatchers ProPoints Plan - Our thread is expanding but our waists are not!

Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

Just checking in. WI this morning, lost 2lb again, so 4 in 2 weeks. Am enjoying the plan, especially as we tend to have quite a few social Wine things at weekends and the weeklies allow for that.

vnmum · 08/02/2011 10:10

welcome letsgetloud when i read your name the song started playing in my head (from my line dancing days),lol

Well done to all the losers and silver 7's this week, it's a good start to the week so far.

All this talk of ill parents is making me upset, in 2 weeks i will be moving 5 1/2 hours away from my parents. They are both just 60 but DF has just been diagnosed with diabetes, DM has high blood pressure and chest problems that they don't seem to be able to diagnose and they could do to lose a bit of weight and eat more healthily but are in denial i think. It worries me that i will not see them as much, the kids will not see them as much and also i will be so far away if anything were to happen. This was the main reason i didn't want to move but we have to due to DH work Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 11:31

electric well done on loss

btm ouch. Must def be that pesky AF and sure next week will see a massive loss

vnmum that's a long journey away from parents :( mine are 10mins away. Hopefully they will both stay healthy and happy

Could you get skpe and see/talk to them?

I'm munching on fruit - apples and grapes. I know I shall gain on Friday WI and I shall take it gracefully without moaning

NoWayNoHow · 08/02/2011 12:06

Morning! Well done everyone who's lost so far.

Had WI this morning, have put on 0.5lbs. Sad and also quite Angry as I was so careful with tracking this week, ESPECIALLY on Saturday which is when I used 36 of my weeklies.

Anyway, leader made two points:
(1) my body doesn't know that Tuesday is WI day, and I might lose tomorrow, and
(2) tracking everything when I went out probably prevented me from putting on even more than 0.5lbs, as I made decisions on what I ate and drank based on weekly allowances (i.e. chicken and salad instead of fish and chips, and spirits and diet mixers instead of wine)

Still doesn't make me feel any happier, as this was last WI before holiday and was really hoping to have got closer to silver 7/5% before going away. I'm on antibiotic for my tooth nerve infection, so maybe I'm retaining water??

wizzler · 08/02/2011 12:45

Welcome to Bamboo.
Chin up Going. STS can be awfully dispiriting. Dont let it put you off .. you will probably lose more next week
Letsgetloud.. I always have an evening meal with the family. DH does the cooking, and usually cooks from scratch so its sometimes difficult to point up. I try to have the same as everyone else, but have less carbs. Am very conscious (sp?) that I dont want DD (4yrs) to jump on the bandwagon.

DuplicitousBitch · 08/02/2011 12:51

noway it is just a blip. what did your leader say about having so many of your weekly points on saturday? i would have thought that would have set you back a bit.

LETSGETLOUD i eat with dh and dd for the same reasons as wizzler, dd is skinny enough without getting dieting into her head.

NormaSknockers · 08/02/2011 12:59

Afternoon all :)

Just sticking my head in quickly to report I stayed the same this week which I'm thrilled about Grin

Good luck to all weighing in today!

Abgirl am keeping up with the Shred, yesterday was a bit easier although I find the press ups impossible!!! Will keep going. Well done on your 2lb loss and silver 7!!!
letsgetloud Welcome - WW Caramel Wafers are great, they are 1 point each and I love them with a cup of tea as I do miss biscuits and these are a good alternative.
Froot, Sparkle & electricslide great losses - very well done.
Wizzler thanks for pep talk - trying to look at the big picture not just the measley 1lb off.
HighHeidYin Hope your Dad picking up, very sad to see parents ill & declining, I know this only too well unfortunately. Let us know how you find Shred!
Going don't be too despondent at STS and increasing your exercise. Maybe you are like me & your body is saving up a huge loss for next week when it gets over the shock of increased exercise Grin.
BigTillyMint Angry at TOTM
Noway Keep going.

I had a very healthy meal at friends last night so stayed within daily points, just!!! Feeling good today and positive and the sunshine & blue sky is helping.

Agreed to try a Zumba class next week with a few girlfriends!!! Sounds fun so will give it a go.

bigTillyMint · 08/02/2011 13:23

loublou am now feeling guilty that I haven't even attempted the shred yet (DVD arrived last week!).

Job for tomorrow!

NoWayNoHow · 08/02/2011 13:48

duplicitous, she didn't say anything about using so many points in one day - she can't, can she? If she did, she'd be admitting that the plan doesn't work... We're supposed to be able to use the 49 in whichever way we want, either drip feeding an extra 7 a day, or saving up for a special occasion.

She did say, in a round about way, that maybe having 7 extra points a day will help me stay on track!! (as though it was my fault and I'd fallen off the wagon or something when actually I still had 13 weeklies left).

I politely told her that I find my daily allowance is more than enough each day, thank you very much, and that I don't need to dip into the weeklies unless something out of the ordinary happens. She just smiled and said "Don't give up! It really does work!". At which point I wanted to smack her round the face with some Frutees. Angry

She clearly didn't have anything helpful to say because, according to the system as it is now, I've actually not veered off plan at all...

I, on the other hand, totally buy into the fact that the more weeklies you use, the more chance you have of sts/gaining. Which is really irritating when you consider that you get loads more PP if you are trying to maintain, so how is it I've NOT used all my PP, and I've not even managed to sts??

Sorry for the rant, just really disheartened...

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:21

noway gaining sucks, esp as you were good and WITHIN your weekies, hence why i think not everyone CAN EAT ALL 49 but agree with no 2, you could have gained more (as sure i will on friday)

totally agree with what you said here

I, on the other hand, totally buy into the fact that the more weeklies you use, the more chance you have of sts/gaining. Which is really irritating when you consider that you get loads more PP if you are trying to maintain, so how is it I've NOT used all my PP, and I've not even managed to sts??

norma well done for sts

lou well done for eating with friends and staying within points

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:23

and again if wi is a day after you have eaten all 49, ie sat am after a fridays night out then you are likley to gain :(

i really dont understand the weekies

if you dont eat the, you may lose more, but if you do eat then you may sts, so why eat them? Hmm

sweetheart · 08/02/2011 14:27

Hi all,

Really busy at work today so just popping in to try and catch up quick.

Well done to abgirl, froot, sparkle, littlefriend and electric for your losses

sorry to those of you that haven't done so well this week, let yourself be a bit pissed off about it but make sure you get back to the plan asap to try and regain focus.

hello to bamboo

highH - fingers crossed for your dads test results and also for your WI tonight.

lgl - the only meal we eat as a family on weekends is our evening meal which we all eat the same, as wizzler says my dd is 10 and she is far to aware of the words "fat" and "diet" for my liking so I try to minimise her awareness of it. Weekends are harder, we went to McDonalds this weekend and I brought a low fat sandwich so I wouldn't eat anything there.

As for snack we have a cupboard with them in which I never enter! Out of sight, out of mind for me. I think it's important to have the stuff in the house so I can educate myself about making good food choices in various scenarios.

WI for me is tomorrow. At the very least this week I'd like to sts after our meals out this weekend. A loss would be brilliant obviously as even 0.5Ib would take me into the 10Stone bracket. If I put on I will be mega Angry as even with the meals out I still didn't use all my weeklies.

Good luck for the rest of the week
x

sweetheart · 08/02/2011 14:28

Oh yes, no way - what were you saying about maintenance points? I'm hoping to be there soon but I didn't know you get extra maintenance points.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:36

i put wrong thing in calcultor once and was allowed 34pp to maintain, thats an extra 5 a day so 25 a week extra

if maintaining are you allowed your 49weekies as well?

sweetheart you will be the proof in the pudding, you stayed within your weekies and should lose

but then again so did noway and she gained

HighHeidYin · 08/02/2011 14:41

Thanks for all you kind words about dad Smile

Am at work so not got time to reply to you individually, will read your new posts tongiht, but congrats the losers, gah to those who sts or put on. Keep going - we will get what we demand in the end!

WI tonight eek! Have been very good since the 'night out to forget' on Saturday. So vaguely hopeful that I will actually have lost something.

Discovered this morning that all my usual bras were in the wash. The washing is dd2's job but since she turned 16 she has inherited a social life and never seems to be actually in to do it. Hmm.

So rummaged around and found a bra I very rarely wear. Is a half cup one, from which my boobs do spilleth forth, which is why I only wear it in emergencies.

Well not today, much to my amazement! Looked down to find the cups were actually gaping at the top : O My boobs are shrinking!!!!

Now, for lots of people this would be a disastrous occurence. Not so for me. My huge boobs have been the bane of my life since I was about 14. My mum and my sisters all have the same problem. We call it The Curse of the Family.

So for them to shrink is a life long ambition! So happy. Can maybe start wearing bras which look pretty, unlike my present ones which look like they could be used to hold up the forth bridge (which is apparently falling apart : O )

Will bbl to update on wi. Be good or you will get a kick up the bum!

sweetheart · 08/02/2011 14:42

yes will be an interesting little experiment if nothing else. I do think that my body won't respond well to eating my weeklies as when i use my daily's I'm eating pretty much what I was on the old ww scheme to lose weight.

I opened this link to post something and now I've completly forgotten what it was Confused

sweetheart · 08/02/2011 14:45

HighH I feel your pain - the women of my family have what we call Hooker Hips (because my nan's surname was Hooker ntohing more untoward!) as we have all inherited her fat arse big hips!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 14:49

HHY anything more than a handful/mouthful is too much - whether boobs or willys Grin

sweetheart · 08/02/2011 15:02

Grin blondes I'm loving your work! Wink

HighHeidYin · 08/02/2011 15:21

sweetheart my sympathies. Not all we inherit from our parents is wanted.

blondes Shock Grin Grin

bluebump · 08/02/2011 16:45

I have a lot to catching up to do, I think I need to pop on this thread a bit more often! Well done to everyone who has had a loss this week.

I sts this week but considering I ate 15 points of toblerone on Friday night that's not too bad Blush Oh it tasted good but thankfully it's all gone so I can focus on this week!

hmc · 08/02/2011 17:07

Hi all - back from Florida (yesterday) and severely jet lagged. Apologies but not even going to attempt to catch up on last 10 days posts - suffice to say that I hope everyone is doing well?

I will be attending my class tomorrow for a weigh in. Anticipate a 2-3 lbs gain - was at DisneyWorld and park food consisted of chicken tenders and fries, hot dogs and fries - you get the picture! Must say I felt really sylph like in Florida - we have an obesity 'epidemic' in this country but nothing like what they have over there (it differs a bit though where you are in America - East Coast city slickers and California types tend to be slimmer)

Am quite philosophical about expected weight gain tomorrow - tis just a speed bump in the journey, and I am looking forward to getting back on track and eating good healthy food again

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 18:01

bluebump well done for sts

hmc sounds a fab holiday and hoping for small gain, last year i did 10lbs in 10days Blush took 2 mths to get my gain off :(

hmc · 08/02/2011 18:13

Holy moley Blondes - you've scared me now!
