Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

Hello all,

I have joined weight watchers on line today. Have spent a while writing my shopping list from the recipes. I thought I read there was also food classed as no points. ie. fruit and veg.

Can anyone give me tips on what to buy for snacks. Can I buy any fruit and anything else that is good. I think I can eat sugar free jelly. I do have a sweet tooth so am expecting withdrawals soon.

Any recommendations greatly welcome. Sorry if this has all been mentioned on this thread, but I didn't have time too lazy to read through the whole thread.

Thanks.

abgirl · 07/02/2011 17:06

Lou keep it up with Shred, are you measuring as well as weighing as it will be having an impact. I pointed it as 4PPs initially as that's what the tracker said was 20 mins intense activity, but am now putting it down as 3 as I'm finding it (slightly) easier. When I'm feeling brave/stupid enough to move up to Level 2 I expect I'll be back at feeling it's 4 PPs for a while.

Shoulders I get up and exercise first thing in the morning and that's working a lot better for me than previous attempts when I've said I'll exercise in the evening, and then run out of time.

letsgetloud welcome, most fruit and some veg is 0 points but it's worth checking especially on veg. Peas, sweet potatoes and parsnips all have points - I stick to butternut squash, brocolli, carrots and green beans for 0 PPs. Snacks I have are WW crisps, sugar free jellies (which are 0pps), jacobs savour biscuits (3pps for 5) and ryvita minis (3pps per bag). If I need a chocolate hit I normally go for choc options drinks, but I think maltesers bunnies are meant to be quite low on points too.

froot · 07/02/2011 18:26

Omfg lost 3.5 !!! Ooops that was after saying to mama best not to lose too quickly Blush ..... but in my defence I had Put a lb on last week so it's really 2.5 loss over 2 weeks .

Am fresh out of ww meeting sitting I car eating a chicken sausage that I wrapped in tin foil before I came - I bet I smelt funny in the meeting ! But am off to me mams for a cuppa now and didn't want to be tempted by any goodies at her house as am planning a cream egg later !

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2011 19:28

froot congrats :)

welcome letsgetloud

wizzler · 07/02/2011 20:25

Froot, thats a fantastic loss : many congrats!
Welcome Letsgetloud.. for treats try ryvita (1pp each) with a ittle tub of philadelphia extra lite(1ppt) with kiwi slices.
high, and sweetheart hope the respective patients are ok.
Lou, 1lb is still a loss,so don't be too Sad. It might be that you are one of those people where the extra effort doesnt pay off until the next week
Vnum, I think of those of you near goal as pioneers for the rest of us. Dont you go soft on us! you getting to goal this week will give half of MN a boost.. I am sure you can do it.

Am off to claim the remote control now in time for Biggest Loser!

sparkle101 · 07/02/2011 20:40

Evening everyone,

Quick update from me - 2lbs off this week, so that's 13.5 so far (missed out on stone by 0.5lb dammit!) Really pleased with that after my stuff on Friday. There was a lady in my class today that has loost 50lb since sep 20th! Amazing stuff.

Congrats on everyone else's losses too!

DuplicitousBitch · 07/02/2011 20:48

froot and sparkle well done indeed. i am not at all jealous, oh no. my 1lb a week will do (sobs)

HighHeidYin · 07/02/2011 21:04

Thanks everyone Smile

Took dad to the docs. He is very anaemic from constantly losing blood and is very unsteady on his feet because of it. They still don't know why he is losing despite having done loads of tests. Doc gave him suppositories and he is to see his specialist in two weeks.

Is awful to see when your parents get older and become ill. He was the most active man I know and he is virtually housebound now, despite being only 68. Sad

Anyhoo, sorry to hear about dh's nan sweetheart Ouch! Hope she is on the mend really soon.

Welcome letsgetloud Smile I love the ww fruities and rich chocolate bars yum. Can get them here if you don't attend a class.

froot, sparkle and all other losers well done to you all!!!!

WI for me tomorrow night, gulp. Absolutely no idea what to expect as it's been such a weird week.

Oh, and I bought the infamous SHRED today!!!! Not sure how I am going to get on with it as I have a bit of a dodgy shoulder. Can always sell it on again if I can't manage it.

Hope all the WI's tomorrow go well. x

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2011 21:22

Well done sparkle

hhy it's awful seeing parents ill/sick :( my
Mum was quite ill last year with heart problems and really brought it home to me that one day both my mum and dad won't be here :(

HighHeidYin · 07/02/2011 21:30

It's an awful thought isn't it blondes?

This is the first time it's really hit home that time is starting to run out with them. Sad Makes me determined to appreciate them a lot more.

He had part of his bowel removed because of the chrones about 10 yrs ago. But it's looking like he will have to have the rest removed now. He really doesn't want it done as it's a really major operation. And with him being so weak atm I can't see them being willing to perform it.

Sorry to be so morose. Hopefully he will pick up again.

androbbob · 07/02/2011 21:33

Been an odd day today - very windy (the weather not me!!) but DS still wanted to go to the park. So off we went for half an hour. he wanted to play 'hide and seek' and 'tag' so got some exercise!

Went to my gym class today - something up with the music thingy and we were not able to have it as loud as usual. Then the fire alarm went off (caused by staff making toast) so we had to evacuate the building! Felt sorry for the pool users - mainly kids - who were huddled by their fire door not going out!

Anyway - eaten really well, including duck, which was delicious!

Well done to sparkle and froot with their losses.

Hope your dad is ok HighHeidYin

Hoping to break the stone barrier this week - planning a quick half hour gym session tomorrow lunch and then also in the evening in an attempt to lose that infernal pound!!

Keep tracking!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2011 21:40

hhy horrible :( my parents have always been there for me and hate to think one day they won't be

androbbob sounds a very weird day. Lol @ staff burning toast

LittleFriendSusan · 07/02/2011 21:44

Evening all :)

Blondes you made me snigger with the sausage comment Grin

vnmum - step away from the scales! I too am guilty of weighing too often, and of course my scales bear no relation to those at WW so completely pointless, but can't help myself stepping on in the morning... You still have a few days, so if you make sensible, healthy choices in the next few days you can still do it.

DB well done on the loss. I am aiming to get below 11 stone too - 11st7 today so am on the way...

mumto2 - great loss :)

HHY - I hope your dad is OK...

Sparkles I will have a look in a minute for you...

futurity, loublou, froot & sparkles well done on the losses :)

letsgetloud welcome :) I try to snack on fruit, but do allow myself a couple of squares of chocolate or an Options drink if I crave something sweet. Or WW yogurt.

Well I WI tonight and lost a paltry 0.5lb. Got my 1st silver 7, but am still a bit disappointed - hopefully will be a bigger loss next week. I just checked back through my tracker & I had 4 days where I ate just under my daily points, 2 where I was just over (so used weeklies) and then the fateful Saturday night where I used 30 of my weekly points Blush. So I still had 10 weeklies left, but obviously used the majority on the one day. The previous 2 weeks I had used all of my weekly points but evenly spread through the week. So I'm going to try to do that this week again and see how it goes...

Good luck to all WI tomorrow :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/02/2011 22:02

lfs perverts the lot of you Grin

Well done on loss :)

LittleFriendSusan · 07/02/2011 22:12

sparkle101 - those ingredients + 600g stewing steak come out at 41pp in the recipe builder. 700g comes out at 43PP - that's using a 45g Coleman's Beef & Ale Casserole sauce.

I wouldn't add water in a slow cooker as you don't need much liquid. Or use half a bottle of wine and half stock. I would brown the meat first but sure it would be fine without...

LittleFriendSusan · 07/02/2011 22:13

Blondes Grin filthy mind, I know...

DuplicitousBitch · 07/02/2011 22:26

lfs i am 11 6 we are almost ww twins!

letsgetloud · 08/02/2011 00:00

Thanks all for the no points tip. I am new at this dieting weight watchers malarkey.

Plan to start tomorrow.

Well done to those of you who have lost weight.

Hope you don't mind me asking another question.

Does the rest of your family just eat whatever you have preparted for yourself or do you have to cook seperately for them.

Do you also buy goodies into the house that you yourself cannot eat? I am considering only allowing fruit in the house for everyone Hmm. Think there maybe an uprising though

abgirl · 08/02/2011 06:46

Woo-hoo 2lbs off todayGrin and first silve 7 which was one of my goals this month. And that was despite a pizza express last Thursday and meatballs/crumble/lots of wine on Sunday - have tracked and exercised all week though so that is clearly workingSmileSmile

abgirl · 08/02/2011 06:48

letsgetloud we all eat a healthy evening meal together but I have different food fo breakfast and lunch. Have some treats for DSs in the house but I buy things I'm not keen on and keep them in a tin in a cupboard so I have to make a real effort and think about it if I want to take any of them...

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/02/2011 07:25

LGL dh can eat anything and not gain weight Envy so often we eat different meals, but no dc to consider, but if having say spag bol/lasagne etc, i do small portion for me and top up with veg and dh has large portion and tops up with cheese Envy

abgirl well done on loss and getting silver 7 !!! :)

bamboobutton · 08/02/2011 07:39

hi everyone

ordered my WW at home pack which i am expecting today. lost lots of weight with the old points system so have high hopes of success this time having failed at online food diaries (food focus and daily burn)

am 5'4" and ballooned to 12st from two pregnancies and i'm aiming for 9st, which is my pre pg weight.

will probably only dip into this thread with my weigh-ins but i need other people to know so i am less likely to failGrin

going · 08/02/2011 08:29

This week I have STS. Disapointed as I have done lots of exercise this week and I was 2lbs down in Staurday when I had a sneeky peak.
