Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

Thanks for the welcome! :)

Froot - I read your post with interest - you lost 22lb betw April - June, which is exactly what I am trying to do between now and end April. Please share how you did it? Were you really strict and did you exercise loads?

So far for me (only been doing this since Sunday) I have not gone over my daily allowance of 29 points, and am hoping to keep it that way. I walk (briskly) around 35 min every day (Mon-Fri) and am waiting for the Xbox kinect Shape Up disc to arrive, and will then aim to try do an hour of that 3x a week - is it enough to get me to my target do you think?

MyMamaToldMe · 03/02/2011 11:24

Wow!! 78pp!! Bet it's yummy though! ;)

DuplicitousBitch · 03/02/2011 11:44

hi all, how do you allmanage to keep up. i can't hold that much info in my head.

arfing at the 78pp burger, have chips with it (evil laugh)

sweetheart chin up, i feel your pain. i fell off the wagon and straight in dh's birthday cake on tuesday. back on the straight and narrow now but generally fed up at slow progress.

androbbob · 03/02/2011 13:03

duplicious - I can only keep up by having MN open in two tabs - one to read and one to post in!

Knitting, aimsmum, MyMama, Smoggii and Rilly - welcome and good luck! We can do it together!!

sweethear - I know how you feel - _ should have had my 10% and 1st stone by now but for a period of up and down over January. I think it was my body rebelling to losing this weight!

I did have a good evening last night - sorted out my wardrobe and found 4 new tops to wear for work and two for weekend wear! They were mostly new but bought when I thought they would fit!! Suffice to say there are now two tops that are too large! If anyone is a 18/20 and wants a lovely thick white shirt (3/4 length sleeve, line pattern in it and has a slight stretch - was expensive but given to me by an Aunt) and a blue / green flowery thin tunic top (great with jeans or for work iwht trousers - covers all but needs a vest top underneath) then I will gladly post them on to you for free! Just send me a PM and no one will ever know! Saves someone going to the charity shop to buy a couple of tops to keep them going!

Dont get me started on on Biggest Loser - just shows you its not about teaching them good habits - you would never be given an opoprtunity to eat 20 cakes between 2 of you. If I did that then I would not expect to lose weight that week! It is all sensational TV and they will all have big losses this week to keep our attention. I think the last episode where I assume they will get everyone who started back together will be interesting - to see if those that went out early had lost a load of weight. If that was me then I would want to be noticeably slimmer!

Better get back to my grapes and yoghurt!

HighHeidYin · 03/02/2011 13:14

Afternoon all!

blondes OUCH! You have my sympathies. Had to have root canal treatment not so long ago and it wasn't the most pleasant experience Hmm

Welcome smoggii and rilly Great to see new faces. This is the most successful weight loss thread I have ever been on so you are in good hands!

Had an absolutely fabulous time last night at the dance class. Such good fun. Learned three show routines with sparkly canes and top hats. So so funny. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. Cannot wait until next week!

Off to get my hair cut now - my reward for getting my first sparkly 7. Have a lovely afternoon Smile

HighHeidYin · 03/02/2011 13:16

Oooh meant to say that this is me well into my FOURTH week on the diet. This must be the longest I have ever stuck to a diet and I am still loving it! Feeling so motivated. It's very unlike me.

Am even starting to believe that this time I am actually going to do it Shock

So it must all be down to you lovely ladies. This thread really keeps me going. So a huge thank you to you all Smile

loubloutwinmum · 03/02/2011 13:22

Hi all,

Am so tired today. Have both DD's off school ill, not much sleep due to listening to them coughing all night and feeling the need to check on them every half an hour! They are both tired and seem intent on killing each other. Haven't had chance to do any housework at all and I look like I've been dug up! Rant over...

I lied - also, not got the energy to think about food and eating the right things today! No idea what I can do for tea as really just want to ask DH to get fish and chips so I don't have to think about it! My positivity seems to have left me today!

Also, the Biggest Loser is awful isn't it - last week was the worst with the cakes. They do not seem to be getting to the root of the reasons behind their over eating. I am hoping the ones that have been kicked off have continued to lose the weight at home as I really think they should all stay for the whole 8 weeks or whatever. Then at the end, the one that has lost the most is the Biggest Loser but they've all had the opportunity and support and you are not penalised if you are struggle. If you are not doing so well, surely you need more help!!!

Anyway, well done on the losses. Will eat a banana and try to think of something I can do for tea!!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 13:26

hhy i had root canal done a few weeks ago - my teeth are in bad shape :(

thank gawd i found a nhs dentist - £46 for a root canal, compared to £530 private

mouth getting less numb but need lunch as starving,so going to have some salmon and veg -soft and low in pp

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 13:28

lou poor ill dc and you :( be strong, stay away from bad stuff!!!

and yes the biggest loser gets me big time - im often ranting here

IHeartIona · 03/02/2011 13:47

Hi everyone
haven't been here for about a week now, and have just read 10 pages - you guys sure know how to chat!
well done to all on the losses so far, and for those with small losses hopefully you will do better next week but remember it all counts!
I've got WI tonight and find I tend to eat quite low points on WI day - anyone else?

today so far
crumpets 5pp

clementine 0pp
tescos own brand quavers 2pp

lunch: tuna and pasta (120g) salad with lemon juice dressing and parsley - 7pp
banana

dinner: ww oval pizza 7 pp I think (after meeting)

means I can have some treats when I get home Smile

also wanted to ask if anyone has any tasty slow cooker recipes with low points they can share please.

I did a nice Moroccan chicken last week that was good in case anyone fancies it - chicken thighs, baby carrots, onion, cinnamon, chicken broth, cook on low for 8 hours.
served with 100g rice plus extra green veg.

sweetheart · 03/02/2011 14:41

Blondes you really are passionate about TBL aren't you Grin It made me so cross last week I may have to stop watching it! Sorry your teeth are hurting, hope they are better soon.

Just found out my sister (who is the same weight as me but a couple of inches taller) lost 2Ib this week - she has lost about 12Ib's to my 8Ib's and I've been doing more exercise than her Sad

DB - I keep up by making notes as I read through the thread so that I can post to everyone, only do it when I have time though.

loub - sorry to hear the kids are ill. If you really must have a takeaway tonight I would suggest KFC. As far as I'm aware it is the lowest in points for a decent portion. Or maybe a chicken kebab with lots of salad.

andro - your clearout sounds fab! I was thinking of doing the same to my wardrobe while I'm stuck at home after my op - will give me something to do I suppose!

NormaSknockers · 03/02/2011 15:50

Afternoon all,

WOW - I have missed a lot sorry about that, mix of feeling like crap, again, and having a big, rather early, spring clean Grin

sweetheart don't be disheartened by your sisters loss compared to yours, every one differs, you can't compare loss between two people because you simply don't know how their bodies will react to it.

Ouch Blondes hope you're not in too much pain. Blimey at 78 points for a burger, wonder if it's worth them? I like a good burger but not sure I'd want to spend 78 points on one....maybe Wink

Mama it's impossible to say if all the exercise etc will ensure you reach your goal when you want to. Yes, if you stick to your points and excercise then obviously it will all help and you'll see the weight come off but please don't set your sights to high as it can be disheartening if you don't see the results you have your hopes pinned on. There's every chance you can achieve it by the time you want to but you also don't know how fast your body will drop the weight. I'm not trying to put a dampner on things or say you can't do it as that's not what I'm saying but I know what it's like when you don't see the results you'd hoped for. Just don't put too much pressure on yourself :)

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 17:19

tbh not sure i can justify 78pp on a burger Grin

trying to find the lowest meal that i would like, either pasta/chicken/salmon -will eat anything apart from slime mushrooms

any suggestions?

NormaSknockers · 03/02/2011 17:26

Blondes there's a few lower choices, New York Strip Steak with Fries - 26PPs, Jack Daniel's Grill Salmon - 31PPs, Classic Hamburger - 38PPs, Wicked Chicken - 33PPs, Spicy Diablo Pasta - 18PPs, all those are as served so guessing they would come with fries etc :)

OP posts:
NoWayNoHow · 03/02/2011 17:55

Ooh, Blondes I'd go with steak and fries! 26PP seems like a bargain for it! I bet the pasta is also lovely though, but then I adore spicy food.

Also went to dentist today - infection for which I too will need a root canal. Tell me, how on earth do we manage to sync AF AND dental treatment??? Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 17:55

tbh i would prob leave the chips or ask for a jacket - not a chip person

the spicy diablo pasta sounds nice

just looked at menu online and have 2 dishs called

Dragonfire Chicken

A juicy fire-grilled chicken breast glazed in Kung Pao sauce and served over jasmine rice pilaf with pineapple pico de gallo, Mandarin oranges and fresh steamed broccoli.

Chicken Picatta Pasta

Sautéed citrus seasoned chicken breast, fresh California heirloom garlic, marinated artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, capers and fresh basil tossed with multi-grain angel hair pasta in white wine lemon sauce.

both sound yummy, wonder what they would be pp?

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 17:57

noway :( at RC - have to say tbh it wasnt that bad, a lot of drilling and then as my back tooth was so infected it needed antib;s shoved down it for 2 weeks and then did the dental work 2 weeks later

what else can we sync Grin

NormaSknockers · 03/02/2011 18:32

Sorry Blondes neither of those are in the book, usually you can find the nutritional values online so you should be able to work out the points from that. The Cajun Cream Chicken Penne is 30PPs so I'm guessing points value would be similar.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 03/02/2011 18:47

Course they are both not in the book Hmm Angry

But even if in the book whose to say that the PP will be right and there have been some discrepancies :(

Both eating out guide and shopping guide have many things not in them that the old books did :(

'sighs'

Off to body combat to kick arse/ bounce and dribble :( - hoping for a loss tomorrow :)

HighHeidYin · 03/02/2011 19:47

sweetheart you said you were exercising a lot more than your sis. That means you are building more muscle, which weighs heavier than fat. So the chances are you will actually have lost a lot more in fat than your sis but the scales won't show that. A tape measure will though.

Just been to the gyn. Did sooooo much better than last time and loved it. had my mp3 with me this time with all my fave motivating music and that mmade all the diff. When a song I love comes on I find myself grinning like an idiot.

Is absolutely wild up here - lashing rain, flooding and gale winds. Scary.

bigTillyMint · 03/02/2011 19:48

Blondes Dunno if they still do them but chicken fajitas used to be OKish, and you could always stuff the filling into less of the wraps, and avoid the sour cream, etc?

abgirl · 03/02/2011 19:48

Been having a catch up and squirming reading about dental treatment - it's one of those things that makes my skin crawl a bit! Hope you are feeling better now blondes!

I am having a bit of a tough week, I work full time and DH has been mainly a SAHD but has increased his PT hours this week to 25 hours a week - this has meant I'm now doing all pre-/school drop offs and not getting home till at least 6 so missing most of the evening with DSs as they go to bed at 7Sad. On top of that DS2 has been teething (at age 3 and 1/2) and not sleeping well at all, was up last night for 3 hoursBiscuit. Reached the end of my tether after some issues at work this morning so came home and slept for the afternoon and then used clubcard vouchers in pizza express for tea - really pleased to have kept relatively low points though, a leggera pizza which was only 14 PPs and ice cream for pudding. On day 4 of the Shred too so that is a good thing I think...

NoWayNoHow · 03/02/2011 20:03

abgirl, wow sounds like a rough week. Well done you on staying so disciplined though - if that had been me, you'd have found me face down in a stuffed crust!

If anyone wants to know where I am, I'm on a murderous rampage hunting down the creators of the online WW recipes. Spent an HOUR AND A HALF making sweet potato gnocchi - followed recipe exactly, and ended up with what amounted to mashed potato in tinned tomatoes. Needless to say, both bowls went into the bin and DH has hurried off to get a Chinese - king prawn chow mein which I think is 9PP (based on the fact that mushroom chow mein is 6PP, and 100g king prawns is 3PP). In the mean time, I am mixing a Bacardi and Diet Coke in an effort to forget the whole sorry business! Angry

androbbob · 03/02/2011 20:07

Wild and wet here too - lots of things making noises outside! Our Front fence is looking at bid sad - at about a 45 degree angle! Expecting it to be flat on the ground by tomorrow! We are getting a new one erected on 15th Feb, so if it falls down then that is one less job to do to take it down!

Right - will someone give me a pep talk please? I am struggling at the moment - too many snacks of an evening after having a lovely healthy lunch and tea - like small chilli and rice for lunch (6PP) and then stir fry ham and mushrooms for tea (4PP) and two yoghurts and a pear as well as breakfast. So why did a packet of crisps, four biscuits and a small bar of choc need to be eaten? No wonder my weight is up and down - I am sitting here bloated to hell and I know this is the point that I give up. I will not give up though as I want to do this for the last time. So come on ladies - sort me out!

Caught up on spreadsheet and we are up to 31lbs this week already! Wow Wow Wow!!! Grin

HighHeidYin · 03/02/2011 20:10

Aw abgirl that sounds really stressful. Is it set to continue or will your dhs hours drop back down again?

I take my hat off to those who work ft with little ones. Must be so difficult.
