Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

As much as I'd want the pizza gibbberish I'd probably go for something else only because like you say I'm not sure I could stop at one slice Blush Good on you for planning to have a sarnie instead Wink

Well done on your loss Lee & another well done on your 5%, go you!

benbenandme · 26/01/2011 20:16

Another one pound off for me tonight Smile

bellavita · 26/01/2011 20:23

Lee, well done!

androbbob · 26/01/2011 20:32

Oh for goodness sake I have managed to put a 1lb on this week. I have tracked well, exercised and thought I had done ok. To be fair I was stuggling with my stomach the last day or so and was feeling bloated and had been suffering stomach pains last night and today, a bit like last week so I reckon I may be eating something that doesnt agree with me.

Anyway, onwards and downwards - hoping it will show next week! I went to my weight management class on monday and had lost two pounds then so I had expected at least one at WW, so I am hoping it was fluid / waste!!

I went to the gym Sunday, monday and tuesday to try to maximise my losses for this week. Strange how your body does this! I wouldnt mind if I had pigged out but I havent!

Anyway - welcome to the newbies - ignore my bad week - just a blip!

Vnmum - I chuckled at your reference to All Bran - maybe I should have had some of that!

Another funny thing - I have only lost whole pounds never halfs so I do wonder if the scales have a setting on them which make them include the halves or not! Maybe norma can shed light on this as she is helping out at a meeting. I keep meaning to ask my leader but it seems such a daft question! Previously I have lost 1.5 or 0.5 lbs but in the 10 weeks of classes I have been going to there has never been a half on the scales. It makes no difference in the long run, just pondering!

sweetheart · 26/01/2011 20:32

just popping in quick - will catch up later.

2Ibs for me today - woohoo! That takes me to 7.5Ibs total so I got my silver seven. That makes me 1Ib away from my 5% weight and 1.5Ibs away from dropping down into the next stone bracket so my mini goal for next week is to try and lose 1.5Ib

bellavita · 26/01/2011 20:35

Andro, don't be disheartened.

Well done sweetheart.

Norma, so you really help out in the class? Go you!

NormaSknockers · 26/01/2011 20:53

I do Bella Grin The meeting I atend was rammed a few weeks back so my leader asked if someone would mind be an extra weigher and I volunteered and I help every week now - I was soooo nervous at first but into the swing of it now Grin

Oh Andro what a complete bummer :( Don't be disheartened, is there anything you can think of that might have caused it? Are you due on or ovulating maybe? I find that can cause wtare retention, can you think of anything in particular you've been eating that could cause the bloating?

With the scales yes they do show half pounds (I had quite a few on Mon) all the WW scales are calibrated so no matter what meeting you attend and in what part of the country they would all give the same readings IYSWIM? Grin

Well done ben and sweetheart on your losses Grin

I'm watching Will My Crash Diet Kill Me - interesting and shocking viewing!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2011 21:20

Well done Lee,sweetness and benandme on loss's

Androbbob - comiserations on gaining :(

My scales at home don't show 1/2lbs and the weeks I sts I wonder if I have lost 1/2 a lb - but I will never know lol

Dh made me a delicious low PP salad with 100g chicken roll and a slice of dairylea light cut and salad cream light for 3pp :)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 26/01/2011 21:35

This will be the lightest thread around, I can't keep up at all at the moment, apologies.

Commiserations Androbbob, it is very annoying if you have tracked etc and that happens. Fingers crossed you'll get a big loss next week to compensate.

I will report back tomorrow on whether you can lose weight eating all daily, weekly and 28/28 activity points, oh dear !

NormaSknockers · 27/01/2011 08:22

Good morning all Grin

Good luck to all of those weighing in today!

Andro how are you feeling this morning?

Anyone know what they're having for lunch today? I seem to be a bit of cycle at the moment, soup, omlette or crackers and tbh I'm a bit boooooored - so what's everyone else's lunch of choice?

OP posts:
catfunt · 27/01/2011 09:04

Hi can I join you all? joined my local class on tuesday so just starting out..

one question, do i have to eat the whole amount of daily points? As im the size of a small country I have an enormous 41 points to use and yesterday I had 38 despite eating loads! im worried i wont lose if im constantly stuffing my face?

i do need to go shopping today as i have bare cupboards so any essentials you would recommend?

NormaSknockers · 27/01/2011 09:18

Hello & welcome Cat well done for getting along to a meeting & for getting signed up. You should really be aiming to eat all your daily po

OP posts:
NormaSknockers · 27/01/2011 09:22

Sorry, my bloody iPhone posting before I was ready!

You should try & eat all your daily points if possible as they're designed to suit the weight you need to lose if that makes sense? You will lose weight I promise, I know it doesn't seem possible when you feel like you're eating loads but as long as you track & stick to those points I promise you the weight will come off. The daily points decreases quickly as you drop 1 point each time you lose 7lbs so you'll find your daily points allowance changes regulary :)

LittleFriendSusan · 27/01/2011 09:31

Hello :) I'm another one who'd like to join you all... I've been reading the WW threads for a few weeks and have decided to finally bite the bullet and join in.

I lost nearly 4 stone about 5 years ago doing WW... I got to my goal weight of 9.5 stone after a real battle to lose the last 1/2 stone. Put a few pounds back on straight away (sheer relief at getting there made me pig out a bit I think Blush) and said I'd go back when I'd lost them. Of course, I never did lose them. Also then passed my driving test and increased my hours at work - result: no time to walk anywhere anymore (I used to walk everywhere, several miles a day). Coupled with my love of cooking and all things food, several years down the line, I am now 2.5 stone heavier and not happy :(.

Soooo (sorry for the rambling on there!), I have joined WW again. This is my 2nd week - I WI on a Monday evening (not great after the weekend, but the only class I can make it to now!) and I lost 4.5lb in the first week so am very chuffed! I feel like I'm eating more than before (I use all of my daily points and most of my weekly) and still have a cheeky glass of red most evenings - all good!

Norma - I have been having soup for lunch most days so not much to inspire you there! Have had to forgo one of my lunchtime staples of mackerel / sardines on toast or smoked mackerel & potato salad - I love my oily fish, but can't believe how high in points it is! Down to a weekly treat now...

I bought some tinned grapefruit salad (in juice) from Asda the other day, thinking it would be nice for breakfast. I had half a tin yesterday morning after my porridge and was Shock to find it came up as 6 points for 1/2 tin (so a whopping 12 points for a whole tin?!!). Surely that can't be right? I read somewhere if you drain the juice off it's 0 points so did that this morning... but there was barely 100ml of unsweetened grapefruit juice in 1/2 tin - how can that equate to 6 points???!!!

Anyway, I appear to have written an epic so will stop now!! Hope to join in regularly if I can keep up with the pace!

Good luck to anyone WI today!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2011 09:38

MORNING EVERYONE!!!!

good luck wynkyn with todays WI - i have also seemed to have eaten all my weekly's for the first time so will see what happens for my wi tomorrow

welcome cat and LFS

norma i generally eat jackets/soup/omelette/sandwich for lunch - depends what mood im in

off to see a friend for lunch - hope its gonna be healthy

LittleFriendSusan · 27/01/2011 09:45

Meant to say, I'm not too impressed with our group leader. She tells everyone not to eat their weekly points as she reckons most people have stopped losing so much since it changed.

When I WI, she said well done for the loss, and I commented that that was eating all of my dailies and all but 2 of the 49. She then said, well, try not to use them if you can... they're there if you need to, but best not to? Eh??? AFAIC I had a good loss so it's obviously working for me? I know it was my 1st week, so was expecting to lose more than usual, but still? Am going to ignore her and do the same this week and see how it goes, but was a little bit peeved!

I was also wondering if it depends what you actually use the points on... I do eat fairly healthily as a rule - so my extra points were used on things like oily fish, olive oil, small glass of red wine, etc. I tend to cook from scratch and don't really eat processed foods. I don't really eat in between meals and rarely have crisps, chocolate, etc. Perhaps if I'd eaten the same amount of points but used them on chocolate, cakes, etc, I wouldn't have lost much? Just pondering really... sorry if that sounds a bit pretentious, it's not meant like that!

(Saying that, I did use some of my points on cake! I came home on Sunday and DP and the kids had made a Victoria sponge while I was out. Had to eat a piece as they'd gone to the effort, and one very small slice worked out at 8 PP. Eek.)

futurity · 27/01/2011 10:00

why is it the week I decided to start this people start giving me food! First the cookies and then last night I baby sat for a friend and she gave me a chocolate pear pudding! people never give me food...why are they starting now...I'm DOOOOOMED! Wink

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2011 10:09

take it, says thanks and squirt with washing up liquid

lfs i generally use weekies on crap treats or meal out - as i said fist time ive eaten all 49 Blush this week and tbh im not really sure on what Hmm

but the calculator says i have

Willabywallaby · 27/01/2011 10:09

Morning all, well done to the losers, better luck next week to the gainers.

Had my first weigh in last night and lost 2lb, so on my way.

I have a question. I thought 175ml wine was 3 points, it was on my phone app, but just read this weeks mag and it says 5....

Have a good day all. Trying a chicken noodle cup a soup for lunch and loads if fruit. Tesco fingers of pineapple, mango, and melon is my fave.

NormaSknockers · 27/01/2011 10:28

Welcome Little, sorry to hear your leader isn't so great though! The weekly points are to be used however you want to, you can use 7 a day, all in one go, spread them across a few days or not use them at all - it really is up to you and you can also use them on anything you want to too. I mostly use mine on things like take aways or chocolate Grin

I think you're leader telling you not to use them is very unprofessional and she's not doing her job properly IMO she's meant to be there to support and guide you not tell you that you shouldn't be using points that are there to be used Hmm

I use mine every week, sometimes I use every single one sometimes I have 7 left. I did the week before last not use any and although I lost 3lbs that week that was only my second biggest loss and it was only because I gained the week before due to my period and over eating all weekend Blush Grin

Survived buffet number 1 by having large bowl of carrot and Ginger soup and a ryvita with sweet chilli Philly light (yum) beforehand so had 1 tiny egg sandwich 1 picnic egg and a shared packet of crisps and lotsa fruit . 1 buffet and weekend away to go !

I have got 30 day shred and that has 3 twenty min workouts on it tho with warm up and cool down it's 25 mins . Jeans loose round back of thighs so definitely some change in shape !!

My favoured lunch is any John west tuna lunch with a chopped half cucumber mixed in . I think it's delicious - and only 5 to 6 pp depending on which one -but last time when some of you tried you said it tasted like cat food !

Favourite sweet snack is a ww choc dessert mixed with mashed raspberry sugar free jelly - HUGE and yummy black foresty flavour for just 2 Pp . Oh and I agree rich toffee ww bars - I have one every day !

LeeWT · 27/01/2011 10:41

wallaby - didn't want to call you willy ;-) don't get me started on wine. We had (well I instigated) a debate about this last night at ww. The shopping guide says a glass of blossom hill, red white or rose, is 4pp. There are six glasses in a 750ml bottle making a bottle a whopping 24pp!!! It is 3pp for a glass of ww wine but that's still 18pp. For a "normal" glass of wine then you are looking at anything between 5-6pp.

And so the debate raged on and most of us collectively decided that a vodka and diet something (3pp) or a bottle of magners light (2pp) is the way to go!

And indeed is the way i'm going tonight.. I'm off to the supermarket to buy magners light for me and two of the girls doing ww as we are going to a BYO Thai tonight! God I need to get out - can't wait! :-D

Monring everyone, welcome to all the new people - this thread is great and helpful and supportive, and slap your bum when you've been bad... well maybe not.

Apologies for not remembering names, DD having unexpected nap so posting quickly! I ate all my weekly points last week and my dailies and lost 4.5lb they are obviously there for a reason, they wouldn't give them otherwise. My leader said the same about not eating them but I still am!

For lunches I am having small portion of pasta with pesto or chicken. It feels me up so much better than a sandwich and I enjoy it more.

Have friend with baby coming over later, hoping to take a walk with the babies to the pub, although then there is food! Must be strong and have something small.

Well done froot for managing the buffet, you should be really proud, I would never have managed that!

Well done willaby for the loss and comiserations to andro for the gain, stay focussed and you will see a drop next week, who knows how the female body works?!?!
