Buda - do NOT do daily weigh ins. Stick to a once a week weigh in. Weight fluctuates all the time for all kinds of reasons - a really big poo will shift most of that kilo or it could be water retention. Keep a food and exercise diary - religiously - and ensure you drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day. You need to stop thinking about "being good" - think about this as a lifestyle change - you want a fit healthy body and mind and to do that you need to treat them both right. So out with any high cal processed stuff and in with lovely nutritious home made food. Out with huge piled up plates and in with portion control (switch to a smaller sized plate for a month - its amazing how that trick works). Out with alcohol and contaminants for your body - in with treating it right, lots of water and green tea. Out with beating your self up about things - in with treating yourself right - set a target and a reward for hitting that target and work at it. Incorporate different types of exercise into your life to challenge your body - gardening, shred etc - your body is used to walking the dogs and x-trainer so you need to shock it to really expend those calories. You can do it.

Here endeth the sermon.

Knotty - your "heavens to murgatroyd" made me giggle and think of TopCat! Loved that programme.

Thinbride - make sure you do some exercise again today and it shouldnt show up on friday. Well done with the running - keep it up.

knottyhair · 13/04/2011 09:21

Morning! Thinbride, well done on your run! Karma, hope you get to Shred today without the interruptions. Buda, really good advice from Dinky, it's about getting your head in the right place and keeping those promises to yourself. You can do it. Having said that, I had my takeaway last night Grin but it was lovely. Only had 1 glass of wine. Don't think it was too bad, although I'm pretty sure I went over my calorie allowance for probably the second time this week. AF has also arrived (early - thanks for that!), so I'm not holding out a lot of hope for a loss on Friday. Not exercising today as my legs & bum are still sore, but me & DS are walking to our local outdoor museum which is a good half an hour walk each way, and up hill on the way home so better than nothing! Will have the healthiest option available for lunch there, and am making Lighter Lamb Burgers (half mince & half couscous) with sweet potato oven chips and salad for tea. Have a good one!

fedupofnamechanging · 13/04/2011 09:33

Hi everyone.

Was within my calorie allowance yesterday, although I did eat a 2 finger kitkat and 4 squares of chocolate. I did resist opening the wine though - alcohol always makes me hungry and I worry less about calories if I've had a drink, so am more inclined to over eat.

Today I am making chicken and vegetable soup, although I forgot to get the chicken out of the freezer, so it will be a late dinner, I think.

Am also toying with the idea of sanding and painting the skirting boards and door frames in the kitchen. Have to pull up the floor tiles this week and my kitchen needs serious attention. Will be good exercise, if I could just tear myself away from the laptop Smile

Shaxx · 13/04/2011 11:35

Hi everyone.
Well done to all you runners and shredders! Keep it going!

Great advice from Dinky as usual.

Something really strange happened to me yesterday -
I was sitting at the bus stop early morning to go into work (usually I drive but kids are off with dh and he needed the car) reading my book when a man said to me
'excuse me. I was driving past and I had to stop because I thought you looked so beautiful'.
I was a bit suspicious (as all Londoners are) and waited for him to come out with some 'and I've lost my wallet and need some change' story but no, he was quite genuine!
He was clearly mad but it made my day, if not my year lol Grin

Anyway off to tidy and start packing as we go on holiday tomorrow! woohoo!

I shall be back next week as we don't have any internet where we're going.
Hopefully, I won't have too much holiday weight to shift.

Hope you all have a good day and week.

fedupofnamechanging · 13/04/2011 11:45

That's lovely Shaxx

dinkystinky · 13/04/2011 11:51

Ah, that's lovely Shaxx Grin

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 13/04/2011 12:50

Aww Shaxx thats lovely! It would of made my day too, have a great holiday.

Buda · 13/04/2011 13:22

Aw Shaxx that's lovely! Grin

Thanks all. Esp Dinky. I am crap though. I know what I need to do. I know I feel better if I do it. But I can't stick to it and get my head into the right place. Have to say I lol'd at you saying my body is used to the cross trainer Dinky. I have been on it once in a year! Blush And did shred once. Blush I know I need to do these things but do I do them? No. I only walk the dogs because they nag me!

Anyway - today has been good so far. SLice of rye bread with a small amount of peanut butter and a banana. Was in town at lunch and went into a cafe and had a bagel with smoked salmon and a small amount of cream cheese and a coffee. Feeling quite full now. Dinner will be a veggie stir-fry.

I had botox yesterday! Went for a consultation and ended up going for it! No noticeable results yet. Anyway - the doctor who did it said I should get my cholesterol checked as judging from my eyes she thinks I may have hereditary high cholesterol. I also had allergy testing done on Friday and that doc suggested I see a pulmonologist as my lung function is poor. Am falling apart!

But it is all even more reason to eat healthily, exercise and lose this weight.

I go to Dublin tomorrow for 6 days and then onto UK - Chester with MIL and then Somerset. It will be hard to be on diet completely but I am intending to try my best to no chuck it out the window completely. Am taking my trainers so I can at least walk.

knottyhair · 13/04/2011 15:39

Shaxx, aah, that's lovely! And have a lovely holiday! Buda, hope you enjoy Dublin, and Chester, and Somerset! Well, we managed the walk down to the museum, I had one salmon sushi roll thing bought in Waitrose on the way down and ran around a bit with DS and his mates whilst there. Then DS and I set off for the walk home and he wanted to race me over the bridge near to the museum, and he managed to trip and fall flat on his face love him, and really badly skinned his knee and ripped his jeans. It really hurt him and I couldn't make him walk 30 mins uphill like that (he was doing the thing where they won't bend their knee and insist on limping Grin). The only way we could get home was to get the river boat into town and then catch a bus, which we did. Have worked out my calories though and I think I'm still OK. Back to Jillian in the morning!

knottyhair · 14/04/2011 11:20

Morning! Very quiet on here, lots of holidays and house moves I guess! Fitted in a quick Shred this morning as DS has a friend here for the morning and I didn't want to traumatise the poor boy. Soup for lunch and spiced veg pilaff for tea. The "Lighter Lamb burgers" we had last night were bloody lovely BTW - BBC GF website recipe for a change! Hope everyone's having a good one xx

fedupofnamechanging · 14/04/2011 12:34

Hi everyone,

Will try the lighter lamb burgers this weekend knottyhair. They sound nice and a bit different to my usual cooking. We've had rather a lot of quorn chilli and chicken soup, so I fancy a change.

Have had a good couple of days food wise. Have awful cold , so not particularly hungry, which helps. Not done very much exercise though, so must improve. Well done on doing your shred this morning.

Hope everyone is having a good day

fedupofnamechanging · 14/04/2011 12:35

Posted too soon. Hope your DS is okay knotty

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 14/04/2011 12:51

Hi all, Knotty hope your DS is feeling better too.

Those lamb burgers may well make it onto my meal plan this week, im off to google.

Made a lovely chicken pasta again yesterday but it had roasted peppers and red onion in with rosemary roast chicken and was lovely, i had mine minus the pasta but with cous cous on the side as it had less ww points than the pasta.

Trying to think of new meal ideas to breakfrom the norm.

Will shred tonight as never done it last night, enjoy your day people.

knottyhair · 14/04/2011 13:08

Aah, thanks everyone. His leg's a lot better today but he had a filling on Tuesday and it's still hurting him on and off so he's not quite himself. Karma, hope your cold gets better soon. Thinbride, your chicken pasta sounds lovely, and hope you "enjoy" your Shredding Smile!

thedogwalker · 15/04/2011 07:06

Hi all

I've been hiding this week. What with packing and I had a huge row with DH on Sunday which put me in a mother of all moods all week Grin. Having been on maternity leave for 8 months, he told me that I've done nothing for 8 months apart from sit about drinking coffee with my friends Angry. So I did no housework on Sunday or Monday or Tuesday, not a thing, he soon noticed that maybe I do do things around the house, like keep it bloody spotless. By Wednesday he was fed up of making his own lunches and then having to come home and make his own dinner, so he relented.

Anyway, on Monday I ate 5 Hmm of my home baked chocolate muffins with chocolate butter icing, [ouch]. So no surprise I am a sts this week.

Hope everyone has had a better week than me. Buda great advice (as always) from Dinky. Thinbride and Knotty keep up the good work on the exercise front, you are doing it for all of us and wow Shaxx what a lovley comment by that man, bet you were glowing, good for you and hope you have a great holiday.

ta ta for now.

OP posts:
thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/04/2011 07:54

Morning all, TDW after 5 muffins well done on sts! I on the other hand despite lots of exercise gained 0.5lb by nibbling lots of little extra things i shouldnt have and thinking it would all be ok.... lesson learnt!

Will strive to do better this week and will be running tonight after dp comes in from work.

Hope everyone has a better weigh in than me.

fedupofnamechanging · 15/04/2011 09:02

Good morning everyone,

Weighed myself this morning and am 11st 2lbs, which is a loss, so I am happy. I think it has helped that I have a horrible cold. Being unable to taste anything does remove the temptation to eat chocolate. TDW, I am thinking about your chocolate muffins now. Somehow 2 Linda McCartney sausages do not have the same appeal!

Am going food shopping and bill paying today. My life is sooo glamourous Smile. Will do as you all have suggested and plan a bit better, rather that just eat whatever I fancy at the time.

Hope you all have a good weekend

knottyhair · 15/04/2011 09:20

Morning. Karma, well done on your loss! Hope your cold is getting better. TDW, sorry you've had such a shit week, but sounds like your "strike" got your point across Grin! Thinbride, have a good run tonight. I've lost 1.5lbs again this week, so quite pleased given that I had a kids party and a takeaway. Just done 6W6P Level 1, and have got sushi for lunch (picnic) and Pad Thai for tea! Have a good day xxx

msbuggywinkle · 15/04/2011 11:13

Hello! Can I join in?

I'm 13 stone 9 at the moment, having lost a stone and a half, but I have stalled and need a kick up the bum.

The plan is this, don't eat in the morning until I'm hungry (I'm an emotional overeater so am limiting the time I can eat in) and don't eat after dinner. Make lunch and dinner sensible portions of healthy food and snack on something healthy if I'm hungry.

I'm starting a couch to 5k this evening, I used to be a cross-country runner fgs!

fedupofnamechanging · 15/04/2011 11:17

Well done on your loss knottyhair. Am feeling a bit better today thank-you.

Welcome msbuggywinkle. Hope your run goes well

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/04/2011 16:07

Well done Knotty! and welcome msbuggywinkle, good luck on your run im off out on mine soon.

I got complimented on my weight loss today by a mum at school and im really chuffed (as i dont feel like any different but clearly i do as she said she noticed the other day) its spurring me on!

I have not eaten that well so far today i have had 2 satsumas, 2 cream crackers and 3 coffee's. Then i had a yogurt for lunch and 3 whole grain biscuit things. Just scoffing some grapes as we speak and planning left over spag bol from yesterday for dinner. Think i will be under points so i can dig a treat out the freezer for later when the kids are in bed!

knottyhair · 16/04/2011 07:42

Morning. Hi, msbuggywinkle! Great loss so far, and hope your run went OK. Karma, glad you're feeling better. Thinbride, too right you should be chuffed, what a lovely feeling Smile. Walking into town this morning with DS so he can spend some of his saved up money - he's been a bit miserable with toothache following his filling - took him back to dentist yesterday and they've given him some antibiotics to see if it's bacteria in the root canal that's the problem. He hasn't been having anything sweet or cold as that seems to make it worse, so he managed an easter egg hunt & picnic yesterday without having any chocolate or ice-cream, with his friends all munching away, and he hasn't complained once, what a sweetheart. So I'll have lunch out with him (will try to make a good choice!), and have got prawns, tomato sauce & a bit of feta with some couscous & spinach for tea. Have a good weekend everyone xx

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 16/04/2011 08:16

Sounds like a good day planned there knotty! Did not go for my run as sil pulled out last min but hope to go tonight.

Plan to cut the grass today as been putting it off all week! And plant some flowers in the garden.

Im making lamb kofta kebabs with salad, wraps and hm garlic mayo (reduced calorie) from the bbc good food website, cant wait.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

knottyhair · 16/04/2011 09:16

Thinbride, you had me at lamb kofta, but then garlic mayo.... phwooooar! Grin

msbuggywinkle · 16/04/2011 09:37

I'm feeling very virtuous about the run, surprised myself too as I expected to be a mess and it was fine.

Thinbride kofta sounds great! Enjoy your gardening, I need to buy pea sticks and compost today as my garden has gone crazy this week.

My meal plan for the day today is burgers with pickles and salad for lunch.

Then (small portion!) of pasta florentine with giant salad for dinner.

Off to do the food shop now, am buying lots of fruit to stop me eating all of the DDs inevitable chocolate!
