Well here we go, New Year and NEW US. Wishing everyone good luck and sending lots of happy vibes so that we can all reach our goals Smile

Oh dear Shaxx. Have you tried Dinky's tip of drinking water? Can you squeeze in some exercise to counteract the naughtiness?

Failing that at least tomorrow is the last day of the course, stuff your face and enjoy it Grin That's what I'd do but my lack of self control is legendary Blush

justaminute · 29/03/2011 22:09

Karma - it's all about moderation. Don't deny yourself entirely as that is likely to end in a binge. Eat chocolate but eat less of it. sadly that's easier said than done. Once I start I just can't stop.

Try to keep yourself busy or do something different in the evenings to keep your mind off the cravings and to break the habit. I've been trying to go out for a run or do an exercise DVD then I don't want to blow my goodness by eating chocolate, cake etc.

fedupofnamechanging · 29/03/2011 22:33

Have just rearranged the furniture in the living room, so I don't raid the cupboards. If nothing else, i will have a tidy house Grin

knottyhair · 30/03/2011 10:06

Shaxx, I feel for you, I remember those training day buffets fondly well. If I were you I wouldn't worry about it too much, but at the same time, try not to think "sod it" and go all bingetastic. Have a few sandwiches, a biscuit, and enjoy it! Karma, agree with JAM, if you don't let yourself have any of something you love, you're in real danger of bingeing. I know it sounds sad but if you weigh out some chocolate and see what you get for 100-150 calories or something, and nibble on it for an hour eat it slowly. Works for me with cheese Grin! Got the rest of the chicken soup for lunch, and pizza and salad for tea - have been lazy and bought bases but at least I can put my own bits on mine and not have too much mozzarella! Have a good one!

justaminute · 30/03/2011 11:11

Knotty ? you are as regular as clock work with your posts Smile I look forward to your 10 o?clock updates. It gives me a little boost to know that you have done your exercise so I must be good also. Your advice to Shaxx is much more sensible than my sod it attitude.

Not doing too bad this week. I was only half in the zone on Monday but I?m crawling back in and have exercised. Monday - netball, Tuesday - 28 minute run and netball again tonight. The run last night was tough I felt every incline, even dropped curbs were hard work.

knottyhair · 30/03/2011 11:16

JAM, I'm such a sad creature of habit! It just happens to be the time I finish my workout usually, so I tend to post then at it helps keep me on the straight and narrow IYKWIM. And wow, anyone who runs get my admiration. Have never been able to get into it and my knees and back don't like it. I'm such a fairweather exerciser, think that's why I like doing the DVDs in my living room! I do like a long walk though - can't wait to get out and about a bit more. We got DS doing 8 mile walks last summer and autumn, poor little sod Grin.

justaminute · 30/03/2011 11:37

Well done Knotty?s ds. We?ve got a nice 3 mile circular route near us. Last Summer ds (4) needed piggy backing halfway round but dd (6) enjoyed it. I?m hoping he has toughened up over the winter so we can do it again. We make up worksheets for them to do on the way round ? they have to tick off when they see a stile, a sheep, find a fir cone etc. Give my dd a clip board and she is a happy girl.

knottyhair · 30/03/2011 15:10

Oh yes, DS loves a clipboard also! He's got into the I-Spy books, which I used to love as well. On a different note, I've just ordered Jillian's "No More Trouble Zones" - think I may be addicted to Jillian Grin.

Shaxx · 30/03/2011 18:09

I've escaped! Grin
Thanks for all the tips.
I really enjoyed the course and I just enjoyed the food today too. I didn't binge (I can't infront of work colleagues. too shameful).I drank loads of water. I won a little prize too and got a mug full of sweets but the boys will get that.

Karma the cravings definitely reduce but you need to be strong. I used to eat loads in the evening in front of the tv. Crisps, chocolate, cake whatever. I just went cold turkey and decided to have nothing after dinner.
It was hard at first but now I really don't see the point of stuffing my face late. In fact, I can't bear to eat anything late anymore. I hate to eat dinner after 7 and the thought of nibbling on something late doesn't even cross my mind.
Its all about changing habits.

Another Jillian dvd, Knotty? You are definitely addicted Grin As far as addictions go, its probably a good one.

I need a trip to the supermarket to organise my food. I don't have much in.
I have to plan my day....

Shaxx · 30/03/2011 18:11

JAM Wow! Good going on the run! And netball too. Do you play in a league?

knottyhair · 30/03/2011 18:26

My name is Knotty and I am a Jillianaholic It all started when she told me I was strong and this was EASY for me. Then I started losing weight and inches, and then Jillian said even if I was praying for death I shouldn't quit on her! Now I have.... oh I can't bear to say it. OK, here we go... I have FOUR OF HER DVDs. Oh jesus that feels better.

Shaxx · 30/03/2011 18:50

Lol That Jillian is brilliant but she wants me to feel like I'm going to die! She's a scary woman.

justaminute · 30/03/2011 22:10

Shaxx - I play in two different leagues for two different teams. Some of the teams we play are far too keen and eager and have training sessions and (shock, horror) tactics. Thankfully the teams I play for treat it as more of a social and a chance to escape the dcs. It's always nice when we win though, especially against the uber competitive teams. We won tonight. Smile

Knotty - dare I ask, can you pick a favourite Jillian DVD?

knottyhair · 31/03/2011 10:14

Good morning! Ooh it's grey & miserable here. Bet I've caught you unawares, JAM, posting a whole 40 mins early Grin! Going to have a day off the exercise today, give my body a break! Had poached egg on toast for breakfast, soup for lunch (don't know which one, will be lazy and see what Waitrose has to offer!), and soy steamed chicken with rice for tea. As for a favourite Jillian DVD, now there's a question! I'd say the Shred is still fab, 6W6P is steadily becoming a favourite. Banish Fat Boost Metabolism is tougher mentally for me as it's very cardio heavy which isn't my favourite thing, although I still like the DVD. I think the new one will be good, as it's more weights & strength type stuff. Not a succinct answer I know! Have a good day everyone!

knottyhair · 31/03/2011 10:15

I did post earlier but the site was down for maintenance - I can tell the time, honest!

justaminute · 31/03/2011 11:06

I had a word with HQ to stop you catching me unawares Wink

dinkystinky · 31/03/2011 11:20

Knotty - rest days are important. I make sure I always have at least 2 rest days a week as do so much sport. With all the exercise you're doing make sure you do a really good stretch (spend at least 5 minutes on it) after each session - use your davina stretch bits rather than jillian as i find (on the shred at least) that jillian is rubbish on stretches.

thedogwalker · 31/03/2011 19:12

Hi all

sorry not posted for a while, just been so busy organising my move back to the UK, which is only 3 weeks away, Plus the housing department couldn't find me a house and it was stressing me out. Sleepless nights etc, but thankfully have now found a lovely house in Fovant, a village near Salisbury, all very nice. Anyway, due to stress I've not done any exercise but I haven't turned to food either, which is what I would normally do, so I'm happy that I seem to have curbed my reliance on food for comfort, well on this occasion anyway.

LOL Knotty on the Jilianaholic, most I've laughed all week, so thank you Grin.

Thinbride, any news on the wedding ring???

well take care all and see you tomorrow for weigh in.

OP posts:
thinbridewaitingtogetout · 31/03/2011 19:42

TDW glad the move to the uk is going well and good on you for resisting the food=comfort! im still battling that one im afraid.

Need been good apart from pigging out today, feel really gross. Im also feeling rather inadiquet next to you lot as you seem to be doing so wellwith the dieting and especially the exercise. I just find it so hard to motivate myself (you would not think i was getting married in a few months!)

Any hoo went ring shopping and saw a lovely plain 18ct plain flat band as its the best design to fit with my engagement ring as its a cluster and not all rings fit with it but they had no price available as the owner of the shop was out so need to go back.

Im also going dress shopping with intent to purchase tomorrow with my mum so im hoping that will spur me to being better with the diet and execise, also my neck is better but no trainers yet, although will see if i can get some tomorrow.

Good luck everyone for the weigh in.

justaminute · 31/03/2011 20:37

Aww thinbride don't get down. I'll admit I've got the exercise bug but sadly food is still a battle. Happy shopping tomorrow... we want pictures! Grin

thedogwalker · 01/04/2011 07:51

Oh yes thinbride, pictures please. I've not got the fintess bug at the moment either, so don't beat yourself up about it, organising a wedding takes up a lot of time. Just remember small steps, small goals, easier to achieve, which will then boost your confidence. If it has to be just a daily goal, or even an hourly goal, then do that, whatever works for you. Once you get on a roll, you'll feel much better Smile

I'm a sts this week, but I'm happy with that as I didn't expect a loss with the stress etc I've been having. I'm thinking of the bigger picture and the amount I've lost so far and so I'm well chuffed.

Where I live at the moment, there are just 18 Brit houses amongst all the German families. We are a very close knit community. Well the girls have organised a night out tomorrow night to say goodbye to me [sob], and it's my fave, mexican, yum yum, so I know I won't be too good tomorrow night, but hey once in a while doesn't hurt, [already coming up with excuses for what I might eat]

Knotty have you been to Ulm yet? I live in Guterlsoh, which is a good 8 hour drive north of Ulm.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, take care

OP posts:
justaminute · 01/04/2011 09:06

Well done TDW - enjoy tomorrow night, you are definitely allowed to let your hair down Smile

I've sts too. I'm not happy. I've done 3 runs & 2 games of netball since last week. I guess I've been playing catch up since last weekend's food fest.

Must try harder for next week.

dinkystinky · 01/04/2011 09:33

Well done on the house TDW - hope the move goes smoothly and have a brilliant time out tomorrow night!

I've only lost 1lb - so 2lbs of biffing weight to still lose. Harrumph. Have a fun stressful couple of weeks coming up - moving too (like TDW) but back into our house which will be most completed - hurrah! So need to pack up flat, sell loads of stuff we dont need, move into house, pack for holiday, go on holiday, come back the day before DS1's birthday so sort out birthday presents and cake for when we get back and get all our stuff out of storage. Head is spinning working out the logistics for everything... Oh and hold down a full time job...

thedogwalker · 01/04/2011 09:55

A loss is still a loss Dinky Smile and with all the running around you need to do in the next few weeks, you'll shed pounds without even trying.

OP posts:
knottyhair · 01/04/2011 10:25

Morning - ooh I'm late - newly divorced friend phoned as I was about to post! Dinky, you're right about Jillian's stretching on the Shred; I just hold them for longer and don't seem to get any aches. Well done on the loss and hope your house move goes OK, jesus I'm not surprised your head is spinning! TDW, well done on STS and your loss so far! Enjoy your mexican, I bet it'll be emotional for you. We're not off to Ulm until August, a few days there on the way to the Tyrol to MIL's. Thinbride - oh yes, pictures required! Hope you get your trainers today. JAM - STS is still good, but I know how gutting it feels when you've put a lot of work in. I've lost this week but only 0.75lb, so I feel a bit "oh" as well. Still, it's moving in the right direction, another 1lb off and I've lost a stone since mid Jan so fingers crossed for next week. Did 6W6P again this morning - I do like that one! Tomato soup for lunch and spaghetti with peppers and a little bit of chorizo tonight. Have a good one everyone!
