JAM, someone on the Shredhead thread has done all 3 levels back to back, now THAT'S hardcore!

thedogwalker · 16/03/2011 12:33

Had a wonderful full body massage this morning as my treat for getting to 10 stone. Me thinks I may have to do it more often.

Knotty, you are defo hardcore, you are our exercise poster girl. My DS is teething at the moment and so keeping me awake at night, (he normally sleeps, 8pm til 8am), so been a shock waking up a few times each night and with that I haven't the energy or inclination to do any exercise. Sorry excuse I know, but hey I'm knackered.

JAM, I also know what you mean about licking the bowl out, luckily my DH taste tests the cup cakes and does the honours with the bowl for me, preventing me from doing it. Terrible job for him Grin.

You all go on about this lentil and chickpea soup, but it really doesn't sound appetising to me, maybe I'm missing out. When I move back to the UK I may look up the ingredients and try it out as you all rave so much about it. I know it sounds terriblt healthy which is why I know I should have a go.

well I hope everyone is having a good week. Anyone know where Buda or thinbride are??? Buda has been off the radar for weeks, hope she is ok.

Take care all xx

Mmmm the soup is delicious.
TDW you probably have to be a fan of chickpeas/lentils/pulses to really enjoy it, I guess. I love that kind of food.

knottyhair · 16/03/2011 13:21

And it's nice with a bit of harissa stirred in at the end (if you've got a bit of a chilli addiction like me Grin). TDW, your massage sounds lovely. What a good idea. Think I'll set myself a target and then book a treatment of some kind as a reward.

thedogwalker · 16/03/2011 15:19

Justamin are you ok?

HEllo all - deal from hell finally signed (hurrah) so normal service is now being resumed in the dinky household. Managed to make a bodypump class today (first exercise in over a week) and know am going to ache tomorrow. Oh well.

TDW - re returning to work, it will be fine as I suspect it'll be the move that you and your little one will find most unsettling. We found our lovely nanny via gumtree - she was an ex aupair then live in nanny for various families before us. And she's been with us 4 years and we think she's brilliant! Just be really specific on your requirements and take the time to sort the wheat from the chaff and it'll be fine.

dinkystinky · 16/03/2011 16:18

ps v envious of that massage!

thedogwalker · 16/03/2011 19:01

Welcome back Dinky, glad the deal is finally sorted and you can return to the living Grin

justaminute · 16/03/2011 23:07

Thanks for the concern TDW I've now recovered from the thought of a mumsnetter doing 3 back to back shreds. I once did 2 (admittedly was more like one and a half) but THREE that is just madness.

Dinky - good to see you back and straight into the zone - you are soooo good! Hope the aches are bearable.

I left pizza night fairly unscathed. Amazingly I'm still within calorie allowance and I did my couch to 5k session - two lots of 10 minutes. The next run is meant to be a continuous 25 minutes....eeek. I fear I may faint again!

knottyhair · 17/03/2011 10:04

Morning all. Dinky, nice to see you back and glad your work has calmed down a bit! JAM, well done on staying within your allowance, including pizza (yum). And two lots of 10 mins running still sounds like more than I could manage.
Just done Davina Top Fit as my legs are still a bit achy. Found most of it a bit easy (apart from tricep dips - HATE THEM!) I "Jillianed" up some of the moves and kept the weights for the cardio intervals. Nice to do something different though. Had a wholemeal hot cross bun for breakfast, beans or poached egg on toast for lunch and either 5 spice chicken or tamarind chicken for dinner - haven't decided yet. Have a good day!

thedogwalker · 17/03/2011 20:14

Hello all, had a bugger of a day, my DH's grandad, who we rushed back to the UK for ealier this month, died last night. My DH was already in the UK working, so managed to get back home, but he is in bits, he was really close to his grandad. Now I'm trying to oragansie the house move, and a quick trip back to the UK for the funeral etc.

Managed to be good all week, but normally when I'm good, I don't lose the weight, but after having a great loss last week, I will be happy with a sts this week, to allow my body to balance itself out. But I can't wait to lose another pound, as I haven't been in the 9 st for many years, so I just want to see if I can actualy do it.

Well I hope everyone has had a good day and stayed in the zone. Good luck for weigh in tomorrow. ta ta for now xx

OP posts:
knottyhair · 17/03/2011 21:45

TDW, so sorry to hear about your DH's grandad. You've got such a lot on your plate at the moment - be kind to yourself x

thedogwalker · 18/03/2011 07:43

Thanks for your kind words knotty. I really feel for DH, he's trying to be the typical hard bloke infront of his Dad, but I know he's really upset, I can hear it in his voice, so I am trying to get there early next week. To support him.

Well I am a happy bunny with weight loss this week. I've lost a pound, so finally I'm 9 st 13 lbs. Never ever thought I'd ever say 9 st again. Just 6 more pounds to lose and I will be at what I consider to be an ideal weight for my size. All before I get pregnant again and pile it all back on wink]

Hope everyone is well. Good luck for weigh in xx

justaminute · 18/03/2011 09:18

TDW ? I echo Knotty?s sentiments & congratulations on hitting the 9 stone mark.

I?m sulking. I?ve sts again. I?ve been within my calorie allowance for 5 days, 3 runs, one Davina and a game of netball since last weigh in. What?s a girl supposed to do?! No loss means no cake making treat

Shaxx · 18/03/2011 09:37

Dinky glad to see it's all done and dusted and you can get back to some kind of normality.

TDW sorry to hear about your dh's grandad. It must be more difficult for him as you two are apart. Well done for getting into the 9's! Am envious but you obviously worked hard for it.

JAM well done for sts. I don't know if it makes much of a difference to you but I find that if I count in quite a few treats into my cal allowance, I don't lose any weight. To lose weight, I need to keep treats to about 100 cals and reduce my carbs generally.
ANyway, your weight loss may show itself next week so don't give up!

I have lost 1.5lbs this week. I'm happy with that as I had a sneaky mid week weigh in and hadn't lost anything!

I've no idea what to do for dinner today. I need inspiration. Where's knotty? Smile

knottyhair · 18/03/2011 09:59

Morning everyone. TDW, great loss, and below 10 stone, that's fantastic - can't wait to get to that point! I also know what you mean about your DH and grief - DP's aunt died just before Xmas, and after he got the phone call, he insisted he was fine and wanted to carry on watching TV. About half an hour later, he just started crying Sad. I hope you get to be with him soon. JAM, good on you for STS, but I know how you feel. Good advice from Shaxx though. Shaxx, great loss as well! When I need inspiration I either look at the Healthy recipes collection on the BBC Good Food site or the little BBC Good Food books I've got - either 101 Low Fat Feasts or 101 Healthy Eats. Saying that, we've got hot dogs tonight with salad Blush. DP is out and I told DS he could choose tea to have watching Comic Relief. Just got to count them in my allowance! I've lost 2.5lbs this week, so feeling quite Smile.

Shaxx · 18/03/2011 10:09

2.5lbs is fantastic. Well done Knotty.
I just used your idea and asked ds2 what he wants for dinner and he said 'chicken and chips!' so I'm going to do some sticky chicken wings and potato wedges (salad for me).
Thanks! Grin

knottyhair · 18/03/2011 10:42

Sticky chicken wings sounds lovely Shaxx. DP is half Austrian, half Italian, so whenever DS is at granny's in Austria, she gives him frankfurters (or herty gertas as he's always called them Grin). I don't buy them as a rule, god knows what's in them Hmm, but once in a while is OK I guess, and I did say he could choose! I've worked out I can have a couple with 1 small roll and salad. Rather have a chicken wing though Envy.

justaminute · 18/03/2011 11:54

Thanks Shaxx, you may have a point, I have used some of my allowance for pizza and chocolate this week. I've been reading a few other threads which were indicating that exercise can be counter productive to weight loss, the theory of ?eat less, move more? may not hold true. Oh, it is all so complicated!

Knotty ? I quite fancy a herty gerta Smile now, with lashings of ketchup and fried onions, mmmm. I?ve not had one for years.

thedogwalker · 18/03/2011 12:20

JAM, I sts for 2 weeks and then I lost 4 lbs the following week, so don't give up. I honestly do believe that the body needs to balance itself every now and again, so just give it time and don't lose the faith, you will have a good weight loss next week.

Well done Knotty and Shaxx, great losses, and those sticky wings sound great. What's the recipe???

OP posts:
Shaxx · 18/03/2011 12:40

TDW here's the recipe for chicken wings I'm using today
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1133653/sweet-and-sticky-wings-with-classic-slaw

knottyhair · 18/03/2011 12:50

I've done these Shaxx, they're lovely.

Shaxx · 18/03/2011 12:57

They look really good and easy to do. I love minimal effort but tasty cooking Smile

carlywurly · 18/03/2011 13:31

Hi all, I'm a latecomer but please may I join you? I'm halfway through my mission to get rid of 25lbs -gone from 12st 1 to 11st 2 and aiming for 10st 5 by summer hols. I'm getting to the stage where I need some support to carry on - am at that point where you know you've worked hard but still feel frustratingly lardy!

I tried low carb initially and hated it, so am doing a low GI plan now and just trying to eat healthy, nutritious foods and do running or Shred for exercise every weekday. It's slow but steady progress -about 1-2 lbs loss per week.
