Well here we go, New Year and NEW US. Wishing everyone good luck and sending lots of happy vibes so that we can all reach our goals Smile

Well done TDW - must be that running Wink So pleased for you.

Justaminute - sadly its a rough with smooth thing. However as a corporate lawyer you kind of get used to it (but doesnt stop you bitching about it/feeling sorry for yourself). My parents are both doctors and were junior doctors back in the dark days when they used to work 72 hour shifts with no break so I get no sympathy at all from them for the crazy hours I occasionally ahve to work which equally drives me crazy. Think mums were sent here to wind us up whatever happens - and now we get to do the same to our kids Grin

justaminute · 11/03/2011 09:16

Sadly no weight lost whilst I slept, but no gain either Smile I have sts.

I'll do my best to stick with foodfocus (just logged my brekkie) especially if I get to see result like TDW - fantastic stuff! Well done. Do you still have your wedding dress? Perhaps you could put it on and do a twirl!

I have a little voice in my head telling me to eat malteasers today. Thankfully I'm at work so I can't indulge. I'm praying the craving will have gone before I leave as I need to pop to the shops which could be dangerous.

Dinky - i do fear that I am turning into my mother - eeek.

Shaxx · 11/03/2011 09:36

TDW That must be so hard. How long will you be in th UK for? Good luck with the move.
Well done on the weight loss! Woohoo!

Dinky That sounds so tough. Especially with the lack of sleep.Hope it all gets done and dusted asap!

JAM well done sts. Stick with the foodfocus. It really does help. Resist the maltesers. Have a big glass of water and fruit instead Smile
I usually just guess with meals out. I try to make good choices and work around it by reducing cals before and after.

Well I didn't weigh myself last week as I couldn't face it but I weighed on Mon morning and I've lost 2lbs since then. Hooray. I'm now back at the weight before I had my blip.

knottyhair · 11/03/2011 10:11

Morning! Just started back on Shred Level 3. Gordon Bennett.

TDW, that's an amazing loss. Brilliant Smile!
Dinky, sorry your job is so mad at the moment. Hope it all calms down soon.
JAM, well done on STS.
Shaxx, great 2lb loss as well!

Have managed to put on 0.5lb this week but I guess I only started exercising yesterday and although I stuck to my allowance, I rather stupidly hadn't altered my calorie goal to reflect my new weight (I'd lost 10.75lbs). I remembered and did it yesterday so that might explain it. Oh well onwards & upwards! Lentil & chickpea soup for lunch (again! but I do like it Smile) and roast chicken & salad for dinner later.

Shaxx · 11/03/2011 10:35

Knotty how does your loss affect your calorie goal. Are you on less cals now? Great loss btw!
Mmmm to your soup. Do you have a recipe please?

knottyhair · 11/03/2011 10:59

Shaxx, yes, a bit less calories now, was on 1487 when I started 7 weeks ago and was 11 stone 4. Now 10 stone 7 and have an net allowance of 1422. So it's not enough to explain the half a pound gain! But I guess it's only half a pound, I've got to get it in perspective. Soup recipe is www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/333614/red-lentil-chickpea-and-chilli-soup - it's lovely!

justaminute · 11/03/2011 12:45

I love that soup too. Must make a batch up for lunches next week.

I came to work armed with healthy snacks today. I've had a carrot, 2 cherry tomatoes, 2 clementines & 2 pints of water. I need to brave the big bad world in 20 minutes - fingers crossed the malteasers don't pounce.

knottyhair · 11/03/2011 13:01

It is a really nice soup, and filling. I don't bother blending it as I prefer it a bit more textured. I don't add the yoghurt either, although I do add more chilli! Good luck ignoring the pull of the Maltesers JAM, you can do it!

Shaxx · 11/03/2011 19:39

I had a bit of a session with a tube of pringles. They're like a drug.I found out that 15 pringles are 150 cals so I forced myself to stop at 15. Its darned hard!
Hope you all had a good day.

knottyhair · 12/03/2011 14:22

Shaxx, well done for stopping at 15 - that's willpower! Hope everyone's having a good day. Carried on with Level 3 of Shred this morning. Jesus it's hard but I like it, to misquote Dick Emery. Went to town with DS afterwards and in the cafe decided to have a tea instead of my usual skinny latte. Had a little chocolate biscuit instead Blush, but I've counted it in (66 calories and counting!). Ham and salad wrap for lunch and we've got gammon steak, mash & veg for tea. Have a good one everyone!

Shaxx · 12/03/2011 16:58

Well I must confess that although I was good with the pringles, I had a choc session late whilst watching True Blood. Oops.
I did do my tae bo dvd yesterday evening and was about 200 over my cals yesterday.

Today has been quite good.

I went for a run this morning for the first time since about Oct last year. It was a struggle but I'm glad I've started back. More walking than running though!
I then spent the afternoon walking around a country park with the kids on their bikes.

Food today
weetabix,yoghurt, banana
salad sandwich, 2 pieces from an aero bar
chicken curry, rice
snacks ryvita minis, fruit

knottyhair · 12/03/2011 17:18

Ooooh, True Blood....

Shaxx · 12/03/2011 18:13

Are you a fan Knotty? I am so hooked.
I only started watching it as I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. I'm so glad I did!

knottyhair · 12/03/2011 18:30

Oh yes. Love it!

justaminute · 12/03/2011 20:20

I survived the lure of the maltesers - sadly the same cannot be said of the chocolate buttons Blush. I'm trying to log everything on foodfocus - worringly I was over on Thurs & Fri but I'm under for today (so far!) It is shocking to see how the calories add up - it's definitely where I've been going wrong.

Shax - well done for the run. I ran for a whole 20 minutes today. It was a killer, at times I felt I would have been quicker to walk but I'm so pleased and amazed that I did it.

Family do number 1 survived today, another to endure do tomorrow.

Just googled True Blood - think i'm pleased we don't have Sky, I don't think it's for me.

knottyhair · 13/03/2011 09:26

JAM, blimey, 20 mins running?? That's brilliant Smile. You're right, logging all your calories is quite eye-opening, I clearly had no idea what I was eating before, although I thought I did Blush.
Was going to do Davina this morning for a change but ended up chatting to DP for too long and now we've got to go out. Think I'll be OK today as all my meals are really low calorie today - had poached egg on toast for breakfast, more lentil & chickpea soup for lunch, and spiced fish fingers & rice for dinner - got no idea what they're like, it's a new recipe - sounds "interesting"! Have a good day everyone x

justaminute · 13/03/2011 20:06

Knotty - did you stick with your food plan? It sounds very virtuous, your halo must be gleaming! How were the "interesting" fish fingers?

I've just been on the good food website looking for ideas and clicked on the cupcake collection link. I think I've consumed calories just looking at them! I might make the family a batch as a treat next weekend if I lose weight this week. That might be a counter productive target Hmm

I survived family do number 2 today. I positioned myself well away from the buffet table so despite 2 glasses of wine I am under the calorie target for today. I've found a few anomolies on food focus, at least I hope they are anomolies. For example a pret a manger skinny latte is 691 calories and 40g of fat according to FF. Surely that is wrong?!

knottyhair · 13/03/2011 22:06

JAM, yes I did and the fish fingers were lovely! Sort of a polenta crust and I made a little soy/lime dipping sauce and did rice with sugar snaps in. DP & DS cleared their plates as well, and I had enough calories for a low-fat yoghurt and a few chocolate raisins - I know how to live! Well done on avoiding the buffet table, and I'm pretty sure a skinny latte is not anything like that much!

thedogwalker · 14/03/2011 14:04

Hi all

Had a naughty weekend, after such a goof loss, but DH working away again and so indulged in bread, cream cheese and a huge steak, but it was all gorgeous. Back on the straight and narrow now that DH left yesterday.

Justamin, I go to a coffee monrning every friday and I have a cake every friday. I just work it into my calories for that day and if I am hosting I normally bake lots of cupcakes etc, so having one should not do you any harm as long as you don't eat the lot Wink and you work it into your allowance.

well I've been busy trying to sort my move. I should be back in the UK by the middle of April. Still not got an address, waiting for the housing department of my employment to sort that out, but they weren't happy about the short notice. Also trying to organise an au pair, as I go back to work and need child care for my LO. So not looking forward to going back to work. Anyone got any tips on how to make it easier on him and me???

Well I ope everyone is having a good week. Dinky I hope your work load is getting better and you can spend some quality time out of the office. Thinbride, any news on a dress, want to see it, when you get it Grin.

Take care all x

knottyhair · 14/03/2011 16:58

TDW, glad you enjoyed your weekend! Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate with the move. Sorry I can't offer any advice re going back to work - I haven't been back since having DS but I'm sure someone will be along who has experience of it.

Did Davina Cardio Buff this morning and my legs are killing me! Didn't find it that hard but it must have had an effect, as they're really achy! Made a ham salad wrap for lunch, and we've got pasta with chorizo, tomatoes & squash for dinner. Hope everyone's having a good day x

justaminute · 15/03/2011 09:56

TDW - stopping at one is my problem. There is also licking of the bowl to factor in Wink. Good luck with going back to work. I went back to work (mornings only) when dd was 8 months old ? she settled into a nursery absolutely fine, it was harder for me to leave her. DS was 11 months when I returned to work ? I think separation anxiety had set in with him. He did not like being left, nursery staff had to peel him off me. I found that tough but staff assured me he was fine within 10 minutes. Now when I collect him he quite often shrugs his shoulders and sulks because he doesn?t want to come home. Charming! Once you have found your au pair have a few practice runs of leaving him for short periods of time. Also make sure you have everything ready the night before - your clothes laid out, his clothes laid out, changing bag, food etc. Time seems to fly by in the morning.

Knotty - I ache today too. Last night I played netball and went for a run. Intending to do Davina later if I can move.

knottyhair · 15/03/2011 10:24

Morning! JAM, netball AND a run, that's pretty impressive! I've just done Jillian Michael's Banish Fat Boost Metabolism. Jesus. 40 mins (not including warm-up & cool down) - I had to stop part way through as I got too hot I think! Went outside for a few mins and then carried on. Enjoyed it though in a weird sado masochistic way. Meals today are lentil & chickpea soup for lunch (can you tell I like it Grin), and a healthy version of spaghetti bolognese for dinner. Have a good day everyone!

Shaxx · 16/03/2011 09:23

Hi everyone.
TDW Its hard to go to work and leave your little one but you'll just have to be strong and get on with it. Just try to be as organised as possible so you can spend maximum time with ds. Supermarket shop online and batch cook. I agree with getting stuff ready the night before. Mornings are hectic!

JAM and Knotty good going on all that exercise! That Jillians dvd sounds scary. I don't think I could keep going for 40mins! I do think I need to up the exercise. I think I need to get back to the gym.

I had a bit of a pmt blip on Sunday.
I don't seem to have lost any weight over the past week even though I've been under my cals every day (except Sunday). I think its because I've been including crisps and stuff as my allowance. I really need to limit a treat to just 100cals a day and make sure I'm getting 'good' cals.

I'm going to make that lentil and chickpea soup today and have it for lunch. Dinner will be a chicken and veg something or other.

knottyhair · 16/03/2011 09:59

Shaxx, hope you enjoy the soup! I'm sure you could do it for 40 mins, it's split into little sections which is psychologically easier (at least it is for me Smile) or you can choose to only do certain sections if you're short of time (or motivationGrin). Saying that, my legs are very achy today, so I went back to Level 1 of the Shred, although it's still tough on the legs. Meals today are an Innocent Veg Pot Mushroom Risotto for lunch (lazy I know, but it was reduced!), then making a low-fat prawn curry for dinner. Have a good one everyone!

justaminute · 16/03/2011 10:29

Knotty you are hardcore! 40 minutes of Jillian sounds like torture. I struggled through 30 minutes of Davina last night and that included the warm up & cool down.

I?m quietly pleased with myself for staying within my calorie allowance since Saturday. Today might be tough as I?m off to a friends for pizza & salad tonight, I?ll try to eat more salad than pizza. I?m also planning to do a run.

Shaxx - I've been having the lentil & chickpea soup for lunches this week too. We'll have to rename it the group soup Smile

There had better be a loss on Friday or I fear a sulky ?what?s the point? blow out may occur.
