Well here we go, New Year and NEW US. Wishing everyone good luck and sending lots of happy vibes so that we can all reach our goals Smile

Thanks Dinky! We going to the Science Museum and then he wants a Thai meal - good choice for a 7 year old but I'll need to avoid anything deep-fried, anything with coconut milk..... Deep joy.

dinkystinky · 25/02/2011 17:23

Knotty, its your boy's birthday - I think you can let go for one lunch only!

knottyhair · 25/02/2011 17:31

I'm so sad! Control-freakery personified Grin.

iluvcake · 26/02/2011 17:56

Weighed this morning and have stayed the same so feel happy with that as I have been so bad.

knotty, hope the birthday party went wellSmile.

justaminute and guitargirl-we need to heave ourselves back into the zone! Let's really try. I felt so happy with my weight loss before I went on holiday-it's so true-NOTHING tastes as good as SLIM feels.

On a different note-my calves have increased in size too! I was a bit annoyed at first but don't mind them now-they were a bit too slim and didn't match my thighs, IYKWIMGrin. Do lots of stretching-I think the pilates has helped elongate mine a bit.

knottyhair · 26/02/2011 19:45

Everyone's gone, house is relatively tidy again! Didn't have any lunch, and had 2 smoked salmon sandwiches, 1 chipolata and a glass of cava so not too bad. Have just ordered a Nepalese takeaway (chose tandoori prawns, boiled rice, and steamed chicken dumplings) - can't wait! Still feel rough but think I'll try Level 1 Shred (easy version) in the morning before the family come. iluvcake, well done on sts!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 27/02/2011 08:37

Morning all, im creping back in after spectacularly falling off the wagon, due to half term/ berevment biffage.

I cant even weigh myself as my scales are packed away in the kitchen chaos (getting kitchen done, and this is where weigh myself). Im aware its bad.

Today is a new day and im back on the wagon, and will even contemplate a brisk walk to blow away the cobwebs as its a lovely day here!

Well done to all those who managed to retain composure during the hol's.

knottyhair · 27/02/2011 10:24

Thinbride, glad you're back on the wagon. So sorry about your mum's partner x
No exercise for me again today, feel too crap, full of cold, cough and headache. Don't have much of an appetite, so hopefully that may cancel out the lack of activity! Have a good day everyone x

iluvcake · 28/02/2011 10:29

thinbride, hope you managed your walk! Don't be too hard on yourself-you've done so well but you've had a tough time. Just keep going and the weight will be coming off again!

knotty, I hope you're feeling a bit better for your DS's trip to London!

I have given myself a talking to and have been for a run this morning. Had a banana and a few almonds before I went and have just had porridge on return. I think I'm going to find it tough as I've had SO much sugar recently. I just need to try and get through the next few days and fingers X I'll be back on track.

knottyhair · 28/02/2011 18:19

iluvcake, sounds like you're doing really well today, good on you! Feel a bit better today, dosed myself up and did the Science Museum with DP & DS. Had a lovely day actually and polished off a fishfinger sandwich with mayo & chips for lunch Blush, but I've hardly eaten anything the last couple of days so just thought sod it. It was lush and we didn't end up going out for dinner in the end - DS too tired and wanted to come home to build his new Lego and have egg on toast! Hope everyone is OK x

justaminute · 01/03/2011 09:53

Glad to hear Knoty junior had a good day and you are feeling a bit better. fish finger sandwiches sound good - i'm virtually drooling at the thought.mmmm. But I MUST resist.

I had a good day yesterday. I've not dug out the diet book but I ate sensibly and a biscuit didn't pass my lips. You are all right that I need to unravel why I binge. I think I do it to cheer myself up which is counter productive because afterwards I feel sad that I'm a blob. Also, I?m a sucker for a bargain which I think stems from not having much money growing up. If jaffa cakes are full price I don?t buy them yet as soon as they are on offer they leap into my trolley. I need to up the self esteem as I?m worth more than a cheap packet of biscuit.

iluv - was it you that was contemplating a 10K? I did week 4/run 1 of couch to 5K last night. I'm quite enjoying it. I ran for 16 minutes (not all at once). Definitely made me feel good.

iluvcake · 01/03/2011 09:57

knotty, sounds like you had a lovely time yesterday! Glad you are feeling a bit better too.

I had a couple of slip ups yesterday (3 ginger nuts and a chocolate cereal bar) but for the rest of the day was back on track eating wise. Had about 4 cups of coffee though as felt a bit hungry and headachy-probably won't have helped drinking coffee!

Today has started well too. I did weigh myself this morning as was curious and have gone back up to 9.11 which gave me a shock-I was 9.6 before I went on holiday. Need to get out "the shred" I think!

iluvcake · 01/03/2011 10:04

justamin-that's great!! You're right, it does make you feel good. I was going to try and go out again this morning but the little voice in my brain managed to talk me out of itAngry. I managed 13 mins non-stop yesterday. I was talking to a running friend who said I need to be running for 45mins ish to cover 10kShock-just can't imagine running for that long!

I know exactly what you mean about jaffa cakes. I always buy them when they're on special offer too! I always tell myself that I'll have one or two and then eat the whole packet. I think we just need to avoid them. I too use food and sweet things to cheer myself up and as a "treat". As we all know though, it doesn't feel like a treat when you feel yucky and crappy afterwards-we need to change our mindset into thinking that we are treating our bodies by not feeding it with crap.

justaminute · 01/03/2011 10:15

Don't feel Angry about not going for a run iluv. The body needs rest days too Smile.

I actually fancy going out again tonight but the lovely podcast lady says I need to rest. I might do Davina instead

Shaxx · 01/03/2011 22:06

Hi everyone!
I'm back from a lovely holiday in The Canaries and a hectic few days after. Lots of dinners, lunches and parties. All good fun but no good for the diet.

Anyway, its time to get back on track now so here I am going for lots of weight loss.
Here's to a successful March.

Hope you've all been doing well and losing lots of weight :)

knottyhair · 02/03/2011 06:48

Morning all! Justaminute, sounds like your running is going really well, and you're getting to the bottom of the reason for the binges. Did you do Davina? Which one is your favourite? iluvcake, Jesus, the thought of running for 45 mins makes me feel sick. I guess that's why I don't even contemplate something like a 10K Blush. Shaxx, nice to see you back, and sounds like you enjoyed your holiday. Still no exercise for me. Still coughing and sneezing, although I do feel a lot better. Might give Level 1 Shred a go tomorrow. We went out last night to see Mark Thomas and had dinner as well. Was fairly good in the day and had turkey madras & rice in the restaurant. Back on with the healthy eating today, and will make sure I stick to my allowance. Had an unusual few days with DS's birthday and illness etc. so not sure what the scales will show on Friday Hmm.

justaminute · 02/03/2011 09:26

Knotty ? You?ve been a busy bee! I?m so uncultured I had to google Mark Thomas ? was he good/interesting?
I did do Davina last night. I have a Davina box set ? power of 3 and 30 minute workout (I think). I?ve been working my way through Power of 3 so did the core strength section last night ? wasn?t that impressed. I know I need toning but I like to feel that I?ve worked out and that didn?t really do it for me ? plus I couldn?t do all the moves, kept collapsing in a heap for the press up and plank style moves Blush. Intending to run again tonight

Shaxx · 02/03/2011 09:45

I've got Davina too but I haven't done it in ages. I've also got tae-bo which I really like. I might get that out today.
I feel really bloated and bleurgh today (and its all from food rather than totm or anything)so I'm going to have a day eating lots of fresh fruit, veg and live yoghurt.

Justaminute do you run out on the street? I really would like to run again but I'm really nervous about running in the street. I used to just go to the park in the long summer evenings.

Knotty glad you're feeling better and still managing to be healthy on meals out! well done! I have to take a leaf out of that book rather than 'I'm out so I'll eat whatever I want'!

justaminute · 02/03/2011 10:22

Shaxx - good to hear you had a good time. Did you catch any sun and now have a sickeningly healthy glow . Yes, I run the streets - it?s a fairly quiet residential area. I try to go out at 7pm as soon as dh gets in - I like the cover of darkness whilst I improve my running style. I did have the incident last year where I?m convinced I was followed which put me off for a while but I?ve put that behind me.

iluvcake · 02/03/2011 11:04

Hi Shaxx, welcome back! Sounds like you had a lovely time.

PSML knotty at your comment re running for 45mins! I feel the same as you, just can't even get my head around running for that long but I'm trying not to think about it, I'm just steadily adding on a minute or so each time-managed 16mins today (not fast running though, just a jog). There is something wrong with the back of my left knee though-it feels like I've pulled the muscles but it's been there for a few weeks and I just keep ignoring it-probably not the best idea but I don't want to stop exercising.

Well done justamin on doing Davina-I need to get back into the shred, it really does work. I just can't be bothered at the moment. DS is playing up a bit in the evening and I'm coming downstairs at 7.45pm which is too late to exercise when I need to cook for DH & I.

I also had a major blip yesterday. Bought a packet of those mixed mini eggs-caramel, creme and cadbury. I LOVE them and in my head I was saying "they're for DS and his friends" but I knew really I'd end up eating them. I've just got to try and resist. The good news is there was 3 left and I've just eaten themBlush so that's it. Good for rest of day!

Have a good day everyone!

BTW, I don't know who Mark Thomas is eitherBlush. Off to google....

thedogwalker · 02/03/2011 12:33

Hi all, thanks for all your kind words, luckily, my DH's grandad has pulled through, even though he is paralysed from the stroke and I don't think he will regain his movement. So sorry to hear of your loss thinbride, sending you and your mum lots of well wishes.

Well just managed to read through all the threads, looks like knotty kept us all going by herself. Well done knotty on the 2lb loss and I hope you are now feeling better.

Thinbride How is the kitchen renovations going? and did you find your wedding dress?

Shaxx hope you had a great holiday, back to the grind now.

Guitargirl and Justamin we all have bad weeks, but glad to see you're back in the zone, keep up the running, I want to start again and plan on trying my first run this weekend.

Where is Buda, she seems to have sloped off, I hope she is well and comes back to us soon x

Well I have no idea how much I weigh, visiting family, spendng lots of time in hosptial did not endear me to healthy eating. Decided not to depress myself, and so got right back into healthy eating today and will weigh myself on friday as normal.

Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

Hello all - you'd dropped off the threads I'm on. Glad you're all heading back in the zone. Once my deal from hell is done I'll be following you. Until then its a case of grab food when and where I can.

Iluv - do the walk run combo and you can run for 45 minutes.

knottyhair · 02/03/2011 14:19

TDW, glad your DH's grandad pulled through. Justaminute, I haven't done Davina's Power of 3 for a while but I seem to remember that the core strength one felt like a bit of an add on. I can recommend her Super Body or Davina Fit DVDs, although I think Jillian works you harder!
Mark Thomas isn't all that well-known I don't think but he's brilliant (IMO). He is a stand-up but he does a lot of political/protest stuff. His new show is based on the walk he recently did along the length of the Israeli/Palestinian separation wall (doesn't sound funny does it!!) but his account is very funny, moving and interesting, especially all the characters he met along the way and his own admitted naivety about some of the issues facing people in that part of the world. I've spent the morning laying on the sofa coughing but have now pulled my finger out to do a few jobs. Had soup for lunch, and am cooking soy steamed chicken & veg rice for tea so hopefully it might compensate for my lack of activity Smile. Hope everyone's having a good day x

thedogwalker · 03/03/2011 21:39

Hi all.

Knotty I think its great you do the shred so often, I didn't take it with me and so have not done it for a while. I bought the new davina dvd, Body buff its called, so I want to alternate between that and the shred plus get back into running. I am expected to run in my job and I have to do a run as part of a fitness test and with less than 2 months of maternity leave left I'd better start pounding the pavement again Hmm, I just know its gonna hurt.

I've just baked a chocolate brownie cake and coffee 'n' walnut cup cakes with coffee butter icing. My DH has taste tested them and assures me they are gorgeous. I am hosting the weekly coffee morning tomorrow and its hell when I bake as I'm so tempted. But I have resisted but will allow myself one tomorrow, which I will work into my daily calorie allowance. Thank goodness for my DH who is more than willing to taste test.

Well I hope everyone is geared up for the weigh in tomorrow. I doubt I will have lost with living out of suitcase for the last 2 weeks and eating take outs etc, due to long hospital visits, but I've got my fingers x that I haven't put on too much. Good luck everyone xx

OP posts:
knottyhair · 03/03/2011 22:01

TDW, what do you do for a job, if you don't mind me asking. And what a saint your DH is, taste-testing is a difficult job but someone's got to do it Grin.

Not looking forward to the weigh-in tomorrow - have done no exercise since last Thursday apart from a bit of walking. I've managed to stick to my calorie allowance every day apart from about 2 so not sure what will happen! My cold is nearly gone but still got a hacking cough so don't want to make it worse by "gargling my heart". Good luck everyone for tomorrow!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 04/03/2011 07:25

TDW glad you grada pulled through.

I have just weighed in and im 13 st 13.5 so i have STS since my last weigh in 2 weeks ago (i have prob put on and lost it a bit, but im shocked its not more!)

So as its 6 months 3 weeks and 6 days (approx)till i get married i best pull my finger out and get my arse into gear!

My only challeges this week are my friends coming over tonight (will try to get low fat/healthy nibbles) and DS's birthday on monday.
