Well here we go, New Year and NEW US. Wishing everyone good luck and sending lots of happy vibes so that we can all reach our goals Smile

Thinbride, what weight do you want to be by your wedding day? If you work that out and then split that into mini goals, it won't seen such a daunting task, which will then spur you on Grin. We all know you can do it, so start believing and thinking of walking down that aisle looking drop dead gorgeous. Oh and sts is good.

Knotty, hope your cold clears up soon, horrible aren't they. I don't mind answering your question, I hope you don't mind what I do for a living. I am in the military, so am expected to keep a certain level of fitness. I normally keep quiet about my job as it can evoke quite a lot of debate, however, I only do what I'm told to do, I don't set the rules for where we go or what we do there. Sorry if that sounded quite defensive but I never know how people are going to react.

Well after 2 weeks in the UK eating lots of Indian curries (they are not very good here in Germany), lots of fish and chips and pub roast dinners, I have manged to sts, I am well chuffed at that Grin.

Hope everyone has a good day and a great weigh in. Take care xx

Lol at TDW's DH selflessly tasting those delicious sounding cakes! V impressed at your self restraint TDW. Good luck with getting back into running - I have to admit I always have to force myself to run (and lie to myself - only a 10 minutes run, then when it gets to that time, only another 10 minutes, etc to keepy me going - how sad is that Blush). Glad your DH's granddad pulled through ok - must be a huge relief.

After week from hell at work (averaging 4 hours sleep a night and v little time to exercise or do more than grab a sandwich or bag of crisps from the supermarket next to our offices, no time to venture any further) I've managed to sts - must be the stress eating away at the calories... Confused

Thinbride - good advice from TDW. Have you found THE DRESS? How about putting a picture of that up on the fridge/biffing food cupboard to remind you of your goal everytime you're tempted to fall out of the zone?

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 04/03/2011 09:25

I would like to be 11.5st ideally but would settle for 12st, i think i need to average out at about 1.5 to 2lb per week.

I have not found THE dress as yet but have seen a few contenders.

My STS was a miracle as i have been the same as TDW being away in and out the hospital and eating junk and whatever was quickest to eat.

I need to get back into a healthy mind set and do some exercise, which i should resume next week as my house is upside down with the kitchen being done and half the kitchen conents in my bedroom there is no room to shred (excuses, excuses).

Well done dinky and tdw on the STS, especially after such hectic weeks.

TDW if you dont mind me asking is your DP in the military too? if so what happens to your DS if you both got posted? or would that just not happen? (nosey emoticon).

knottyhair · 04/03/2011 10:28

Morning! Thinbride, Dinky and TDW, well done on STS! And TDW, I think you do a very difficult job. We all have opinions etc. about what's going on in some parts of the world, and our government's decisions but I would never pass judgement on any individual in the military - who am I to do that?? I'm sorry you get such negative reactions. My main problem with your job is that you have to run, no-one should have to do that Grin.
I've lost 1.5lbs this week, with no Shredding, so pleased with that. Also have lost about 7" all over in 2 weeks which I can't quite believe! Measured myself several times to check! Still coughing but it is better. Maybe I can start exercising again on Sunday - I weirdly miss it Shock. Never thought I'd say something like that. Hope everyone's having a good day xx

justaminute · 04/03/2011 11:02

well done losers and "sts"ers.

One pound off for me.

Knotty - you are doing amazing to lose weight whilst being ill and celebrating your ds's birthday. The inch loss is doubly amazing - you'll be needing to buy a new wardrobe soon. I think I'm going to stick with Davina and running on alternate days this month and switch back to the Shred next month.

TDW - no judgement on your career choice from me. I had you down as a nutritionalist based on your previous posts.

Dinky - hope your deal comes to an end soon, working those hours must be a killer. I went to bed at midnight and ds was up at 4.15 today - I feel awful, can't imagine what you must be going through to only be having 4 hours sleep regularly. I like my bed and will need to be strong to avoid an attack of the munchies today.

dinkystinky · 04/03/2011 11:39

Well done Knotty and Justaminute on your losses - great stuff!

Justaminute - you have my sympathies Smile I'm mainlining green tea at the moment in an effort to stay awake (and not biff)....

Shaxx · 04/03/2011 13:45

Well done Knotty and Just on losses.
Well dont others on sts!

I haven't weighed myself today as I know I've gained and would rather not know. Hopefully I'll be a bit more sorted next week.
Its been hard for me to get back into it and I'm struggling at the moment.

Dinky hope you get to rest over the weekend. Sounds like a nightmare.

TDW No judgment from me either.

ooh A daffodil! how lovely St Davids

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 10:16

I've found the wagon and climbing back on today!

I've been shopping and planned my food.

Weetabix, banana, yoghurt
mushrooms, tomato, toast
spiced cod, rice, green beans
snacks are satsumas and a packet of low fat srisp things 83cals)

Exercise is Tae-bo dvd

iluvcake · 05/03/2011 10:48

Hi all.

Well done everyone. A very good week of losses and STS. Am sorry to spoil the record with a 0.5lb gain-that's with two lots of running and a bootcamp classSad. Am going to have to stop the snacking on those mini eggs. Can't wait till Easter is over!

thedogwalker, glad to hear all is ok with DH's grandad. I think you have a really difficult job and really admire you-I couldn't do it. WOULD like a job where I am expected to be fit thoughGrin!

Still not quite there(as you can probably tell) with the zoning. Weirdly, I feel bigger than ever-having lost weight each time I put any back on I feel much chunkier-is that my imagination or is there some weird thing that happens to your body where it clings onto flab? I bloody hope not.

Had friends for dinner last night and the main meal was fairly healthy but made two very fattening desserts. Only had a bit of one. Got into bed at 2.15am and DS woke up at 6.40am so feeling a bit jaded today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

knottyhair · 05/03/2011 12:40

Justaminute and Dinky, thanks for the encouragement. Shaxx, sounds like you're right back on the wagon. What's your spiced cod like, sounds nice! iluvcake, you did well only having a little bit of dessert last night, hope you have an easy day today. Is your jaded state just down to lack of sleep or was there wine involved Grin? Took DS to town this morning, he wanted breakfast out. So he had an apple turnover about the same size as him and a babyccino, and I had a ham sandwich and a skinny latte. Had it late so don't fancy any lunch. DP is babysitting for our niece & nephew tonight, so I've let DS choose our tea to be eaten in front of the TV as a treat and he wants egg-fried rice with veg and soy sauce! Managed to find a recipe that uses a little bit of oil (not that you need one for that, but I wanted to be sure of the calories). I going to start the Shred tomorrow morning again, as cough is nearly gone. Better go back to Level 1 given that I've had a week off Blush. Have a good weekend everyone!

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 15:08

iluvcake don't worry about 0.5lb. You can lose that in a couple of days! I don't about any weird flab-clinging thing but I know I feel really bloated and flabby everytime I put a little weight on too. Well done for resisting desserts.

Knotty your brunch and dinner sounds very healthy.
The spiced cod thing is from the bbcgoodfood low fat recipe book. Its basically mixing some tandoori paste into greek yoghurt with some ginger and lemon juice to make a marinade.
Coat fish in marinade for at least 1/2hr then grill and serve with rice and green beans.
Fry some onions and ginger thoroughly and sprinkle on top of the fish (I'm not going to bother with that bit!)
Let me know if you want exact measures.

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 15:08

Oh, have done my tae-bo dvd! hooray. its not as hard as shred!

knottyhair · 05/03/2011 15:11

Shaxx, I've got that I think - is it in Low Fat Feasts? Have you done it before? Looks v.nice.

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 15:47

Yes Knotty, thats the one. I haven't made it before but I can imagine I'd like it! In fact dh is cooking it today.
Everything I've made from that book has been really nice. Even a strange chicken/onion/mustard/cider recipe (but substituted cider with apple juice) was really nice.

knottyhair · 05/03/2011 16:05

I use it a lot as well. So far, tomato & olive spaghetti, the tuna & tomato rice, zesty noodle stirfry, chicken & broccoli noodles, also the cider & mustard chicken thing, chicken with tomatoes & coriander, spiced plum chicken, herby cod grills, mediterranean cod, smoked haddock fishcakes, prawns with tomato & feta, quick paella all good. Any other ones I should try? I've also got the Healthy Eats one which is good as well.

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 18:56

You've used it more than me Knotty!
I've done the thai spiced chicken, warm potato and spinach salad and glazed lemon pepper chicken.
The fish is looking good!

As its Saturday, I've also made a lemon pudding so I'll have a small portion of that (worked out at about 200cals)

Shaxx · 05/03/2011 18:58

Would you recommend all the ones you've tried? I was intrigued by the spiced plum chicken as I've never made anything like that before. Was it good?

knottyhair · 05/03/2011 20:00

We've liked everything we've tried so far. The plum chicken was nice, although I had to use just ordinary prunes. Sort of Moroccany flavours, even DS liked it. I had to add rose harissa to mine though, I like my food with a bit of poke! Let me know what the fish is like Smile.

Shaxx · 06/03/2011 13:21

I'll try that one next week.
Today I'm making a chicken curry from the website.

The spicy cod was really nice (the pudding was better though Grin)

Today I've done no exercise but might go for a long brisk walk by myself.

food plan for today
weetabix, banana, yoghurt
chickpea, spinach, rice
chicken curry, rice

thedogwalker · 06/03/2011 14:09

Hi all

Went for my first run in 18 months, oops, had meant to get back to it sooner. I'd forgotten to charge up my garmin GPS running watch, so not sure how far I ran for but managed to run for 22 minutes. My dog was not so happy and I had to drag her along, she is now 15 years old and I think her running days are behind her.

Now going to alternate between running, shred and the new davina dvd. hopefully keep my body guessing.

Thinbride Yes my DH is in same job and yes we are getting posted apart this year. I am due to go back to UK in June and he is staying in germany for another year (with 6 months of that away in the place nobody wants their partners to go to Sad. My Mum is coming to live with me for a while and then I'm looking to get an aupair, so that child care is completely sorted and I have no worries of collecting from nursery etc. My job is not a 9 to 5 sadly. Sorry if that has bored everybody else.

Well I hope you are all having a good weekend and staying in the zone and Knotty I hope your cold has finally cleared up.

Take care all xx

knottyhair · 06/03/2011 14:20

Hi everyone. Shaxx, glad the fish was nice, might give that a go this week. Which chicken curry are you doing? TDW, blimey 22 minutes sounds pretty good to me. Sorry you and your DH have to be separated, and that he has to go to "that place" - I can't imagine what that would be like Sad.

Managed Level 1 of Shred this morning, felt very odd afterwards. I didn't seem to sweat as much as usual, and managed to do Natalie version (apart from one set of press-ups). But I felt very trembly afterwards, like I did at the very beginning and it did trigger a bit of a coughing fit! Took me a while to feel normal again! Made that nice lentil & chickpea soup for lunch (it'll be a windy afternoon at Knotty Towers - DP & DS already exhibiting "symptoms"), and pork stew type thing with mash and cabbage for tea - more "symptoms" tonight then Grin!

Shaxx · 06/03/2011 14:29

lol Knotty. I hope I don't live within a 10mile radius of your home. All that chickpeas and cabbage. What a pong Grin

I'm going to do this one
www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1324/chilli-chicken-curry

Well done on your exercise too. Looks like 'Your Stroooong'!

TDW Sorry to hear your dh is being posted away. It must be very hard on all of you. I wish the world wasn't in such a mess Sad
Well done on 22mins running.

I'm still umming and ahhing about exercise. I'm so lazy sometimes. Although I am trying to do lots of housework.

dinkystinky · 06/03/2011 14:42

Oh TDW - that sounds so tough, sorry you and Dh are going to have to separated for such a long time, and that DH is going to be sent to that place also. Sad V impressed at your managing to run for 22 minutes for your first run in 18 months though Grin And knotty -well done on doing the natalie shred Smile

justaminute · 06/03/2011 20:37

Blimey TDW - running for 22 minutes having not run for 18 months is some going. I was feeling mildly chuffed that I've just done week 5 run 1 of couch to 5K, I did 3 lots of 5 mins, you have put me to shame BIG style.

Dinky as I was running I was thinking of your comment about how you tell yourself you are doing 10 minutes to then do another 10 and so on, but in my case I was telling myself to run to the next lamp post and then the next etc Blush.

Shax & knotty - your posts are making me hungry!

I have to report a mini chocolate binge yesterday. I went on an unsuccesful shopping trip. The sight of my bulges in changing room mirrors was depressing. Such moments should spur me on to do something about it but instead I wallow in self pity. Anyone else suffer like this or are you made of stronger stuff?

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 07/03/2011 06:47

Look at you all in the exercise zone! Well done.

Shaxx and Knotty, those recipes sound lovely! Unfortunatly my lot wont touch anthing so aventurous, so im stuck trying to sneak one new meal in every now and again!

TDW, im sorry to hear you and your husband will be posted apart and thet he has to go "there", you must be really strong to cope with that! Also its great that your mum will be able to come and help you out with settling in and child care.

Been good and bad at the weekend and its DS 3rd birthday today so will have some party nibbles mee thinks!
