Well here we go, New Year and NEW US. Wishing everyone good luck and sending lots of happy vibes so that we can all reach our goals Smile

Buda - everyone I know who has done WW has been very successful on it, I do believe the adverts which say it can result in long-term weight-loss. The only reason I don't think it would work for me is that I wouldn't have the patience with the whole points thing. But good on you! And I totally get what you mean about the novelty aspect being appealing, any kind of kick start is good I reckon.

Dinky - enjoy your DS's party! We had a joint party for DD and DS a couple of weeks ago where I ate my weight in cheesy puffs - and that's quite some weight at the moment! Blush

I am still plodding on with Shred, missed a day yesterday as I was at work late but I walked loads to make up for it so am hobbling about with stiff legs today. Am planning on staying on Level 1 until Monday and then attempting Level 2 which will mean 2 weeks on Level 1. One of the main things I like about it is that I actually don't find her irritating. I have done DVDs in the past where I have wanted to punch the instructor they were so smug and annoying. But this am actually finding quite bearable!

knottyhair · 02/02/2011 22:12

Guitargirl, YES, Jillian makes me laugh even though I don't think it's intentional. "You're STRONG, this is EASY for you!" "Neck is not invited to this party, it's all ABS!". Cracks me up.

Buda · 03/02/2011 08:42

Thanks for encouragement guys!

Starting today. Using today as a try-out and will weigh tomorrow and use that as my real starting weight. Have people over for dinner on Saturday which is a pain but will try and do sensible food.

knottyhair · 03/02/2011 09:10

Morning everyone! Day off the Shred today, so trying to put some elbow grease into the housework and shopping (oh the glamour of my life). Good on you, Buda, you can do it.

dinkystinky · 03/02/2011 10:54

Morning all.

Buda - take a look at the recipe section on WW online - there are some lovely recipes on there (including a fish pie my boys both loved and delicious scallops stirfry DH loved) which will help you have a nice dinner within points(ish) if you want to.

Enjoy the housework and shopping knotty!

knottyhair · 03/02/2011 19:52

Thanks Dinky! Just a quickie to say we had this - www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/11640/spanish-rice-and-prawn-onepot - for tea and it was very very nice!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 04/02/2011 07:02

Morning all you Zoners!

Sorry i have been absent but i was trying to focus on staying in the zone as i stayed the same last week (not counting when i was sick so went by the weigh in on the tue before as i new losing all that in a 2 days was not good), but this week i lost 2lbs! So in total since the 4th Jan i have lost 8lb.

Im rather jealous of all you shredders and exercisers as i just cant get into the exercise groove. Must make more of an effort.

Buda well done for joining WW, i find it helps having something to focus on.

Guitargirl · 04/02/2011 08:08

thinbride - that's brilliant news, well done! I can't say that shredding is my favourite part of the day to be honest but I do feel good once it's done!

I weighed in at 3.25 pounds down today so am happy with that, it feels like a very long road to go...

Buda · 04/02/2011 08:18

Hi all.

Well yesterday was ok till around 4pm and then turned into an unmitigated disaster! Went WAY over my points I think and drank far too much red wine and Baileys. Wouldn't mind but it was just a Thursday night in with DH!

So am sat here feeling a bit fragile and eating the breakfast I have been craving since I woke up - porridge with blueberries and almonds. Heading out then to a Cafe for Book CLub with some friends.

Dinky - I had a look at the REcipes on WW but nothing grabbed me. Not finding it particularly user friendly just yet. So am doing carrot, butternut squash and coriander soup to start, beef bourginon with mash and green veg as a main and sticky date cake with balsamic sauce for dessert. All easy stuff to do as DH is out all day tomorrow. I never eat that much at my own dinner parties! Drink too much though!

Will be trying to get some time to meal plan for next week. I have some old WW cookbooks - presumably I can used recipes from them and then work out the points on the new system on the website?

Have taken your advice about the activity points too. Def makes sense to use that rather than the 49 extra unless you really need to.

The weather is supposed to start getting warmer here from today. Which will mean the garden will be a swamp tomorrow so i will need to wash the floors at least once with the dogs in and out. And it will inspire me to get out and about a bit more next week. It has been so cold here that I have just been hibernating.

justaminute · 04/02/2011 09:28

Been lurking ? too ashamed to post. I?ve been bad, v. bad this week. Consequently 4 pounds (eeek) on!

Dh has been away so I?ve either comfort/ binge eaten due to boredom / loneliness or friends have been over armed with wine & chocolate. On the plus side I?ve kept up the shredding and the clothes feel loser so I?m not quite sure where the weight is sitting.

I?m really kicking myself for missing an opportunity to be good this week but hey ho. Dh is back on Saturday so I?m hoping to get back in the groove, I can?t eat handfuls of chocolate with an audience.

Shaxx · 04/02/2011 09:35

Well done Guitargirl and Thinbride!

Good luck with ww Buda

I had another sts this week. I expected that really due to last weekend.

Not sure of my plan for today. Its a dark gloomy day today and just feel like having lots of tea and toast!

knottyhair · 04/02/2011 10:00

Morning! Great news, Guitargirl and Thinbride, fantastic! Buda, hope the weather changes soon for you, and good luck with WW. Shaxx - well done on your sts. Justaminute, if your clothes are feeling looser, that's got to be good! Didn't someone say that the Shred is more likely to lose inches than pounds? Hope so anyway, as I've only lost half a pound this week. Still a loss I know. I guess my system must have gone into shock last week! I haven't been eating or exercising any differently but AF has been here but I don't know how much of a difference "she" would've made. Anyway, onwards and upwards! Just done Level 2 of Shred for the 1st time - oh my god is all I'm saying.

dinkystinky · 04/02/2011 10:19

Morning all - well done on your losses Guitargirl and Thinbride, great stuff. And Shaxx - sts is good - keep the faith and there will be a loss next wk.

Justaminute - 4lbs on! Some of that will be water retention but some of that is just biffing food - I know and more importantly YOU know you can lose it and you know what to do. Get rid of the biffing food and back into the zone with you. Do extra exercise in penance. Drink lots of water and avoid the wine for a week and I bet you'll have got rid of most of that weight gain by this time next week. Good luck.

Buda - I find interspersing glasses of wine with glasses of water helps cut back on the number of booze calories I drink.

Knotty - it was me saying that the shred (as with most exercise with weights) will help you lose inches rather than pounds. The good thing about doing the new level is that it will shock your body (it gets used to doing the same kind of exercise all the time which is not a good thing) and boost that metabolism - keep telling yourself that as you do level 2.

So my weigh in - 3lbs off this week. Shoulder is better, DH has been away so have been hitting the exercise hard during the week and making soup or stirfries (though last night had a home made lamb ragu to use up the last of the minced lamb) for dinner which has helped I think. Have also been off the booze (and the empty calories it represents) for the past week which has helped I think. Am sure will be a sts next week though as that's the way my weight loss seems to go.

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 04/02/2011 10:30

Well done Dinky and Guitargirl and shax for sts!

I agree with dinky justamin, if you have been exercising and biffing i cant see that 4lb being all weight on, def a bit of water retension.

Will try harder to shred this week as i really want to be toned as well and thin!

thedogwalker · 04/02/2011 11:59

Hi all

Well done to everyone, great news on those losses, great to see you back Thinbride. Justamin, hey I had a bad week last week and came back stronger than ever, so don't worry too much.

I agree with Dinky, keep the faith, I had 3 weeks of sts, which is why I went off the rails for one week, but I do think that when you are losing weight, your body sometimes gets to a platau, where it just needs to stay for a short while, so don't get disheartened.

So my weigh in today, YIPPPEEEE, lost 2 lbs, so I am really happy, just 1 more lb to go and then that is all by baby weight gone Grin.

Lots of positive stories this week,so lets keep it up.

Going to do level 2 of shred later, so thanks knotty for the warning, I'm already thinking OMG, but then I remind myslef it is only 20 mins so hey ho.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, take care xx

knottyhair · 04/02/2011 12:10

Dinky, well done! And I'll keep your advice in mind when I'm panting and grunting in the morning!
TDW, fab loss! As for Level 2, you might find it OK (I'm a bit of a wuss). I enjoyed it, as it was something different from the last 7 days but certain sections for me were rather "challenging" shall we say. Good luck anyway.

justaminute · 04/02/2011 13:04

Thanks for the words of encouragement ladies. You?ve all done so well this week I feel like I?m letting the side down.

Fingers crossed I?m suffering with water retention. I want to be thin but I?m struggling to do anything about it, apart from the shred which I sadistically enjoy ? I moved onto level 3 last night, my shoulders are feeling it today I tell you.

Another friend over tonight, she wants to get a takeaway but I?ve insisted on cooking. I?m planning a chicken & tomato dish with berries, yoghurt & meringue for pud to counteract some of this week?s biffing. Buda your menu sounds divine.

I have a game of netball sorted for next week and I think I?ll try and get back to running. I tend to be in the right frame of mind to eat well if I?m exercising.

thedogwalker · 04/02/2011 13:07

Justaminute, you're doing all the right things, so just keep the faith and it will all come good in the end, it took me 3 weeks of sts and a biff week, before I've lost anything, the trick is to stay positive. All that sport etc should get you losing in no time. Keep smiling and feel good about yourself Smile

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 04/02/2011 13:21

I've just been strong Grin, DH rang and said he was calling into McDonalds on his way home, (he's been working away all week) and did I want anything??? I was very brave and said no. Will kill me when he's eating it infront of me, but I've already weighed out some brazil nuts, to chomp on whilst he indulges.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 04/02/2011 13:55

Good on you for taking control Justaminute - carry on shredding and do a couple of runs along with netball and that should do as penance.

Well done for staying strong TDW - though I must be odd as the smell of a McDs puts me off food rather than wanting to eat it (same with kfc and burger king too - no idea why!)

thedogwalker · 04/02/2011 18:56

Double OMG.....double Blush, just done level 2 shred. Justamin how do you manage level 3, you are a goddess.

Will defo stick to it, but that will certainly have shaken my muscles up a bit.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, take care xx

OP posts:
thinbridewaitingtogetout · 04/02/2011 21:40

quite proud of myself as fridays are usually biff fests as dp plays darts and im home alone but i planned ahead and i have just scoffed a bowl of Sugar free jelly and evaporated milk (only 53cal a portion) brought me back to my childhood i tell you.

knottyhair · 05/02/2011 06:30

TDW - I agree with you about Justamin, I can't imagine the horrors of Level 3! I'll be tackling Level 2 again this morning with DS showing off encouraging me.

Thinbride, well done on staying biff-free!

dinkystinky · 05/02/2011 06:32

Ugh, have hangover. Was out last night with DH, sister and her fiance and had about 3 gin & slims and a glass of wine and got to bed around 1 - only for DS2 to wake up at 5.30. Back to no-booze I think. Ugh.

Will be focusing on not-biffing today. Have an exciting day of bed shopping and making house renovation decisions today - SO not in the mood. Ugh.

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 05/02/2011 09:28

Ah Dinky there is nothing worse than a hangover, especialy if A you have to get up early B you need to go out and C you crave hangover food!

This is why i dont drink too often.

Well after a month on the diet and only shredding once (then i got the cold) and not having motivation.........................................................I have finally sherdded today! WooHoo, i feel very energised tho so thats a good thing.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend.
