Thank you thedogwalker!

Welcome to the new thread everyone!

Shaxx · 07/01/2011 20:34

Hello! Thanks for starting this.
Here's to healthy eating and lots of losses Smile

I've had a good day today but no exercise unfortunately. I got up late then didn't get time.
I've stuck to my 1200cal limit but am really struggling at the moment. I'm not hungry but want to snack in front of the tv.
I always struggle over the weekends.

thedogwalker · 07/01/2011 20:43

Well I didn't shred today, but did sexercise instead, which is far more exciting Blush plus it didn't hurt my thighs like shredding does Grin

but I will shred again tomorrow.

Have a good weekend x

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 07/01/2011 20:45

I have had another good day today, and even survived lunch at my friends (she made a healthy veg soup!) and i brought banana muffins.

Still no exercise but loads of walking which will have to do till i feel more motivated!

No weekend biffing here ladies! We can do this.

Guitargirl · 07/01/2011 21:32

Hi everyone,

I used to be on this thread last year and then fell off the wagon big time...but am back and filled with resolve!

At my heaviest I was 13 stone 3. I went down to 11 stone 6 around October time before it all went to pot and I am now 12 stone 10. Grrr. I am SO wobbly it's quite horrible.

I might investigate the shred thing as I definitely need to exercise more.

encyclogirl · 07/01/2011 22:02

Biffage free zone here too, mostly thanks to dh who is now on pro points.

I will say that it's 500% easier to stay on plan when the entire family is eating the same healthy food.

Lovely shiny new thread dogwalker :)

iluvcake · 07/01/2011 23:26

Hurrah! We made it over to the new thread-always seems quite daunting, like some sort of beamed-up star trek thing (ignore me, it's lateGrin).

thedogwalker, sexercise is good, it all countsWink!

Welcome back guitargirl, am sure you'll be able to shift what you've put on pretty quickly now you're back in the zone.

Have a friend coming to stay from Oz tomorrow morning, so lots of nice traditional british food over the weekend (will try and stay away from roasties etc.) and also out tomorrow night for dinner. Will try my hardest, I SO want to lose this week.

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 08/01/2011 07:39

guitargirl - welcome back! wont belong before you shift those extra lbs!

thedogwalker - i missed the bit about sexercise! and yes thats got to be better than shredding.

dinkystinky · 08/01/2011 09:34

Morning all, welcome back guitargirl and ta for new thread thedogwalker. Watched really interesting programme on bbc iplayer - something like 10 things you need to know about losing weight - which was really interesting watching. All the stuff on there was science based. Definitely recommend watching it if you can. Apparently a little bit of low fat dairy is a good thing (calcium helps you expel any fat you consume), exercise (any you can do) is a great idea as once you've used up the carbs in your body it continues using up fat cells for up to 24 hours after exercise, thick blended soup is the secret to feeling fuller for longer, protein (in a calorie controlled diet) will keep you feeling fuller for longer too and the fat you really want to lose is the visceral fat inside of you that you cant see.

Shaxx · 08/01/2011 10:27

Hi guitargirl. We'll help you back into the zone Smile

Dogwalker Hmmm sexercise. Definitely sounds much better than shred, though I think you could put more effort into it to get those thighs working Grin

Encyclogirl I totally agree with you. Dh is trying to lose his belly weight which seems to have increased over the last couple of months. Because he refused to snack last night, I didn't have anything either.

Iluvcake good luck. Its always hard when you're entertaining or out and about. I suggest you fill up on fruit as much as you can to keep overeating at bay.

Dinky I saw that programme too. Someones linked it on a thread in this section. It was really intereting though I was shocked at that lady who only listed 1100cals (and genuinely believed it) but had really eaten over 3000. How is that possible??!!

Well, I stayed away from the snacks last night. Hooray!. I think it gets easier.
I've shredded this morning and am just thinking what to do for the rest of the day with the family. It wouuld be nice to go out but the weather is pants.

Have a good day everyone!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 08/01/2011 16:17

Im loving WW pp, im a having a steak (george formaned) with giant garlic mushrooms, hm low fat chips and a pile of salad with balsamic dressing and i cant wait!

been planning this since i done my meal planner for the shopping list and its my treat of the week.

Shaxx · 08/01/2011 21:52

mmm sounds lovely thinbride.

I have been bad this evening.

Dh really wanted to an Indian meal tonight so we gave in. We shared a chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and seekh kebabs plus dessert.
It was delicious but I shouldn't have had it really.

I promise to be extra good tomorrow.

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 09/01/2011 08:31

Shaxx you shared it so it was only half the fat and calories! Also it was a treat, which you are allowed.

Also my dinner was delish, put a spicy rub on the steak and it was so nice.

Shaxx · 09/01/2011 10:27

Thinbride I told dh that next week we'll cook a curry ourselves so I'm going to find a healthy recipe. Your way sounds much better!

I think I'm having a cursed day today.
Its only 10.20am and so far I've crashed my lovely car into a skip (nice big scratch. and I am normally a good driver)
Broken a glass while unloading the dishwasher
Spilt very hot coffee all over the kitchen counter.

Oh dear.

GandTiceandaslice · 09/01/2011 11:41

Hello there.
I am doing SW. Well properly from tomorrow.
I've decided to rejoin the class. I don't have the motivation to do it myself.
I have just written my mealplanner for the week.
I have approx 18lbs to lose. Will find out tomorrow.
Shaxx, what a shite morning x

thedogwalker · 09/01/2011 11:48

Oh dear shaxx, hope your day gets better, but they say things come in 3s and so that is you now so hopefully no more bad luck for you. Hope you're alright after the colliding with the skip, sending lot of uncursed vibes your way Grin

here is a curry I cooked the other night and it was absolutley fantastic, only small amount of oil used and then when that is divided between the 4 portions its virtually nothing, but believe me it tatses great. I will be cooking it on a regualr basis, no more take away curries for me Grin.

I have shredded today and it is already feeling a bit easier, not that it is easy, but I feel I'm getting better already, so I am well happy, but I won't be moving to level 2 anytime soon, I want to master the level and maybe do it with heavier weights or am I just plain stupid Confused.

Anyway hope everyone is having a good weekend and make that curry, honest you wont be disappointed. Take care xx

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 09/01/2011 12:03

shaxx, your day dose not sound like its going too well!, but as dogwalker says bad luck comes in 3's so that should be you for the day!

dogwalker that recipe looks really good, do you think you could re-heat it if made earlier in the day? as i was planning a beef curry with the leftover sunday roast today on tuesday but want to eat it later in the day.

thedogwalker · 09/01/2011 13:17

Thinbride, I made loads and I had some the next day reheated and it tasted just fine, so yes, make it earlier and heat up, if it goes too thick just add a bit of water to it.

OP posts:
Shaxx · 09/01/2011 13:29

Hello GandT. Well done for doing a meal plan. That always helps. I should do one too.

Thanks for your kind words everyone. I'm not looking forward to the bill for the car or the inconvenience of being without it for a while. Oh well, these things happen.

Thanks for that recipe thedogwalker. It looks very good. I'll definitely try it.
thinbride curry is always fine reheated. I do it all the time.

I have just had some home made carrot and coriander soup and ryvita. I feel quite comforted now. It would be nice to have some cake but I won't.

justaminute · 09/01/2011 20:14

Found you all.

Good to see you back Guitargirl. It's scary how quickly and easily the weight goes on. Just wish it would diappear as quickly.

Doh Shax, what a bummer of a day.

Dinky - I saw that BBC programme too - love all the science bit behind the tips. I now have 3 tubs of homemade soup in the fridge for lunches this week. Nothing fancy just various leftover veggies that I've blitzed with some veg stock but they taste yum and I feel virtuous for not throwing the leftovers out.

Weekend hasn't been too bad here. A few indiscretions but no major biffing. Life would be unbearable if I cut out all naughties.

I bought a top this weekend but I'm really not sure about it. It's a sort of kaftan/tunic thing from the White Stuff sale, fitted at the bust then flares out. The trouble is I think my tummy makes it look like a maternity top. I'm not sure whether to keep it and use it as a goal or return it - what would you all do?

Buda · 10/01/2011 07:37

HI All. Happy New year and Happy New Thread!

Another lapsed Nothing Tastes Better regular here. Fell off wagon around October.

Started in March at 16 st 10
Got to 15 st 1 on first of October.
Am 15 st 12 this morning. Pah. All my own fault.

Anyway. Onwards and downwards from here on.

Diet wise I was doing low GI and no crap carbs. So no bread other than rye. No pasta, rice or potatoes. Lots of veg, protein and pulses and beans. DH is also over weight so eats the same way which makes life easier.

When this Nothing Tastes Better group started way back in the day it was a tough talking, no excuses accepted group. The mantras were:

NOTHING Tastes as Good as Being Slim Feels

Will it really make me happy? (Will that biscuit or cake make me happy or will I feel better NOT having it?)

Will it still be there when I am slim? (Obv not that particular cake or biscuit or whatever but in general will you still be able to get that food when you are slim? If so don't eat it.)

And finally..............

No BIFFING! (Biffing being eating crap)

So. I would like some tough talking please. I currently live in Budapest but we are leaving next July and moving back to UK. We fly out of here on July 5th and head to Florida for 3 weeks. So I have 6 months to lose as much weight as possible. I also need to exercise. I am bad at that. My aim is to run 5K. I have 2 dogs that need walking and I was doing really well at doing an hour long walk last summer/autumn. I also have an unopened Shred DVD!

I am just back from a week in Dublin and there is still lots of Christmas crap lying around. I also have a suitcase still to unpack. So today's plan is to unpack, tidy away Christmas goodies for DS or junk whatever I know he won't eat. Hunt out my fave healthy recipes and meal plan for the rest of the week. And drink water and green tea.

Great to see all the oldies and to see newbies too. I must admit I am feeling enthused again. Long may it last!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 10/01/2011 07:45

Justaminute - Glad you found us

Budda - welcome back! (im mamammiafigaro or slobbadan) im getting married in October so thats my incentive! and i have just joined WW last week.

Still zoning merrily away but jet to exercise, so must get a grip and start.

dinkystinky · 10/01/2011 08:52

Morning all - welcome back Buda and G&T (is it ex-largeG&T or a new G&T member?). Buda - here comes the straight talk you were looking for. You know how and why you put on the weight, you know how and why you need to lose the weight - its a lifestyle change you're looking for: you want to be healthy, happy and slim. And you are the only one with the power to bring that about. Bin the xmas goodies, get out there doing extra long walks with the dogs - push yourself to walk faster/raise that heartbeat, eat only healthy unprocessed food, cut back (or even better, cut out entirely - at least for the next few weeks) on alcohol and load up on water and green tea and open that Shred dvd and make an appointment each day to do it - its only 20 minutes and while it'll be hard to do it to start off with, it will get easier and you'll be proud of the achievement. And come back on here to let us know if you're sticking to the straight and narrow or if you need a kick up the bum or two. Was that along the lines of what you're were thinking of?

Thinbride - WW will help you lose weight, but add in a bit of exercise too and you'll tone to look lovely and toned in that wedding dress. If you start now you'll be looking svelte and fit by October with a 2 prong approach so get out there and do some - whatever raises your heartbeat for at least 30 minutes.

Justaminute - I'd send that top back, zone it for the next few weeks and treat yourself to a fab new top in February that you shows off the product of all your hard work. It can be something to work towards.

dinkystinky · 10/01/2011 08:54

p.s. Semizoned weekend but as spent around 4 hours walking around in the freezing cold on Saturday and did outdoor PT session yesterday, think my overall calorie consumption over the weekend was just about a net loss.

Buda · 10/01/2011 10:06

thebridewaiting - congratulations! A wedding dress is a great incentive.

dinky - I knew I could rely on you for the straight talking! Thank you.

justamin - I know what you mean about those style of tops. I avoid as they make me look PG. I think I would send it back too.

Well so far so good. Breakfast was granola with extra nuts and dried fruit. Just having my first green tea of the day and of the new year!

DS is not back to school till tomorrow so the exercise will start then. I promise!

Have a load of carrots in the fridge so am planning on making carrot and lentil soup later.
