Wow, thinbride, that sounds fab!

When are you going to do it?

iluvcake · 14/01/2011 14:22

Hi Cyb.

When I am totally in the zone, I stay away from bad carbs and sugar.

Porridge for breakfast, rye bread with protein and salad etc. or home made soup for lunch and usually protein and piles of veg for dinner. Two snacks as well of nuts or fruit or oatcakes with nut butter. Plenty of water.

Exercise wise it's shred whenever I can and Pilates/Bootcamp fitness/Street dancing classes once a week.

As I say, that's when I'm "zoning". Am finding it a little tough since Christmas to get into it again....

How are you planning to tackle your weight loss?

iluvcake · 14/01/2011 14:23

Oops sorry, you did say...Blush. Get with it iluvHmm.

dinkystinky · 14/01/2011 14:28

Welldone Justaminute - great stuff - and congrats Thinbride.

Cyb - as you know I do a lot of exercise. As a consequence I also have a huge appetite. Vicious blimming cycle. Though thanks to the exercise and muscle mass I have at least I'm a size 10-12 at my current weight rather than the 14 I would be otherwise. I do bodycombat 2x a week, running once a week (though should try to up to 2x a week), pt session with kettlebells, boxing class, circuits and pilates session 2x a week. No bloody wonder I'm hungry all the time. I get bored if I do the same thing all the time so mixing it up is good for me.

Top tip - drink lots and lots of water. But not before a run or shred/heavy duty exercise class. Will fill you up and stop you biffing and the 42 trips to the loo a day will all help burn some calories.

Cyb · 14/01/2011 14:30

Iluv I'm just going to resist the biscuit tin at breaktime at work and when I get in from work in the afternoon.

And when I'm on the phone I have been known to butter chunks of crusty bread and cram it in my gob as though I'm about to go to the gallows

I am going to exercise when I have a spare 30 mins, just go for a run

Its breaking habits for me!

GabbyLoggon · 14/01/2011 14:35

I once knew a phone-in presenter. He liked his food and wanted lose weight ; so he ate what he liked; and did 3 or 4 hours hard exercise every day at ze gym.

I mentioned this to people and they said he was "risking his health" What say you?

dinkystinky · 14/01/2011 15:35

You can do it Cyb - I have broken free of the biscuit tin at work and the feeling of liberation is brilliant! I think the thing you need to focus on is mindful eating rather than mindless eating so that everything that you do eat, you appreciate.

GabbyLoggon - if he was eating foi gras by the bucket load then heading down the gym to run full pelt for an hour or two and lift the heaviest weights he could possibly lift then yes, he probably was risking his health. If he was eating a balanced varied diet - but rather a lot of it - but exercising hard but sensibly so his calorie expenditure exceeded his calorie consumption then no, he wasnt.

Buda · 14/01/2011 15:53

Hi all

Well done on losses - esp justaminute. Fab loss!

Well I am down .2 of a kilo! Not surprised and not disappointed. Am not quite back in zone yet but feel that I have gotten my head around it a bit this week. Have been bad today so am going to continue and order curry for dinner as cannot sodding well decide what to cook!

Then I will start again tomorrow. DH and DS will go to football and I will sit down and plan my food for the week properly. I will zone for the weekend. And I will do lots of cardio.

Cyb · 14/01/2011 19:27

I like that Mindful eating, not mindless

noddyholder · 14/01/2011 20:21

I am going to have to start tomorrow too!Fish chips mushy peas and half a bottle of pinot AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 09:31

noddyholder, i watched hughs fish fight on 4 on demand on thursday and i was craving fish and chips from the chippy! hope yours were nice.

oh i have ordered a wedding dress from little woods to try on gettng it in an 18 to see how the sizing is and jugde how much i have to lose to be a smaller size.

Shaxx · 15/01/2011 11:13

Cyb I have broken free of the crap at work. Once you say no a few times, it gets easier honest!
I would've been in real trouble if I hadn't as there are always cakes at work (worse than biscuits!)
If you find it really hard because its a habit, substitute it with something else like fruit or a go-ahead type biscuit instead.

Gabby I think 4hrs every day working hard at the gym is a bit mad. Its a bit obsessive and it sounds like it wouldn't be very good for you but I'm no expert!

How exciting about your dress thinbride! Bet you can't wait to see it.

I've been a bit of a biffer Blush
I was so tired yesterday due to bad night that I had a few pick me ups (2xpenguins, 2x walkers crisps) and I had some apple crumble and custard in the evening.
This morning, I've had porridge then scoffed 3 slices of toast with butter and marmite. Gah!
I though I'd write it down so I can't pretend it never happened.
I'm eating lots of fruit and soup for the rest of the day and then a low cal dinner to get me back on track.

Hope everyone else is having a better day!

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 14:14

quick someone save me just had a bscuit binge argggggggggggg!

Shaxx · 15/01/2011 14:47

Noooooo! Think of your wedding dress!!
Slim and slinky not bulging :)

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 14:52

omg omg

ok situation has been turned around, just drank a pint of water and feel really bloated now!

I have just marked off all my extra points for the week to make up for the binge!

Why oh why did i do it? im friggin raging at myself!

Shaxx · 15/01/2011 15:01

Sorry! I misread your post. I thought it said save me from a biscuit binge!

Don't worry. How many do you think you ate?
It wont have undone your diet and sometimes a binge is good to set your metabilsm off again.
Just carry on as you were before and try and get some exercise in the next few days and you'll be fine.

Shaxx · 15/01/2011 15:03

Eat fat free yoghurt every day too to get rid of fat from your food (thats what it said in that tv programme)

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 15:11

will have a couple of table spoons of fat free yog to flush the fat out!!!!!

Gahhhh im so cross with myself.

and my "i"is not working properly.

justaminute · 15/01/2011 17:05

thinbride - you are not alone, put it behind you and move on. I went a bit crazy yesterday, I think the loss went to my head. Chocolate, oookies, sweets, wine & beer were all consumed. why, oh why do I undo all my good work by rewarding myself with bad stuff Angry? Thankfully today has been better, I'm back in the zone.

Cyb, I'm trying the mindful eating - thinking about portion sizes, making the right choices but allowing myself a daily small treat - biscuit, small bun, glass of wine or chocolate - the thinking was that if I didn't emliminate ALL the bad stuff I wouldn't have a blow out - sadly that theory went a bit tits up yesterday Blush. I'm also trying to Shred 5 times a week.

iluv, where are you off skiing? You should get shredding - all those squats will strengthen your thigh muscles ready for the slopes. Dh is off at the end of the month (with the lads) to Austria. I'm being a dutiful wifey and staying home with the dcs. I'd love to go but the prices for all 4 of us to go at half term are Shock. He'd better bring me home a good present Smile

noddyholder · 15/01/2011 19:27

i know it sounds like a miracle but yoghurt does not flush fat out Grin

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 15/01/2011 19:38

i know that, but low fat dairy mixes with the fat and forms a paste that is un digesable, while i dont for one min think it flushes out all of my fat but it will help with some on it! it was on the programme on the iplayer!

noddyholder · 15/01/2011 20:25
Grin
thedogwalker · 16/01/2011 13:46

I haven't seen the programme and because I live abroad I cannot access the iplayer. But surely the low fat yoghurt doesn't get rid of stored fat Confused, does it just help to get rid of any fat you consume within the same meal????

I have just shred, feel much better for doing so. Going to make a real effort this week to do it everyday, as I don't want to sts again. Plus going walking with the dog and pram each day will hopefully help.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Thinbride, one mishap won't ruin it for you, just think of your next ww weigh in and imagine yourself with a good weight loss, think positive and things will be positive.

Take care all xx

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 16/01/2011 14:03

That's right dogwalker - a little bit of fat (not carte blanche to eat loads) helps bind the molecules of the food you consume in that meal which helps you expel it. Sadly its not a miracle cure - but does explain why diets like Atkins with quite a lot of fat in it can see such results I guess.

Thinbride - draw a line under the biffage, use that shred dvd as penance. You'll feel much more virtuous for it.

Justaminute - draw a line under the biffage. I think the everything in moderation is a good approach to take and I'm a great fan of the daily small treat approach (its how I persuade myself to do my workouts I dont enjoy so much - like runs) - I know you want to see another good loss next week so back on the straight and narrow now and no biffing missus

thinbridewaitingtogetout · 16/01/2011 14:51

Been very virtuse today and want to shred this afternoon (just ate sunday lunch so need to await digestion), about to pop off to sil so dn can try on her brides maids dress i bought. Need to get motivated to gut this house as its a friggin pig sty!
