Hi RG, shall we have a new thread especially to pre-celebate the success we're going to have this year?Xmas Wink

So after discovering that SW online was £60 and WW was £30 (both for 3 months) I decided a change would suit me and signed up for WW :)

I faced up to the new WW electric scales which were delivered last week and the total was what I expected 17.12.5:(
On a positive note, it's less than when I started SW 4 years ago (just). I have spent an hour exploring the website and think I'll be able to survive on my 37 points a day, which is a relief!

Chocolate is my biggest weakness. Curry and booze too but that tends toi be weekend only whereas chocolate is a daily wekness.

So onto tomorrow and the first day. Hope you all have a good day tomorrow too.

happynewRia · 25/01/2011 22:48

these or these? Wink

nope, also shouldn't be drinking wine, what with the headache I had earlier, or zumba in the morning. but I'm past caring. and there's a 50% chance the other mums won't bother.

happynewRia · 25/01/2011 22:52

are you doing this new propoints thing electricslide? is that all they do now, or can you still do "old" WW id you prefer? It always worries me when diet people introduce new plans and completely do away with what they followed before (I quite like "old" WW)

so, can I be arsed to calorie count, and is there a magazine (like "slimmer" or whatever it was in the old days)? I need something to spur me on. Am (already) bored with SW, and not motivated enough for WW...

RGPargy · 25/01/2011 22:58

Fair play re WW electricslide! (that's an interesting name, btw - do tell!). If you've struggled for years with SW then perhaps WW might work better for you? Dont be disheartened re your weight. When i was pg with DD i hit the 20 stone mark and then refused to get on the scales until after DD was born! Blush I'm not that far in front of you and i would just love to get back into the 16 stone bracket right now!

Best of luck for tomorrow! :o

Ria - deffo the second pair! They are quite lush! Even if the other mums dont turn up, you should deffo go along and have some fun, especially if it pisses off the old biddies!! :o

RGPargy · 25/01/2011 22:59

Ria, WW has now (finally) seen the light and introduced the concept of reducing carbs. It really does work when you cut down on carbs but i wonder why it has taken them this long to finally realise it?!

electricslide · 25/01/2011 23:14

Looking at the plan tonight I think once I get going I'll be OK with keeping track. There's a free iPhone app which works as a calculator which is a bonus as mine is glued to my hand these days. I'm going to start this week by being 'good' but having the meals I would normally make and seeing how they work in terms of points. Fruit being free is a plus for me. It looks a bit more fiddly than SW but tbh I think any if them work if your head's right, and having something new gas got me a bit more enthused so can't be bad!

RG, nothing at all to tell re the name. I name changed a few years ago (wasn't a particularly prolific poster, then or now) and fried loads of names that were all gone. Electric slide reminded me of a silky line dance all the kids used to do at a US summer camp I used to work at. Never tried it myself!

happynewRia · 26/01/2011 14:02

Hi all. Am feeling much better today. I almost ducked out of zumbaBlush, but I pulled myself together and went, though I didn't really enjoy it (after the discipline of dance on Tuesday, it's a bit like a free-for-all at a Levellers gigHmm), but my friend stayed on for the class after, and i did too. It's called "Fat Busters", and there's a weigh-in on a swanky machine that can nearly tell you how much your liver weighs, then exercise, then a nutrition talk at the end. I will go back to that class next week, but I think I'll drop zumba and do the 2 classes on a Tuesday instead. I couldn't walk in those shoes BTW, but it would be fun to see their facesWink

Have just had a lovely hot bath, and am going to have lunch and blitz the fridge, and write my shopping list and a rough meal-plan, following no "proper" diet at allGrin

hope you're all having good days.

CherryPie3 · 27/01/2011 10:01

Morning ladies, thank you for the lovely warm welcome :)

Very swish shoes Ria!! I'd be guaranteed a night in A&E if I were to attempt walking (or even standing) in those Grin
How crap that they decided to fill the pool and then tell you!! They've had the entire pregnancy to decide and they tell you when you're in labour and (if you're anything like me) likely to clobber them one!! Grin
I know what you mean about eating at stupid times, my dh often works late and I don't like to eat without him (even though I cook for dd and ds1), usually tends to be around 7 or 8pm, sometimes later. Usually too tired to cook by then, so again usually ends up being something from the take-away menu!!
These habits must change!!

RG The chewing gum sounds like a great idea, I've not actually tried anything yet as my willpower is kind of not fully here at the moment Blush. I will be trying that tho.
Wish I had your motivation to go to the gym, or indeed the time to. Life is busy busy.

I'm not actually a baker by trade (yet) I'm trying to carve a business out for myself tho, probably not the smartest plan for a big girl like me but hey...baking is my thing :).
I've been thinking a lot about this Zumba that lots of people are talking about... I don't whether I'd feel very Blush at trying it, when I'm so big. Might chicken out and buy the dvd Grin

It's my 26th birthday next week and we're all supposed to be going out for a meal like we always do. I want to go to a Chinese buffet meal near me - how good do you think that would be on slimming world eh? lol. I suppose if I don't have too much in the way of curry etc, and stick to noodles and rice...?
Oh I dunno...
I'm gonna go anyway - it's only my birthday once a year isn't it? I'll be good the rest of the time I promise.

Better go and get on with some housework now I suppose...

Toodle Pip ladies, have a lovely day xxx

RGPargy · 28/01/2011 15:41

Hi ladies! :o

How are we all doing this week so far?

I have been going over my calorie limit every day, mostly due to wine but also due to silly food choices throughout the day which leaves me with about 20 calories for my dinner. Not good! Blush I'm worse when i am at work because i am normally soooo bored and not busy! More planning is in order i reckon! Hmm

Electricslide - i have an awesome iphone app too called MyFitnessPal. It's free and it's amazing! There is also an online community so you can log your food online too and ask questions about diet, exercise and whatever else. It really is a great site. :)

Ria - lol @ levellers gig reference! :o Glad you went along, even if you didn't really feel like it.

Cherry - wish i didn't spend so much time at the gym either, but unfortunately (Wink) i have now made a few friends and we get very busy sitting there drinking tea. What's a girl to do! Hmm Wink :o

You should deffo try Zumba if you want to try it! Dont let your weight stop you going - everyone is there for the same reason! I used to feel self-conscious when i went to the gym but now i dont give a flying fig because at the end of the day, i am there to get fit, exercise and lose weight. If people want to stare at me (which they dont - paranoia can play dirty tricks on a vulnerable mind!) then that's their problem. They obviously aren't working out hard enough if they have time to check out my (ample) bum!! :o

I like to think that i am probably alot fitter than some of the skinny minnies that swagger into the gym. I'd like to see them do an hour of step followed by an hour of body pump! :o

If it's your birthday then you should deffo go for it at the chinese meal. I would, anyway. My birthday celebrations have lasted about a week so far. Not good! I have had THREE birthday cakes this year (bought for me, i didn't buy them!) and DP and I have shared pretty much a bottle of wine every night for the past week! Blush Getting back into it from Monday tho - honest!

Any plans for the weekend anyone?

No plans this end i'm afraid. Boring!

happynewRia · 28/01/2011 17:43

Gah, after my Wednesday enthusiasm and fridge blitz, I seem to have buggered it up (again). I was SO hungry yesterday... though I didn't have any wine Shock. Today I am having wine (what time is the old sun/yard arm collision?) Haven't made good food choices today either, but I will have to pull myself together over the weekend or I'll be hanging my head in shame at fat fighters on Wednesday.

Village jumble sale tomorrow, that's the highlight of my weekend! Oh, and I start my OU course tomorrow, I suppose that's pretty important. (am sure it's too late to change my mind now...)

Have been shopping with my big sis today (and we had lunch, but we won't dwell on thatWink). The pharmacist in Boots thought she was DS3s Grandma, rather than his favourite Aunty. I am mortified for her (but secretly feeling I must be looking good today) We have a 14 year age gap, but even so. Am just relieved that her 13 year old DD wasn't with us or I might have been "Granny"!!!

I agree about zumba, if you fancy it, try it.

RGPargy · 28/01/2011 23:22

woohoo!! Forgot to say that my friend has booked the Camber weekend at the beginning of March!! Yay!! So excited!! :o

However, it is slightly tainted because one of the girls who came in November isn't going to be coming with us this time around. When my friend booked it, no one had heard from the girl since before Christmas and as the event was almost sold out, my other friend just went ahead and booked it. So i mentioned camber in my FB status and this lead to the girl texting my friend asking why she had the hump with her! Honestly! If you dont contact anyone about it, how are they supposed to know you want to go?! Whereas me, i have been frequently asking about camber since before Christmas so it's blatently obvious that i want to go (although i see my friend a few times a week anyway).

Oh well, friendships can be complex.... Hmm

happynewRia · 29/01/2011 22:27

gah! people!!!

electricslide · 01/02/2011 21:43

I had my first weigh in tonight (WW online). Considering I was at 2 40ths (one in a curry house Confused) I'm pleased to have lost 2lbs :)

RGPargy · 02/02/2011 20:23

Well done Electricslide!! Any loss is a great loss!! :o

happynewRia · 03/02/2011 09:45

well done electricslide.

I am ill again (throat/ears/swollen face this time), so have ducked out of dance and gym this week. I JUST WANT TO BE HEALTHY!!!

am going to GP tomorrow so hopefully will get sorted out and on the mend.

my parents are now caught up in the cyclone in Oz, I believe their tour operator bussed them out of the place they were in to safety just in time, but they won't be staying on the island on the barrier reef nowSad. will be so much more relaxewd when they get to NZ.

CherryPie3 · 04/02/2011 09:25

Hi everyone, I'm sorry I've not been around much but I've had/am having a difficult time of it lately. My diet has gone out of the window Blush for now. DH was taken into ospital on Tuesday afternoon with a very severe flare-up of his Crohn's disease. :( He's so poorly bless him. Had a scare last night as his temperature went up and his pulse was racing, no-one knows why. :(. Wish he was home and healthy.
It was my birthday on Wednesday too (the chinese restaurant buffet meal didn't happen, but the chinese take-away did Blush). I have zero motivation to do anything right now, I'm exhausted cos I can't sleep through worrying about my dh, the docs have said the earliest he can come home is Monday - and thats only if things have settled down. :(

Sorry to be deperessing on your thread, just a lot going on :)

Congrastulations on your weigh loss electricslide!! Fab result, espesh with two 40th's to attend :):)

Ria How scary for your parents, hope they reach a sfer NZ very soon!! And I hope you feel better hun xx

RG Shock at the boots lady Grin. How did your sister take it? x

Will try to post again soon ladies xx

happynewRia · 04/02/2011 19:46

Sad cherry pie, I hope your DH is better very soon, and I hope you don't stress yourself out too much in the meantime. Take care of yourself ready for when he gets home!

I was very relieved to talk to my parents last night, currently in a very swanky hotel in Brisbane, flying to Cairns tomorrow to continue their tour. A bit disappointed they missed out on the island on the Barrier Reef, but happier to be safe and well. Only 3 weeks til they get home. I won't have lost 2 stone (again). Mum was mildy amused by my sister being mistaken for her, but nfortunately I let it slip that Dsis is signed off work again (I forgot I wasn't meant to say, and also thought she would have told them herself given the situation).

Have to confess to having been to the GP today and am now on ADsSad. Really hoping that a) they work this time, and quickly. and b) I get the "decreased appetite" side-effect rather than "suicidal thoughts" and "weight gain"...

RG, your FB statuses are looking pretty good. Well done you. Camber must have been really good last timeSmile

Riapwhatyousow · 09/02/2011 22:18

just checking in as I weighed in at FF 5lb less than 2 weeks ago this morningSmile. Now to build up momentumHmm

RGPargy · 10/02/2011 11:48

Hi everyone!

Ria - glad your parents are safe and well. You must be very relieved! Sorry to hear you are on ADs. I hope you get the "right" side effects on them! Wink Look after yourself Ria.

Cherry - So sorry to hear about your DH. How worrying!! I hope he's on the mend and back home now?

Oh and The boots incident was Ria's drama, not mine Wink :o

Phew! What a rubbish couple of days I've had!

So far this week i have:

  • Had a white filling (ouch on the bank balance!)

  • The car has broken down and is currently abanadoned near our local petrol station

  • I think our moggy will have to be put to sleep (she has asthma and is really struggling to breathe)

  • and now i have a migraine coming (which is VERY rare for me!).

On the plus side, i have lost 3lbs this week and in the last couple of weeks i have lost 1 inch off my waist and 1.5 inches off my hips! :o

Dont think i'll be getting to my 14lb Camber goal tho.... I knew it was a tall order! Hmm

Have a good day all! :)

Riapwhatyousow · 11/02/2011 00:22

Wine - for you RGWink

RGPargy · 13/02/2011 00:03

Thanx Ria. I well and truly needed that!!

Riapwhatyousow · 14/02/2011 20:36

pah, am disappointed to have weighed in with a stay-the-same at fat fighters this morning. we did gym circuits today as the sports hall was in use, but today was the only day they could do the class this week. No class now til the first Weds of March. Fingers crossed for a good loss then.

In honour of valentines day I am partaking of Wine. DH is working, and then playing pool, which is a bit annoying as I have steak (and lamb chops for DH) but I won't bother cook it just for me. wish I had a microwave curry!Blush

RGPargy · 20/02/2011 16:45

Hi Ria

How's things going? What did you have for dinner in the end?

Put on 2lb last week but it was TOM so i'm not overly bothered......

Riapwhatyousow · 01/03/2011 21:16

Hi RG. Sorry for deserting the thread, I have really lost interest in the interweb just recently.Shock struggling along on my meds, and very much yo-yo-ingBlushAm trying to convince myself that FF class tomorrow is a "feel the fear and do it anyway" situationHmm

How are you doing?

Riapwhatyousow · 02/03/2011 22:31

oh well, as expected I had a gain... am indulging now (as I ache like hell from the exercises this morning!) Wine, but am raring to go... tomorrowWink
