Hi RG, shall we have a new thread especially to pre-celebate the success we're going to have this year?Xmas Wink

Ria, I need to lose 5.2 stones to get a "normal range" BMI Blush And well done on the loss (saw it on MFP), it's a nice start to the week! Hope you feel OK on the new meds too.

I'm now on water/black tea/black coffee only until after the blood tests tomorrow. At least because they are "screening" type tests I'll get results straight away so no worrying for days afterwards.

I got a couple of books form the library at the weekend to help me. Pilates for weight loss and Personnal Trainer for Women. So hoping to get inspired to do a bit moe exercise, or at least plan it a bit more strategically rather than "mmm, what can I be bothered to do tonight?"

Are they Harry Potter smileys???

cowboylover · 11/07/2011 22:40

Yeh think they are for Harry Potter, last film out this week.

Hope you feel ok with the medication change, I found it a nervous time to get the balance right.

Rammy, I know what you mean about the what can I be bothered to do, thinking about getting a game for the kinnect but will I ever find the time bother to do it!

Trying to reduce temptation and plan ahead this week and see what I should get for the food shopping.

Jammyrella · 12/07/2011 20:00

Having the "right" things in really does help cowboy lover. And being realistic - there's no point in having a tonne of fresh healthy stuff in if you know that you're gong to think "naaah, can't be arsed" and get a pizza instead! (Not saying you would of course, just an example). Much better IMO to be pragmatic and face it that yes, you'll want easy peasy dinners X nights this week and plan them to be as healthy as you can. Then at least when you CBA you have a relatively healthy easy option to hand instead of having to get in an emergency take away or whatever.

Beans on toast is surprisingly good as well as being super easy. Ditto beans and a bakie. Pizza express now have at least one lower calorie pizza in the supermarkets. And with a bit mre effort the world is your oyster of course.

Blood tests were fine - cholesterol was low Shock and glucose and BP was high end of normal, but yes normal ShockShock. So I'm off for a swim soon to celebrate :o

RGPargy · 14/07/2011 16:50

Hi everyone

Haven't abandoned you - just not been posting much on MN lately!

Ria - it's a bugger re your BMI isn't it. I think mine will still say morbidly obese, but on the other hand i have heard that BMI is a load of b*llocks anyway! :o

Will catch up later when i'm home. Off to get my train in a min.

Have a nice rest of the day everyone! :o

Riasdragonflytattoo · 14/07/2011 18:35

it's difficult to be everywhere isn't it RG? I actually forgot about MN for a while Blush, you're doing fab anywaySmile

your post has made me Blush jammy. I have a fridge full of the right things, and have been to Tesco for crisps and pizza this afternoon in a fit of CBA and probably BU. (Had to take DS3 to his reception taster session this afternoon - he didn't go to nursery this morning as he was so tired from the beach trip yesterday, I took time off work could get used to it , so I took him up to school at 1.15, and apparently it's my fault he screamed and tried to run away because I gave him a kiss before he went inConfused. Our school have staff who really know how to push my buttons!Angry)

Started my day so well too, with a healthy cooked breakfast, but it filled me up so much I didn't want lunch, which is probably where I went wrong. back to toast and fruit tomorrow!

cowboylover - which method are you following?

There is a swimming pool just opened about 5 mins drive from here. I am tempted as I went to our Opticians yesterday. He was in the back room munching muesli and banana and he said he had started swimming every morning (I'm sure he said last Sunday) and had given up the booze, and he looks like a different bloke already. He said he had much more enthusiasm for the day too. It's bad timing for starting anything that's just for me though, as the kids all finish for summer next week, then it will be all about them and their mealtimes!

Jammyrella · 14/07/2011 20:40

Now it's m turn to be Blush Ria. There's a cake sale at school tomorrow, so DD and I made biscuits and flapjaks this afternoon. I tried a biscuit (well, you have to!) and it was so good I hd another 2 (and they are not small) and then the flap jacks fell to bits so I scoffed a load of bits of those too Blush. I did feel sick afterwards, and very very guilty. So I pushed myself to do an exercise session this evening even though I was very much in a CBA mood. Only burned aout hald the calories scoffed, but better than nothing, and hopefully I have learned a lesson, but then again who m I kidding? AH well, we all have weak moments and at least I feel too full still to actually want mcuh tea, so the calorie count may end up even at the end of the day, it's just hte nutritional value may be lacking somewhat.

I love early morning swimming Ria. If DH was more of a morning person I'd go once or twice a week, but he's not so I have to be about to get DD ready for pre-school. Can you get DH or your DSis or DMum to look after your DSs for a bit? Even if it was just for 45 mins - that would give you 5 mins each way travel, 10 mins change each end, and a 20 minute swim.

Riasdragonflytattoo · 14/07/2011 22:02

I aren't really a morning person TBH, and I worry that if I did swimming or whatever exercise (on the prozac I was waking at 5am every day, and was wondering about getting up and walking then) in the morning, I would be in need of a sleep by lunchtime! There isn't any reason that DH couldnt have the boys while I went, but he can be a bit of an arse in the mornings if he has had a busy/late night at workHmm. I think I shall look into times and prices though, because during the holidays, so long as DH is in the house, there's no reason DS1 can't be in charge of the TV remote and pouring milk to drink just for an hour! And once I give up buying junk food, wine and chocolate, I'm sure I can justify the expense!

good news on your tests Jammy. well done your body for being healthySmile

Riasdragonflytattoo · 16/07/2011 17:12

new meds making me feel lousySad

and DS1 hates me because I've told him he can't camp at his mates tonight as it's been raining all day, and I don't approve of there being 2 girls in the group. Hey ho, the trials of bing a parentHmm

cowboylover · 19/07/2011 11:35

True assumptions of course! I ran out of milk so had 6 cookies for breakfast then was wanting sugar all day and hungry!

I'm not really following a method just doing what I know I should have been doing all along, maybe I should.

The joys of children,my DD is 7 weeks old and got my head in the sand that she is ever going to answer back or do anything but look cute!

RGPargy · 19/07/2011 22:45

Hello and welcome Cowboylover!

No loss for me this week - i'm convinced it's probably because of TOM and because of the 4 pints of cider i had over the weekend..... Blush

How are you getting on with the new meds now Ria? Are you feeling any better?

I dont think i'd want my DCs camping out on really damp ground either so i dont think you are being unreasonable in the circumstances.

Cowboy - 6 cookies?? Oh dear!! :o It's no wonder you were feeling hungry and craving sugar for the rest of the day tho! When you think about the amount of calories in those cookies, you could probably have had so much more "good" food for your calories. I'm sure you probably know all this anyway, but deffo when using My Fitness Pal, it makes me think twice before i "spend" my calories on high cal/high carb food! What day are you weighing in?

Riasdragonflytattoo · 20/07/2011 13:54

I seem to have gained this week. Am panicking and hoping it's not due to the ADs.
cleaning for the holiday at the weekend today as DH and DS1 and DS3 are out at a country show. Have hurt my fingers badly on the sofa springs, and am struggling to type with 2 dressings and a rubber glove (pinched from work).

RGPargy · 21/07/2011 10:04

Dont panic Ria!! I'm sure it's nothing sinister. Ouchy re your fingers! Hope they get better soon!

Riasdragonflytattoo · 21/07/2011 18:07

caught sight of my reflection todaySadBlush Have been and bought lots of fruit to pack up and take on holiday. If I gain over the next week it is the ADs (no chance of a late night takeaway with DM aboutWink) so will deal with it when I get back, but hopefully will have a loss. Back on plan tomorrow.

brodyboo · 21/07/2011 20:43

Hi another newbie here waves shyley Have got 5-6 stones to lose, but to be honest would just like to be able to pull my knicks down without them getting stuck in the outcrops at the top of my thighs!! Started a vlcd on tuesday, am such a pig thought completely removing food from the equasion might help. Apologies for any grammer/spelling mistakes, have lurked on mumsnet for ages, always to scared to post in case I made an idiot of myself. (not that anyone knows who I am. Idiot!)

Riasdragonflytattoo · 21/07/2011 21:08

hi brody. welcome. what is a vdcl (or whatever you put?)?

brodyboo · 21/07/2011 21:54

Its a very low calorie diet, think Lighter life, Cambridge, that sort of thing. Im doing one called exante, a shake, soup and a bar a day. Am actually amazed I got to the end of day 3, but its not been too bad.

Riasdragonflytattoo · 21/07/2011 22:40

thanks for that. how long do you do that for? I struggle with the Rosemary Conley 2 week kick startBlush I think it's 1,200 or thereabouts per day. was impressed by Pauline Quirke's progress in Woman last week (I only bought it cos it said she'd lost weight on the coverBlush)

brodyboo · 22/07/2011 09:26

Ria, thats the article that got me on to this! Looked at Lighter Life but it was too expensive, ( 72 pound a week compared to 25 for exante)
Exante is completly online, no counselling or meetings so that keeps the cost down. Plan to do total plan, no food only their products 3 times daily, for a month then introduce low carb food gradually.
Day 4 today and already noticed a change in body shape, prob losing water retained by carbs but my stomach is def flatter. Hopefully this will give me a good kickstart to get back on track.

RGPargy · 22/07/2011 16:38

Hi Brody and welcome! :o Good luck with your weight loss. You must be exceptionally strong willed to be able to do that kind of eating plan! Fair play! :o

RGPargy · 22/07/2011 16:39

Ria - enjoy your holiday! :o

brodyboo · 22/07/2011 19:29

Hi Rg and thanks for the welcome :) Its a bit weird because normally I have no willpower around food (hence where I am today!!) but I turned 30 earlier this year and really dont want to spend my thirties as I am.

I dont think its a particularly healthy way to drop weight, especially long term, but am hoping it can give me a quick boost and the complete break from food will help me to make better choices when I start eating again.
(Very hopefull! I would sell one of my children for a bottle of wine right now!)

RGPargy · 24/07/2011 23:28

Hi Brody - hope it gives you the boost you need!

I've been bad this weekend with lots of booze and a pub meal but am back on the wagon tomorrow, which is a relief! I'm feeling all puffy and windy lol!

RGPargy · 29/07/2011 12:14

Just bookmarking :)

Riasdragonflytattoo · 30/07/2011 22:35

hi guys. back from hols... probably heavier! DM was watching everything I ate like a hawk to begin with (as was I, but DM is more forcefulHmm), then she was badgering me for eating too much fruit (Hmm wasn't the fruit, it was the ice cream that made me ill), then yesterday it was fish and chips (very yummy, but I had less than half a small portion as I know what happensBlush - damage limitation), and today DF bought us McD's for tea on the way home... I tried, honest!

RGPargy · 05/08/2011 22:12

Hi everyone!

Ria - it doesn't sound tooooo bad! How have you been lately?
