1001 replies

NormaSknockers · 30/12/2010 10:18

Welcome one and all - if you're following the new WW ProPoints plan then this is the thread for you!

Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

Good goals Norma and Lucky. They sound sensible and very achievable. Imagine how you'll feel as you reach each one!

I did relatively well last night and really didn't over-eat. In fact, I had three mouthfuls of chocolate pudding and then left the rest. I was very impressed with myself.

I had 2 small glasses of wine and then drank lots of water.

Altogether, 2010 was an excellent year for me. A new job, moved into a new house after 8 months of building work, lost nearly 2 stone..... 2011 will be even better! Smile

Lucky2010 · 01/01/2011 12:10

LOl androbbob at my 'dated' name....I have considered it, but I don't like 2011 as much as 2010....something to do with my OCD and liking even numbers Grin.

NormaSknockers · 01/01/2011 12:25

How about LuckyNewYear? Grin

Damn those peanuts androbb I couldn't have stayed away from them either, I love the blooming things. When I was very little I used to suck the salt off then put them back in the bowl Blush Grin No-one ever seemed to question why they were saltless Hmm Have you got any goals you want to reach?

Well done on a good night Littlefish especially leaving the rest of the pudding, that's no easy task so well done. That's a really fantastic step, so is the not over-eating. It's the small changes like that, that make long term differences Grin

You are all very inspiring and motivating - thanks.:) I am in.

2010 was the year of 'trying things', unforunately all that'Beyond Chocolate book', 'Eating Less seminar' and hypnotheraphy loss me was money...I weigh more now than I did at the start of them all!

WW works, it has before, it will again. I want to try for another baby at a much lower weight than this. I am aiming for 3 stone off, which isn't the end of the story, but I want to try to time the baby etc

Even did my new Tracy Anderson DVDs this am! Have decided that DVDs are the most realistic way for me to exercise.

Will go to a WW meeting on Wed.

Good luck all

lobsters · 01/01/2011 13:53

Hello, I know I'm a bit late, but can I join you. I joined WW at the beginning of December, my aim is to the lose 3 stones, with at least 2 gone by July. First mini step is get rid of the Xmas gain in 2 weeks.

I like the idea above of trying a new receipe every 2 weeks, I might try that one.

Although first issue is to get through DD's birthday next weekend without eating too much cake

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 01/01/2011 14:03

Happy New Year everyone and welcome to newcomers.

All a bit hectic last couple of days. Am just getting lunch down me after walking the dog and have people arriving very soon . Will catch up with the thread properly later or tomorrow if I overdo the Bailey's !

boodleboot · 01/01/2011 17:08

Happy new year all.....how exciting!

Difficult for me to set mini goals until my official weigh in but strangely my home scales have been putting me at the same as i was my last weigh in....hmm tres bizarre. Will be amazed if it has all levelled out and i have remained the same as before xmas but will have to wait til next sat for an official weigh in tho. Wink

have awful headache today so not risked started my 30 day shred. will prob start tomorr so as to end on 31st jan...actually that is one of my mini goals! Complete the shred....

Has anyone made the celeriac and apple soup recipe before?

LuckyLight · 01/01/2011 18:44

How about this then??? Tried DietLucky but thought i would go a bit european and try LuckyLight, as in 'the diet version'....Grin.

Boodleboot Tell me about Shred...is the idea that you do it everyday??? Furball very kindly sent me her DVD, I haven't been well enough to try it since it arrived. I am dying to get started. I've done a bit of the old home exercise DVD a lot in the past, mainly when DDs were babies, as like watersign76, at the time it was the only way I could exercise.

Still feeling pants. Throat feels so raw. Had DH's cousin and family for the day today. I couldn't not talk, but now I am paying for it!!! I can't wait to feel better soon and get back to the gym.

Welcome newbies. I just convinced DH's cousin's wife to give propoints a go. Her DS is 2.5 yrs and she is struggling to lose the last 5kg of her pre-pregnancy weight. I was in my element telling her all about it and how well it had worked for me Grin. She's very motivated. I will hopefully support her too, they live 2 hrs away but I can email/text her with support.

So, did everyone stay on track today or go over? I was quite good, had bit too much fresh bread with hot lunch, which added 20 pps to what I had eaten, so I went 20 pps over...so annoying, if I hadn't eaten it I'd be within points. I'm going to start my week from today and just deduct from weekly allowance.

Lucky xxx

LuckyLight · 01/01/2011 19:31

Ooo, just looked up bread on Tesco website and not as bad as I thought afterall, 10 pps on bread, not 20 Grin.

vnmum · 01/01/2011 20:06

hi everyone,
just back from DB and the buffet. well, there was no veg sticks or healthy stuff in sight. it was cheese and crackers, roast ham joint and roast chicken(both of these had to feed 12 so i couldn't eat too much),indian selection, sausages, sausage rolls, cheese bites etc. so i just ate till i was full which to be honest wasn't as much as i would have eaten last year at this type of buffet. I didn't touch the pringles norma but i did succumb to a wedge of profiterole gateaux Blush although i didn't have seconds of the puddings when usually you would have to pry me from the table.

boodle i am starting the shred tomorrow. i am looking forward to it for the results but hesitant because i know from last time i did it how i will suffer.

My goals for 2011 are:

  1. reach 10% (5lb to go i think)
  2. complete 30 day shred (for full 30 days)
  3. get to WW goal (at top end of BMI so i don't have to pay anymore) by the time i move house in mid feb
  4. get to my goal in 2011 ( not quite sure what my goal is yet as i won't know until how i look then decide then if i've lost enough)
muffinchops · 01/01/2011 21:30

Hello lovely ladies. Great new thread and so wonderful to have lots of newbies too. Welcome!

Wynken -sooooo impressed with a loss over Xmas and agree that you should be flushed with pride too and not embarrassed at your meeting.

Have been having a bit of a Lucky few days too where have experienced the comedown from Xmas, feeling shattered and have sought solace in all things evil. I too am trying to get over an all or nothing mindset. Soooo peeved as was relatively good Xmas day etc but it's zoomed downhill since then. Am so annoyed with myself. Feel so bloated too pre-period and too many treats.

Will face the truth on Tues at the WI and then hopefully the only way is up (or should I say, down)!

I too have the Shred and am starting it tomorrow vnmum and boodle.

Ladies, sounds like we've all tried over Xmas but it has been incredibly difficult so c'mon let's crack it in 2011. We have a good run to the summer now.

My dh is planning a party for his big 40 in June so I'm using that as a goal to get to goal and to get a fantastic dress (hopefully).

LuckyLight · 01/01/2011 21:50

vnmum Tell me more about the BMI thing and not having to pay....??? I was planning on cancelling my WW subscription in Feb as I'm quietly confident I will have reached goal by then, and tbh, I don't really have a spare £20 a month to pay out once I am at goal. My plan is to keep doing it and weigh myself at home once a week. I have done this for years pretty successfully. I am blessed with good motivation and will power (apart from Christmas!!).
Don't worry about the buffet, you did the best you could I must admit, I hate those situations, when you are motivated and trying really hard and you end up in a situation where you are 'forced' to eat crap you don't really wanna eat. You did well considering Smile.

muffinchops Sorry to hear you are feeling a bot crappy. I know exactly how you feel. With the help of this thread, I managed to turn it around this weekend. As you know, I was planning to start again Monday. Norma and you guys all made me think again, and I decided to start being good again on 30th Dec. I feel sooooooooooooo much better!! i can highly recommend forcing yourself to be good again, the mental satisfaction is far greater than any physical satisfaction of eating 'rubbish'. I feel so much better already too, physically, less bloated etc.
Don't be annoyed with yourself. Just draw a line under it and start afresh Grin.

I'll be joining you ladies on the Shred once I feel better.

Excuse the multiple posts tonight, throat so sore I can't talk.....!! DH and I have caught up on some Sky Plus....The Event....anyone watching it?? He's now watching something I don't watch so I'm sat here on the laptop like a saddo!!!!

DH just had 2 bags of crisps, cheese and biscuits, and beer. I had a big bowl of melon and grapes, a banana, and a WW rich toffee bar....yummy!!

Lucky X

Littlefish · 01/01/2011 22:10

Lucky - once you are at goal, you don't need to pay to be weighed etc. as long as you stay within (I think), 5lbs of your goal weight.

What's this "Shred" thing you're talking about?

androbbob · 01/01/2011 22:11

Lucky - liking the European name - perfect!

littlefish - great willpower re the choc pudding - I am afraid I would have finished it unless it was too rich? I too am knocking back the water today to rehydrate myself and try to flush out this cold!

norma - I am aiming for my mini goals of lose 5lbs by 17 Jan (diabetic appt with nurse) and bring that up to 7lbs by early Feb for friends birthday party. After that I am going to acheive my lowest weight for over 9 years (nearly 10 if you count pregnancy!) of being lower than 12 stone 2lbs! If I can get there by the start of the summer (should we have one!) then I will be estatic!

vnmum - well done for being restrained at the buffet! Good goals - how many pounds until you get to your first (dont have to pay) goal? That would be great not having to pay WW any more money!

muffin - good luck with getting to goal by May - sure it is acheivable!

Welcome to *watersign, lobsters and anyone else who has slipped in unnoticed by me!

Had an okday day today - stir fry for tea with some ham, chinese sauce and some fresh egg noodles. I was quite surprised by those - a quarter of the pack (so 100g) was 4 PP and I would usually use the whole bag between three of us (DD having a smaller portion!). I got my sacales out and weighed out my portion onto my plate and the whole filling meal was 7PP - which I think was ok for a tea! I am going to the gym by my Mums tomorrow as ours is shut until tuesday so the kids can be looked after and will be taking the rest of the stir fry and noodles with me. Off to friends in the afternoon so need to keep the points down tomorrow.

I also have a fridge full of nearly out of date yoghurts as well - both full fat 6PP ones and fat free 2PP ones. So I have been diluting them with milk as a smoothie for breakfasts - fast and easy! I dont like to waste food (probably why I am so big Grin) and dont mind yogs a couple of days out of date, but as we have been out at other peoples houses this last week and me not at work, I forget to eat them! Better than a bar of chocolate though even if the full fat ons are similar points!

LuckyLight · 01/01/2011 22:16

Thanks littlefish, but who decides my goal?? If it's the leader, what if her goal is less than mine? I want to be 9st 12 lbs, which is my 10% goal. I think my 'healthy' BMI starts at soemthing ridiculous (for me) like 8 St 8lbs. There is no way I want to be that thin. I like being curvy, and DH likes me curvy (good job too..!).
I know this sounds like a cliche, but I genuinely think I am 'heavy boned'....LOL!!! When I was 11 and 1/2 stone, I was still a bigger size 12, occasionally a 14. Most of my friends who were size 12s were nearer 10 stone. I think I weigh more than I look, IYSWIM, so for me to be 8 stone something, I would prob be a size 8, and I don't wanna be a size 8.

Sorry, ramble....

Shred is a DVD workout to do at home. I think the idea being that you'shred' lbs...Grin.

mummyosaurus · 01/01/2011 22:16

I am joining up on Friday, having done Slimming world for about 2 years with limited success.

LuckyLight · 01/01/2011 22:19

androbbob I am currently eating yog dated 23 dec Blush.

How about you tell all the lovely newbies how much our thread lost in weight on propoints at the end of last year? That will surely give them some motivation!!

lobsters · 01/01/2011 22:39

Well I did go over the daily points today, mainly due to DH doing roast potatoes with dinner which I hadn't been expecting, this evening I'm drinking water and eating a satsuma, which makes a change from the wine and chocolate of the last two weeks, and I've just done 30 mins of Just Dance on the Wii, I'm thinking of ordering Just Dance 2 as the music looks better, I only have limited time to exercise

dachshundfan · 01/01/2011 23:08

it's great to read how motivated you all are - and that the pro points plan works. I did ww a while ago when it was the old points system & i haven't really got my head round the new ones. Anyway 1 point over today and 1 point over yesterday which seem to have come out of my weekly pro points. Anyway, battle of the evening won as just had rubbish business meeting which would normally have me reaching for the cheese/biscuits/chocolate/whatever and I had an orange instead Smile.
Well done everyone on another step closer.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 02/01/2011 08:07

Good morning everyone ! really sorry but am failing miserably to catch up with the last couple of days ad there are so many posts which is great. I'm sat on backside in bed with my morning cuppa waiting for my mushrooms and tomatoes to cook. Am having them with 2 crumpets and a scrambled egg which I think will get me lots of green points on my tracker, have decided to take some notice of them.

Survived friends round yesterday afternoon with one glass of bubbly they kindly brought, a mince pie and satsuma. Then chicken stirfry for tea follwed by Whispa and hot choc. Will look at the fresh egg noodles Androbob, they sound better value, thanks for the tip.

Got round to updating my weight loss on the tracker and found I lost a daily point for my efforts. Targets for me are :

2.5 stone - need to lose 0.5lbs
Go down a number - 4 lbs
3 stone - 7.5lb
3.5 stone which is half way mark for me -14.5lbs which I would like to have done by end of March.

Bumped into friend walking dog yesterday. Plog was racing ahead as usual, friend said she had recognised dog but not owner and had I lost more weight. Another friend was over the other day and said my legs are shrinking. Am loving the comments as being so big they have been a long time in coming.

Dachsund and Lobsters, weekly points are great and the bit I love! No more feeling you've blown it as gone over your points for the day.

Mummyosauraus I hope you enjoy Propoints. I am a SW member and really like my class for the support but do PP, am on week 6. I like SW but find PO is so much more flexible and I think long term will be easier to stick to.

LuckyLight · 02/01/2011 09:12

Daschshundfan Business meeting at 11pm on 1st Jan???!! Shock.

Well done ladies for making those healthy choices.

Was going to welcome all the newbies by name and was making notes of what you are all called on a rough bit of paper before posting, but got to 10 names and thought - blmmin nora! So a general welcome to all

Happy New Year everyone!

So pleased it's all over. New Years Eve was a big meal with friends and New Years Day a dog walk with other friends plus afterwards a grouped pooled buffet of festive leftovers. All lovely, but heaved a sigh of relief when it was all over. I felt so much better pre-Christmas when eating healthily - slept well, skin was less dry (less alcohol) and had more energy - but during Christmas period felt a listless lethargic lump! Can't wait to detoxify. Last night I bunged left over chocolates, crips and mince pies into dh's car boot and told him to take them into his office on Tuesday.

Looking forward to eating simple fare today - home made soup and casserole.

vnmum · 02/01/2011 12:39

hi everyone,

Lucky if you have a look in your booklets you got at the launch of propoints should have in there about goal weights. As long as you set your goal within your healthy bmi range then WW will declare you a gold member and you don't need to pay anymore to attend meetings, as long as you weigh in 5 times a year and don't go more than 5lbs over your goal weight. you can go anything under the goal as long as you stay in healthy bmi range. for example my healthy range for 5'3" is 8st 1 to 10st 1lb so i have set my goal with the leader as 10st. i will then not have to pay to attend meetings but can still try and get lower, i am thinking 9st 7lb to 9st is what i want to be.

Androbbob i have 12lb to go to get to my 10st goal weight

MadameG · 02/01/2011 13:07

Can someone enlighten me on what a Shred is?!

I still have 18 weekly bonus pro points to use up by Tues. I will def have eaten into a few of those today, am having pasta for dinner tonight with some cheese on top. I cannot resist pasta!

I've got another 14lb to lose before I hit my target. I'm hoping I'll achieve it by spring/ summer.
