Welcome one and all - if you're following the new WW ProPoints plan then this is the thread for you!

Whether you need to lose a little or a lot you'll be right at home, we're friendly, supportive and we're all in the same boat!

androbb is our resident stats checker and helps to track what we've lost as a thread so far, nothing more motivating then seeing just how much weight is coming off.

Feel free to dive in and join us Grin

I am also feeling bright today, especially motivated when I here how Blondes and Sweetheart can prove its all possible. Been swimming with DD this morning and have karate (lol) with DS this evening. Dinner is in the slow cooker, and have swapped mashed potato for mashed carrots. What could possibly go wrong?
Vnmum, hope you feel better soon.

Hi everyone I am thinking about starting weight watchers.

I have heard it works differently now. I remember my mum doing it ages ago and everything had points, even veg and stuff.

Also is there somewhere online where you can quickly check the points value of an item?

nappyaddict · 21/01/2011 15:33

Also is there somewhere online where I can work out how many points I need.

NormaSknockers · 21/01/2011 15:43

nappy you would need to sign up to WW online (a cost is involved) in order to gain access to esource where you can find lists of foods and their points values. ProPoints is still a points system but almost all fruit & veg is now 0 points though there are a few exceptions. If you didn't want to pay for online useage you could buy yourself a calculator and a Shop book, which would cover most things, either through the WW shop or from eBay etc. To work out what points you should be having daily you would again either need the calculator or online access and it goes by weight, height, sex and age.

How do I work it out with a calculator?

I am 10 stone 1
5 foot 3
Female
22

So even if you pay to go to meetings you don't get access to the lists of points values online?

Willabywallaby · 21/01/2011 15:58

Bought my M&S meal, count on us beef stroganoff, used the point calculator online and it's 9 propoints, that means I still have daily ones left for a glass of wine Grin

wizzler · 21/01/2011 16:15

Nappyaddict, I found this on the web and its free. www.calculator.net/weight-watchers-points-calculator.html. Haven't checked it against the proper stuff but it looks about right.
You can pay each time you go to a meeting, and they give you a little book which helps with a lot of the points. You can buy a calculator which does it for you for £10ish.
If you join as a monthly member, you pay less per meeting ( assuming you go to 4 in 4 weeks, and have access to all the online stuff.
If you are thinking of joining, print of one of the vouchers from the WW site, or one from the WW magazine. Hope this helps...

hmc · 21/01/2011 16:45

Your a better woman than me willaby if you can stop at just one glass of wine!

hmc · 21/01/2011 16:53

Just marked my place on the other thread - it is getting busy already.... I might post a few times this evening in a bid to get to 1000 posts for closing the thread

Agree with those of you (sorry can't recall who said what)who feel ready and up for the challenge this time and are confident they will see it through to the end. I am totally 'in the zone' and confident that I will be wearing size 12 by the summer...some friends said today "Now you are size 16 you should go on a shopping spree" (I was size 20 when I started in November) - I surprised them by saying that I'll only buy a few bits and pieces since I don't intend to be in this size for very long!

hmc · 21/01/2011 16:54

I meant closing this thread, not the other (hmc gets tongue tied)

Willabywallaby · 21/01/2011 17:27

hmc I am contemplating a bottle of beer, since there's only one of those on the fridge.

AnyoneForPimms · 21/01/2011 17:30

I've just joined online and have marked my place on the new thread.
Feeling really positive and encouraged by all of you Smile

NormaSknockers · 21/01/2011 18:00

nappy you can't work it out with a normal calculator, I meant a WW calculator sorry.

If you decide to attend meetings then you can opt fot the 'monthly pass' option, that means you get to attend meetings and also have full access to everything online. Or you can sign up purely online which is cheaper but you can't attend meetings.
