Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

Aaaaarrrggghhh!! Just had 3 pieces of shortbread & made DH take the tin away & hide it!!! Xmas Blush I can't handle having all this yummy food in the house! And I have a Xmas hamper coming as part of the prize...and a years supply of sweets!! HELP! I'll end up undoing all my hard work! :( I need some willpower! But feeling a bit low & just want to eat!

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 15/12/2010 21:48

Bebe... It is really hard at the mo isn't it?! I have an endless stream of things to go to. Some are boozy some aren't but I had to make an appearance at 3 coffee mornings this morning. All with cake! Sigh.

Lots of dinners and parties looming which are all great but have a real impact on my weight, or trying to maintain.

What to do Slinks?

bebeinamanger · 15/12/2010 22:09

I'm trying to stick to soups at meal times to try & counter balance the bad in between! Going back to my mums for a few days on Friday, it's going to be really tough, especially since the week before Christmas I wanted to be quite careful.

Still shouldn't be eating ten tonne of shortbread of an evening though! Xmas Blush

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 16/12/2010 07:07

Woooohooooo.
I finish today! DC tomorrow. Lol!!

Out tonight and tomorrow but ( really don't tell anyone) we are at home watching strictly on Saturday and apprentice in Sunday. We just told everyone we were busy !!! Double Lol!

Good idea on the soups Bebe. Are all yours homemade?

Just seen Glasgow on the BBC weather Pretty. Hope it's not too bad again. When do the schools finish?

GettinFestive · 16/12/2010 08:14

Bebe, that is hard. I do the same thing with getting dh to hide things, we had loads of Thornton's chocolates after xmas last year dh stashed them out of harm's way and he ate them Envy

Will you have a vodka and wine head again Piste?

GettinFestive · 16/12/2010 08:16

What do you have with your soups Bebe? Just one slice of bread?

I have a bns, going to roast it with onions and have that for lunch.

bebeinamanger · 16/12/2010 08:52

Morning!! :)

My White Stuff stuff just arrived!! Eeeek! Was still asleep after a rough night! Apologies in advance for typos, I don't have my glasses on!

All soups homemade at the moment, might need to make some to re-stock the freezer! I have made some small bread rolls. Got wholemeal at the momment. So usually have one of those wiyh soup or some ryvita if I don;t have any left!

Need to go get my little monster up back later! :)

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 09:21

Ds off to school no problem, currently raining/sleeting. Rain over night: has helped to wash away some but not all of the ice still lying in the garden and, more of an issue, in our street, which was still covered in ice on both the road and the pavement.

The postie says, "It's a disgrace - the only street that is still in this state in his round".

I had been planning on fasting today till supper time (worked quite well last week) but have realised I can't becasue I need to take the diclofenac 3 times a day after meals :(

Would really like to break the 12 stone barrier by next Friday, but think I am being a bit ambitious Xmas Hmm.

How do the clothes look on bebe?

GettinFestive · 16/12/2010 09:55

Hope the diclofenac is helpful Pretty. My dh has it, he is still hobbling around, has been for past 3 months with trapped nerve/sciatica (sp?)

Take care on your street - I use my walking boots in snow/ice as they have more grip to them. We are forecast snow on the south coast, thank goodness for our bag of rock salt...

Don't forget photo Bebe!

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 10:03

I'm actually not in that much pain: I've been waking up some nights with a sort of vague diffuse pain down the outside of my right thigh and a couple of times only I have had a sharp pain in my hip when walking.

GP is giving me the diclofenac more for its anti-inflammatory attributes - hopefully it has been caught early enough that they should be enough to sort it. He hasn't told me to stop doing the Shred though :)

I've been wearing my desert boots non-stop outside as they have the best grip. It's a pain thugh, 'cos they are really difficult to get on and off Hmm

We have a big plastic trug full of grit: dh keeps it topped up at all times. He knows the location of all the grit bins in the vicinity Grin In fact, yesterday we noticed that the council has taken do just leavng the industrial bad of grit by the side of certain roads, rather than bothering to decant it into bins.

bebeinamanger · 16/12/2010 10:19

Fingers crossed we don't get the snow to early on 2moro (we actually have some forecast!) I'm under strict instructions from my mum & DH that I am not allowed to drive if it's snowing!! Hmm It's been drizzling for quite a few days now so if it does snow/temp drops it'll be slushy/icy, which is probably worse! Confused

Clothes are all fab & all fit! Shock I will take pic (or probably get DH to take one later). I got a tunic & cardigan size 14 (to account for the ample chestage!! Wink) Got one tunic size 16 (the reviews on website said it was snug & to go up a size...they were right) got pair of leggings size 12 (which are actually quite loose & very, very comfortable! :)) Tried on a complete outfit with my Uggs, looks great, I'm really pleased!! :o

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 10:50

Looking forward to seeing the photos :)

After my pessimism of earlier, I am now more hopeful of breaking my 12 stone barrier: I weighed myself after doing the Shred this morning and I was 12 stone 1lb Xmas Shock

I've decided to weigh in early this week Xmas Wink and calim my TWO POUND loss! Xmas Smile

I wasn't going to be able to do the Shred tomorrow morning anyway, as sh and I are going into town for breakfast and Christmas shopping. That's my excuse anyway and I'm sticking to it Xmas Grin

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 17:41

Have just made another 52 mince pies as had run out. Haven't had one yet though - even put back the last one from the previous batch that dh put out for me with some coffee this morning Xmas Smile[polishes halo]

Will be having one or two tonight though while we are decorating the tree. Finally found a sutiable tree on the FOURTH trip out (although to be fair, one of the trips was partly our fault - we drove acorss the city in rush hour without checking whether they had actually got back from Peterhead with fresh trees, so we had to go back again in the morning). It's only an eight footer Xmas Wink (so was only £48 Xmas Hmm) but it is nice and bushy so should look good once it is decorated. It actually looks more like a Noble than a Nordmann Fir. I'll post a picture once we've decorated it.

bebeinamanger · 16/12/2010 18:40

I'm famous! :o Made the MN parenting news, all terribly exciting!

It is trying to snow here, but it has rained on and off all day so it's too wet to stick. Had a hail storm earlier that was like something out of 'The Day After Tomorrow'! Confused Very scary, DD didn't like it at all!

Pretty - Hope the tree fills the space well enough! Xmas Wink

Mulled - Woohoo for finishing! Xmas Grin

Blondes - Have a nice evening, go steady on the cocktails if you haven't been eating!! Xmas Wink

Just been very bad & had a chip shop dinner! Blush Got so much packing etc to do before I go to my mums in the morning I just didn't have time for anything else! Wanted to part load the car tonight but it's so dark & wet I don't think it's an option! (We don't have off street parking & I have to park on the other side of the road!)

Must try & be sensible while away. Otherwise it'll be nothing but ryvita & water for me next week! Xmas Hmm

bebeinamanger · 16/12/2010 18:41

Oh & I iced my Christmas cakes today, I'm very proud of them! Xmas Grin

bebeinamanger · 17/12/2010 06:54

I'm off this morning to my mums! First things first, I sts! Pretty good considering last night's dinner! Xmas Blush

Have put a pic on profile of some new togs! :o New leggings, tunic & cardigan! DD was being 'helpful', so it's the best of a bad bunch!! (DH is not a photographer!!)

Back later when I get back East! Xmas Wink

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 17/12/2010 07:50

I sts too Bebe. I am amazed! And delighted. And a bit Xmas Hmm but it has been so busy I haven't really stopped rushing and I think that has helped.

DC break up at 12 but DS going ice skating with mates and DD shopping with her bunch. So it will really be like normal hours.

Bebe - will you see strictly at your mum's?

Off now to regain control of our home. Decorators nearly done. So hopefully a tree on Sunday.

And am going to look at Bebes pics!

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 17/12/2010 07:53

Am liking the togs Bebe. I have that top but in a slightly different pattern, more purpley. Love the cardi thing too. Good choice!

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 17/12/2010 09:33

I am home alone and I am going to have a bath in the middle of the morning and it's only Friday Xmas Grin

Still it will be good to sort your chops out??!!
( Piste is trying to be upbeat)

bebeinamanger · 17/12/2010 14:32

Whoop! Go Pretty!! Xmas Smile

Had the worst journey getting to mums! (Yes, will be watching strictly 2moro, my mum is a superfan!) No snow/ice at all on the roads (A little in the fields across the Cotswolds, very pretty) Driving out of Bicester the sun behind me & the sky ahead went a dark, inky blue, the temperature dropped almost instantly from +1c to -4c!! Shock Then, out of nowhere, I just seemed to git a wall of white! Full on blizzard! DD was screeching with excitement! It was slow going & then everything stopped & I sat for nearly an hour about 5miles outside of Milton Keynes. (Apparently a lorry had skidded into a bank & 2 lorries had gone into it & a car further on was on it's end in a ditch!) About 2 inches of snow fell in the space of 45mins! But when I got to MK there wasn't even a sprinkling! Hmm Very weird!! Anyway, am here now, safe & sound! :o

We are having Christmas 2moro as I won't be here next weekend! (No point, I wouldn't see my mum at all as she'd be too busy! :()

Had a banana for breakfast. Then half a choc orange lf cereal bar & half a snack-a-jack in the car whilst sat going nowhere! Had some BNS soup when I got here! Goodness knows what I'll have for dinner! Confused

Blondes - glad you are getting your tooth sorted! :)
