Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

GettinFestive · 17/12/2010 15:56

Pretty - very impressed, well done you Xmas Smile Will you be waiting till goal to buy some new clothes?

Sorry about your snow blondes Sad A relief you found an nhs dentist hope all gets sorted. Well done on sts

Bebe - Well done on sts. I have become a big strictly fan myself, I watch it twice Blush
I think Kara should win, her dancing is just brilliant.

Piste - Well done on sts.

I have a courtesy car sitting outside as my car would be too expensive not to go through insurance, I was so worried about any possible scrapes etc that got an insurance policy out which was £20, worth it for peace of mind.

I didn't weigh in today Xmas Blush just couldn't face it. I will make myself do so tomorrow.

Ooh, forgot to say also bebe love your new clothes you are are slinky Xmas Smile

GettinFestive · 17/12/2010 15:58

Having said that, I would be really pleased in Pamela won. Wouldn't mind if Matt won either!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2010 17:09

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 17/12/2010 21:43

Oh Blondes ( hugs Blondes ) what a monumental pain up the arse. You poor thing, you are not having the best of times at the moment.

We had a fair bit of snow and there was an accident on the way to skating. Sad We are due more tomorrow.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2010 22:46
RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 17/12/2010 23:23

"Aw, there, there. Let it all go. Better out than in."

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 02:25

'wipes eyes and blows nose and hands soggy snotty tissue back'

Thank you and sorry for my swearing - just fed up of snow

Dh finally managed to go back to work yesterday and dis half a day today before snow came so has worked 1.5 days in dec and brought in less than that in wages with expenses taken into account - he won't be working next week of snow/frost continue

I'm just back from babysitting - hence the 2.30am reply

Works country lane is sheer ice so got Db to pick me up near main road

And driving me back even in His big beast 4wd we were sliding so haws knows why my car would be like

Everyones fb status seems to be about snow at the moment - mine included as well as dentist lol

GettinFestive · 18/12/2010 10:14

blondes Sad snow is just a bloody pain. Sorry about teeth and the disruption Sad

Are you working today?

The snow has stopped here, I think we are forecast for some more tomorrow.

I weighed in today and I am so relieved to say I sts.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 12:04

well done for sts

no not working today, meant to be out with friends tonight

but snowing a blizzard again :( so likely to be snowed in again

got a lovely 3 last days planned for dcincluding xmas party i organise with 43 kids, plus lunch at prezzo and panto and if cant do it/get there i shall be very pissed off

GettinFestive · 18/12/2010 13:21

Hoping for you that the snow goes quickly Sad

When is the xmas party? Are the children local?

I saw on the news London down to the south east is bad, we just miss it here, but expect the unexpected.

How's it going where you are Pretty/Bebe/Piste/everybody?

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 13:28

Party Tuesday and panto Wednesday

Most children and adults are local to me so within 20mins

Last year snow and ice was horrendous and couldn't get to hall so had at work instead but a hall is easier

Has snopped snowing 'touchs wood head' that we won't get any more

South east is badly hit - where are you getting? Email if toy don't want to out yourself on here

GettinFestive · 18/12/2010 16:31

We are close to Portsmouth Blondes, just 10 miles away, we are categorised as being in the south east (not very east or west, but very south!). Did have some snow but don't think we are getting much more. My sister in West Sussex is snowed in again.

Will you miss being out tonight?

I am feeling optimistic, I am sure the snow will have melted away by Tuesday and it won't ruin the party Xmas Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 17:04

im also in south east , though about 1.5/2hrs drive from you

im hoping too that snow goes

yes missing my night out tonight :( but we will re arrange, its just a total bummer tha i had 3 nights planned out with nannies/friends and all 3 have fallen on weekends with snow

where as last sat no snow, and although i did go out, it wasnt a meal/xmas party and a boogie

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 18/12/2010 17:22

We had about 15 - 20 cm of snow today on top of the snow from yesterday,it was quite blizzardy at times, and as it was getting dark the sky went quite an ominous orangey colour suggesting there is more to come. We are SW of London.

Blondes - the forecast for us for next week is cold but no more snow, so hopefully it might relent a little for you?!

This website is good as it shows the actual radar used for the met office, it tracks the actual weather so you can see what is happening. You can get a good pic for free but then have to sign up if you want the full bells and whistles!

I really hope your party and stuff goes ahead.

Trimmer - we were coming down your way today, but thought it unwise. DD wanted to go shoppping with a mate to Jack Wills at Gunwharf. We have postponed it, I was quite glad as I couldn't really be arsed either!!

Looking forward to the Strictly Final. Me and DH have a significant amount of Mulled Wine to get through

im gonna have to talk to dh as not out and no xf and bugger all else on tv tonight Xmas Grin

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 18/12/2010 18:05

You could always have a 'sausage'

Or a bath
Or maybe combine the two?!

GettinFestive · 18/12/2010 18:18

sausage supper eh?

don't blame you piste for not braving the journey, I didn't even go to Sainsburys. We get the train to Gunwharf when we go there.

So who do you want to win strictly? I have mixed feelings, I want pamela to win but I think Kara is so amazing she should win, but having said that Matt is affable and fun so I wouldn't mind if he won Confused

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 18/12/2010 18:26

Do you know GT, I don't actually mind. In a way, they all deserve to. Pamela is an amazing example, only a couple of years younger than Ann W, she has done so well. Kara is made for dancing and is so slim and gorgeous, I think she is the best actual dancer. And Matt, my DC's generation's Blue Peter presenter. We adored him then, and he seems such a nice guy. He gets DD's vote ( or 10 apparently last week, dont tell DH!)
But I prefer Artem and James to aliona. Oo I just dunno!!

I just hope it's a good final!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 19:03

havnt had a sausage for a while :(

just out of bath

GettinFestive · 18/12/2010 20:48

My luxury would be to get out of the bath and wrap myself up in one of those slankets. dh ordered one for me but I think it will be delayed.

Get yourself a nice cold glass of wine Blondes, but don't have a bowl of peanuts Xmas Blush I've just done that.

My mission is to sts for Friday's weigh in.

Looking to next year, when I want to lose a stone by easter.

bebeinamanger · 18/12/2010 22:06

Glad everyone is safe and ok! I fear I may be stranded at my mums! Xmas Confused We went out here this afternoon (having religiously monitoring the weather forecasts & no snow being predicted) no snow to be seen, not even a hint and when we left the pottery painting place (an hour later) there was 2 inches of snow on the ground & it was still coming down heavy! Hmm Took 15mins to get back from town centre 1.5miles then took me an hour to drive back to my mums other house where we are staying, 6 miles away. Had to get the neighbours to push my car up the drive! The snow is nearly knee deep! DD can't wait to play in it 2moro, I'm gutted I left her sledge at home, but I fear she may disappear in the snow! It'll be up to her waist I should think! I love snow, but it was a scary drive! Looking forward to playing 2moro!

Supposed to be driving home on Tuesday, got to drive from Glocester to Kent & back on Thursday, so please keep fingers crossed for no snow then! Wink

On the food front not been too bad Xmas Hmm although did just have a Gu Chocolate Banoffee Pie thing! (Really good) Blush

bebeinamanger · 18/12/2010 22:08

Oh & in other news, our boiler at home has broken! So DH has no heating or hot water & British Gas can't get there!! His own fault, he only remembered about booking the service this week & the earliest slot we could get was the end of Jan!! I've been saying it's been making an odd noise for weeks!! Xmas Angry

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2010 23:39

oh no bebe, it was bad enough work running low on oil and no heating but had woofa/real fire/aga and heater in playroom

hope you manage to escape from your mums

i have been a piggy and eaten bacon piggy

was yummy and crispy and smoothered in ketchup Xmas Blush

GettinFestive · 19/12/2010 09:59

That's awful bebe, can you cope with temporary heating like fan heaters or whatever you've got?

Glad you enjoyed bacon sandwich Blondes. How's the snow situation looking?

For strictly fans - glad Kara won, but would have like to see Pamela's Argentine Tango. It's on xmas day....
