Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

Hi all, impressed at your exercise routine Blondes. I am going out in a bit to do my 2.3 mile route. How is your ankle bearing up?

Piste - don't care who sees me if I have my sports bra on!

Anyone seen Pretty?

Lolli - I had a chinese takeaway last night and didn't resist the chips Blush there are masses of them left over in the fridge, dh will eat them for his lunch.

I've just heard James Martin say on Sat kitchen they're putting those of us on a new year's diet through a willpower test so I'm not looking.

BBC repeated that programme on BBC3/4 about 10 scientific ways of losing weight it's available of iplayer, worth a look.

I am foodfocusing as from today.

GettinTrimmer · 08/01/2011 10:04

Smokin - you've started well, I had scrambld egg on toast

bebejones · 08/01/2011 10:11

Just popping on to say that the Daily Mail today have a pull out special WeightWatchers ProPoints meal plan. Going up to Tesco (after I have managed to drag my sorry arse into the shower) so will pick up a copy! (I know I don't do WW, but it might be worth a look!

We had pizza last night Blush but I didn't eat all of my small one and I shared with DD. So wasn't that bad.

Just had a lf yoghurt & some OJ for breakfast.

Would walk to Tesco but have to buy more stuff than I can carry back! Have a mountain of housework to do today, so that will have to count as my exercise for the day! Hmm

Blondes - hang in there it'll get easier & you'll be back to kicking ass soon enough! Wink

Murtette · 08/01/2011 10:17

Well done to you on all of your losses. What a great start to the year. I think its 14 or so weeks until Easter so a lb a week would be another stone off by then...although I remember saying similar things last year!

We had delicious thai red fish curry last night which was pretty low fat as the red curry sauce was made with red curry paste, extra light philadelphia and skimmed milk. It still tasted really rich.

DD's settling in sessions are going OK. A few tears but that's to be expected. She is being so clingy with me during the rest of the time. She's there for three full days next week so we'll see how that goes. My problem at the moment is that I really don't like the nursery manager who, I feel, doesn't listen to a thing I'm telling her about DD and, if I ask a question, just tells me "we have policies and procedures in place and need to consider the needs of all of the children". FFS! I know its my first experience of using a nursery but I have worked in them and am really trying not to be PFB about it all.

Blondes - I completely understand where you're coming from on the points. I just don't get them and cannot work out how to use my allowance during the day. I also think they've got some teething problems with some of the point allocations. For example, I was looking up light philadelphia the other day on their website and under "kraft philadelphia light" it was 2pp for a tbsp, under "light philadelphia" it was 1pp for a tbsp, under "philadelphia medium fat cheese" (which is what I think the light is) it was 4pts for a tbsp. So the same amount of the same product had three different values under three different names. AND it annoys me that all of their supermarket products (eg their yogurts) still have the old points values on them.

Piste - you are covered in loads of flourescent stuff when you run at night, aren't you? A few weeks ago, I was driving along a country lane and a man ran across the road dressed entirely in black other than a bit of piping on his hat. It really spooked me. I guess where you are that there must be streetlights.

Smokin - I weigh in on a Monday so we can celebrate/commiserate together.

Right, I'd better go and actually play with DD rather than MN. And get dressed too! Its dry here for the 1st time in a week so we'll actually be able to go out and get some fresh air.

Have a good weekend

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 10:20

My test will be dinner for one tonight. Its so tempting to order an indian - I could murder a king prawn biryani with onion salad and popadoms.

but instead will have something like stuffed peppers I guess. Or a WW meal for one. Never taste the same though do they?!

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 10:21

and Murtette, will be good to have someone to weigh in with!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 12:28

murtette i think extra light is 1pp light is 2pp and normal ie full fat 4pp

but yes confusing - have also worked out that 99% of stuff is double the old points - yet i dont get double points, was 20 now 29 - plus the bonus 49

'again blondes head explodes'

smokin im having an indian tonight and havnt a clue what to order thats low in ww pp -coz nothing is Grin

bebe yes i have brought the mail, and will study to see if makes sense, think they drag it out over 4 weeks Hmm

trimmer well done on running 2.3miles

piste - go in the daytime, might make you run faster lol

gym was ok, LOVELY to see my class friends back again, really have aching arms from thursday and legs feel on fire walking up the stairs - ankle held out but off for a bath in a moment

wont be baak at the gym now till friday am as night nannying 5 nights next week - im going to be shattered but the little bugger baby will not resist the lure of the blondes!!!!

bebejones · 08/01/2011 12:40

Blondes - You can collect 4 or 5 tokens this week & send off for them. But probably cheaper to wait & get it free each week! I'm not sure how the points work, but could you divide the 49 extra points up for the week & have 36pp per day? Then use the ones you don't use for a treat at weekend IYSWIM?

Anyone else seen the new M&S range 'Simply fuller longer', it's heavy on the protein to fill you up. Priciple sounds good but bet it would cost a fortune to live off those meals!! Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 12:42

bebe havnt read it yet, so tokens, hmmmmmmmmmm, i dont mind paying for it, just not sure if can be arsed to buy a paper every day

and yes im thinking of doing that, having 7extra pp a day to make 36 - instead of 29 every day plus 49

though tonight im having an indian with friends and will prob eat this weeks and next weeks bonus points up Grin

LollipopViolet · 08/01/2011 12:42

Aww, I seem to have gained 2lbs, I'm 12st 6 now :( Oh well, I'm over the blip, have been eating OK for the last day and the first bit of today, so I know it'll disappear again. No more KFC, no matter how much I love it! Think I'm going to find a dance DVD and do it later, after this food has settled. I do have the 30 day shred, but I hate it, absolutely hate it, want something more fun!

Murtette · 08/01/2011 12:47

Bebe - I'm just having some of that Covent Garden 84 cal soup. Have you read the ingredients? Only 22% of it is veg. They've got cream in there. I think I'll go back to making my own.

Blondes - the other things which keep making me go Confused about the new WW are that (a) everyone seems to be on 29pts plus 49pts whatever your weight, height, age etc whereas it used to be that each time you went down a stone you got one less pt as you needed less energy just to exist but they seem to have done away with that; and (b) if everything has doubled in points (which I agree with) but your points allowance hasn't, then you need to eat fruit but that used to be part of your points. How am I going to lose weight if I eat half a melon, an apple, two satsumas, a pear and half a punnet of grapes a day (which is what I did yesterday). That would have been about 6 pts on the old plan. There's no point asking the meeting leader as they don't have clue.

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 12:48

Blondes, I always used to have Chicken Saag and boiled rice when on a diet - chicken dry fried in spinach with herbs, so shouldnt be too bad? Stear clear of anything creamy - tikka better than masala etc. Its hard with the new point system though, was just about getting my head round the last! Thats why I just count calories and fat I just cant get my head round WW properly.

Lollipop that sucks Sad is it a 2lb over the week? not too bad to try and lose?

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 12:49

Murtette, it is possible to lose weight eating that much fruit - it sounds like its based more on the principles of slimming world?

LollipopViolet · 08/01/2011 12:54

Smokin, yeah it's 2lbs over that week, so it's not awful. Just a little annoying, as it's when I'm with friends who AREN'T slimming that I give in to temptation, but I can't hide away forever! Ah well, my willpower will improve, I'm sure.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 13:16

everyone swears new ww is the way to go ..... and yes does sound like sw with all fruit free

MURTETTE kwym - i ate tons of fruit yesterday as so bloody hungary and as all sugar how the hell can i lose weight?

sounds like it will be chicken sag, but thats still 23pp Shock - a prawn sag is 16 so may go for that

lolli sorry you put on 2 lbs, but thats better than mine or trimmers 7 Grin

bebejones · 08/01/2011 13:46

Lollipop - sorry bout the 2lb gain! It'll go, might be water weight, try drinking plenty of water to 'flush' it out!

Blondes - My BIL has lost nearly 4 stone since joing WW in the summer, just over a stone of that has been on new PP. So obviously works, just seems v confusing!

Murtette - Hadn't read the ingredients, but just got a carton out of the dreezer so I can have some for dinner! When I have some more room in my freezer I shall be making soups again. I have a thingamy of celery that is begging to be chopped, boiled & blended!! Wink

bebejones · 08/01/2011 13:47

freezer - brain going too fast for fingers!

Murtette · 08/01/2011 14:01

Bebe - what's a good celery soup recipe? I'd bought some to eat with phili but really can't stand celery raw.

Smokin - what I'm worried about is that you can't lose weight whilst eating all of that fruit. Yesterday I used my points badly so had to eat loads of fruit as I was so hungry.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 14:09

celery is free,so yes we need a ww pp recipe that can be 0 points Grin

guess stock, onion and celery

bebejones · 08/01/2011 14:45

I soften an onion and garlic in some fry light. Add chopped bunch of celery & 'sweat' for a couple of minutes with the lid on (the celery, not me!) then add veg stock & plenty of black pepper (but do it to taste...my mum always uses white pepper, but I don't usually have that). Simmer until celery is soft, then blend til runny (It will always be slightly textured) I sometimes add a splash of skimmed milk to make it slightly 'creamier' Hmm. Really nice with wholemeal/granary bread or sesame ryvita! :) Prob not 0 points coz of the fry light or skimmed milk. But don't quote me, I don't know!!

Next part of the supplement is with Mondays Daily Mail, but only if you buy from Tesco or WHSmiths!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 08/01/2011 14:48

I made Bebe's celery soup before it is was very nice!

I've just made a general veggie one with all the stuff knocking about in the fridge, so leek, carrot, onion and two little legs of celery, and actually it fine. DS ate it. Its odd for us on a Saturday with sporting arrangements because DD doesn't get to have lunch until 3, so soup is quite a good meal for eating in shifts!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2011 15:37

in the mail the ww booklet has a misprint - karens weight isnt now 12st 14lbs as that would be 13 stone and she has lost more than 3 lbs in that pic

not that im picky, but that would annoy me if i were karen :)

LollipopViolet · 08/01/2011 16:03

OK, just proved I can do this healthy thing if I really try. My uncle is disabled and needs help eating, he's just asked for some chocolate (we've got a tin of Heroes) and offered me one. I said no. Took the sweets back to where they live and have just tucked into two clementines, because my brain is saying it needs sugar. Also have an unopened big bag of dolly mixture in the fridge.

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 17:51

I am not even going to try and get my head around the whole WW thing!

I dont know the whole principles of SW, but I know they can have unlimited fruit and people have obviously lost an awful lot of weight on their plans. Confuses me though!

Just had mediterrean veg with a small low fat pizza with tuna and onion. Was actually really filling, so hoping I wont pick at the party tonight. And managed 25 minutes on the stepper too, which makes me feel better too. Bought non-alcoholic drinks too.

Have fun with your Saturday nights Grin jealous of the Indian!

smokinaces · 08/01/2011 17:51

and well done Lollipop!!!
