By the way, I started this 2 days ago (ouch), and if anyone's after handweights, I got some from Argos that were reduced from 19.99 to 9.99. Three diff weights. Very good.

acebaby · 24/11/2010 21:04

Just finished day 2. It went more quickly than yesterday (thanks to the tip about facing different directions during the cardio!) I bought some 1kg weights today from Sainsbury's but decided to stick with tomatoes for now, until I've got the hang of the moves.

I'm feeling quite motivated though Smile!

deal muppet (sorry can't help but use that name Grin )

no way am I up to weights yet vandubby! My tins of soup are plenty for now!

I have just taken all my measurements too ( should have done it yesterday given the jean loosening) so now I have a benchmark to compare with!

have taken :
Thighs
Hips
Waist
Bust
Arms

Confused
Sugarmuppet · 24/11/2010 21:21

I need to take measurements too...but don't own a tape measure Blush Will have to hunt one down, MIL is bound to have one!

Right now I couldn't imagine using anything heavier than soup but we shall see what the rest of the week brings!

vandubby · 24/11/2010 21:30

Dandilioness! 6 KG??? Respect! Although you are clearly insane!

Mummynoseynora - the lowest are 1.1kg - not too bad honest

mummynoseynora · 24/11/2010 21:31

that sounds a lot more than 400g Wink

I have to say though, my arms were shaking after I'd carried them from the shop - and I virtually live next door - hadn't really thought that one through..

justaminute · 24/11/2010 22:13

Dandylioness 6kg?! Shock in each hand? . Respect.

I'm using 1.5kg weights, was using 2kg two months ago but finding that too hard having had a break from the shred.

Day 5 - tick Smile

redderthanred · 25/11/2010 06:41

Day 4 done. Actually got up at 5:50am to start shredding at 6.

This in itself is a small mircale.

Plus, the total bonus this morning was that i could move without pain when i woke up.

horray!

redderthanred · 25/11/2010 07:23

can i ask how you lot deal with any negativity from doing this?

My sister thinks its hysterical and cant see the point
and my mother says there is no way i will keep it up and getting up at 6am ( only 30 mins earlier than normal, 4x a week) is stupid.

Or is it best to just say nothing, then run round them flasing my toned bod when im done?

notyummy · 25/11/2010 08:25

Redder - they obviously know nothing about physical fitness, so unless you think you will be able to convert them by explaining how you are building muscle that will burn more calories and therefore becoming a lean fat burning machine....I would just ignore!

redderthanred · 25/11/2010 09:40

Good plan. Mum is phoning everyday to ask if ive done it, then to tell me i shouldnt do it tomorrow and maybe once a week is best.
Also that they ( on the dvd) are very fit, and i am not, therefore i should not be doing it.

No way im giving up having got through the first few days. I WILL do all 30.

virgo1979 · 25/11/2010 09:50

DVD ordered. Am now a little bit scared....

notyummy · 25/11/2010 09:58

Well they only got to be very fit ....by exercising(!!) They may well have been unfit once and only by pushing themsleves regularly (and not phoning it in Grin) did they achieve the giddy heights of tonedness they now have. You mum and sister may not have futures as motivational speakers in front of them....

I am honestly as fit now (at nearly 40) as I have ever been. I can run a mile and half in 10 minutes - 3 miles in 21 minutes, and 10 miles in ...well, quite a bit longer, but still a respectable 1 hr 25! Plus I can do loads of full press-ups etc. You don't have to have been a gym bunny since the age of 15 of whatever to become fit and healthy.

MickyLee · 25/11/2010 10:22

redder Ignore them.. they should support you (even if they don't think you will keep it up) But is very frustrating having to justify getting healthy and fit.

I find it equally frustrating with the snide comments made by my bigger friends like " oh and as if YOU need to do that" because I am already slim. FGS I am still nearly 30 and have had 2 children.. yes I am slim and look good in clothes but underthem, i have wobberly bits and a bit of a muffin top. I am only 5ft so I just have a small frame. Plus I am very unfit and having a quick dash for the bus leaves me huffing and puffing.

Anyway.. makes me have to not mention it to certan friends which is hard when it is really a big part of my life at the moment.

MickyLee · 25/11/2010 10:24

notyummy I am inspired by you :)

NicknameInUse · 25/11/2010 11:14

Welcome to the dark side virgo Grin

Have woken up on the morning of day three with far less pain! Roll on ds's nap time at 12 so I can nearly kill myself again!

Everyone's doing so well!

red DP's mum is the same with me, she's got it into her head that I'm lazy and there's no way I'll stick to it (from when I stopped using the rowing machine everyday because I'd broken my toe and buggered up my knee Hmm). Use it to make you more determined to prove them wrong. In 30 days you can present them with a hat each with instructions to chow down! Grin

SpareRoomSleeper · 25/11/2010 11:37

Bluergh. Missed day 3 yesterday because my body was just screaming in pain everytime I moved. Plus, I think ive done my right elbow in with them bloody pres ups.

Im waiting for the good feelings to kick in but its not happened yet. I weighed myself yesterday and am 10.5 stones and 5 feet and 7 inches tall. Would love to see that drop down to 9.5...soooooo..................day 3 bring it on!!!

Jump jump jump! skip skip skip!

aaarrggghhh

SilverSixpence · 25/11/2010 11:58

Hi,
Just got my DVD and have done Level 1 - I have just done (about) 100 more sit ups then I did in the last year Grin.

I have bad knees so am a bit concerned about all these squats and lunges - will see how it goes.

Mickylee I'm also fairly slim (8-10) but have a wobbly tummy 2 years after having DS which I'm desperate to be rid of. I've also always had quite chunky thighs and would be nice to have slimmer legs. I'm just not going to tell anyone I'm doing it. I had a salad yesterday for lunch and got lots of comments at work about why are you eating salad?!

NicknameInUse · 25/11/2010 12:47

Day 3 done. But fuck me was that harder than yesterday!! I only got 3-4 hours sleep last night so was really lacking the energy and strength to get through it. Bloody hell that took some will power. Shock

SpareRoomSleeper · 25/11/2010 13:00

nick...ive just done day 3 as well. OH MY GOD.

That was VERY hard, especially in the first ten minutes. Im so exhausted I cant type.

Dont know if I can do this all month.

Someone pep me up please!

Confused
NicknameInUse · 25/11/2010 13:19

I would spare, but I'm in much need of pepping also!

I'm sure it's just one of those days...

Can we shred it? YES WE CAN! Grin Hmm

redderthanred · 25/11/2010 13:24

You CAN do it.
Promise.
Im on day 4. Ive im not aching at all today,( only when i go up and down stairs)

Its only 20 mins. when you have done 10 and your knackered, your half way there and it would be silly to stop.

Think of the inch lost... You CAN do it.

and what i keep telling myself, if americas fattest fat people can do it. Then i can.

If they can lose 200lbs, then i can shift 20.

If they can run a whole marathon within 6 months, then i can do 20 mins a day.
