Hello Fizzy, I've just done day 3 level 1. In quite some pain after day 2 as DS decided he wanted a feed halfway through my session so I had to stop without stretching it out, but feeling better - at the moment - for having done today's shred. How are you finding it?

FizzyMakeFeelNice · 16/12/2010 19:50

I'm finding it okay so far, been in a fair bit of pain today, especially in the thighs. DD has been copying the groaning noises I've been making everytime I have to kneel down :) Really determined to see this through, GOT to get back into those pre-DD clothes! Went out and bought weights, exercise mat and training clothes today :)

conquita · 16/12/2010 21:13

Well day 2 level 1 over and done with. Woke up with legs really aching but still did it. Did not think I would get through all the jumping jacks at the beginning but someone here gave a tip on turning round facing different walls, and that made a HUGE difference, thanks!. I re-did my BMI yesterday I am actually at 28.5, I weigh 75 kilos and am 5ft 4inches tall.

I hope I can keep this up, it is the aches in my legs that is offputting, how long does it take for your body to adjust/if ever!

Good to see you Reddy Smile

redderthanred · 16/12/2010 21:39

Takes about 4 days. You wont get much aching after that.
Well done and keep with it.

Day 25 just done. Stupidly late time to shred. But I was busy earlier. Sumo jump things still beat me. Did 6 less than I should have. Managed all the rock star jumps. But 5 less of the jump squat things. Pisses me off.
Oh well. Always tomorrow

conquita · 16/12/2010 22:17

Does anyone know how many calories could be burnt in the 20 minutes of doing shred?

MickyLee · 17/12/2010 09:37

I read 200-300 calories depending on your size and how much you go for it.

About to start day 25. Nearly at the end of the 30 days but this is truely just the start.

Really looking forward to seeing how many inches I have lost at the end of 30 days.

Going to check if Amazon deliver here (overseas) I know they do books but never checked the dvds. Want to get another Killian one to shake up my routine.

I would love to start running but it is not possible at the moment as DH works long hours and have no one to watch DS while I do it. I might have to get into powerwalking with the pushchair for now. If I choose routes with hills, then it should be quite a workout esp pushing 25 kilos of weight with DS and pushchair! DS loves being out for walks so would make him very excited too

redderthanred · 17/12/2010 10:52

just done day 26.

went with the anita versions of the arm up, leg up plank thing at the end.
was a tiny bit less knackered so manged to only do 3 less of the jump squats.

GGRRR.

Ive got 4 days left to be able to do them all.

( 4 days left!!!!)
cant believe ive done it every day for 30 days.

Like you micky - its just the start.

HonestyBox · 17/12/2010 11:18

What weights are you guys using? I've got 1kg, too light I think.

Joby1970 · 17/12/2010 12:27

honestbox - I use 2kg for most things - & a 5kg kettlebell for the squat & press I think its called.

OP posts:
chocohohoholic · 17/12/2010 13:09

Mine are 1.4kg. I'm going to get some heavier ones and then start from the beginning with them once I finish the first 30 days.

Joby, I am in awe of your shredding staying power. Did you do things before shredding or was that the beginning for you?

Day 23 done here. I feel very proud as I did a whole set of sumo squats today. Does anyone else get ravenous after doing it? I'm just so hungry at the moment.

mothersmilk · 17/12/2010 14:08

can i join? i got my dvd today i think the kids thought santa had come early the way i greated the postman!!! iv just done day one and ihave to say im very very impressed with the whole thing everything is so smooth and fast none of this faffing about inbetween (i guess thats part of how it mananges to be 20 minutes). And you know there is somethig about the women i actually quite like. it does seem a daft time to start so close to christmas but i only intent to really take off christmas day and boxing day. Im having a bit of an overhaul in the general lifestyle department so the shred is just one of many (but very key as i know dh has bought me some very lovely undies for xmas and i intend to knock him dead in them Wink)
theres a bit of a list but i will share if anyone is interested.
Things i am going to do to make ME feel good

  1. get atleast 20 minutes of GOOD excersise every day(shred)
  2. drink enough water
  3. cut down on caffine
  4. cut out alchole(apart from special events blah blah you guys know the score)
  5. moisturise after every bath shower(god it doesnt take that much longer)
  6. make sure to have 'relaxing' bath and face pack, nails, or scrub ect. once a week
  7. wash and 'do' my hair at least twice a week(pls dont think i dont wash my hair Blush it s just with kids its very often wash and go)
  8. Eat better(lots better)
  9. take 10 minutes out evry day to shut my eyes and do nothing
10. smaller portions (both me and dh to his disgustGrin) 11. keep our bedroom clear of washing, kids toys, general none bedroom items that do not belong in my sanctuary!

hhhhmmm seems a long long list now iv typed it, impossible? i just feel three children later and five years down the line im finally not pregnat and not bf and although im only 25 i want to look and feel as good as i did when i was 20 long shot but if i get near it would be nice.
To any ne who has taken the time to read my rambling so far thankyou.
And can ask you guys what changes you have made to your lives and how much better do you feel for it?

MickyLee · 17/12/2010 15:13

mothersmilk Great list.. Will really give you a massive lifestyle boost if you stick with it. The Dvd is great and quite addictive imo. Because it really does work and make a difference. I feel great for it.
In your list I have changed

  1. get atleast 20 minutes of GOOD excersise every day(shred)
  2. drink enough water
  3. cut down on caffine
  4. cut out alchole(apart from special events blah blah you guys know the score)
The hair washing thing happens but then I just leave it to dry then tie it up.. looks so nice blowdried so much work on that. Trying to eat better but not doing too well as yet.

Also I smoke Blush And really want to give up. I am at the moment cutting down until the new year then hoping to give up NYD. I am 30 in March and don't want to be a smoker in my 30's so if I fall off the wagon a few times, I have until then as a serious cut off date!

mothersmilk · 17/12/2010 16:09

i would sugest getting help with the smoking i gave up 3 years ago and was refered to the hsop to see a special councellor(i know thats not spelt right by the way Wink cold is kicking in) because i was preggors at the i think i got special treatment (please note that being pregnant is not why i gave up having smoked through dd pregnancyBlush) anyway i have to say it was great i actually only saw the girl twice once to go throught the usual how many? why when? how often? and she did point out alot of things that i hadnt thought about or had pushed aside because'that wasnt me' then i got patches losengers what ever you think will work they will give you it all if you want. But the key thing was i think she came back to see me in a month to see how i was doing and i got a phone call evry week i just couldnt face falling off the wagon knowing that i was going to have to tell her.
Also i have to the lightening moment for me with smoking was the realisation i didnt actually like it anymore i was just pathetically (no offence intended) doing it because i was addicted. Within a week i felt great i had so much more energy i think that did it for me aswell i just didint realise hoe tired it was making me ant im babbling again one last thing vanity had ALOT to do with it

MickyLee · 17/12/2010 16:32

Thats just how I feel at the moment when you say you didn't like it anymore but just smoking because you are addicted. Before when I was smoking, I watched the smoke from the cig and it was blue and the smoke I exhaled and it was brown!! where did the blue go? I hate it now and want to be free of them.

As for getting help, I live in Turkey so that sort of help isn't available to me :(

tried the patches in the past and they make my skin itch.. thinking about buying the gum this time.

Joby1970 · 17/12/2010 16:50

workout 23 done. 7 days to go!

i missed a workout yesterday. but on the plus side i was more motivated today.

level3 is getting a bit better. phew. it definitely is not a cake walk!

Anyone just starting, i recommend that you take your measurements. i haven't had much weight loss but have lost inches around my arms and tummy.

i hadn't really noticed the change in the mirror but my measurements are definitely smaller. it helps to know that, when you're not feeling particularly motivated.

i only took measurements on day10 but wish i had done on day1.

conquita · 17/12/2010 22:45

Day three level one done. The lower back of my legs are troubling me so, but in a good I am doing something that works, kind of way. I took my measurements yesterday. I am not weighing myself on a scale until after 30 days. I will measure myself every 10 days after each level is complete.

To give up smoking, I had to give up drinking. I could not drink alcohol without smoking, so had to give up both. I have drank a glass of wine since though, on two occassions but did not want to smoke, so knew then I had quit the cigs for good. But I still don't trust myself with going to a pub and not getting drunk, and not smoking, so I don't go to pubs anymore [sigh...].

MickyLee · 18/12/2010 08:54

Just ordered Banish fat, boost metabolism. It will be here next week. Going to do it 3 x a week and shred (mixed levels) the other days. SOunds like ths workout dvd is much harder than 30DS. Looking forward to the change.

Just about to start day 26 :)

mothersmilk · 18/12/2010 09:21

conquita i had to give up alchole too and tea and coffee and keep really really busy in order to give up after about a year a started to go out socially and drink a gain did have one cig the first time i went out but its was so god awfull i realised i was over it and so i know trust myself completely and have to say after three years there is not very often those moments were i think you know i could really do with a ciggerette but i know i wouldnt like it anyway

toobusytothink · 18/12/2010 10:15

Not kidding - this is hard!!
Have been doing Davina but stopped seeing results so thought I'd give this a try. I am quite toned already, but did day 1 level 1 just now and only just managed to finish each exercise. Need to check in here every day otherwise I will find an excuse not to do it (might have to give Xmas day and Boxing day a miss though).

MickyLee · 18/12/2010 11:25

toobusy welcome. If it wasn't for here, I don't think I would of managed it this far.
Was looking at buying Davina when I have finished this but decided on another jillian dvd. Glad I did now if you find this harder because I wouldn't want to go easier.

nomorecake · 18/12/2010 13:14

day 24 done.
getting better. can do 20 sumo jumps without stopping, and most of the jump squats and rock stars.
The plank with weight and donkey kick, and the jumping lunges still really struggle with.

MickeyLee - i was thinking of moving on to that one. when you get it will you report back?
i was thinking of going to back to a davina one that i've tried a couple of times before. but it just seems slow and grey compared to 30dS, so i think i'll try another jillian one.
i've toned up but have lots of fat still to lose, so maybe the 'banish fat, boost metabolism' would be the way to go.

chocohohoholic · 18/12/2010 15:31

Hi all,
I'm feeling very pleased with myself as I've just done level 3 and level 1 back to back. Don't usualy shred at weekends but we are snowed in so thought I might as well. My son was egging me on saying put it on again mummy, hence the extra level today. When I finished (the 2nd one) he shouted "do it again mummy" - I think he is channeling Jillian Grin

So that is day 24 done for me too.
.
For those thinking of stopping smoking, Alan Carr, The Easy Way to Stop Smoking is a great book to buy and read in your run up to stopping. I've been stopped for 6 years now and it really helped me. If anyone wants it I'll be happy to post out to them when I can get near a post office.

MickyLee · 19/12/2010 06:07

Well done choc 2 shreds back to back is amazing.. Do you feel sore today? Grin

I have heard a lot about this Alan Carr book. It sounds great. I think I might get it next time I go to the UK. I live in Turkey so can't expect you to post it here.

nomore I receive BFBM dvd between 25th and 30th (so amazon tells me) Going to jump straight into it as the 30 days will be finished by then. I will report back and tell everyone all about it. I will keep posting here everytime I have done either the shred or BFBM because it keeps me going

redderthanred · 19/12/2010 08:33

I am ill. Didn't shred yesterday as I felt so bad. Thought is do 2 today instead. But its unlike ill even get out of bed today.
I'm a bit pissed off as I wanted to do it every day.
