Did levels 1 and 3 yesterday. I HATE JUMPING LUNGES.

That is all I have say on the matter. Wink

NicknameInUse · 15/12/2010 10:24

Urgh. DS has come down with a monster cold (which I'll ineveitably have over the weekend when we've got a Christmas party and a 6+hour car journey to do!) so I only got 2hours sleep at the most. Don't know how the hell I'm going to shred today Sad

Going to stay with family for two weeks over Christmas in a tiny house with ds and a dozy old labrador - will be a Christmas miracle if I can find the time and space to do it!!

chocohohoholic · 15/12/2010 12:15

Just done my first level 3 - OMFG!!! It's a bit of a shocker isn't it.

Quite a list of hard ones in there for me; the plank/forearm uppy downy one, jumping lunges, moving press-ups, jumping plies, scissor abs, rock star, then plank / leg one, there could be more too or was that the whole list? Grin

Nickname, hope you find the time and energy for a shred today.

redderthanred · 15/12/2010 12:22

lol. that may have been the whole list. Its generally a killer isnt it.

Its going to be a bit of a nightmare to get all the shredding in over xmas for most people i suspect. Im going to try, should just about manage it ( but DD is going to her dads for a few days, so its a little easier for me)

MickyLee · 15/12/2010 12:55

I missed yesterdays shred :(

I walked to my friends house for a coffee which involves a very steep hill this morning so not too mad at myself now.

Just about to complete day 23. Killian.. i'm coming !

Joby1970 · 15/12/2010 13:52

hi guys - I've been away for a few days so haven't shredded but have been lugging big boxes & band equipment about so I think it counts. Plus I would have struggled more doing it if I hadn't been a shredhead!

So I had 5 or so pages of the thread to catch up on.. nearly choked on my drink.. you lot are so funny.

For the OP who is having probs with her neighbor I thought she could ask them if they want to come & join her doing the Shred.

I did day 6 yesterday and days 4 and 5 the day before. Day 7 here I come. I am closing my ears to the stuff that you are all talking about, I'm blissfully unaware of what a plank or a sumo lunge means. I'm now finding workout 1 easier and I'm going to revel in that safety, if I'm not careful I'll be phoning it in soon Xmas Wink.

HonestyBox · 15/12/2010 19:52

Fantastic news, I've lost an inch from my thighs. No loss anywhere else but I've only been going 7 days with a massive break so I'm happy with this little result. My thighs actually feel different to me and it feels fab. Have got thighs that rub together as I carry a lot of weight there even though I am not overweight, the rubbing thighs thing makes me feel bad esp. in summer when they are sweaty Blush. Just posting to encourage anyone who may be lurking to have a go. Would love to lose a bit from my waist too, although it is under my waistline that my stomach sticks out??? Bodies eh!

redderthanred · 15/12/2010 20:16

Well done! It's so good to see results isn't it.

Day 24 done. I actually enjoyed the first two circuits. I even did all the sissor abs. There may even have been some smiling.
Until circuit 3.
It's my nemesis.

Ggggggrrrrr

I will be able to complete it
I will not be beaten by some Damn jumping.

Keep shredding everyone

nomorecake · 15/12/2010 22:14

REDDER- i'm in awe! all scissor abs and smiling Confused!!

Day 22 done!

argh still bloody struggling with L3, especially sumo squat jumps. i can only manage 4 at a time, then i have to stop.

damn you sumo squats!!

had to sit out the planks with weight and leg lifts (both setsBlush).

but managed more rock stars than yesterday.

all the plank positions give me a bit of a headache when i get up. anyone else??

only 8 days to go!

notyummy · 15/12/2010 22:52

Surely it can't just be that hates the L3 squat jumps?? My legs very nearly refuse to function by the end.

prettybirdinapeartree · 15/12/2010 23:11

Notyummy - I perhaps don't go quite as deep as I should could during the jump squats....... Wink

I do find them much better this time through the Shred though. I found it really hard to balance first time around (not saying I'm finding it easy this time round, but I'm not aobut to fall over at least)

The only thing that I am still not doing at all is the "full" sit-ups. I'm doing a Pilates variation: essentital like Anita's version but holding weights.

I am also sure my bum is too high in the plank position - I'm woriking on trying to get a straighter body through my back and legs.

conquita · 16/12/2010 00:53

I just did day one this morning. I absolutley loved it. I really really like Jillian/sorry Killian! and I am going to keep doing this everyday I AM!

Redder you are my inspiration. Please do not stop writing on this thread, I have read every single thing you have written because I too find it difficult and disheartening when I don't lose weight. I have to get my BMI down to 25, I am at 27 I think now. I know it should not matter, but I work with a doctor and he rates his patients as being obese, oeverweight etc by their height and weight = BMI. So I cannot stop thinking about that.

redderthanred · 16/12/2010 07:33

With the plank thing thats giving you a headache... how are you holding your head and neck? I think its suposed to be in a relacxed neutral position ( ie - not looking at the tv)

notyummy - the squat jumps and then rock start jumps kill me. I can manage them all. until about the last 4. I am so frustrated that i miss those last 4. Determinded to do them all.

I like the leg up/arm up thing, and the full sit ups. I dont think the ab work is as hard in this circuit as the last. ( bar the sissor abs)

Conquita - ah, thank you :) I know its damn hard not to be bothered by bmi. I still am. I will most likely have lost 1/2 stone this month. To me that feels slow, as when i diet i can usually lose a stone in a month. I just all obsessed about getting the numbers on the scale to go down. But of course, doing it that way.... well the numbers go up again VERY quickly as soon as you start eating again.
I wont lie and say my eating is fantastic right now. But i am eating, and the weight is coming off.

I started the 30 day shred as a quick fix solution. Its totally turned out to be the opposite of that.
I realise this is long term. Its about making the right choices. Those right choices also involve your life ( so, if im out for a meal, i pick something better, rather than just not going because there is food there, or just gorging myself because im out for a meal)

That i can fit daily exercise into my day. That i can do it. That i can push myself.

Ive heard the banish fat, boost metabolism is slightly better for weight loss, and i intend to start this, and alternate days with the shred once my 30 shred days are done.

Ive agreed to start the couch to 5k programme with a shred buddy in the spring and i would really like to start the P90X next autumn.

My BMI will come down. Its coming down now. I just need to be patient.

But the changes in my body over the last few weeks from doing the shred are huge. And im loving it. And the sense of achievement when you do a circuit that you couldnt do all of at the start ( damn you circuit 3!!!!).

You are going to love it!

nomorecake · 16/12/2010 09:59

Notyummy-- I can only manage a few squat jumps then I have to switch to anita's static lunges.

nomorecake · 16/12/2010 10:03

Prettybird- I think my bum may be too High in the plank position. I think thsts what's giving me headache when I get up. I think I'm ending up in a downward-facing-dog yoga position when my arms tire.

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 10:58

Didn't Shred yesterday (over an hour shovelling compacted snow and ice instead! Xmas Shock) but did Day 7 of Level 3 (2nd time through) today. Was much better than Monday and Tuesday - I wasn't struggling as much with the walking planks (= I almost managed to keep up with her speed of doing them).

I've been diagnosed trochanteric bursitis by my GP though (saw him yesterday). However, it's only causing me intermittent pain at night (only noticed it a couple of times in the day) so hopefully it has been caught early enough and he hasn't told me to stop other exercise. Once I manage to see the physios though, they might have other ideas....

FizzyMakeFeelNice · 16/12/2010 11:06

Mind if I join you ladies, just did day 2 level one, and I hurt! Started a thread yesterday, but think I'll be sticking with you guys now for when I feel like giving up!

MickyLee · 16/12/2010 11:09

Just finished day 24 yay :)

But I have terrible carpit burn on my elbows now from all those plank moves :(
Must wear long sleves tomorrow!

Still can't manage jumping lunges yet so following Anita. And the full sit ups with hands at your ears.. very hard!

MickyLee · 16/12/2010 11:11

Just realised (in my post work out braindead head) I spelt carpet wrong... Blush

prettybirdinapeartree · 16/12/2010 11:23

I can't do the full sit-ups either. Or rather, I could do them if I let myself use the wrong muscles, ie bulge up my stomach to do it - but given that I want to creat a flat stomach Grin, I keep to Anita's ones and make sure that I keep my "navel to spine" and that my stomach stays flat while I am doing it.

NicknameInUse · 16/12/2010 11:26

Hi all! I didn't manage to shred yesterday, as expected, I was absolutely exhausted and cat napped at any given oppertunity.
But, I got a good night's sleep last night (thanks DS) and am raring to go today! Smile Have promised myself - and now you - that I'm going to attempt the advanced moves today as my knees are better atm.

Wish me luck! Grin

chocohohoholic · 16/12/2010 11:29

Hello all, and welcome to shredding Fizzy and conquita Smile.

Joby, how long have you been doing this shredding thing? What did you move onto when you finished the first 30 days?

Day 22 here and managed more today, I think I'm going to like level 3 more than level 2.

Are the moving planks the uppy downy ones? Managed a whole set of them today before wimping back down to Anita ones. Woo hoo! If you are talking about the moving press up ones, well I'm just hopeless at them. Grin

NicknameInUse · 16/12/2010 12:36

I'm I still alive?

Cor blimey that was intense! Did the Natalie version of everything but the lunge things (how is it physically possible to go that low?!)! I can do proper push ups!!! Well, half way down... but I've never been remotely close to being able to do one before! Shock!
I'm amazed! I had to stop and puff for 5secs a couple of times and nearly died but I did it!!! Grin

I'm going to try and fit in Level one this evening so I can see how much/if I find it any easier.

Joby1970 · 16/12/2010 13:01

Chocoholic: I started Shredding back in Feb this year - been round it a couple of times & now mix it in with the gym
