What size weights should I get for it? Now I've heard of the Roast Beef and mince pie diet, I'm raring to get started.

redderthanred · 08/12/2010 06:54

Hi - im still here.
I didnt shred yesterday. I was planning on doing it in the morning, but my alarm didnt go off and i ran out of time. So thought id do it in the evening.
Had a surprise takeaway for tea, totally unplanned, and ate quite late for me. I felt over full and a bit pukey afterwards tbh, and went to bed really early as my stomach was churning. so thought it was best not to shred.
Got up at 5.50am and have done todays though :)

Mickey, im like you, i just cant do it in the evening. My motivation has gone, im tried and just want to chill out.

Im not beating myself up about missing one day. This is going to be a long term thing for me, not just 30 days, and im sure there are going to be days where i cant do it in the future, as long as i get straight back to it and dont use it as a ' well, ive stopped, so might as well not bother starting' thing.

Nearing the end of level 2 now. Whats level 3 like?

LostGirl · 08/12/2010 08:20

Great attitude to have redder. Level 3 is not so hard on the arms or abs, but very jumpy, with jumping lunges, jumping squats and rockstars which I will quite happily never do again Grin

notyummy · 08/12/2010 08:43

Sue - I think it is best to get a set with 2 or 3 different weights in, as that allows you to challenge yourself as you get fitter. They will also be more versatile for using for overall fitness.

I use 3 kg (apart from V sits when I have to drop down to 1.5kg - and the squat and deadlift in L3, where I use 5kg.) I have been exercising for a while though, and was used to used to fairly challenging circuit training. I think most people use around 1.5kg, so if you got a set that included that weight then you wouldn't go far wrong.

bumpybecky · 08/12/2010 10:39

Sue I've managed 5 days so far (between mince pies) and I'm still using cans of beans! they might not feel very heavy the first few lifts, but they do by the end!

chocoholic · 08/12/2010 10:52

Redder, I'm so glad you posted that. I missed yesterday too as I had too much to do (I know, 20 mins should have fitted somewhere). If I don't do it just after walking the dog, I just can't bring myself to do it.

Having a slurp of tea then back into it for me.

We will get through these 30 days and more.

NicknameInUse · 08/12/2010 11:02

I found myself doing extra weights and abs stuff at 11 o'clock last night! Shock
Not entirely sure why...

redderthanred · 08/12/2010 11:35

hmm. i am thinking that maybe i shall do it again this evening to catch up, then ill still be on track.

MickyLee · 08/12/2010 15:40

Finished day 19!!! I went for an hours walk this morning too. But then I have eaten loads of christmas chocolate too Blush

Can't shred tomorrow, maybe I will fit two in on Friday

redderthanred · 08/12/2010 19:05

Right. am just about to get changed and do it again for the second day. Which is madness really. but then i will be caught up.

MickyLee · 08/12/2010 19:35

Good going!!! I am very impressed redder

sue52 · 08/12/2010 19:45

notyummy I have just done level 1 for the first time with 0.5kg, I think it will take me a good while to get up to 3kg. It seemed really easy at first and I wondered what all the fuss was about but at the end of the session I was totally knackered and needed a litre of water and a lie down. Has any one really managed 2 session on the trot and lived?

notyummy · 08/12/2010 19:53

I do 2 back to back a couple of times a week, and do other stuff on other days (i.e I don't do the 20 mins everyday thing.) But as I said, I have exercised for quite sometime - it is hard work compared to most exercise DVDs, so you should be pleased to get through it. Just get at it and it will get easier.

I really hope I don't sound like a smug know-it-all btw. I don't intend to! Exercise is my 'thing' so I do a fair amount and like to challenge myself. The Shred is definitely one of the harder ones, which is why I use it as a 'tool' to push me by doing 2 levels at once.

redderthanred · 08/12/2010 20:08

Just did my second shred of the day and im caught up and back on track. Day 18 tomorrow and I feel like Ill be ready to move up a level.
Notyummy. Have u done any other of her dvds

NicknameInUse · 08/12/2010 20:14

Well done red!
Did day 2 of Level 2 today, my abs and shoulders are feeling it! Planks are the work of the devil! I didn't find them too bad yesterday but really felt it today.

notyummy · 08/12/2010 20:15

No - only this one. May get another for my birthday though (next month.) I also like Billy Blanks.

sue52 · 08/12/2010 21:06

Just looked up Billy Banks. Bloody Hell, he makes Jillian look a bit wimpy!

mrsissue · 08/12/2010 21:31

Hello ladies, I thought I would share my story of success because I?m so happy! Today is my birthday and what would be my 31st day of shred, I have been doing WW as well for 2 months. In the last 2 months I have lost just over 1 ½ stone. The last two weeks I haven?t lost that much weight so have been a little peed off but today I went jean shopping with my birthday money and I have dropped 4 dress sizes! The jeans I bought are a size 12, I almost danced around the bloody shop. I think I might even be able to get into a size 10 as the size 12 I wore out tonight have been sliding down and annoying me. Also yesterday I managed to do two sets of proper push ups (non girly) and I?m so happy and proud I thought I would share this for the people who are just starting to shred and might be dishearten. Jillian is right jean shopping is what you need to think about because it felt excellent today! P.S. the Billy Banks is an old council estate where I?m from :)

notyummy · 08/12/2010 21:41

Blanks- not Banks!! Well done mrsissue!

NicknameInUse · 08/12/2010 21:57

Oh wow mrsisue! That's amazing! Well done and happy birthday! Bet that's the best birthday present you've had huh? Grin
Thanks very much for sharing - it's definately a big motivation boost!!

nomorecake · 08/12/2010 23:01

i want that Mrsissue.

havent had a chance to do day 16 all day..but think i'm going to make myself do it now.

Plank jacks, mountain climbs, plank twist etc putting me off argh i dont wanna do it..

Billy Banks taebo- done it before, prefer shred.

dragging my heels now.... ok, ok, i'm going....

oh oh, did anyone see apprentice this evening?..

ok going to shred now...

MsFaithless · 08/12/2010 23:53

Thank god I found you, I had begun to think Gillian was persecuting me and me alone!

Managed 6 days on level 1 with the requisite agony and not being able to lower myself on to the loo in an elegant manner then fell foul of gastric flu so no shredding for 5 days.

First day back was a (relative) walk in the park, no agony although mucho sweating, swearing and turning puce...

Contemplating level 2, please hold my hand...

nomorecake · 08/12/2010 23:53

done. showered. going to bed.
while i was on the floor attempted a 'natalie' walking plank (level3) couldnt even do one. Angry

MsFaithless · 09/12/2010 00:12

Natalie may not be human (strange rictus grin anyone?) NMC so I wouldn't feel bad.

Well done you for shredding a this time of night.

NicknameInUse · 09/12/2010 08:43

MsFaithless, so you escaped Killian clutches...and then returned? What's wrong with you?!

Have a go at Level 2, swearing and faces of puce just isn't enough suffering here Grin

I love Natalie, her fake puffing exhales to make us think she's 'one of us' are priceless.
