Wow Mrsissue, that is fantastic, what a great shopping trip. If only mine would go so well Grin.

Day 18 for me and I'm feeling a little hacked off with level 2 killing me so just did level 1 today. It was fab. Feel re-energised for shredding and not just a useless lump who hates all of level 2. I also managed 5.....yes that's 5, real, press ups. Shock

Notyummy, I love all the advice you give. Lostgirl is another who seems to be a shredding oracle. Your tips and advice are so helpful so please don't think you come across as a smug know it all. You don't at all.

Joby1970 · 09/12/2010 13:54

Mrsissue: that's amazing - did you want to wander around the shop with the size showing - i did when it happened to me.

Just done day 2 of level 1. My neck and shoulders are in quite a bit of discomfort though the rest of me is fine. Any idea how many sessions it takes before the pain goes or your body gets used to it?
I've still got my favourite pair of pre pregnancy jeans (more than 25 years old), if I can get into them again it would be fantastic and a bit of a miracle.

notyummy · 09/12/2010 16:25

I am sure you can Sue. I also have a pair of jeans that are 18 years old (bought when I was 21!) I keep these as my barometer - to stop me getting obsessed with weight. If these fit reasonably comfortably, then I am ok. If I can't get them done up (as has been the case at various times over 18 years...) then it is time to stop eating as many pies and exercise more.

nomorecake · 09/12/2010 17:11

i with you on that chocoholic.
i hate level 2, and dont seem to be making much progress on it.
was considering doing level 1 instead last night, may do it later.

redderthanred · 09/12/2010 20:43

Day 18 done. Have decided I love circuit 2. Esp the cardio.two more days on level two and then I'm into level 3. Which is not anything I ever thought possible
I'm also hugely impressed with myself as I did the straight leg walking push UPS with a proper press up st the end. Couldn't even do the girl ones when I started
I am having a problem with my shins though. They are so tight on the last circuit and really hurt then afterwards for s few hours they really really hurt any advice?

LostGirl · 09/12/2010 21:05

Google 'shin stretches' and try doing some stretching exercises after you shred. You could also do them at other points during the day when your muscles are warm such as when you've just got out of the bath or come in from a walk.

MickyLee · 10/12/2010 05:44

Ooo.. guess what I bought yesterday??

A pair of proper trainers. I feel all sporty! I went into the shop and told them I do lots of excersise and running(not qiute yet but intend too) and i need really good suppoetive training shoes for the job. God i felt proud!

Can't wait to try them out later Grin

redderthanred · 10/12/2010 07:43

wow. How good did it feel to say ' i do lots of exercise and running'

:)

amazing.

Day 19 done.

Having decided i love circuit 2 i inanely grinned all the way through it.

I cant believe its my last day of level 2 tomorrow. I honestly am amazed at myself.

prettybirdinapeartree · 10/12/2010 10:43

Nomorecake: that is what I was like forst time round on the Shred with the Level 3 Walking Planks. There was absolutely no way I could move from forearms onto a straight arm Shock:(

I have just completed a full set of walking planks on the 4th Day of the 2nd time round on Level 3 :):)

Feeling really proud of myself :)

chocoholic · 10/12/2010 12:58

Redder, you are mad, how can you like circuit 2? All those squatsShock.

Back to level 2 for me today and day 19 done.

Micky, I love having new trainers, it makes the exercise go more quickly as I'm thinking about the trainers instead of the pain.

Still no weight loss for me (might help if I stopped munching mince pies Blush). I looked back at the old thread and noticed someone has a sort of diet protein shake for lunch so have ordered some. It sounds a bit like slim fast but I'm sure it is better for you than that.

Happy shredding everyone.

LostGirl · 10/12/2010 13:09

Chocoholic, protein shakes are generally used as a convenient way to get protein to your muscles wuickly as a post workout snack, they don't generally contain enough calories/nutrients to actually replace a meal. Are you noticing any changes in your body/fitness levels yet?

redderthanred · 10/12/2010 13:34

there arent really any squats in circuit 2.( level 2)
Its the static lunges. the moving lunges.
the most excellent jumping oblique twists ( i love these) and the ski sliders things. ( which i also love)

then the killer abs.

I think mostly i like the cardio bit. lol. I may have gone insane :)

MickyLee · 10/12/2010 15:06

Day 19 done. Only one more level 2 for me too!

I was doing barefoot before and trainers made a massive difference and great for the sqaut thrust moves.

I was thinking about getting some whey protein too. I put my daily food into Fitday and i don't eat enough protein at all.

Yes redder it was great saying ' I do lots of exercise' Oh and thats just the start.

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 10/12/2010 16:05

Just done day five, level 1. noticing a difference in my fitness levels already. I did the push ups better than ever before, which is something I've always struggled with. I do the lady ones. I did todays with the heating on and without a drink! not on purpose, I just forgot about both! But I certainly sweated more!

I find the butt kicks really make my shins ache. Is this something anyone else has found?

I'm looking forward to level 2. i really enjoy cardio.

chocoholic · 10/12/2010 16:37

Lostgirl, I'm def fitter and have more muscle just no sign of any weight loss. So protein shake for a snack then? I'll give it a try see if it helps. Smile

Sorry Redder, I meant lunges not squats. It's the moving ones that get me, my legs turn to jelly. I too like skaters and the twist ones, always so glad to reach them.

mrsissue · 10/12/2010 20:09

Joby ? it was amazing and I really did want to tell the shop but my mum beat me too it, I could hear her telling a man outside the changing room ?oh she?s so happy she?s lost loads of weight?.

I think my size 12 jeans really are too big and I?m going to need to get a 10! It feels so sudden but I think I?m going to start considering myself a skinny person, although I still have another stone to loose.

On a shredding note today I started doing level one again but with heavier weights and keeping them during cardio. I have even start to think about muscle definition and not just weight loss.

chocoholic try mini mince pies that what i'm eating but obiviously only going to work if you dont double up because their smaller Grin

LostGirl · 10/12/2010 21:29

Chocoholic, in only 19 days of shredding you will have built far less than a lb of muscle to be honest, but the fact that you feel like you have got more shows that you have lost fat and you can see more of the muscle that you do have which is fantastic and means so much more than the number on the scales.

nomorecake · 10/12/2010 21:53

Thanks Pretty!

there's hope for me yet then.

i missed another workout yesterday.
i've been in a really bad mood about it last night and today. but on the other hand i hate level 2.

those twisty jumps and double ab crunches kill me off everytime.

if i get one in tonight it was be workout17 in 19 days. MUST stay on track.

TheGruffaloMami · 10/12/2010 23:09

I am now the proud owner of this DVD which is staring at me from the corner of the room. This thread has terrified and inspired me in equal measures. I intend making a start tomorrow morning. :scared:

notyummy · 11/12/2010 07:33

Good luck Gruffalo!

mrsissue · 11/12/2010 09:29

lostgirl Sorry to jump in on your response to chocoholic but how quickly do people averagely gain muscle then? Because I would quite like to start looking a bit more toned now I have less fat.

Also i've just seen a Jillian t-shirt that has her face on it, telling you 'to finish it'! Thought it was excellent.

LostGirl · 11/12/2010 13:10

mrsissue everyone is different obviously but men have to work hard to build muscle and they have the advantage of having high levels of testosterone which we (most of us anyway) don't have. The programme I followed over the last 6 months said that if you followed the nutrition guide lines with regards to the amount of protein you should be eating when training, extra calories on days you workout etc then you would be lucky to build ten pounds of muscle at the most over the 6 months. No two people are ever going to have the same results from any workout programme though as we are all so different. Now that you have less fat as you say, if you want to look more 'toned' then you need to build more muscle, and to build more muscle you need to lift heavier weights.

chocoholic · 11/12/2010 14:08

If only fat was that hard to make Grin.

Nomorecake, do a day on level 1 again. I felt so much better after doing it and it's not like you are taking it easy by doing it. Just a bit of a break from the horrible level 2.

sue52 · 11/12/2010 14:46

Day 4 level 1 complete. Moved up from the .5kg to 1kg weights. Are you supposed to stay on level 1 for 10 days?

lostgirl* are those slimfast type things the same as protein shakes?
