Your body CAN be holding to that amount of water because your muscles need it to recover and repair. Seriously, you have lost inches, you are smaller, why does it matter that the scales don't say that? According to my BMI which I just worked out I am just inside the healthy range, right on the upper limit. I am 5 foot 6, wear a size 10, have a 26 inch waist but weigh over 10 and half stone. Should I be trying to lose weight just for the sake of making the scales show the number I feel reflects my size?

LostGirl · 05/12/2010 16:39

Dandylioness, congratulations Grin

redderthanred · 05/12/2010 17:36

I know. I think I'm just going to go by measurements for the moment. I'm wearing a pair of jeans that I know only fit at a stone lighter that I am at the momment. So I am smaller. I suppose st some point the scale will tip in the other way, right ?

NicknameInUse · 05/12/2010 18:24

Urgh damn knees are still bad. All I can do for cardio is jog on the spot and I can't do any squating etc at all anymore Sad
I'm on day 12 (I think) but it's not the proper Shred so I'm going to stop counting and just do my shit revised version until my knees have recovered. So gutted! Sad

LostGirl · 05/12/2010 18:34

redder, yes they probably will tip the way you want them to, but would it really matter if they didn't? Congratulations on fitting into your jeans, that's great. That's what you should focus on, not the numbers.

mummyshreddingnora · 05/12/2010 20:03

Day 10 complete here! My god it was a tough one!!!

mummyshreddingnora · 05/12/2010 21:02

Help me! I need a wee but cant get up!

bumpybecky · 05/12/2010 23:35

I missed yesterday (day 3) so was a bit worried I'd be back where I started, but today was OK :) I'm managing to do more of the exercises properly too (but do still cheat a little bit).

I hit the ceiling doing jumping jacks earlier!

MickyLee · 06/12/2010 05:59

Did you end up weeing yourself nora Grin

mummyshreddingnora · 06/12/2010 10:37

no micky - moaned until DH helped me Xmas Wink

chocoholic · 06/12/2010 11:14

I had the weekend off and back to it today.

Really didn't feel like doing it but day 16 complete. Only 4 more days of the dreaded level 2 and I can change to level 3 (oh I so hope I'm better at that one).

Advice for any new starters; don't be in any hurry to get to level 2, stay on level 1 for the full 10 days. I so wish I had.

Back later to read how everyone got on over the weekend.

MickyLee · 06/12/2010 12:48

Day 17 finished.. can't quite believe I have done 17 days already!!

I can honestly say level 2 is getting easier at last.. yay!

Joby1970 · 06/12/2010 13:24

Again I agree with Lost girl. I am 11 stone 4 lbs & 5 foot five tall. According to stats I should be between 8 stone 12 (maybe if I chopped off a leg) and 10 stone 10!

Obv I'm heavier than that; however I wear M&S size 10 jeans & my measurements are

39-29-39

which looks pretty good in clothes. I long ago gave up being bothered about what I weigh - it's just another measurement & not one that is necessary for a healthy lifestyle.

I am the fittest I have ever been in my life & the happiest with my body.

STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALES & pick up a tape measure

Choc - most people find level 2 a killer; don't be disheartened!

Agree about the weight. Waist size/body fat % probably less of a blunt instrument.

ALovelyBunchOfBaubles · 06/12/2010 15:48

DVD came today and just done day 1. DD was doing them with me (she's only 2.7) so it was pretty funny! How many days on level 1 until I move to level 2? and Level 3? I was following Natalie and my legs are pretty shaky but didn't need to stop for a drink. Forgot to measure myself though so will get DH to help me with that later.

Pretty proud of myself. Although I was using two jars of homepride at only 500g as I don't have weights so with weight it would probably kill me!!

I'm 5'9" and 11st 9lbs apparently I should be about 10st but I haven't been that since I was at school! Definitely think it's not all about weight.

MickyLee · 06/12/2010 16:55

Calulated my body fat online, by measurments of my waist, hips and neck, my height and maybe something else. Is this an accurate way of finding out a body fat % do you know lostgirl? It said I was 24%, is that good?
Should I keep checking that to see my progress do you think?

Joby1970 · 06/12/2010 17:17

for me its the tape measure that tells all

Lovely- think 10stone is a harsh target. I am 5 ft 9.5, am 10.5 stone and wear a 10. Fairly toned at that waist and a 26.5 waist. Shame about the pear shaped bottom!

24% body fat good and healthy and would indicate you are no way overweight- is that the case? You could aim lower if you want, but not necessary. Also depends on your age. You can get machines (scales) that do it although there is z margin of error. My understanding is that the best way is via calipers and measurements, but that needs to be done by a pro.

MickyLee · 06/12/2010 17:58

I don't want to lose weight, just my jelly belly, cellulited stomach. Does look better since shreding though but still have that muffin top!

MickyLee · 06/12/2010 17:59

redder don't you dare let the team down!

chocoholic · 06/12/2010 18:26

Sending a kick your way redder.

You will spend the evening feeling crap if you don't do it.

redderthanred · 06/12/2010 19:49

ok. am dressed and ready to do it.

( note to self... this is why you need to do it first thing in the morning)
