Can I join? I'm on day 2 of second attempt - did three days then dh had a week off work and we were out all day and didn't fancy doing 'jumping jacks' in front of dh because breastfeeding breasts hit my chin...

am finding bits quite easy and bits (first circuit of level 1) quite tough. Think I need to change weights more often.

Slobbadan · 01/12/2010 10:29

Morning all, well done to all those hard core Shredders who are moving up a level.

I just completed day 5 and im shattered now, managed to get hold of some 1.25 weights (cant remember if that was kilos or lbs? must look) so can ditch my water bottles now.

Prettybird, i have to shred with a 2.5yr old and my 5.5yr old, at weekends and they were off school till today or else i would never do it.

TheLastMelon · 01/12/2010 10:30

I measured myself today :) Have been doing the shred for 5 days, mostly twice a day. Didn't measure myself before shredding but on day 3. So since 2 days ago I have lost

W- 1 inch
H- 1 inch
A- 0.5
T- 1 inch

OMG! Have measured and remeasured in disbelief!
Most importantly my jeans do feel looser!
:) Cant wait to see what my measurements will be this time next week!

C'mon guys we can do it!

prettybird · 01/12/2010 10:39

it's my excsue and I'm sticking to it Grin says I stubbornly.

Ds is 10 - so that wee bit more capable of making rude comments Hmm - and of hogging the living room to watch TV although he is currently upstairs doing his homework so I have no excuse

Slobbadan · 01/12/2010 10:45

Thelastmelon, i also done some sneaky measurments but not doing full ones till sat but i have lost 1 inch of each are and leg! Nothing else where tho.

redderthanred · 01/12/2010 10:51

Do you think i should do it again later today seeing as this mornings attempt was so lackluster????

I did do it. just didnt put much into it and im now feeling guilty.

But, on the plus side i am, today wearing jeans ive not been able to wear since june. ( when i put on a whole load of weight)

AND, saw some work people from a different office, who ive not seen for two weeks who were gobsmaked about the amount of weight ive lost and are now calling me slim jim.

Grin

Chance would be a fine thing, being a comftable size 14 ( rather than a bulging at the seams one ten days ago) i am however, on my way.

Also, have been thinking, post shred what i should do.

Ive brought her banish fat, raise metabolism dvd. i was thinking of doing this 3x a week and the shred 3 x a week ( day on each level) and then swimming one day a week.

Hows that? ok? not ok? unrealistic?

redderthanred · 01/12/2010 10:53

The last melon - fab inch loss. Well done :)

pretty bird. can you not relegate him to his room for half and hour, and bribe with a biscuit???

TheLastMelon · 01/12/2010 11:01

Thank you redderthanred :)

mummyshreddingnora · 01/12/2010 11:11

I am planning on keeping going and eventually building up to doing 2 workouts! Confused Hmm

Slobbadan · 01/12/2010 11:15

rederthanred, i plan to shred untill spring doing each level and then maybe if i feel its not enough do for eg level 2,3 back to back. As when tehe weather gets better (and im hopefully thinner and fitter) i am going to do the Couch to 5k and start running 3 times a week over the summer and prob find some other kind of dvd to do at home next winter (or i will shred again).

Tis the plan anyway.

redderthanred · 01/12/2010 11:18

hmmm. its just that i thought it wasnt good to keep doing the same thing as your body gets used to it and so it isnt so effective.

or, would shredding with weights, and changing the levels daily be enough??

I like it because its so quick. I can fit 20 mins in.

maybe i could shred 3 x a week ( of my 4 working days) swim 2 mils on my day off and do the 40 min new dvd on the weekends.

that way id also have a day off.

Slobbadan · 01/12/2010 11:47

Never thought about our body getting used to it! but i think it will take me till march to get to level 3 as im going to keep doing level 1 till i can do the push ups propperly and be able to follow natalie more, then move up to the next level.

Also i might start Zumba again when the nights are lighter as i dont like walking home in the dark at 8.30pm and i dont drive (not justifiyable in a taxi either!).

I have just been on Sports Direct website looking at fitness wear as wearing my PJs or ancient trackies will not do!

MickyLee · 01/12/2010 12:26

redder Great minds hink alike.. I was wanting to buy the same dvd and do the same programme as you!!! except for the swimming.

If you feel like doing another shred, do.. maybe at level 1 instead.

Day 12 done for me today

DilysPrice · 01/12/2010 14:00

Day 30 seems like a very long way off to me. Realistically it'll be almost Xmas by the time I get there, and I'll have to take a few days off over Xmas, so I thought I'd shred every day I can until New Year and then perhaps get one or two of Jillians other DVDs and do them every other day until Spring begins.

MickyLee · 01/12/2010 14:04

My measurments so far after 12 days.

(Not massive to start so not as much as some of you girls)

Waist
was 28.3in
now 27in
loss 1.3in

Hips
was 34.5in
now 34.5in
loss 1in

L.leg
was 19.7in
now 19.3in
loss 0.5in

L.arm
was 10.6in
now 10.2in
loss 0.4in

MickyLee · 01/12/2010 14:07

Sorry
Hips was 34.6
now 34.4
loss 0.2

Not bad though considering I am a size 8 to begin with and not changed diet at all.

MickyLee · 01/12/2010 14:10

Just read back my comment 'Not massive to start so not as much as some of you girls'

Sounds like I am saying you lot are massive which I really did not mean

NicknameInUse · 01/12/2010 14:23

Yeah yeah, no need to rub it in Micky! Wink
That's some really impressive inch loss considering you're only a size 8! You must be looking fab! Well done Grin

Day 8 done for me. Having big trouble with my knees (they've always been really bad) and I'm not able to do the star jumps at the moment so having to replace them with bum kicks/skipping (depending on how brave I'm feeling!). They're all strapped up and making me really frustrated because I can't push myself as much as I need to with the squats etc. Sad

selfishmum · 01/12/2010 14:37

I just came on this thread to see if anyone else is having knee problems!

I am too! Too many squats and jumping for my poor knee. I'm doing my best but if I can't do it, then I'm running on the spot for any that I can't do.

Am on Day 7!

chocoholic · 01/12/2010 14:37

All this exercise and inch loss, it's quite amazing. Keep at it everyone.
Micky, you need to stop so I can shrink down a bit (well, quite a lot really) to your size first. Grin

Red, you are doing fantastically well. One day of lower enthusiam shouldn't make a bit of difference in the scheme of things. You are putting in so much the rest of the time. Good luck on level 2 tomorrow.

Day 13 for me and a bit of a breakthrough with level 2. I actually got through it without collapsing on the floor at the end. Obviously still a huge sweaty mess but I could stand!!! Grin

HonestyBox · 01/12/2010 17:31

I did day one of the shred today using a 1kg bag of rice in one hand and a bag of sugar in the other Blush, at least the curtains were closed. Must sort out weights.

I found it okay - interesting that some exercises seem easy for me and some just kill me, this must be the same for everyone right?

I'm good with the arse kicks and all the cardio stuff. Can not do a press-up and have never been able to in my life. I can manage about 5 of the modified version at a push - and that is with putting my belly on the floor. The one where you have to raise your arms up in front of you with the weights is a desperate struggle and fear my 'punching' is not very convincing.

Other than this, looking forward to looking hawt by Christmas so I can undo all the good work with my mince pie fixation.

prettybird · 01/12/2010 17:46

I was aboslutely crap at press-ups too - and am now just about doing the full set of advanced push ups (from elbow plank position) in Level 3 Shock - second time around on the Shred.

Someone on here advised trying building up to "real" press-ups by starting in "just off" stadning position and (eg against a sofa) and gradually moving your feet out/your hands lower (eg onto a coffee table) as your arms get stronger. Apart from the fact that most of my furniture moved if I tried to do that (eventually found that my solid oak super-king size bed could take the strain without budging) I think the few I tried that was did help. You could probably try it on stairs as well.

HonestyBox · 01/12/2010 17:52

Thanks, I will go and try that out on the stairs now. Glad to hear you are now doing proper press ups Shock, I cannot imagine ever being able to do even one.

prettybird · 01/12/2010 18:13

First time around I was doing the girlie bent leg push-ups in Level 1. By the end of my first 10 days, I could do a marginal bend of my elbows on the full version before reverting to the wimps easy version. It was when complaining about the impossibility of the advanced push-ups in Level 3 that I was given the advice about the "sloping" body to begin to get your arms getting used to your body weight (which the bent leg versions don't really do).

Second time around on the Shred I was pleasantly surpised to find that I could do the "real" press-ups in Level 1 (OK, myabe my nose didn't always get close to the floor WinkBlush). Just after I started Level 2 again, I was showing dh how the Level 3 press-up was still impossible - so I was again pleasnatly surprised yesterday when I started on Level 3 again to find that I could do a few Shock:) - even if it does involve a vast amount of effort and I have to do them more slowly than Natalie and she do them! GrinBlush

redderthanred · 01/12/2010 19:23

Ive just sat and watched level 2.

You have GOT to me KIDDING me, right?????

Seriously.

I dont think i can do it.
Im going to get up at 6 amd give it a damn good go, and it will be anita all the way, but bloody hell.
