Oh hell ladies sorry to be the voice of doom for consolidation but I can't get it working at all. Sad.
First of all I didn't dare eat all the extras and just added in the fruit and a couple of ryvita as my bread. I carried on losing weight.
Then I ate a bit more of the Dukan staples than I had been doing. We are not talking full out binging here - an 8 oz steak with salad on a birthday night out and some extra cold chicken or cottage cheese. - I have gained 5 ib in 5 days!!!!!!! - No proper cheese, No pasta, no rice no celebration meals Sad Shock.

What the hell should I do???? For the first time I feel really disheartened. I have been so careful and it isn't going to work for me. To be honest I don't know whether to cry or eat a big bar of chocolate.

robin3 · 15/10/2010 14:43

WST....goodness you must be annoyed...sorry to hear that.

What was the timeframe of all of this and how much more did you loose after going on consolidation?
Just wondering if the weight loss after you stopped was just temporary. I know nothing but seems too big a swing to be permanent...water retention? body adjusting a little? The size of the portions of meat shouldn't make any difference. The steak is allowed anyway isn't it.

If it's a short timeframe, i think all you can do is eat exactly what Dr D says, without replacing or omitting anything and see if it levels out.

WorldsSlowestTypist · 15/10/2010 14:57

Trouble is Robin, that I feel that this has just confirmed my fears about adding in the consolidation extras. I just dare not eat more - Can you imagine what a celebration meal would do to me???!!!!
On the other hand I can't live on such a tough diet forever. I feel like it has all been for nothing and the weight is inevitably going to pile back on in a matter of weeks. Sad

In terms of time scales I was about a month on the consolidation "lite" - where I just added fruit and 2 ryvita.I lost another 6 lb doing this.I didn't want to lose any more so I have been eating a little more since Monday (only Dukan friendly foods) during which time I have gained 5 lb.

cairns · 15/10/2010 15:05

Hello ladies

I'd like to join you if I may. I have around 20lbs to
lose to my 'dukan' target weight and I am on day 2 of attack. All going well so far, even managed to cook the galette which is some feat for my cooking skills :)

I have been so inspired by Reading through this thread and a friend of mine has just lost 2 stone with dukan, so something must be working so hoping I can stick at it

my only problem is I have mil ( a big foodie) visiting soon so will need to devise a plan of action for then so as to avoid comments ( she is likely to disapprove!) but apart from that I am fairly determined, this baby belly needs to go.

WorldsSlowestTypist · 15/10/2010 15:12

Hello Cairns,
Will you be able to time your cruise days around your MILs visit? PV days can be done without looking too wierd. If you have to do a pp day in her company you will have to brace yourself for some very puzzled looks.

cairns · 15/10/2010 15:27

I think I'll have to, although she is here for 3 days so will probably do all PV and then 3 days of P again. I am sure I can do it , will just need to devise a clever menu in advance. I never plan food so Dukan is helpful in a way to change my mindset as I have already been working out what to have each day for supper and lunch which is great!

robin3 · 15/10/2010 15:39

WST....if you are only one pound up on your original target weight maybe that just proves it was your target weight IYSWIM. Maybe to maintain a weight below that means you literally have to live pure Dukan which defeats the point? Would you be happy if you could just maintain the weight you lost originally i.e. to the target?

Also, do you feel like you've gained weight because if your clothes fit the same as they did 6lbs lighter, the chances are you haven't gained it really. Also I dont think it's possible to gain 5lbs in one week given what you have eaten....can't be right. Drink lots of water and weigh again in the morning....hold firm it can't be right.

WorldsSlowestTypist · 15/10/2010 15:54

Robin, you make it sound like a real test of faith! Am I a true believer???? I must pledge allegance to the Good Doctor and all will be well!!!Wink

Seriously I would be happy if I could stabilize at my current weight, I just can't see it happening.Sad

robin3 · 15/10/2010 16:00

Sorry, not sure what else to say. You've done so well.
Tis a test of faith of a sorts for me....Friday pm work trolley of wine and crisps will appear very soon and I will need to dig very deep to not enjoy any of it. Off to hide in a meeting room.

WorldsSlowestTypist · 15/10/2010 16:11

Oh wow that must be hard. Have to say I am quite impressed by the sound of an employer who provides Friday night wine though!

Feelingsensitive · 16/10/2010 00:04

Thank you to you all. I restarted the attack this week and promtly fell off the wagon. I will clmaber back on as of tomorrow. I ahve 24lbs to gt to my true weight but think 21lbs is where I would like to be. How do you cope with going out?

orienteerer · 16/10/2010 09:21

I fell off the wagon last night on day 5 of attack (large glass of wine).....but amazingly lost 1lbGrin.

robin3 · 16/10/2010 17:05

Me too. Avoided the wine at work. Got home and a friend popped round with a bottle of wine. I didnt want to explain my diet situation so polished off 3/4 of a bottle of wine with no food. This morning down another 1lb. Amazingly in my hungover blur I resisted the carbs and started again on PP so at least pleased with that. So there is another alternative...wine for dinner loose 1lb...I might write a book. Grin

orienteerer · 16/10/2010 17:29

robin3 - I think we might be on to somethingGrin

cairns · 17/10/2010 19:34

Hi Ladies

How are you all doing. Well I have been doing surprisingly well with keeping in line but I am putting that down to the simplicity of it to follow plus the enthusiasm for just starting things (despite DH's best efforts of troughing crisps and wine last night). A saving grace is I can still have a small latte which has been really helpful. I am feeling much better today now my blood sugars have stabilised, had quite a tiring few days. So far 3lbs off (day4) and feeling a lot less bloated already... roll on Dukan.

I think I will find the wine thing a bit hard too, although it is good to give the old liver a rest for a while.

orienteerer · 17/10/2010 20:44

I have to admit I'm already finding the whole thing a bit boring. I'm on day 7 (2nd day of cruise) and really can't imagine having to spend every other day for the next few weeks on the attack diet (and I do like meat, eggs & yog).

Feelingsensitive · 17/10/2010 21:08

Have decided this is not for me. I am struggling with eating so much meat and TBH our shopping budget cant stretch to it either! However, on a bright note I think this does work if you have the tenacity to stick to it. I have learnt loads and will now be looking for a low carb diet rather than a no carb diet. Best of luck to you all.

that must have been fab, Londonlottie :)

I haven't dared weigh myself after weekend away. I managed to dip below the 11 stone mark last week and I don't want to step on the scales and spoil it yet! Back on the diet again today.

SnowieBear · 18/10/2010 12:44

Hi Robin, sorry, I disappeared for the weekend!

Yes, it does still feel for me as being on a diet, but with tidbits to look forward to. After all, its PV days all week except for celebration meal, your weekly portion of carbs and the extras.

I am most definitely having the celebration meal and the weekly carbs - I've had two celebration meals so far, one included pizza and brownies with icecream, latest one on Friday was cod in a mornay sauce with chips, a glass of wine and limoncello for afters. I'm a bit more restrained with the weekly portion of carbs - I cook some healthy pasta with chicken and plently of veg and sprinkle with grated parmesan.

The extras... Hmm Well, I'm having a slice of toasted wholemeal with my breakfast, but I really don't know where to fit the other one into my diet! I did on Saturday night when I had it with as a mini sarnie with some tomato slices and my cheese allowance. The cheese, though I'm a confirmed chees-o-holic, I don't have every day (I forget!). I tend to have a small apple as a snack between lunch and dinner, during the diet I snacked on crab sticks instead.

WST so sorry to hear it isn't working for you! You are quite right, it's like a leap of faith, I think the trick may be to follow it to the letter as much as possible, just like attack and cruise. Let us know how you are getting on, please.

SnowieBear · 18/10/2010 12:45

Forgot to add! Yes, PP Thursdays are strange, but boy do they work!

PandaBear · 18/10/2010 13:23

Hi All - it's great to hear how you're all doing. It's really nice to know that others are going through the same deprivation as me Wink. That being said, another badish weekend for me - had a lovely Indian takeaway, but I did drop the Nan bread and sag aloo dish and only had a bit of rice - so bad, but nowhere near as bad as i'd usually be. I guess it's all about learning moderation, in the long run - so that seems to be going well. Mind you, I will not get back on the scales until mid week - don't want to get disheartened. How do you all manage to avoid the goodies at the weekend?

WorldsSlowestTypist · 18/10/2010 20:43

I am afraid that I have fallen off the wagon with an almighty thud. Sad Dispair has got the better of me and I am completely unable to get back in the dukan zone. I have been eating choc and bread and drinking wine so my carb addiction has taken hold again.
HELP!!!!! Please ladies before I do too much damage - How can I remotivate myself?

orienteerer · 18/10/2010 21:09

WorldsST - I'm afraid I'm with you. I've only done 8 days and I can't stand it any longerSad.
