Ok gals,

I have been seriously naughty. Two of those sugar free chocolate bars from Holland and barratt, two big wedges of home made apple sponge cake, two greek pastries and I still lost weight! Only 0.5lb but still a loss. I sometimes wonder if I am not eating enough calories and that is why my weight loss has been slow???

For everyone who has fallen off the wagon, I think as long as you are good 80% of the time, a bit of a cheat won't hurt. Today i have eaten a breadless crayfush and avocado salad for lunch because I was out and stuck for what to eat that wasn't bread so lets see if the avocado has made a difference tomorrow...

zaazaa · 19/10/2010 14:13

I agree Lottie, generally speaking I feel much better and no bloating since being virtually carb free

kdk · 19/10/2010 14:29

Hi all

have seriously lapsed yesterday (and a bit on Friday but let's forget that one!) as had to go to the Passport Office for new emergency passport. Couldn't find anything suitable to eat so ended up having a chicken baguette ... and fries. Then got fed up and ate lots of mini chocolate caramel shortbread thingies ...

Oh well, back to the drawing board then ...

Think one thing that has been pissing me off is that even when I had been sticking to Dukan I'd only lost 4 - 4.5 lb in three weeks. Surely should be more? Can anyone look at a typical day's PP and say whether I should be eating less/more/different stuff altogether?

Breakfast - galette made with either 1.5 tb oatbran or 2tb and sprinkle of wheatbran plus 0% fat greek yog with lemon and splenda

Lunch - between three and eight slices of ham/beef/chicken, smokes salmon, maybe a few prawns, gherkin or pickled cucumber - sometimes a hard boiled egg or fat free yog

Dinner - steak or chicken or fish plus fat free yog with lemon juice/splenda or mullerlite toffee flavour or shapers fruit yog.

Drink - about 8 or 9 glasses of water, about three coffees, two teas with skimmed milk, occasional cup of green tea with lemon

On PV days, same as above only have veg with dinner and salad and maybe a few toms with lunch.

Any suggestions as to what I should do differently? Am trying to do the 20 - 30 mins walk a day or do exercise at home if that's not possible.

Another query (sorry!) I'm going on holiday on Friday for 8 days - should I just try to be as low-carb/low fat as possible as won't be possible to do full on Dukan? Or just be careful and restart attack on return?

zaazaa · 19/10/2010 15:36

kdk,

i feel your pain because i have been thoroughly virtuous and righteous on this diet and only lost 7 pounds in total after nearly a month. I don't know why as like you , I eat my galette with smoked salmon and 0% fat total greek yoghurt. I eat lean meat slices for snacks, boiled eggs and only lean chicken/meat/fish with veggies, usually mushrooms/asparagus or broccoli cooked without fat on PV days. I too am at a total loss (or maybe wish I was) to know why it hasn't fallen off like it has eith other people. I am not a skinny lass, currently size 16 apple shape and 13.5 stones and I should be around 10 - 10.5 stones so theoretically, it should have dropped off me. it has only been this last weekend (TOTM) that I cheated and I still managed to lose half a pound! What gives?

If anyone knows please let us know... I'd love to see your responses to kdk's question

Call me a whimp, I don't mindGrin, but I'm afraid I'm leaving you all for the moment at least. After 8 days I've lost 4-5lbs but there is no way I can carry on......it's just sooooooooo boooring. I now know that a 3-5 day PP will reduce water/bloating but I can't stay with it long termSad. Good luck.

ihatethecold · 20/10/2010 17:34

hi dukanners, im with you on the last couple of posts, i have lost about 6lbs in a month, it seems to all go in the first week, have had a diet like KDK but dont feel im getting any lighter,
although totm has thrown me. i cant stomach protein for the past few days so i have been having more vegs. have cheated a little (toast, Chocolate), but not gone overboard.
i am statrting to get soooo bored of just protein.. aaahh what to do.

PrudencePie · 20/10/2010 19:57

Hi Ladies
I am enjoying reading all your comments as it keeps me going knowing there are other Dukan Soldiers out there trying as hard as I am...actually I am finding this diet a breeze truth be told. Having cobbled together my own Dukan plan from the internet I bought Dr Dukan's book the other day and have to say he is a GENIUS!
Variety is the key to this plan so wondered if you might like some of these to try:

  1. anyone making porridge with their oatmeal - it's fab (and you can vary it by adding low fat chocolate powder)
  2. Custard! Can eat loads: 3 yolks, pint of skimmed milk, vanilla essence, a little cornflour and splenda to taste and whisk up over heat - delicious!
  3. Crabsticks are a great snack!
4.Fajita's with extra lean mince, fajita seasoning, chillies, onion wrapped in cos leaves with 0% fat yoghurt and chopped cabbage, carrots, onion.
  1. Put those mullerlights in the freezer ladies, esp. the new cherry vanilla choc - it is amazingand intensifies the taste!
  2. Fish boullabaise - 3 white fish fillets, 3 salmon steaks, bag of prawns, onion, basil, water, stock cube, tin of tomatoes, butternut squash chopped and heat then simmer - delish!
  3. I do my gallettes in the microwave and add loads of lemon and splenda - lovely!
  4. Dukan vanilla moist muffins - delish - just google on internet for recipe

Am now down 24lbs after 4.5 weeks (another 40 odd to go...) and swear by drinking a lot of water in the morning after my oatmeal!

Best wishes to you all xxxx

Ps. Dr Dukan swears by eating cold foods, ice cubes, iced drinks and cold showers on arterial points as you burn a whole load more calories and can lose an extra 2-4lbs a month.

zaazaa · 20/10/2010 19:57

OK girls, let's get back on track. 7lbs is the MOST I have lost on any diet in the last year so it is working. LKet's all get back to what we were doing to lose and find our mojo's again as lottie says Wink

kdk,

Hi, I have come on here to give you a boost. I know how hard it is when you are really trying and the weight loss has slowed.

Your hormones can play a big part in this diet. Around the time of your period you will find the weight loss slows or stops for a few days.

I lost the majority of my weight by only having veg a couple of times a week and sticking almost exclusively to protein only.

My typical day would be-

B/fast, yogurt (activia) with oatbran added.
bacon and eggs

Lunch, a packet of chicken and a packet of ham

Dinner, piece of steak and prawns no fat muller yogurt.

When you are holiday try to have protein only, every other day and have a treat on the other day. That way if you put on weight one day you will lose it the next day.

Keep up with the water and if the weight loss has slowed a really good hard workout will start it again.

Also measure your body parts as sometimes you will lose inches rather than actual weight on the scales.

ihatethecold · 22/10/2010 09:03

can i ask?
how is everyone's skin??
i have found that i am getting a few spots now,
been doing this for a month now and my skin is deffo not as good as normal.. anyone else??

cairns · 22/10/2010 14:35

Am loving the inspirational posts and I am going to give some of those recipes a go.

IHTC skin ok here in fact it is much better than normal which I am putting down to the quantities of water I have been downing. I have only been on Dukan for a week though so I am prob not the best to ask.

1st week went well and I am finding it easy to stick to all in all lost around 5lbs and feel much better for it. I feel much better now the sugar pangs have gone too, it kind of makes me not want to eat anything sweet. Although did cheat last night and had a glass of wine as it was our wedding anniversary but hopefully that is the last of the cheats for a while.

zaazaa · 22/10/2010 20:56

Thank you to uggmum and PrudencePie for putting me back on the straight and narrow again. Attack phase for me again tomorrow although only gained 3/4lb in spite of my cheats but recognise the slippery slope Wink

Thanks guys [hgrin]

well i started at 10st 5lbs and i would like to be at least 9st. i know this doesnt seem alot but im only 5ft 2" tall.
i think if i dont get to a resonable weight now then the weight will creep on as i get older..
my hip hurts alot aswell and i think losing weight will help it, esp when i go jogging.

i eat 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, no fat/sugar yog mid morning. lunch is usually cottage cheese (low fat) and ham. or salad on pv day with balsamic vinegar. dinner is meat or fish then another yoghurt later. its soooo boring. im not getting more hungry. i wonder if im eating enough though?

Well, after a disasterous couple of weeks I am back in the Dukan zone. I gained a stone in 2 weeks but I am well and truly back on the wagon and it is coming off again NOW!!!!

I am very confident that I can lose it quickly as it hasn't had time to settle and realistically lots of it has got to be water.
So I just have got to work out how to stop the same thing happening again when I get to consolidation.

ihatethecold · 24/10/2010 19:29

well londonlottie i dont really know where im going wrong.
i go out running 3 times a week. do davina when i can be bothered. i think sometimes im not eating enough.. i look slimmer and feel slimmer but the scales dont move..

i seriously think this diet could give someone an eating disorder. i used to love food, really enjoyed the healthy side of it.i didnt eat unhealthily but the weight has crept on slowly over the past 10 yrs. now the thought of eating a carb scares me a bit.
bread, rice, pasta seems like the work of the devil,.
maybe im overreacting...

Morning all. I'm feeling a bit annoyed at myself today. I was determined that I was going to be good, foodwise, this weekend. Went to a 40th Birthday party and did drink a bit - but avoided all of the food, then yesterday cooked the entire family bacon sarnies for breakfast, and only ate one slice of bacon, then they had KFC for lunch which I avoided and stuck with cottage cheese and chicken....... only to ruin it all by having a Chinese takeaway last night - purely because I was too tired to cook!!!!! Not very happy with myself Sad.

Still, back to it today, at least for a couple of days before I head off down to Somerset for a couple of days with my DDs.
