Hello Dukan Soldiers!
Well I think I started the Dukan diet today (I've not read book - have requested it from library...)
So today I have eaten
3 cashew nuts
2 soft boiled eggs with salt n pepper
3 quorn fillets grilled
2 large salmon fillets poached in lemon juice n wasabi
a small bowl of muller FF vanilla yog with 1tbsp oatbran
12 pints water

Am I doing it right????

hope I can join your thread :) have 1 stone 4 lb to lose according to Dukan website, but 1 stone 9lb according to me always being 10 stone before birth of DD (6 months ago) Am gonna start shredding if when the DVD ever arrives
Also, am bfing. That's ok innit?
really inspired by you all, have thoroughly enjoyed reading your journeys through this thread. easy weightloss vibes to you all x

Well done pandabear 3.5 lbs is fab. I am not great at the weekend tbh, I do sin more with the odd glass of wine. I find it impossible to do pp at the weekend so I tend to have two pv days which helps I also up the exercise which makes me feel better re the wine etc. I know the odd glass probably slows down my loss but I find it hard to be mega strict for this length of time, so having one glass stops me going overboard.

Welcome randomama, looks like a good start. I don't know about dukan and bfg as unsure if the impact on your milk supply etc with the low carb. . Hopefully there will be some guidance somewhere on low carb and bfg.

No change here today, despite snuffling at least 5 of the boys mini sausages . I was so hungry after a busy morning and hadn't time to sort something for myself and that is what happens. I need to make sure I have more snacks to hand I think.

randomama · 11/01/2011 21:02

Thanks so much cairns Have looked at La Leche League site and feel like a modified and moderated version of Dukan prob best for me, so after a couple more days blasting this pure protein vibe I'll prob switch to every day protein n veg with a couple carb days a week on top. Feel SO FULL but that's prob cos I've just eaten 3 salmon fillets Shock
Another day of mass water consumption here again - at least 10 pints! - but not 'moved my bowels' since Sunday. Any tips on getting things moving in that dept?
That said, I've lost 2 lb since yesterday so feel pretty good about that...
How's everyone else doing?

cairns · 13/01/2011 07:58

Morning all. Well I am hanging my head in shame here so back on the wagon today. Had friends over for dinner tues night and that red wine has a lot to answer for, and yesterday I ate cake and chocolate and cheese (why?) so I have messed up my target for this week I am so annoyed with myself.

I think I have slackened as I have hit target one and my clothes feel better so it must be that thinking that is stalling me. I think I need to set some mini targets again. So back on pp today and I think I will have a good read of the book too.

How is everyone else?? Very quiet on here.

Morning! back from wedding & had GREAT time! Lots of non dukan but didn't overeat & surprisingly drink too much! Am hoping all the reeling will have helped & will weigh in tomorrow, fingers xed still under 10!
Well done cairns fantastic, you're on the home run nowGrin
Welcome & good luck to the newbies. shineon there have been some other veggies if you read back in the thread. Cottage cheese, tofu I guess for pp & yes erm yoghurt!! Good luck! PB I relax a little at w/e as babes at home & don't want to be 'faddy'. I do pv both days but found that even 1 glass of wine could set me back, v frustrating! The more I've lost the less the minor slip ups affect me.

insertexpletive · 13/01/2011 12:15

I have won tickets for the 'Paul McKenna, I can make you thin' seminar!!

I am really hoping that he can get me in the right mindset to make sure that my weight does not sky rocket again.

Will let you all know how it goes Grin

Hi everyone don't know if you remember me, just marking my place will be back on the wagon Monday. Hope everyone had a fab holiday season.

greenfig · 13/01/2011 13:58

shiny!! How was the wedding? Honeymoon & Christmas not done too much damage I hope? Good to hear from you. insert didn't you consolidate a while ago? How's it going?

shinybaubles · 13/01/2011 14:11

Hi greenfig well yep have done a shedload of damage truth be told, but am not too stressed since this diet actually works - am actually bizarrrely quite looking forward to starting again.
Wedding was ok thanks - well actually one hugely stressful 2 weeks including Christmas never to be repeated and did I mention expensive lol.
Will weigh in on Monday. Am going to spend the weekend catching up on this thread.

insertexpletive · 13/01/2011 14:29

greenfig
Yes, I am still consolidating and it is going well (with a little blip at christmas Blush)
What I am hoping to get out of the seminar is a bit more help in regards to my relationship with food. This diet has been amazing - but it is a diet, and I need some more help with the psychology of weight and food iyswim.

I want my loss to be sustained and to feel confident that the 3 and a half stone that I have lost will not go back on again.

cairns · 14/01/2011 15:16

shiny congratulations mrs and great to have you back.
insert it is great to know you can successfully consolidate. I am getting more curious of that stage as I near the target. I agree about the mindset change the worst thing would be to work hard losing then gain it back.
greenfig glad you are back. How did you feel at the wedding? Hope the weigh in wasn't too bad.

lottie not heard from you hope all going ok.

Well back on track now after a few blip days this week. Thankfully I haven't gained phew! So still just under 10st. I am going to try and focus again now I definately have slackened after hitting that 1st target.

How is everyone else doing especially those now on cruise after attack!

greenfig · 14/01/2011 15:58

Hi all
was back up to 9 11 3/4 in just a few days!
Back to it now to hit the final target then CONSOLIDATION!!
Well done cairns the running has obviously helped.

verysomething · 14/01/2011 20:45

Hi folks, I'm just coming out of the lurkers' corner... am a bit concerned at shineoncrazydiamond and randommama - it's a basic rule of the Dukan diet that it's not to be undertaken by BFing women. And he's really against veggies doing it as well - and as for a veggie who doesn't like eggs, are you insane? Shock

The basics of Dukan are very easy to find online, waiting for your book to arrive is Hmm. Go and do some research on google and use your commonsense. Don't play fast and loose with your health.

NurseySA · 14/01/2011 20:56

Hello all! Haven't been on here for a while, basically out of shame! Had a terrible day on Sunday and Tuesday involving Hobnobs and pizzaSad. Howvever, been very good the other days, weighed myself this morning and was down to 67.3kgs!! So in total have now lost 5kgs, and feeling very motivated again. DH is now down to 109kgs, so he's lost 8kgs in total.
Planning to start Shredding again this weekend, and aiming to be below 66kgs by next weekend. Only weighing myself every 3-4 days now, found the small fluctuations on a daily basis too demoralising.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Smile

cairns · 15/01/2011 10:23

Well I made beef lettuce wraps last night ( i saw it on the low carb thread) and it was delicious (although I needed to add more chilli). Given that it only uses lettuce as veg. I think for me it might be suited for PP days rather than PV as I do like more veg on PV days. It also made me think of using the same idea (lettuce wraps) with making fajitas (beef or chicken), add mixed peppers, fresh herbs, tomatoe salsa and a blob of ff creme fraiche on PV days. DH (and DC's) can have the same with tortilla wraps and grated cheese. I will post it to the recipe thread.

nursey well done on the loss, mighty quick. I bet you are starting to feel great as 5kgs is very noticeable. I have the odd slip up every now and again but as long as I get back on the wagon then it doesn't do that much damage (just stalls the weight loss).

welcome out of the shadows verysomething Grin I tend to agree re breastfeeding and low carb as carbs are needed to make milk but I think it is more complex than that ie how much the bfg makes up the DC's diet etc etc (ie what about about extended Bfg), just needs a lot more research and therefore it is easier and safer to say no Dukan to bfg mothers. Veggies (who eat dairy and eggs!)CAN do Dukan but it is more difficult to balance a diet that is already a little more restricted (ie impact of lack of beans/pulses/healthy fats) etc. Although if no eggs (or egg whites) are eaten then it is prob very difficult and there probably is a better diet out there.

The Dukan diet could be called by some to be unbalanced and faddy, but I don;t think it is. I think as long as I/we balance our diet then it is quite healthy. ie eat lots of different veg on PV days, chicken, beef, fish (incl oily fish) and dairy... that is balanced I think the only thing lacking is the starchy carbs which have little nutritional value.

greenfig · 16/01/2011 10:51

Hi cairns I also do the lettuce fajitas & use yog. v good when you need a mexican hit!
In agreement with you re above, it needs to be healthy & varied cooking not scoffing piles of chicken breast. I feel much better as I have more energy & no tummy troubles (was getting both ulcer & IBS symptoms due to pain releif)since being on this diet. I don't know what it says about bfing but know I couldn't have got through that stage myself without large amounts of flapjack!!
Am back to pre Scotland weight Grin but have noticed that the my wrists are now smaller?! Did I even have fat wrists!! I guess this will impact on target weight as I came out as heavy boned, which did surprise me as I'm quite littleHmm Prob will stick with original target....

marmalade32 · 16/01/2011 12:29

I have been lurking and getting motivated by all of your stories and started Dukan 9 days ago. I have lost 9 pounds but have a lot to lose, as I haven't lost any of the weight I put on in pregnancy and early baby months. I am starting to find I need to eat little and often, unlike previously when i would always be hungry and have big portions to make up for that. I am still tired and have only done 3 walks. I do have the shred, which I have done before and it does work, but the thought of it whilst I am still a bit lethargic is a bit frightening. You have all done so well and your stories are really motivating me. But I do have a question - my blood pressure has always been slap bang in the middle of average but when I went for a check on Friday it has gone up to borderline high. Has anyone else found this? And was it just temporary if you did ?

greenfig · 17/01/2011 09:15

Woo hoooo!! New low this morning, 9.9 1/4 only 2-3lbs to go YEE HAA!!

cairns · 17/01/2011 13:21

Wow wow greenfig well done that is fantastic. How many lbs have you lost now in total?

Welcome marmalade sounds like you have got off to a great start. No idea re blood pressure tbh but I would get it checked again, I never chance health.

Well still no change here despite being good this w/e and x2 runs, walking lots and a swim this morning .... Grrr plateau again on the positive at least i am at my pre Xmas weight, which is great. Off for a walk now with the buggy and to collect ds1. I suspect if the walking can't shift it, it must be totm.

pp for me again today, had greenfigs moussaka last night delicious!

marmalade32 · 17/01/2011 13:28

Thanks Cairns. I am booked in to get it checked again in 3 weeks. I've had a stressful week at work so not to worried at the minute. I'm reluctant to stop Dukaning because I have had such good results, and part of me thinks that losing the weight - have about 4 stone to go - will be better for me than a temporary few weeks of monitored blood pressure, but I'll see what they say in 3 weeks and take advice. Now that I have my DD, my health is more important to me, which I'm sure you all understand. If I can give a tip I have found in the short time I've been doing it - If you haven't time to do anything more than chicken breasts or fish, then Marks do some great spice mix mills. They are great to grind over the food and whack in the oven. I use the Morrocan one a lot and it's really tasty.

Oh I am so depressed! I started on 5th January with 6 days of attack and have been following it to the letter and walking an hour a day. I have about 3 1/2 stone to lose and have only lost 3 pounds. Fit the bill for the "difficult" women he talks about due to previous diets and menopause but still 3 POUNDS in 12 days and I have tried so hard. On PV days I only eat veg in the evening with my meal and I always put a pound on.
Suggestions?

NurseySA · 17/01/2011 18:13

Hello everyoneSmile

Just wanted to check in, determined to be good this week and not have any slip ups!! Started the 30 day shred today again, going to stick with it religiously now! No further weight loss today, but have been very good this weekend, no cheating at all!! Tried on some old jeans yesterday, haven't been able to get them past my thighs for the last 2 years, but could get them on, hopefully another few weeks will be able to do them up(hmm]!
I can't tell you how motivating it is to read this thread. Well done Greenfig, your target weight is the same as mine, can't wait to get there. Hope you all have a good week with lots of kgs dropping off!!

greenfig · 17/01/2011 20:13

Oh teenage my mum has just started last week having seen how easy I've found it & has had same troubleSad She's been dieting as long as I can remember & I can only think her body just thinks 'here we go again' & it will take a while to kick start the metabolism. I will be really interested to hear how you get on & hope you start seeing a difference soon. Are you feeling any difference, less bloated?
nursey isn't it a great feeling when you can get back into clothes! Well done & keep up the motivation, it's easy to slip once you start feeling better...
Fingers xed for a drop tomorrow cairnsGrin
Are you still there lottie?
