Welcome wangle & good luck!
Cairns Keep strong, I had a serious wobble last w/e as was not happening fast enough & felt quite despondent at lack of cheery sunday lunch type occasions. So much of social life is wrapped up in yummy food & alcohol. I managed to 'keep the faith!' & did 3 days pp & get my mindset back & I have lost 4 1/2lbs since sunday. It has motivated me as now only 2lbs to next mini target & I'm feeling much less 'dumpy' & matronly. I am now keen to start some toning exercises as I can finally see some physical progress as well as the numbers on my numerous charts!
The good news on the piece of choc cake that I trialled in the name of research (of course!) is that I was down 11/2 lb this am! Will let you know if tomorrow shows a knock on effect..

greenfig · 18/11/2010 11:01

Re choc cake, I included courgette to add moisture lacking from butter - think carrot cake, beetroot is often added too but courgette less carbs. However, cake mix did seem quite moist, from yog I guess so you could try omitting it. If you feel up to turning down cake though I really wouldn't go to the effort & why put temptation in your way?
How are you today london lottie?

wangle99 · 18/11/2010 13:02

Thank you for the welcome!

Am doing fine but seem to be eating loads far more than I should be (I think I'm panicking about calories consumed).

Surely i'll never lose weight eating all this?!?!

cairns · 18/11/2010 13:12

wangle don't worry attack will take away your carb cravings and it is important to eat as much as you want of lean protein and not restrict those first few days as you will need it. It will be ok as although there are calories in lean protein, it takes up a reasonable proportion of calories to digest it. See how it goes on attack the first few days are tricky to get through.

greenfig wow 4.5lbs in a week now that is some motivation . I am still on pp today and have already had a long walk so perservering as I think it really works , one dress size down in a month!

lailarose I am not finding it too expensive as have been sticking to chicken, eggs ( and smoked salmon which is not too highly priced at the mo) I buy muller light yogs multipack so it is ok. I also like the crab sticks as an odd snack. I have found that my portion sizes have also naturally come down too which is great .

wangle99 · 18/11/2010 13:45

Thank you cairns - I'll put my faith in it!

I just made my galette thing - I really liked it! Although it was a bit burnt so presumably unburnt it will taste even better lol Am very full after having it Smile

lailarose · 18/11/2010 15:19

They have asked for the cake :( maybe just one slice will be ok! It sounds scrummy.

I guess when I get into the rhythm a bit more I will manage my spending better - I am wanting as much variety as possible at the moment! Those crab stick (I normally hate) are great for snacks as they are slightly sweet too!

I have already noticed portion size getting mini!

wangle - I was eating non stop on my first 2 days - was to distract myself but promise, you will be fine, and the galletes are awesome for filling and keeping carb craving away (although I am only on day 4 so can't really comment, I'm sure everyone else knows better!)

Praying for good results tomorrow and well done greenfig :)

wangle99 · 18/11/2010 19:35

How often did you weigh yourself in the beginning? I know Dukan said weigh frequently, I just did and wish I hadn't bothered as currently 2lb heavier than this morning!

Hmm
greenfig · 18/11/2010 19:49

I think daily is recommended, you will be lightest in the morning. I find that I weigh approx 2lbs lighter folling morning so don't worry. Also I lost no weight on 1st day of attack but had lost 3 or 4 lbs by day 3 so keep going! The stricter you are the better you'll do.
Curse you Lailarose have done all day on PP & have just had a piece of that choc cake!! Will have to put the rest in the bin as babes off to bed & husband away-the worst could happen!Blush

wangle99 · 18/11/2010 19:53

thank you greenfig I'll have faith. I have overdone the dairy - but I didn't realise it was limited to 1kg a day (and I didn't realise I was capable of eating that much lol). I have done an exercise class though so hopefully that will negate the dairy!

greenfig · 19/11/2010 10:11

Am back up 3/4 lb today, seems to be how it goes for me. ALWAYS go up @ w/es & am off to Cornwall this one. Plenty of fish & walks will be good, but wine will definitely be on the menu I'm afraid. Can't wait to get to that 10st target, has been almost 3 years since I was last there. Feel better about fluctuations now as it does then come back down again.
Enjoy your party w/es girls & catch up with you all on monday

cairns · 19/11/2010 10:22

Still static here too, despite being good all week, I do suspect totm though. We are away also this weekend so will try to be good but doubt I will have that much control over the menu.

Have fun in cornwall greenfig despite your slight gain 4lbs in a week or so is still good going.

Have fun this weekend everyone x

Hi all, mind if I join?

I've not really dieted before, sort of dabbled from time to time but certainly I have never gone for it like this before!

I've had 2 kids without getting any stretchmarks on my tum, but lately, between my love for wine and my love for biscuits, I have developed my first ones. Oh heck!

Anyway, seeing that gave me the kick I needed and so now my aim is to get from about 12 1/2 stone down to 10, which should hopefully make me a size 10 too. Just think of all the old clothes I can resurrect!

I am only on day 4. I did the true weight calculating thingy and it said I needed 2 days of ATTACK! but I don't trust myself not to gorge on tomatoes so I am sticking to the meat for now. I think it might be working, but have no way of knowing for sure as I forgot to weigh myself before I started!! One thing I have noticed is how much I eat without noticing - today DD2 was having some lunch on my knee and before I knew it I had one of her blueberries in my mouth. I honestly didn't realise until it was (almost) too late. I wonder how many calories I have consumed in wine, how many of biscuits and how many without even bloody noticing!

Oh well, no more waffle. Well done to you all - some amazing tales of progress on here. Let's hope I can join you in skinny-dom soon.

And if anyone knows a nice low carb recipe for goulash I'd love to hear about it...

wangle99 · 20/11/2010 07:12

greenfig I am in Cornwall! Whereabout were you staying?Enjoy the fish Cornwall has to offer Smile

Londonlottie lol at the chocolate and am jealous of the stollens (I keep eyeing them up in the supermarket!). Well done on 1/2lb down - am wondering now if I could sneak in some stollen too hmm

cairns hope you have a good weekend.

I am on day 3 of attack now, I vary from being bored silly of it and wanting to give up but think that could be my brain trying to make me eat stuff. I am down 3 and a bit lb (can't remember start weight doh) so am doing ok. I must admit to missing fruit big time.

slightlytubby hello! I'm new to this as well being on day 3 of attack today. It's easy to consume without realising I'm a nightmare whenever I open the fridge picking on open fruit/veg and it does add up. Can't help with goulash recipe I'm afraid.

Am off Christmas shopping with DD today so am hopeful will be a good day although I will miss our ritualistic starbucks....

cairns · 20/11/2010 08:35

Morning all

Welcome slightytubby love the name. I think Dukan advised me to do 2 days of attack too, but I did 5 in the end as wanted it to kick start. Yes I was thinking that the other day with the kids food too, blueberries, leftover toast etc but I have stopped myself now.

wangle well done 3.5lbs in a few days is great motivation to keep it up.

greenfig I had tomyum soup with chicken added last night , it was so so easy to do and was delicious and warming, it did need the extra fish sauce and lime juice though, thanks for the tip. I think next time I do it will be with prawns.

Still the same weight this morning but it is definately TOTM ( I had been feeling very bloated, yet was on P days so was starting to wonder). It does impact things. I am away now until Sun pm and won't be able to control the menu as we are staying with friends, will just have to try to be as good as possible and start P on Monday.

Have a good weekend

greenfig · 21/11/2010 22:04

Hi all, am back! Welcome slightlytubby (not for long!)
wangle we were in Port Isaac on the North coast & had lovely weather. Had a couple of olives & some wine on fri but otherwise good,
were on the move on sat lunch & everyone else wanted F&C! I had just fish, but was batter, sneaked a quick handful of chippies too. Sat night a piece of bread & few frites with my mussels & more wine. Sat afternoon I felt really ill-tummy cramps & wobbly. Had water & lie down then felt better. Woke up at 3am & same - was v sick! Worried it was my body rejecting carbs! However, got caught out at lunch on run again today & had a pasty & didn't make me ill so just paranoia not helped by comments from my friend that was staying with us me thinks!
Will let you know the damage & the goulash recipe I cooked last week ST when I check in tomorrow.

lottie I can really sympathise, I felt just like that last w/e & I'd only done 41/2 weeks! You have been going much longer AND are coping with young twins, that's tough to keep up the enthusiasm. Focus on how well you've done so far, & only 5 more weeks til Christmas! If you get focused you may still hit that next mini target. Despiter the boredom & slip ups it sounds as though you're still heading in the right direction.
I found a recipe for moussaka, that may be husband friendly! Cook usual onions, garlic & lo fat mince in min. oil, add cinnamon, toms, oregano (anything else you like in it, peppers, courgette etc)griddle or bake sliced aubergine & layer up. Top with a mix of beaten egg, lo yog & lo cot cheese. Sprinkle of nutmeg & bake as usual. Tom salad & green veg, YUM! Don't forget to season etc.
slightlytubby Goulash I made was onion , garlic, stir in paprika, 1/2ed mushs, sliced peppers, sliced steak, white wine & tin toms. season, cook down to tender & stir in lo yog at end.
Cairns hope your w/e was fun & not too much damage! Damage from my w/e not too bad, am up 3/4/lb so 1 1/2lb more than lowest weight. I found it really hard around other people who obviously thought it was a silly faddy diet. Hard to stand firm in the 'we want F&C' situation to pick a good quick alternative...

10 month old twins & 34lb weight loss is an AMAZING acheivement! Give your body time it's a massive readjustment to make. Be realistic about the time scale of 'snapping back' I certainly had no energy or inclination to fit in much of an exercise routine when mine were little. As life moves on we find more time & energy for ourselves & everything you can manage to do in the meantime will make it all the easier in the long run. Focus on the little targets you've passed & make sure the next one is in sight to keep up the motivation.
What was disaster with quark? Cot cheese just adds that bit of savouryness to the sauce.

cairns · 22/11/2010 14:01

lottie keep going it is not too far until Christmas, and if you have lost 34lbs to date just think how much in 5 weeks you could lose to top that. You have been an inspiration keep it up.

greenfig your recipe ideas are fabulous. Ghoulash and Moussaka on the menu this week for my PV days. I do find stews hearty and warming and DH loves them too (and he can have rice, mash, couscous) which keeps him happy.

Well a disastrous weekend (lots of wine, Sunday Roast, toast for breakfast, Desserts the full works Blush but I was expecting it really as I was staying with friends so had little control over what I was eating. Thankfully I should have no more of those until Xmas so I can give Dukan some real focus now. Despite the bad weekend I have still stuck the same , I am guessing it is probably because I lost a little when it was TOTM last week but it was masked, so I have kind of got away with it! Back to P again today and all OK so far.

insertexpletive · 22/11/2010 17:42

Hello again everyone.

Lots of new starters which is good to see Smile

Consolidation is still going well - I have kept the weight off for over two months now and actually, have continued to lose a bit.

I am beginning to feel confident that I can maintain my weight in the long-term, but have to say that I am more than a little anxious about Christmas!

OP posts:
greenfig · 22/11/2010 18:08

OOo oo am so pleased to hear from somebody on consolidation & thrilled for you that it's worked! I have some questions-
Can you now have pork, lamb, avocados & pulses? Am unsure when (if at all) they can be re introduced or is it just celebration meals?
Also, assuming I manage to almost make my target by Christmas, don't know if it's bad to 'take a break' & just try to be good within reason or is this going to be bad creating yo-yo effect? I think I'm unlikely to be right on target but hopefully will have lost a stone by then & feeling better.
Really unrealistic to think I'll be TOTALLY Dukan if not allowed celebration consolidation meal.
Well done on your acheivement & thanks SO much for checking in as makes it all feel worthwhile. Look forward to hearing from you again Smile

lailarose · 23/11/2010 09:47

Morning all and hello newbies!

SO saturday felt amazing eating some green juicy food again! Did not realise that I could miss salads and veg that much but it tasted amazing!
Day 9 and 8lbs down - feels good - also managed a cheeky drink on Sat night (vodka) and a sneaky piece of dark chocolate on Sunday (I also had a mini baguette with my soup on Sunday for lunch..oops).
For those of you who want to jazz stuff up - because I was getting SO sick on tasting meat/dairy/meat/dairy just go crazy with flavours..
My fav dinner right now is tuna steak and this is extra good if you like it raw like me:
Teeny bit of oil in frying pan, add chopped garlic and grated ginger..coat the tuna in fresh coriander and fresh chili, sear on both sides, squirt either lemon or lime juice over, touch more grated ginger, and voila! Sprinkle of fresh coriander on top and you're good to go.
My other discovery was with carrots...yeah they taste amazing solo too but I part boiled them and then roasted them in the oven with cumin seeds.....OMG! heaven!

greenfig I am SO sorry about cake temptation... :( your moussaka sounds immense! You should do your own Dukan recipe book!!

Keep it going everyone...diet coke has become my new best friend :/ (never used to like fizzy drinks!)

xx

greenfig · 23/11/2010 11:33

Hi girlies! Have woken with the babes cold & still 1 1/2lb up Sad will make moussaka to keep myslf away from mashed pots & cauli cheese type food I usually turn to when ill!
Saw 'cook yourself thin' on tv yesterday & she was putting courgette in cupcakes! See, not completely barking! Had a look at website & some good lo fat option recipes. Some need tweaking & without the noodles etc, but if you've gotta have curry or mexican for eg it has to be better than heading for the take away, worth a look. Also recommend the Good Food website when bored & in need of inspiration. Very easy to use, again just filter out what you can't have & tweak & substitute where nec.
Well done lailarose, 8lb in 9 days is fantastic! Keep up the good work.
