ohhhhh cauliflower cheese.................Sad

Get better soon greenfig - I am sure PP is the last thing you want right now but keep strong!

Someone has brought treats into the office again.....So far a black coffee and muller yog have sufficed...better go on lunch now or I might cave-in!

Hi Greenfig

I have to be honest and say that I have been having pork all the way through this diet Blush
I have lean ham, trim fat off of roast pork and even had a few slices of bacon (with fat trimmed off)
I also have lamb, but again, try and avoid the fatty bits.

Avocados and pulses are not recommended for daily consumption, but are fine with celebration meals.
In the first half of consolidation you have one celebration meal a week, moving onto two for the last half. Once you get to the final stage, you can have pretty much what you want, but still need to include oatbran and have one day a week pp.

I think that I have really re-trained myself as to what I want to eat now. I am allowed two slices of wholemeal bread per day, but rarely have it, and still avoid pasta and other carbs unless a celebration meal.
I still have protein only at lunch every day, even though it is ok to have veg I save this for the evening. Perhaps this is why I am actually still losing a bit of weight (very small amounts but I am now down to a size 12, not the 12/14 that I was when I started consolidation)

I am not sure what I am going to do at Christmas. I don?t really want to deny myself mince pies, Christmas cake etc. but also don?t want to pile the weight back on. I think I am going to try to be more careful than I would normally be, but don?t want a miserable holiday! I figure that I can always go back on a couple of days worth of attack to ensure that any gain comes off again quickly.

Keep going though ? I have converted half of my office onto this diet and seems to be working for most people Grin

Well done lailarose that is huge weightloss in that time. greenfig hope you feel better soon I tend to eat comfort foods when feeling a bit low too , but your moussaka sounds yummy.

I was really good yesterday and so far great today ( still on pp) I think I am reversing last weekends damage as I am still the same, oh well at least I haven't gained and the weightloss to date has stabilised which is fab .

lailarose · 23/11/2010 14:26

thanks guys! Blush

insertexpletive you are a true inspiration! I am hoping that when I reach my end stage, that my attitude towards food will have changed...so hearing your experience is fantastic...I do not want to go back to gorging and eating for the sake of eating.
I think relaxing a bit over Xmas is a good idea - at least we all know now that we can be strict and can return to PP days to ensure we kickstart again - Christmas is one day and for me normally one meal! As long as I do not eat a box of mince pies or a whole yule log I am sure it will be fine :)

lailarose · 23/11/2010 14:28

p.s

how are you guys staging your weight loss targets? I was at 12.7 and want to get down to just over 9 stone...is it best doing 7 pound goals?? That is more realistic right?

cairns · 23/11/2010 14:47

lailarose I have given myself 4 targets. Mine have been set 'weight pre DS2, weight pre DS1, weight at wedding and then target weight. That has been working for me.

insertexpletive thank you for your inspiring posts it is fab reading how it has worked and how it is ingrained now. Xmas I think should be enjoyed as it is only a few days and we know that attack will get you back on track. A few days will be OK, a whole month of celebrations though will probably be a v bad thing. So I think my plan will be to be v v good leading up to Xmas and then relaxing a little on Xmas Day, Boxing day and New Years Eve without going way overboard. I don;t like the really bad things at Xmas (mince pies, pud etc) I just have to be wary with the booze and vast quanties of chocolate offered, which I think I should be OK with.

greenfig · 23/11/2010 15:47

Lailarose my targets were 1st 1/2 stone, (reached & haven't been for 1 year) 10 stone, (almost there, haven't been for 2+ years) 1 stone (9.11) then final dukan target of 9.7. Was 9.3 when my youngest was about 2 & have steadily put on approx 3lb a year. Think Dukan target is realistic & can't wait to get under 10! Have occasionally gone on an exercise/healthy eating mission but never got back down. Have not found it so easy & sustainable as this though & feel it is achievable this time. Also easier now to exercise as babes bigger & 'slightly' less exhausting!

psssss .. hello. Have been Dukaning for 2 weeks, Spectacular weight loss at first, now plateauing and have first period in 2 years so feeling bloated and blah.

have fallen off wagon with some fruit etc the last day or two.

Finding the monotony tricky as I don't eat meat so it's endless flippin' tuna and eggs.

Help me stay focussed ....

for the record, not much to lose, really. Just have a yen to be skinny, rather than slim.

greenfig · 24/11/2010 11:01

I know there's no way I could get down to wedding weight again, it would be totally unrealistic, & how sad to think I thought I was fat then! I was 25 then too & am 40 next year. I also want to set a good example to my daughter who is old enough to spot I am eating differently to her. I am explaining it's a 'healthy eating plan'rather than diet 'to be thin' & that it's about looking after my body so that it doesn't have to work so hard, as I am getting older. I grew up with my mum constantly dieting (she still is in her 60's) & being disatisfied with her body, & her mother being obese. It's v important to me that my little girl has a sensible perception of herself & enjoys food & eats healthily. Part of that has to be eating enjoyable food rather than being faddy so I encourage you all to get inventive & cook some more varied lo carb dishes. It is so much more interesting & satisfying & it helps the boredom.
I am down 1lb today so feeling inspired again & have managed a good walk in the frost & sunshine, despite the seized up chest! Where is divadoll & wangle*?
Let us know if you gleaned any inspiration from the book londonlottie

greenfig · 24/11/2010 11:22

londonlottie I can't stomach the galettes either, I also tried a bread recipe & found it pretty unpleasant. I have it as porridge, not too thick though, with vanilla or cinnamon & sweetener. Yum for b'fast or as supper if I have eggs for b'fast. Also like it topped with rhubarb or vanilla yog, it is almost comfort food!

cairns · 24/11/2010 12:50

Morning

still no change here I think I need to up the exercise, I only have a teeny bit to go to 2nd target so am determined.

I too love the porridge and wholeheartedly agree with you re variation and an example it sets your kids. I have quite simple food during the day ad I find that easy but if in the evening it was just grilled chicken etc then I would have stopped this a long time ago. I am enjoying trying out different recipes as I actually think pre dukan dh and I were stuck in a food routine as it wad easier to cook the same old things especially when tired after a long hard day and sleep derived.

My wedding was not so long ago greenfig I was v happy with how I was but was a half stone heavier than I had been throughout my adult life which is close to my dukan target, although I am wondering now If that is achievable, we will see I may decide to amend targets later dependent on how I look and feel.

lailarose · 24/11/2010 13:25

greenfig I am going to make your moussaka tonight!! VERY excited!

Ok have totally realised why I am only losing 1/2 a pound each day now...if that! I am not exercising! SO going to make sure I go for a 'brisk' walk tonight for 45 mins. Is the 2nd week the right time to start this?

Am going to sort targets now - I think I have reached my first which was half a stone and to get back to 12..for a long time I have been around 11 or above so I need to make realistic goals as not to lose moral Confused

Anyone got any good exercise tips? I am at work all day and do not get home til around 7pm ( I do make sure I always take the stairs etc and have a bit of a walk to work either side of train journeys).

How is everyone feeling today? I massively want chocolate! Blush

divadoll · 24/11/2010 17:00

I have the book at long last and realise why I havent been losing like I should :( I have been having more like 2-3 spoons of bran a day and not 1-1.5. I havent been cheating other than that and a little low fat cheese every blue moon, but am back to where I was last week at 71.9. I sooo want to be under 70 in two weeks, but am starting again from scratch and trying to read the book from start to finish. It is a tad repetitive though.

greenfig · 24/11/2010 18:31

lailarose I'm not a chocoholic (more bread, cheese & general carbs craver) but find I sometimes need a hit! Cocoa with skimmed milk & sweetener does the trick for me. Strangely not craving carbs & even not missing my evening glass (or 2) of wine. Also I read someone was dancing to Abba when wet or dark to get moving!? My daughter would LOVE that Smile I try to do some pilates exercises at home which is also good for my bad back but am more likely to be found watching 'I'm a celebrity' in front of the fire at the mo Blush
Cairns I'm sure you'll make your targets, also I read a dukan trick to get things moving was to drink green tea, hot or cold, day & night for 2 days, no other drinks. Could be worth a try. Have managed a good day on pp, really hope I've dropped at least 1/2lb to get back to last thurs weight...seems to be 2 steps forward & 1 back every week for me!

greenfig · 25/11/2010 09:25

Woo hoo! Down 3/4lb this am, less than 2lb to next mini target.Grin

I'm starting this today, have had prawns and roast chicken for lunch with Muller light for afters. I'm going to NYC for NY so really want to be able to wear a slinky dress for that! Don't have a 'lot' to lose, but to get rid of the persistent 1-1.5 stone that seems to have crept on around my midsection would be lovely!
Reading all the posts on here has really spurred me on to stick to this!

cairns · 25/11/2010 15:09

Welcome MediaGirl hopefully you should shift a big proportion by then.

Well done greenfig and lottie on your continued trend downwards. Don't know how you get away with the choc pots etc lottie but your weight still seems to shift downwards, well done.

Well my plateau seems to have shifted a bit 1/2lb down this am. Although I have been expecting more as I have been really really good all week and went to the gym this am. I think it is a) lack of exercise and b) rectfying some of the damage of last weekend. Although I am not complaining too much as I tried on a few dresses, skirts etc today as have a works do with my DH to go to next week so have been frantically trying to find something suitable to wear (it is ages since I have been shopping) and I had to ask for the next size down in 3 shops Shock. I plan on exercising more this weekend, a few runs planned (please don't snow!)

greenfig · 25/11/2010 17:29

Good luck Mediagal keep focused on that NYE dress to keep the motivation.
Finally Cairns!! you must be really pleased! I find it so disheartening when nothing happens, it really helps to get in the zone when you see some progress! Great to see some physical difference in clothes as well as on the scales I find.
The window cleaner asked if I'd lost weight today?!? Seemed so random as some friends & family haven't commented at all!!
Come on Lottie you can do it!! Get back in the zone it's not long now.

Lets all keep up the good work & make those Christmas targets. You are really helping me get there - along with my charts & statistics of course!

cairns · 26/11/2010 08:09

The plateau is definately moving another 1lb down this morning.

It is lovely receiving comments isn't it, keeps that motivation up. I am v nearly 1 stone down now in just 6 weeks Shock and it is reasonably noticeable. So it has ( plus encouragement here ) kept me going. I have never lost this much weight before but I have only ever tried healthy eating before too .

Onwards and downwards all , those party frocks are calling our names!

Glad you are back in the zone lottie

The comments is funny isn't it. I must admit I don't tend to comment on weight loss, just that someone is looking great. (although saying I don;t like your shoes is a funny one!) Reason is I kind of don't want to imply that I may have been thinking they had some to lose in the first place. But then again if someone has been trying really hard to shift some weight then it is lovely when people notice..... mmmm dilemma.

greenfig · 26/11/2010 10:26

Can't wait for snow here, we hardly ever get it we're in a funny little patch that usually misses it yet it snows all round us. Children are disgusted as I grew up in N. Yorks so grannys always snowed in every year!
Keeping warm should burn off a few cals!
2 stone since July, 1 stone in 6 weeks! I wish I was moving along so fast, another 1/2lb down this am but still only a total of just over 10lbs since 19th Oct. Sad
Still, as you say Cairns more than I've managed in past & still finding it really easy. Was wondering about Celebration meal yesterday & can't think what I'll choose! What do I miss the most? I'm no longer sure Confused Had delicious supper of steak marinaded in paprika, oregano & lemon zest with grated carrot, red cabbage & shredded iceberg & spring onion dressed in lemon juice. Served w garlic & coriander lo yog & chilli sauce, yum!
london lottie that's often the case with friends who see it as who you are & feel a little unsure when things shift. I'm sure she's got other good qualities but take the complements where you can get them, even the window cleaner!
