Morning ladies! Does anyone else have the feeling that they're slightly obsessed? I feel the need for graph, a daily chart, multitude of targets & regular check ins with you ladies to keep up the motivation & focus!!
Does anyone kmow of people on consolidation or who have finished that have managed to stabilise? Am now almost 1/2 way there (another target!) & am concerned that Christmas is going to blow everything since I can put on a lb with a glass of wine!
Also, does anyone have good ideas for drinks? Am bored of the diet coke & catching up with the girls tonight-MUST NOT DRINK WINE!!! I really am not an alcoholic!
Well done everyone & keep up the messages (I'll be checking back in later of course!)

lailarose · 16/11/2010 10:02

I'm loving the fact that everyone on here is completely 'real' and honest...we all love our wine/cocktails whatever!
Ok that is good to know - I assumed if I stumbled (which I am sure all of us will/do as that is why we are doing this diet anyway!) that I would follow this issue with PP days...and yes, thanks for the warning on hangover! I can only imagine what one glass can do when you have no 'stodge' on your tummy!
I congratulate those who have never succumbed to a drink/a nibble of chocolate/BREAD or whatever your temptations may be.
I managed to sort of weigh myself this morning (my scales are definitely dead and NOT because I am so fat(!))..SHOCK - a lot heavier than I predicted so hopefully by Friday I will be smiling.
I have a friend for dinner so looking at some good recipes....I obviously will allow carbs etc for her!
Also, I HATE doing this at work...I look like such an idiot at the canteen asking for just meat, perhaps an egg and that is it....!!!
I havent managed to track down any oat bran yet! Will go on a search this lunch break - Im sure missing first day is ok though?! Confused
Keep it up everyone! you are all my inspiration!!

xx

greenfig · 16/11/2010 10:51

Tescos sell it! I like it best as porridge made with skimmed milk, sweetener & vanilla or topped with lo vanilla yog.

cairns · 16/11/2010 13:11

gin and slimline tonic is prob best , less carbs. If you must do wine then a long wine and soda should mitigate some damage. I am out tomrrow pm so will have the same prob too. Surprisingly since starting I have not succumbed to even a scrap of bread, potatoe rice etc I don't want to. Choc has been mine vice but since finding choc sprinkled muller lights it has kept those cravings at bay.

Lots of stories of those on consolidation, before I started this I looked through the thread and was amazed.

cairns · 16/11/2010 13:18

Oh forgot to say I have an excel speadsheet that I enter each day ( and sum weekly, and loss to date) Blush although I haven't gone as far as graphing it !

lailarose · 16/11/2010 15:25

LOVE your spreadsheet cairns!
Found some oat bran in holland and barrett..going to make something out of it for dinner.

Also, I picked up some sugar free sweets and chocolate - NO idea if I can have these..I am pretty sure I can resist savoury fattie things but like you cairns I have a huge sweet tooth..have been relying on Muller Yogs. I assume sugar free sweets are OK as you can have sugar free jelly..choc however I am wary of.

ALso, does anyone know if it is OK to have the fruit Muller lites?! There have been no vanilla ones at work so i have been having the cherry or strawberry ones..bit worried now..limiting myself to 1-2 a day though...

Going to make porridge tomorrow greenfig ! pretty small portion though I'd imagine :)

greenfig · 16/11/2010 18:40

Ha! You should try the graph you won't regret it, just don't make the mistake of telling anyone!
I think you can have a max of 2 fruit lo yogs a day but no fruit bits in. I have been having the lo yeo valley & rachels (on special in Tescos) with some fruit for a bit of variety. I think rhubarb is allowed & the yog is really nice. They do have sugar in (a no no) but they are yum! Porridge portion is surprisingly large & filling.
Am off to draw up a spreadsheet now....

cairns · 16/11/2010 19:47

Graph now drawn! ha! I too love the porridge though, keeps me going till lunch normally, though haven't tried a yoghurt topper yet. I initially started using my oatbran in the galette with scrambled egss for lunch, but found the porridge much more satisfying. Lunch is now either boiled eggs or scrambled with smoked salmon.

Just marinated my staple dinner for P days. Chicken tikka kebabs with a mint yoghurt dip. Dh is having the same plus couscous from the previous night and some dhal, so he is happy too I think!

Unsure of the choc lailarose it is probably with sweetner, but likely to contain fat. Dukan stipulates low fat (opposite of atkins I guess). Sweets should be OK , just be wary of the side effects of having too many Wink

Keep going girlies, we are doing really well.

divadoll · 17/11/2010 07:31

Yay...71.9 this morning, so it is creeping off, slowly. 6lb down in 16 days but I have a birthday with lovely chocolate cake to arrange on Friday :(

WOOOO! Lost 4lbs!!! SO thrilled!

Had a nice juicy steak last night and had my galette on the side with some quark mixed with english mustard - VERY impressed with the oat bran! Defs having porridge - really filling and actually feels like a treat.
I am going to stay away from the chocolate (I did sneak a taste last night though, one cube, and was suprisingly ok so will use it when I advance in the stages I think).

Salmon and gallete for lunch today and some prawns to munch on....scallops for dinner - fishy day! haha.

Keep going everyone :) - I am guesing it is best not to weigh in every day? I'm thinking I will do every 2 - that way there might be more of a change Wink

Am up 3/4 lb today, must have been that pesky handful of spinach as I stayed off wine with the girls! Husband has been trying to convince me that sex helps the weight loss so bang goes that theory now! (phew!) Well done on 4lbs, it will soon begin to feel in your clothes. I have had a few unprompted comments the last few days & even bought a new pair of trousers-1 size down & not so tight you can read the washing label through!!! Hoorah!!
DD I think I may be able to dig out a choc cake recipe that although not strictly Dukan, will be better for you. Would you like it?
I eat quite a lot of Asian recipes as low fat & carb but high on flavour & interesting.
Not that I crave it but I do wonder if I'll ever be able to indulge in mashed pots & fresh bread & butter again......

ching-He Hauang has a good book, chinese food in mins. Lots of her recipes on good food website. I like fish, prawns chicken or beef with garlic, ginger, spring onion, chilli, lightly cooked (steamed is good for fish & chicken) with soy sauce & coriander added after. If feeling decadent add 2 drops sesame oil, not allowed but strong flavour so a little is all that's needed. I find soups filling & sometimes have as a starter. Hot & sour or tom yum thai soup is good & really quick & simple once you have ingredients in stock. I use tom yum paste available in supermarkets, add protein to paste & boiling water or stock add veg on pv days then season with lime juice (bottled is handy) & fresh coriander.
Hong Sao is good with beef or fish when you need something warming & is useful if got friends round. If you can't find recipe on line I can give it to you. It is a light stew, very aromatic & can use leftover broth as base for soups. Find yourself some star anise, chinese rice vinegar, chinese cooking wine, cinnamon sticks, soy & sichuan peppercorns & give it a go!

divadoll · 17/11/2010 14:28

Thanks Greenfig but the kids have already picked a huge one with sprinkles and maltesers all over it, so a hand made one will have to wait for MY birthday in March!!
Would be interested in that recipe anyhow ;)

Hi Ladies can I ask a quick question... I am debating starting Dukan tomorrow (want to lose bit of weight before Christmas and I gain some lol) it says to drink 1.5 litres of water - can you drink MORE than this or do you have to stick to the 1.5 litres?

Thank you

divadoll · 17/11/2010 16:18

1.5 is the minimum

greenfig · 17/11/2010 19:24

Hi Lailarose have trawled through my books & cobbled together this recipe which I have just trialled. It is NOT Dukan & I'm not suggesting it's a good idea to scoff on a diet but if you have a celebration it's much lower carb, fat & sugar & don't forget it's only 1 slice! I think I can prob improve on this but it's a pretty good 1st attempt-moist & chocolatey.

Beat tog. 25g sweetener, 3 egg yolks & 50g butter. Beat in 150g 0% yog, 1/4 tsp vanilla essence & 3 tbs strong coffee. Fold in 45g fat reduced cocoa, 3/4tsp baking powder, 3/4 tsp bicarb. soda, & 50g flour. (Will be quite thick & pasty now) Fold in 150g finely grated courgette, dried in paper towel then beaten egg whites. (need to be beaten to stand in peaks) Bake approx 30 mins in 2 sandwich tins @ 170. Should be springy to touch & just coming away from edge of tin. Turn out & cool.

In a pan heat 2tbs sweetener, 2 tbs cocoa, 1/2 tbs syrup, 250ml water. Add 2 tbs cornflour slaked in a little water & whisk to smooth. Cook to thick glue consistency, cool. Use custard to sandwich & cover cake. (may not need all)

I think butternut squash puree could be a good substitute for the courgette as naturally sweet & look better, may be able to then reduce sweetener more?1?

DD I'm sure your sprinkles & malteser version will of course be far superior!
Enjoy your parties!

wangle99 · 17/11/2010 21:16

Can I join you? Am starting tomorrow doing the attack phase. Have the book (have briefly read and going to read more in a moment), stocked up on meat and yogurt!! Took delivery of a new fridge today so I have a shelf in it all to myself and god forbid anyone touch my stuff lol

Want to lose about 10lb really - have recently lost 3.5 stone with Cambridge diet but am struggling now having to eat normally and gained a bit back. Need to sort it now before I eat (drink!) too much over Christmas!

wangle xx

cairns · 18/11/2010 08:00

Morning all

Welcome Wangle99. wow 3.5stones with the Cambridge diet, that is some good work well done. I am sure you will find Dukan a breeze in comparison.

Thank you for all the recipe ideas Greenfig I love asian food and am struggling with warming P recipes (other than the porridge or scrambled eggs) in this weather so those soups sound yummy!

Good luck with the party Divadoll

Well for two days being really good on PP nothing, I have stayed the same. Although I was delighted I didn;t gain anything after the 'weekend off' so it might be my body just getting back on track. Also I suspect it is very close to TOTM and the best thing about Dukan it is making me steer clear of all the chocs and treats I used to find soooo attractive at this time Wink

lailarose · 18/11/2010 10:32

Weigh in this morning proved problematic..! My scales have broken so am going to buy a new set on the way home and hopefully by tomorrow I will know for sure what I am(!)SO FRUSTRATING! Knowing you're losing spurs you on but I still have not been tempted (even though people in work keep bringing in cakes, cookies etc AND my desk is right by the vending machine.....!)

Thanks SO much for cake recipe greenfig - amazing putting courgette/squash in as I would never have thought that - to be honest, I'm not even sure I will have a piece...it's weird, only 3/4 days and after those tough days you just do not want to succumb! Hopefully by the end of this my whole psychology towards food will have changed..I know i seek to find comfort in it.

Had an amazing dinner last night for all you shellfish lovers - I dry fried some scallops with chilli and coriander, squirt a little bit of lemon..that's all you need.
Because I find the PP a bit dry, I just put a pinch of rock salt and lots of pepper on some fromage frais (or quark or even natual yog could work too) just to have a bit of dip. I would never normally put that with scallops and was dreaming of bacon and pea puree with them, but it sat well in the tum!

Going to take inspiration and mussle up something spicy tonight!

Good luck everyone :) It's nearly the weekend (uh oh!!!)

Ps welcome wangle99 I only started on Monday and it does get easier (and you suprinsingly get fuller each day!)

lailarose · 18/11/2010 10:33

p.s is anyone else finding this MEGA expensive?! Confused
