So today is D day! Diet starts today, I have my first slimming world class tonight and i am feeling quite motivated. I think I probably have around 3 stones to lose, but i would be happy to even lose 2. I just feel fat and unhealthy and have never been this big before!

So today is day 1 of sorting myself out! Just wondered if anyone else was starting today too, not just slimming world, but any thing, and wanted to have somewhere to chat, swap ideas, or get some moral support?

angry pixie I too was sceptical about the carbs, but if you stop eating when full it seems to work, off course if I stopped eating when full I would not now be looking at shifting over 5 stones to be healthy.

Lulumaam · 11/09/2010 14:51

Im going to join on Monday.

went once years ago , did ok, but never stuck to it.

can i join ?

ElizabethWakefield · 11/09/2010 17:05

Nice to see our group is growing! Smile

Well done on all the losses! Grin and great to get your stone award Wynken!

I think the thing to remember is that we will all have bad days and days when we eat more than we should or whatever, but as long as we realise and get back on track the next day, then i think it will be fine.

MMJ I don't actually think what you had was that bad at all, I think you will still get a good 1st weeks losss, bet you do!!

Justgettingby, same for you, it could have been a lot worse, curly wurlies are mainly holes!!! Grin

I have been quite good this week, but i am going out for my friend's birthday tonight, so will see how it goes later. I am currently making Spaghetti Bolognaise (made with quorn mince) for dinner in the hope that it will fill me up and i wont be tempted by food later, well that is the plan anyway!

Hi Angrypixie, Upsydaisy, Lulumaam and Riading, it's lovely to have you all on board.

Justgettingby and MMJ, I agree with Elizabeth, curly wurly and gin and tonic are good choices, so much better than wine and galaxy. I reckon you'll both be on for losses this week.

Extra Easy is a bit weird to get your head round if you are used to red and green but it really does make the whole thing very easy and good for fitting in with family meals.

Big challenge in the Wynken house tomorrow, DS will be 7 and has requested chocolate cake. Found syn value for the one I've bought. AlI I need to do now is cut it into 15 pieces and try to only eat one piece, rather than 4. Oh and he wants McDonalds for lunch just to make it nice and easy, not !

ditavonteesed · 12/09/2010 07:41

do McDonalds do any salads? mind you I bet they would be a bit ewwwwwwwww.
I fell off the wagon seriously big time on friday, got a tiny bit of a hangover Blush and just couldn't function without grease. got back on track yesterday but wouldn't expect to have a loss this week. I can't even tell you what IO ate it is so embaraasing.
now dh always does a very fatty roast on a sunday and I need to slimit over, don't have fry light but I do have some spray oil so that will do for the roasties.
think I will have to give yorkshires a miss. is there any way to cook chicken thighs and drumsticks so they aren't too fatty (I know theya re the worst cuts but is what the dc want for there sunday roast.

upsydaisysexstylist · 12/09/2010 08:15

ditavonteesed, I think you have to cook on a roasing rack and then take the skin off and add no fat in cooking, well that's how you'd cook a whole chicken.
Or take skin off and poach in sage, stock and lemonand reduce stock for a scrummysauce. Am out of ideas now

JustGettingByMum · 12/09/2010 08:17

Morning everyone and welcome to the new folk.

Well I am hopefully back on track today, I've written out a list of meals for the week so I know what to buy when I go shopping later.

dita Can you take all the fat off the chicken before cooking it? I think that if you wanted you could wrap the chicken in bacon or parma ham to keep it moist. Or perhaps cook a separate chicken breast just for you? HTH

upsydaisy85 · 12/09/2010 09:16

Hey everyone, can I join?? I really want to start slimming world but there isnt a meeting near me which is just rubbish... I do have the handbook folder somewhere as my friend gave it to me a year or so ago so may 'attempt' to have a go myself, but I wont hold up much hope in that, I find it very confusing

Lulumaam · 12/09/2010 09:59

thanks for the warm welcome

i've had a look on line at recipes and things, and it seems you can eat a lot of food !! whihc seems to not make sense in the losing weight scheme of things! but it must work.. !

AngryPixie · 12/09/2010 12:58

Had several large glasses of red last night, but chose a tomato and broccoli omelette for my hangover brunch so not all bad.

Haven't eaten bread for 4 days which, for a greedy bread addict, is quite an accomplishment! Think I'm feeling less bloated already. Wish weigh day was sooner, Thurs still feels a long way off!

have read the whole thread now, well done on all the losses, and also yay that no-one is ashamed to fall off the wagonWink I usually have a pretty spectacular fall!

Have my Strictly workout with Flavi and Kelly Brooke DVD on, but am just watching it through for the 1st time - I tried to do the warm up but the steps are so damned complicated. Is annoying cos I sent DH out to a leaving do at work that normally he wouldn't have bothered with ...

I have a HUGE amount of weight to lose. Tomorrow instead of eating bacon sarnies to take the edge of DS3 having to go to nursery I will spend the morning making soup.

I have bought Quark from Morrisons, I think it is with cottage cheese. I made the lasagne with quark in it and it was OK.

good luck for the week.Smile

Summatontoast · 12/09/2010 22:09

Can I come along for the ride too please? Joined S World in April, lost a stone and a half but have managed to put over half a stone ON since the start of the school hols Blush
I have really lost the plot and am struggling badly to get back into 'the zone' but have read your posts and am feeling more motivated and determined to have a good week!

ditavonteesed · 13/09/2010 07:28

OK weigh in today
13st so 1lb loss, bit disheartening tbh. Think I may do weigh in's on Friday as if I am going to fall off it tends to be at the weekend. I suppose at least it is going down and not up (which it must have been doing for qwuite some time.
so here is to a good week. (must be I am going out on sat and I had all my hair cut off)

Riadingbetweenthelines · 13/09/2010 12:25

weigh-dismal hereSad I have put back half a stone over the summer.

DS3 was bewlidered about nursery again, but no tears AFAIK, we are going to have scrambled egg for lunch as I am STARVING (have been out buying a drum kit for DS1s xmas present and have only had time for a banana so far)

ElizabethWakefield · 13/09/2010 18:09

Well done on the 1lb Dita, it is definitely going in the right direction!

I totally agree with you about the Monday weigh, I weighed myself on friday and thought I had lost 2, have just weighed myself again there and it looks like I have put on!Sad Have my class in an hour so we will see, I feel like I have been really good as well!

I managed to get some Quark today, it was to make chicken kievs so I will attempt them at some point this week.

Made the macaroni cheese pasta bake from the slimming world website last night (well DP did) I thought it was only 3 points but looked again later and there was a little * where it said to add 6 points if you were not using the cheese from it as a healthy extra, and I had a huge portion too, so i think I totally went way over my syns last night!

ElizabethWakefield · 13/09/2010 21:24

1/2 a pound off tonight, feel a bit disappointed, but better than nothing I suppose (trying to find a positive!!)

Will try harder this week and see how it goes!

I didn't even make it til teatimeBlush. The kids started trying to kill each other at 4.15, by 4.30 I had had toast.Blush. (I blame my shamelessly going on about how well-planned I was, which fell apart round about breakfast time when i ran out of time and had no back-up plan. I have made soup though)

Also agree about Monday weigh in

Lulumaam · 14/09/2010 07:37

well, i'm on day one ! am Blush at my weight. but i'm starting now

had poached egg on a brown roll with a cup of tea.. used a syn for sugar. can't bear sweetener in tea!

going food shopping htis morning,so will stock up on free foods.

group was lovely, met two mums i know from school there ! so will have slimming buddies.

here we go !!!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 14/09/2010 08:06

Well done on the losses everyone, we're all going in the right direction. Our consultant said last week that it is 12 weeks to the weigh in before Christmas. Even at 'just' a pound a week, that's the best part of a stone, enough to make quite a difference. I'm hoping to shift 21lbs in that time which is 1.5lbs a week. I am on GP referral and started the same week as someone else on it which is great as we've been texting to keep each other on the straight and narrow. Added bonus is she's smaller than me and is passing on her clothes as she gets too small for them so I have a whole wardrobe in size 18 waiting for me to shrink into, hopefully at Christmas. I pay in her allotment veg !

Elizabeth, I lost 5lbs the first week, the bugger all the next and was gutted. The week after was 2.5lbs which felt much better.

Lulumaam, good luck for your first day. Don't let yourself get hungry, you really don't need to be. Are you doing extra easy? If so, have you got some tomato or some fruit to eat so you get your third superfree for breakfast?

AngryPixie · 14/09/2010 10:41

I'm doing OK so far, had planned to have no syns at all this week but did have a few glasses of red a the weekend and a flake (5.5) yesterday.
Have also done 2 runs pathetic jogs and a swim.
Hoping for at least 2 for my first weigh in on Thursday.
